What really sets them apart is the innovative and truly unique menu offerings like ceviche with beets, wagyu beef carpaccio, lamb belly, and savory pork chops. If meat isn't your thing, they have tons of fish, a take on fish and chips, oysters, and even more shellfish to choose from. Like we said, perfect harmony! Beyond this, we really enjoyed the medley of flavors that they paired together in each dish to make them remarkable. Ok, enough talk, let's take a journey through their menu, sip on a cocktail, and sit by the fire. Come on in. Starting with the raw bar, the Bass Ceviche was one of the most unique small plates we've ever had with light and flaky bass mixed with beets and in a beet vinaigrette. It was earthy, fresh, and light with every flavor you could imagine in such a simple dish. Yes, you must like beets, but they are perfectly cooked and are actually the perfect pair with the fish. Light and delicious. Maintaining our foray into the lighter side of Ocean & Acre, we opted for the wagyu beef carpaccio. The most tender slice of tartar beef paired well with some oil, herbs, and a light whipped cheese. The best bite is to wrap up the beef, cheese, herbs, and oil and stuff it all in your mouth. Savory, creamy, light. We took a turn from there into hearty with the Smoked Lamb Belly. The meat was fresh with very little game, a different take on a pork belly dish. What was truly amazing about this dish was the best side on Ocean & Acre's menu: the polenta. We cannot sing the praises of this more! With the creamy polenta flavor up front then the tart and sweet of the craisins and raisins on the back it's a savory sweet MASTERPIECE. Could. Not. Stop. Eating it. Great for the cold weather! Our main course consisted of some of the most flavorful, savory pork chops we've had in a long time. Perfectly cooked with herbs and a hearty au jus, this chop was well, perfect. It comes with two, cooked onions to add flavor to the sauce, as well as mushrooms. Two people can share it, it's that big. Suggestion: get the pork chop with a side of the polenta from the lamb belly dish. We ended up mixing them together and WOW. This is THE combination to try! Highly recommend. Let's not forget their drink menu which had a good mix of classics and signature sips to try. The one we like the best was Barracuda. It's their drink of the week this week, November 22nd 2019 through the Thanksgiving. They have an in-house infuser and backed it with habanero, blood orange and tequila. They paired this with crème de chassis on the top. Perfecto. We also enjoyed both the Rosetta, the drink of the week last week with whipped egg and cloves, as well as a fun tiki drink called Ebb Tide: pineapple, rum, mint. A tiki mule if you will. Went here recently with my wife for date night about two weeks after it opened. The place has a great atmosphere and the wait staff was great. Being the meat and potatoes guy, this place is missing on good options. My wife loved her meal but mine was just underwhelming. I got the half smoked chicken and fries. The fries were definitely over cooked and chicken was basic. I would have expected a better flavor. I expect the place to improve as the Halycon becomes developed and the menu is tweaked here and there. I gave them 4 stars since the service was great and the food came out promptly and correctly. The service was great, drink had very little alcohol, and the food was terrible. I ordered the crab cakes which had a little crab, lots of filler that were mushy and tasted like they were heated in a microwave, they for sure did not go from a pan to my plate. They were still cold in the inside. The ahi tuna was served in chunks and clearly had been frozen from the amount of water on the plate. The only thing good was the bourbon my husband ordered. First time here and I really enjoyed it! The service was really good, and the menu was extensive and offered a lot of variety. The tables and bathrooms were clean and the ambiance was super enjoyable. The only issue I have with this place was the portion sizes. For the price you're paying, you'd expect to receive a lot more food. For example, we ordered the $15 Burrata, and it only came with 2 pieces of bread. We came specifically for the Tuesday lobster tail special and the tails were really small, but at least they were really flavorful! I would recommend eating a snack before coming. read more

Atmosphere is super cute. Sat outside at the bar and enjoyed the sun and the breeze. The cocktail was yummy, but sadly the food was almost inedible. The fish and chips were bland and mushy. No salt or seasoning on this fish. The grouper was equally as bland but also tough and over cooked. Even the mashed potatoes had no flavor. Stopped in today for some oyster. Arrived after 4pm and were disappointed. Oysters were ok. They had No crackers to serve with the oysters . We then ordered the calamari, so disappointed. Only about 6 pieces calamari and the oil they fried it in needed to be changed. Spent $52.50 (not including tip) and were soo disappointed in the meal. Beer and service were good ! read more

Have been here twice now--the first time for dinner, second time for happy hour. Here is the scoop on both: Dinner: Dined on the patio. Almost everything was perfect--the atmosphere (tables are far enough apart that it's not noisy), outdoor seating is nice, and our server was super friendly and helpful (and he was brand new). We never felt rushed. We got the fish dip app which for me was too fishy tasting, but the rest of our group liked it. Only reason why our dinner was not five stars was due to one of the entrees being very late arriving--and strangely, it was shrimp on ice, so we still don't understand the delay. Anyway, it made for an awkward start to dinner while we sat waiting for at least ten minutes on the one missing entree. Happy Hour: Went with a large group. Happy hour menu (shrimp, oysters, salmon tacos) was great and reasonably priced. The salmon tacos were really good and the oysters were a nice size. HH wines are $5/glass, and I got the white which was a blend and very good. Cocktails are $7, and they rotate the HH cocktails daily, so you just need to ask. The great thing was they allowed separate checks for our large group, which was ideal since we were departing at different times. Only reason why there are not five stars is that they initially gave us the regular menus rather than the HH menu, so many from our group were not aware of the drinks on HH. Overall: Very friendly service both times, and the restaurant is very pretty. The outdoor patio is really nice and they even have an outdoor fireplace with seating around it in case you want to sit and have a drink by the fire. Reasonable prices for a seafood place. Be sure to ask about the HH specials if they don't tell you--happy hour is 4-6PM Monday-Friday, and available throughout the restaurant. read more

We have been here twice and both times the smell was gross. A complete 360 from the dining area, clean, neat, and welcoming. We got the lobster roll with garlic fries. Good portion of lobster! Messy but good. Get ready for butter. It needed some salt and pepper but the type of salt and pepper they had in the shakers would not allow anything to come out: cracked pepper and sea salt. I had to pop off the bottom stopper to get some out. My kids got salmon and mashed potatoes, awesome. Seared tuna, awesome. Wedge salad-awesome. Cesar salad was great! Tuna tartare was great too. Crab cakes (nuf said). But really though, the crab cakes here are bomb. I've never had a better crab cake in my life! I like the noodle aspect to it, it gives it a bit of a crunch. You really can't go wrong at Ocean and Acre. They have tons of great options - a couple I got to try that I recommend are - halibut (incredibly tender!!), acorn squash, and the fish sandwich. Highly do not recommend. Made a reservation for lunch to celebrate combined birthday's, we asked for a booth and was told no as it was for more than 2 guests. Granted, there was 4 people in the entire restaurant. (As we were having lunch multiple parties of 2 were seated at the booths we asked for). Not good. I felt bad for our poor server who was busy but come on. We got to the table and we sat for almost 20 minutes from when we ordered drinks to when they arrived. The Old Fashion I ordered was more like bourbon flavored water and was nasty. I decided to switch to wine to save myself from their bar tender and I saw my glass of wine sitting on at the station for almost 35 minutes. I was DONE with my meal before she brought it to the table. I tried multiple times to catch her attention to politely point out that it was there but she never looked over at us. Our Calamari came out not just room temperature but COLD. Obviously it had been sitting for ages waiting on our server to bring it out. I tried to send it back to get something warm, but I tried multiple times to catch her eye to talk to her about it and never did. I have up and ate cold calamari. Then there was my wife's dinner. She has a few food allergies so she just asked them to hold a few things from the plate. Nothing special. No substitutions or special replacements. Just hold a few things. Instead they brought the plate out with nothing held. Again it took forever to catch the servers attention. They brought it back to the kitchen and and 5 minutes later the her plate came back out. They obvious did not refire a new pork chop for her. Instead they rinsed off the gravy, pan seared and made it tough as nails and disgusting looking. That was the last straw for us. We definitely won't be back. The only reason they didn't get 1 star was that my scallops were very tasty. read more

We tried to go this evening for a glass of wine and some oysters, and the last time we were here the oysters were terrible. We decided to try just a few of each of the 3 versions they offer. All 3 versions appear to look and taste the exact same. The issue isn't that they are clearly passing the same "house" oysters as "blue points", but that they all have an intense amount of grit in them. We've eaten oysters literally all over the world, and these may send you to the dentist. We called the manager over to let him know and he blamed it on the "brine". First time here. Place looks nice. Food was decent but not great. I had the shrimp and grits but subbed out snapper for the shrimp. Wife had the hot buttered lobster roll and fries. Other people that were with us had the rib-eye special and the salmon. We also had calamari and hush puppies. One thing I didn't like was that they left the skin on the fish. The other thing was that when the server was telling us of the specials he told us prime rib was a special but later came back to say it was actually ribeye tonight. So said ok to ribeye instead of prime rib. Then about a minute later the food came out and instead of asking how he wanted his steak it came out med well to well done. I came here last night with my mom and Step Dad, and I'll preface that it was Spring Break weekend and cold outside, that being said it was not busy at all until later into our meal. Great service , the ambience was great. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer , it was great, fresh, not overcooked , still had a crunch but not over fried . I ordered a burger at a seafood place and was a bit nervous but I must say, the burger was outstanding . My Step Dad got the fish and chips and those looked delicious . Overall we all left clean plates and they went above and beyond. I will say this place seems to be a little pricey but considering the location and the ambience of the establishment, it's worth the money. I can't wait to bring my girlfriend here in the near future. I understand sometimes when a place has less customers the quality increases and more customers it decreases, however I don't think that will be the case when we come back at a busier time, but we will see. For now all I can say is it's worth the money and I will be back not just to see what it's like at a busier time but to grab a great meal and have a great night with my girlfriend. read more

My husband and I had the scallops and the cod, shrimp and oyster platter. The food was poorly seasoned. The grits were cold and old. The service was extremely slow. It would appear the investment was spent more on the decor and should have been spent on hiring a good chef and more staff. Dinner was slow too. Caesar salad was too salty so we returned, the calamari was tough and they put the sauce on it instead of on the side. We ordered grouper sandwiches and again the sauce was on the bun instead of the side, and way too much. Then the fish and chips which was overcooked with a burnt flavor. Grass fed beef and wild salmon and gluten free options make it perfect for me and my guy. It's clean and spacious and has an outdoor patio. And one of the managers - Nick is AWESOME. First off, I did enjoy the restaurant and our server. Alice was extraordinary. I did enjoy my food, but there was very little of it. I ordered a $36.00 for two very small and flat and thin crabcakes it also came with a little bunch of greenery on the side as a salad and that was it. Two of the other patrons got fish and chips and were disappointed at how small the fish was. One of the patron said you can get more fish at a particular restaurant for less price and better. The other patron with the fish and chips, said they were good but he only got two very tiny pieces as well. Another guest got the lobster roll and was amazed at how small it was compared to other lobster rolls at other restaurants again all the food tasted good but you don't come away full and it doesn't take a lot to fill us up. My family ate a special Thanksgiving meal at Ocean and Acre yesterday. We knew it would be pricey (almost $300 for 4 adults and a child) and read the menu several times. It sounded good, so we reserved a late lunch. We were seated in a full, but not crowded, dining area. Our reservation was for 5 but there were only 3 place settings on our table. The server was very nice and personable, but it took until after our starters arrived that we were given the rest of the flatware. It took a very long time for items we needed to eat with were supplied after pointing out the problem. Later, the sides for the table were served without any serving spoons. Again, it took us requesting the utensils with another long wait to even begin eating. The first course was wonderful. Peel and eat shrimp, plump and tasty. Beet salad that promised "candied walnuts" that turned out to be three slices of beet with a very slight dusting of walnut with only a couple of very, very small walnut pieces. It, too, was tasty. Second course was the lobster bisque, and one of us got the hushpuppies. Again, no spoons and again a long wait for them to arrive. By the time they did, the soup was luke warm. The hushpuppies were the highlight of the meal. Excellent! Next was our entree. I was looking forward to a prime rib meal, only to be told long after we ordered, that they ran out of it. I settled for turkey. It was just a lump of dark meat turkey on a plate with a great sauce. But no stuffing or dressing. The turkey was excellent, very moist and tasty and the sauce was great, also. But it certainly didn't seem like a Thanksgiving plate. The family sides were good, but the whipped potatoes were very bland. It desperately needed a gravy but there wasn't enough sauce with the turkey to suffice. We ordered our dessert of pie. One pecan, two pumpkin, and two key lime. The pieces were smaller than I would serve a young child at home. Very, very small. After I began my pie, the waitress said they were now out of pumpkin. Our two who ordered it had to re-order, which again took time. The food was edible and some of it was really wonderful. But the lack of flatware, serving spoons, napkins for two in our party were not up to the standards I'd hope for in an ordinary neighborhood restaurant much less an upscale setting. Awful, awful awful experience. This is the worst restaurant from a service, food and management perspective. The service is very slow and the restaurant wasn't busy on a Saturday afternoon so no excuse and it's obvious why now. The server got my order wrong so instead of them fixing it and getting it out quickly, came 25 minutes later and we needed to leave. Got there at 1pm and at 2:15 we're ready to leave and only one of us ate a full lunch. The manager was mad and loud which is obviously unprofessional so we left. He comped the meal which he should have for such poor customer service. He should have been mad at the staff and kitchen cooks. This place won't last long with the attitudes there. This was our first time here and we ordered takeout on Thanksgiving with their prix fixe menu. There was a whole lot of confusion between different staff members at the restaurant as to whether they would even accept our take out order, but we were finally able to do so after speaking with 3 different people. We each had the Caesar salad. There was an addition of pickled onions which I didn't really care for. Otherwise, the salad was good. Some of the pieces were brown and not chopped very evenly, but it was not a deal breaker. Second courses were the bisque and the crab noodle cake. The soup was delicious. The crab noodle came was really salty and the sauce they served it with was inedible. It really was horrid. We each ordered the prime rib. It was really good, cooked well, and flavorful. The horseradish cream was to die for!!!! So delicious. I was sad when the prime rib was done, because I no longer had an excuse to shove the sauce in my mouth. There was an addition of acid (or a lot more acid) than is typical and it really really worked. The sides were phenomenal and I'm actually really bummed they are not available all the time because I would totally go back for them. We had the truffle macaroni and cheese , the mushroom stuffing, sweet potato casserole, and the cranberry sauce. To be honest, those were some of the best thanksgiving sides I've ever had. They were so amazing. The one thing that was disappointing about the sides was that we were not given the mushroom gravy that was supposed to come with the entrees. We had the pecan pie for dessert. I think I remember seeing some sort of cream or sauce that was supposed to be served with it that we never got. But overall the pie was good. I'm more of a cake person, personally, so I'm never really in awe of pie. My husband really enjoyed it.
