Hubbers and I finished off some errands and we wanted to find a spot for a quick snack and refreshments. We were standing reading the menu right up front when locals, ex-pats and tourists walking through told us how good AND affordable this place is. We were convinced, so we came through. A staff member told us to sit where we liked. We took one of the tables set on sand. We were given menus almost immediately. Nothing popped out immediately, but those we spoke to were right: for its location, their price point really is reasonable. COMPLIMENTARY TOSTADA CHIPS AND CRACKERS: Great start as we waited for our drinks and apps. I thought it was generous for something free. Really liked that tostada, gotta say. GUACAMOLE: Nothing impressive - just a slob of a few spoons of guac on top of chips. But it did go great with the comp'd bites! SHRIMP CEVICHE TOSTADA: Presentation wasn't very good, but the taste more than made up for it. Shrimp was so fresh, it stood on its own. Avocado and salsa and hot sauce were good sidekicks. This, I would highly recommend. MARLIN EMPANADAS: Never had marlin empanadas before (nor has Hubbers) so we agreed this was a must-have. We were surprised it came with three (we thought it came with only one given the price!) It was pretty tasty but there was a hint of dry in the fish. Seasoning was great, though, I'll give it that. Overall flavor was still above par and good eats, nonetheless. FOOD: 4. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 5. PARKING: Street only, but we cabbed it. OVERALL: 4. Piña colada was a great way to wash it all down. The one thing that kinda irked me are some local vendors freely walking through as we waited for our food. Some are okay, but there was this one particular lady claiming to be a fortune teller who had challenges accepting the word NO. After a few attempts and more NO's, she had the audacity to ask for money so she can get something to eat. (I'm not trying to be mean or cruel, but she did not look like she's been skippin' meals.) I mean, I get it. Everyone has their hustle in a tourist city like this, but I prefer to eat my meals in peace. She eventually gave up and found another "victim." Otherwise, it was a good run. I can't elaborate how reasonable the pricing is. There really are tons of bargain food buys for a restaurant with a location and knockout view like this. Would Hubbers and I return?! Absolutely.

I had places to go, things to do, and people to see during my brief 3 day visit to Puerto Vallarta and one place I wanted to check out was the Puerto Vallarta Malecón, boardwalk, in the historic downtown where I stumbled upon Ocean Azul where a waiter outside noticed that my mouth was waterin' as I gazed at the menu board outside featuring mariscos, seafood, and invited me in this ocean front restaurant and when I say oceanfront, my table was literally on the sand. Before I was seated, the waiter adjusted the beach umbrella so the sun wouldn't be beaming down on me, then he took my order for a mango margarita. I saw many delectable delights whilst perusing the menu but I was still quite satisfied from the burrito that I had earlier so I settled for lite afternoon snack of ceviche and a mango margarita. After asking for the check, the waiter asked if I would like another margarita, I declined but when he said that it was on the house, my decline transformed to an accept! This was my first visit to Puerto Vallarta but it certainly will not be my last and I shall return to Ocean Azul for a proper meal.

Extremely disappointing service. A group of us went for the two-for-one drinks and ordered one single serving of guacamole. They first brought out two servings of salsa (not ordered) so when I let them know the order wasn't correct, they left the salsa and brought out two servings of guacamole but then proceeded to charge us for all four servings of food. when we questioned the waiter about this he wouldn't take it off of the bill. He said we should have told him about it (which we did in the first place, plus it was never mentioned to order 2 servings). After a bit of back and forth and being man-splained to about how he wouldn't change the bill, I just gave him my card so we could pay and get out of this place. It's cash only... luckily our group had enough cash to cover it but it was not expressed to us that it was cash only. The icing on the cake was the currency exchange rate was incorrect. It said 16 MXN per 1 USD when the current exchange rate is actually 18.10 MXN. We were over charged and considering how many other restaurants there are in the area, do not waste your time or money here.

The tables are right on the sand at the beach. You should go for dinner because you'll get a great view of the sunset. The food is good and the staff is friendly. Make sure you have cash. They don't accept credit cards.

This place is always on our list. It's a cute gem on the beach. They have amazing food and drinks for a great price. We had the best seafood cocktail that had octopus, shrimp, scallops, and raw oysters. So so good.

Unfortunately, this place is as much of a tourist trap as it looks. I waited for 30 minutes to get my one Mojito, then continue to wait for an hour for just guacamole and chips. It took me almost 2 hours to get out of there with only ordering those items when I would've had a full meal if the timing and service had been reasonable. The restaurant was hardly crowded with plenty of workers available, just not being utilized. The ocean view is great, and it's nice to sit on the sand while you eat or drink, but unfortunately my experience was very unenjoyable

Rating is for drinks only. Tasty drinks with good happy hour prices. Right on the beach sand under covered umbrellas. Excellent value on the 2 for 1 drinks. Lots of beach vendors, but they don't really harass you. Recommended drink spot.

Stopped here for our first off resort lunch before we walked the Malecón. We were enticed in by the fresh oysters being shucked outside. We got fabulous recommendations and service! The full red snapped was so delicious and the large oysters were so fresh and yummy! Very affordable! It was cash only when we were there!

Delicious food and great hospitality with a beautiful view of the bay. Seven people ordered seven different dishes and only one said meh. Nachos not a hit.

Fish tostada for about $1. You can't beat it!

Got sick on shrimp cocktail here. Diarrhea and vomiting the next day. Shrimp weren't even cleaned.

I was placed by the glass for the view. (It can be requested, but not expected.) The martinis were great. I got the fried goat cheese and the ham & chicken croquettes. My party of 3 went to just me, so that was enough. It would have been nice to try some other things, but it was my last night in PV and what I got was satisfying. Live music was playing throughout my evening. First, just a guitarist and then, 2 others joined him. Great vibe and wonderful food. Just right for my last night.

We came here as a party of 4 for my friend's 40th birthday around 6:30 and caught the most amazing sunset. They had a professional photographer take a complimentary photo for us. The service was impeccable, so welcoming and sweet! All of our dishes were so good. We ordered: octopus, seafood croquette, egg potato, potatoes brava, asparagus, white sangria. The octopus was so tender (maybe the best octopus dish that I've had) and the seafood croquette just melts in your mouth. There was not a dish that I did not like. For dessert we got the orange flan which was so yummy and delightful. and the chocolate lava cake. The sunset view was gorgeous! And the price was very reasonable - we got drinks, dinner and dessert, and the total came out to be $44 per person. I hope to be back!
