Nice atmosphere and one of the nicer ones in the area. Food is overly fussy and unhealthy, while also being overpriced.

We were guests of the hotel this weekend and I was absolutely drooling thinking of the delicious looking menu options for breakfast. We arrived around 9:30 and an older male told us the wait would be 30 minutes but didn't offer to write our names down. We found someone else to write our names down. We were later seated by the only polite and smiling person in the entire restaurant, a young brunette hostess, and thankfully she brought us coffee and water. This was the only smile or decency we experienced at this restaurant. We perused our menus, enjoyed the view, and waited. And waited. And waited. There were two waitresses working and neither would make eye contact with us. One came refilling coffee for tables and I actually put my empty cup at the edge of the table and she completely ignored us. 30 minutes after being seated and both servers refusing to acknowledge our existence, we left. We left muttering angrily and the male who earlier wouldn't write our names down and appeared to be in management--he didn't even ask why. The morning rush was over, there were vacant tables and no waiting, and not a word, not a glance, no acknowledgement of two humans that looked like all the other humans in there were sitting waiting to be fed. As someone who was raised by a restaurant owner and manager, I can't remember being this pissed off. This is a serious failure. If the kitchen was backed up or had a problem, it wouldn't kill someone to say "hello", check on my coffee, you know, treat us like customers? I was iffy about returning to the hotel, but was leaning on doing so. After the experience at the restaurant, it's a solid "no". Having to drive to freaking Aberdeen for coffee and a meal (because all the bakeries and what not nearby are closed on Sundays) really spoiled the experience at Ocean Crest. read more

We had dinner last night. The service and food was the best we have had in years! Wendy the bartender was our server and bartender; she is a true professional. She explained the menus and served us here famous home made craft cocktails. We cannot say enough about this restaurant. We are here for the summer and will be back. Overpriced and unimaginative. Trying to be upscale dining and succeeded with the price. Had the flat iron steak and it was smothered with sauce and peppercorns. FYI they do not have an liquor license so imagine our frustration in asking for the wine list only to be told they didn't have one -- all while sitting next to a wall display of wine bottles. We would have really appreciated being informed of that ahead of time, like when calling and making the reservation, confirming the reservation, and reviewing the menu several times online. We have always enjoyed going to the OC because of of the setting-staff and lastly the food. The food has never been great but it has been good enough. We always insist friends who come and stay at our place go and request Sam the best server any where. He no longer works there, last time we had a fellow named Jess. Well, we've been here twice over a year apart, and both visits have been spectacular, which tells me something about their consistency. This year, we happened to be vacationing for my birthday, and so based on our first visit, I picked it for my birthday dinner. Amazed again. We started off with an Asian slaw/pear/blackened prawn appetizer special that was delicious. If anything, they could've left the pine nuts off, since it had everything it needed without them, but it was outstanding nonetheless. For dinner, my wife got the entree special that was a very large portion of perfect salmon, with wild mushrooms in a gorgeous cream sauce. The sides we both had were excellently roasted vegetables and the parmesan potatoes that were almost like they made gnocchi and roasted it. Incredible. I went for a similarly "foraged" type meal, and was pleasantly impressed with the braised venison rib chops with huckleberry demiglase. Our teenager decided on the dungeness "thinguine", and it was expectedly rich, decadent, and filling. Since this was a birthday, we ordered dessert. The dairy-free key lime/coconut pie was nice. The kid's espresso cheesecake was very good, but my chocolate indulgence, made with local vanilla ice cream and the menu's chocolate torte melted down and poured over it, stole the show. It wasn't long before my wife and child were decimating my plate, and I was not mad, as I'd had another outstanding meal, and they had left their desserts open for assault. I could go on about the opening cocktails (get the whiskey one!) or the excellent wine list (that includes small, mind-blowing vineyards we have visited that are hard to find!), or the service, which is exemplary and perfectly nuanced for an upscale experience, but I'm making myself hungry again. read more

Great dining in the coast. Doesn't look like much but this place is solid. The food would be solid in downtown Seattle and is unmatched on the coast. It's hard to know where to turn in, look for a tiki torch. Restaurant enters next looks like a gift shop at first but again once inside, solid experience. My husband took me here to celebrate my birthday and we couldn't have had a better experience. I don't think there is a bad view in the house. Every table had a stunning view of the ocean. Our server Sam took excellent care of us. We started with the appetizer that was one of the specials - fresh local chanterelle mushrooms with butter and herbs and my husband had a bowl of the famous clam chowder. The soup was so flavorful and light, we enjoyed it over some chowders that tend to be too thick. I can see why it so popular and we got the back story of the chowder from Sam, who even gave me the recipe! We had the steelhead with strawberries and balsamic and the flat iron steak with mushrooms and onions. The steelhead had a nice sear and was rich and buttery. The strawberries added a perfect blend of sweet and freshness and complemented the fish. The steak was delicious and tender, cooked to perfection. We loved the Gorgonzola scalloped potatoes- we also ordered the saffron rice and I would recommend the potatoes over the rice all day long. They are rich and creamy. Because we were so stuffed, we took dessert to go! Sam couldn't let us leave without a birthday candle so he brought out a little ramekin with whipped cream and a candle, and the dessert was free! The original owners son still works at the restaurant, and as we left we had to tell him what a gem the resort is. We will definitely be back for the service, delicious food and views. read more

This place was absolutely DREADFUL for the amount of money spent. The food was cold and meat not cooked properly. Service was almost non-existent- as we got our meal and never saw our waiter again for over 45 minutes. We had to wave another server to get our check. The staff was rude and our waiter was so odd, it made us uncomfortable. A friend had recommended this place since we were staying nearby and we had hoped to have an amazing experience and a gourmet type meal and it was neither. It was very expensive for such a bad experience. After leaving, we almost called back to speak with the owner or manager and called our credit card company to have the charge reversed but decided that it would not be worth the battle. The wife and I snuck away on a weekend getaway. We headed to Ocean Creat resort. The ambience was as if your in a 5 star restaurant with a coffee shop feel. The view is absolutely breathtaking. We started with a couple of mixed drinks and they were reasonably priced. The crab cakes are absolutely scrumptious, dressed in a chocolate chili sauce. Not spicy at all. The wife and I both ordered the New York and flat iron steaks. They were prepared perfectly and extremely tender with outstanding flavor. The spaghetti squash was delicious. However the scallop potatoes were not as good as we were hoping. Not as seasoned to our likings The desserts were delicious. The chocolate cake and the Washington Apple Cheesecake were very tasty. Try the Razor clam.... Very yummy. Not a fan of what they call Ahi Poke. Not traditional at all. They serve this with seaweed which covers the taste of the Tuna. The Venison was very tasty. The Duck not so much. It was not very tender so I ate very little. We came with a group so we could try many options. Crab pasta dish was just ok. Bland but the crab if you picked it out was great. My wife and I went here because we heard it had a famous chef and great wine. We were quite surprised by what we found for a $$$$ priced restaurant. It started with the wine and the service. They seemed to have a nice collection of Washington wines. We explained to the server that we preferred Bordeaux style and preferred dry and light to rich fruit. She didn't talk about any of the wine options and immediately offered us a taste of their house Syrah and Cab. These are not varietals one usually suggests for being dry and light. She clearly knew nothing about the wines, and I assume there was no one else in the restaurant who did since she didn't refer us to them. Then the food. I asked the server to describe the crab pasta and lamb rib dishes in more detail as I was having difficulty deciding between them. She said "all of the dishes in the restaurant are excellent." So I went with the crab pasta and my wife got the scallops. We also ordered their "famous" clam chowder to share. The chowder was underwhelming - a rich butter and milk broth with very small pieces of clam. The scallops were raw. We order scallops all the time and we know they are delicate and need to be transparent in the middle, but these had barely looked at the grill. The curry sauce was made from a boring and typical yellow curry mix. And the rice had some gratuitous sweetener that made the whole dish taste sweet. For the pasta, I asked for chili flakes. They were light brown (very old). The crab was hidden by a rich cream sauce that completely obscured its subtle flavor. At one point I even went hunting in my dish to see if there was any crab in it. I did find one small piece of claw, but there was clearly very little. The bill, of course, was not very little. I would have given the restaurant one start, but the staff was friendly and the view was pleasant. And thankfully the elevator music wasn't too loud. read more

We were looking for a peaceful getaway when we stumbled upon this amazing treasure in Moclips. Who knew?! Started with a late afternoon lunch (appetizers: clam chowder and BBQ shrimp). Both were delicious and left us wanting more. So we came back for dinner. Tammy took such great care of us. From an introduction to Chef Ron, creative photographs (as it was date night) and dessert recommendations, she was thoughtful and delightful. Now a word about the chef ... Ron came to our table and after discussing our choices for a sauce to accompany my halibut, he offered two! Both were a hit! In fact, we requested the one with strawberry maple balsamic reduction and vanilla ice cream as our dessert. Well, along with the killer Hazelnut chocolate martini. My mother and I come to this restaurant every year to celebrate my birthday. A special occasion it was not! No warm greeting, it was like a tomb. Luke warm chowder was served to my 82-year old mom and when she asked for bread with her chowder, she was informed that bread is only served with dinner... The manager on duty said no bread; ridiculous! My crab cakes at over $20 were about 1/8-inch thick with very little crab in them. I ordered them "crisp" and what was served to me looked like it had barely touched the pan. The crab cakes, rice, and vegetables on my plate were cold, cold, cold! In addition, wine was ordered to celebrate the special occasion and the amount of wine in the glass was minuscule; much less than received at other restaurants and over-priced for the tiny amount served. We came for Kyle's laugh & stayed for Neal's personality, hospitality and extensive knowledge of the menu. Neal recommended the Cioppino which I have never had before & it was fantastic! Everything we've ever had here is amazing. The atmosphere, staff & ambiance is worth the drive out here. Worth for every penny . We loved staying at this place. Staffs are best at their work. We enjoyed the spa and pool. Well maintained.
