I moved to Carlsbad 10 months ago and had a massage at Ocean Day. It was great. I bought my partner a gift certificate for a 90 minute massage and he enthusiastically showed up for his appointment. Following his massage he exited the treatment room to hear/see his masseuse tell her coworker "I can't believe how fat he is, uck" Upon noticing him she said "oh crap" and walked down the hall. This is apparently not an emotionally safe place unless you have a well proportioned body. Fat shaming should not be a component of your service. We won't be returning or referring friends to your spa. read more

5-star atmosphere, professionalism, attitude and ambience. Took 'mother-in-law' for her first massage in a number of years and she was over-joyed! She tells me Karen was the cat's meow. For me, I was made comfortable in their little waiting area with a neck pillow and served hot tea while I read and waited. Frankly, I could have read and waited longer still it was so nice. This small little business is a little gem and I just love everything about it, the staff, the ambiance, the prices and the service are all just amazing. Ashley has done my facials and Michelle has given me some of the best massages. They offer monthly specials which are a killer deal on pricing and by far some of the best in the area. Just had a very relaxing 90 minute facial with Ashley. Wow! The setting and room are so relaxing and they have these really cozy microfiber sheets on the table. The facial was fabulous and relaxing. Ashley is dual certified in aesthetics and massage therapy. She does the facial then gave me a massage on shoulders, arms and feet. Ashley has a delightful way about her and strong hands to get that amazing deep massage too. I highly recommend Ocean Day Spa! read more

Despite some of the negative reviews that were listed for this spa, I had a fantastic experience there. My sister-in-law was visiting and I thought I would surprise her with a massage. I, too, purchased one for myself with Diane and was overjoyed with the attention I received. I woke up that morning with a sort of 'sour' stomach. I told Diane about it and she went and found some ginger oil to massage on my stomach. She asked and listened to how much pressure I would like for my massage, which I like deep tissue normally and she did just that! After the massage, she even fixed me a little 'drink' of some nano greens to help with my tummy problem. The next day I received a very thoughtful thank you card from Diane and she even wrote she hoped I was feeling better. I thought the spa was serene and peaceful, the staff was professional and caring. Would definitely go back again. read more

OCEAN DAY SPA is absolutely the BEST SPA EVER!! I went in two weeks ago for a 60 minute pedicure with Veronica which was unbelievable! It was by far the best pedicure I have ever had. Based on my very positive experience I decided to schedule a massage with Kerry (owner of Ocean Day Spa) a week later. I didn't think I could be anymore impressed, but I was incorrect! Kerry is truly amazing! She asked me several questions to pinpoint how the massage could be most effective for me. She was fabulous, her hands are like magic. I will definitely be returning for another miraculous massage. After my massage, I decided to schedule a facial with Virginia. And again, I could not have been more impressed. She knew exactly what my skin needed and altered my facial to most benefit my skin concerns. She was so very knowledgeable about her products and how to team them up for maximum effectiveness. Prior to going to Ocean Day Spa I loved to purchase Groupons and other daily deals. Although, 99% of the time I was not impressed with my purchase and did not return to the business. After trying Ocean Day Spa, I will no longer be on the look out for deals from other spa's, I will only be returning to the extremely competent team at Ocean Day Spa. What the heck? I read the other reviews and really thought this place was going to be fantastic. However, I was not impressed AT ALL. From the moment I walked in and sat in the "sanctuary" area and was offered a glass of arrowhead water like it was something special. Then I had a pedicure where I felt like I was totally inconvienencing the girl. She didn't say a word to me and didn't seem to care about my comfort. I was supposed to have a Shellac manicure and instead got some other brand that has already chipped off after a week. Not happy with this place at all. I think it's misleading. read more

I don't treat myself often (or ever) so this was something special. I left feeling relaxed and energized. OK, call me a massage-junkie. I am. About 7 years ago, my forty-ish body started complaining rather loudly, after years of international flights of 26 hours or more, weekend warrior frenzies in the garden, and fleeting attempts at the gym to stay fit. But I am now convinced that if you can afford it, massage therapy is not just a splurge; it is part of a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and good nutrition. I have tried countless massage therapists, from the frou-frou $$$$ kind to the no-nonsense sports medicine kind, to the we-bring-the -table to-your-home kind, to the hotel kind (in many different countries, and many different methods). So after all that, I have to say that Ocean Day Spa has bragging rights to the best massage therapist I have ever had. Kerry, who is both a massage therapist and owner, is truly gifted. She pays attention to the trigger points I tell her about and finds ones I didn't know I had. She goes back to the stubborn ones until she gets them to release, and is friendly without chatting incessantly (after all, the point is to relax, right?). The monthly specials are an amazing deal. A hidden gem in Carlsbad!! Ocean Day Spa is truly a fantastic experience that is head and shoulders above the rest! I have had massages at resorts on Maui (Grand Walea), the Four Seasons Carlsbad, La Costa Resort and Spa, Trilogy (Manhattan Beach), Massage Envy (Carlsbad). I kept trying until I found Ocean Day Spa and have no desire or need to look any further. Kerry (the owner), and her staff, has a natural gift of healing through massage therapy. I work in a high stress job, in front of a computer, or in strategic meetings, and coming to Ocean Day Spa has been such a great relief of that stress! I come in for a 90 minute (sometimes 60) massage thinking I have just the typical upper back/shoulder stress - and throughout my massage Kerry finds areas that are tight that I didn't even realize, and works me into a peaceful and relaxing abyss. I was recommended to go here by my sister. I have used their services for close to 5 years. I usually come in for a facial which lasts 1 hour. I love the ambiance of the rooms and the service is excellent. I feel you get what you pay for. I especially love the hot rocks when massaging my arms and neck. This last visit, I had some really tense muscles in my shoulders and neck, and she knew just how to relax and massage those areas. I felt so much better when I left for home. I have been going to this Spa for years... I lived in Hawaii and studied massage therapy, and love the variety and options at this Spa. There is always a deal, always a promotion, and the staff caters to all of my Spa parties and mixed reservation requirements! The ambiance is lovely, the staff is extensively knowledgable and talented... Definately the best bodywork I've found in my travels ... and the Facial and Foot treatments are fantastic. This is one classy place. They offer you something to drink when you come in, and have cool products there that I have not seen in other spas. Michelle was my masseuse. I had the Head Trip and Grounding Sole treatments that lasted an hour all together. It was amazing!! A feast for the senses - aromatherapy, beautiful music, and warm comfort being expressed through her hands. I was in heaven. I would highly recommend Michelle. I have been to Ocean Day Spa many times. I always received an amazing massage! Unfortunately, the owner Kerry is extremely rude! I was in absolute shock that someone would ever run a business like this. Both my husband and I own a business and would never speak or act the way Kerry acted to me. It's very unfortunate because I would have continued to go there at least two times a month like I had been going. However now I will never go back and I will tell everyone I know to never go there. There are hundreds of spa's out there and in these economic times she should learn how to treat her customers with respect. I feel bad for her employee's because they all seemed nice but I won't give my hard earned money to someone who speaks so poorly to their customers. i hope if you choose to go there you have a different experience with Kerry then I did. read more

I have been to this spa 4 times. The facials are AMAZING! My skin was breaking out and had problems but after my treatment from Virgina, I was glowing and all my annoying breakouts stopped. I've also been waxed here a few times, and they are so gentle and really take care of you. Also, they don't force you or make you feel like you HAVE to buy this or that when you are done with your treatment either which I have always hated about other spas. They suggest things that will work for you and that's it. I gave this place a 3 because the pedicures are not fab and way over priced for what you get (or what you don't get...). Everything else about this place is wonderful though. From the second you walk in the door it's ZEN! So comfortable and gorgeous. It's very close to businesses and the hussle and bussle of the work zone, but the second you walk in you are immediately relaxed and all of that noise and stress outside is gone! I would go back to this place for sure, but stay away from the pedi's. Not worth it! read more

I'm a Day Spa Manager at the largest Day Spa in New England and I am rarely impressed with visiting other day spas while on vacation. Needless to say I will be making some changes at our facility due to the exceptional quality of service and comfort experienced at Ocean Day Spa. Their skin care products are high quality and results oriented, the atomosphere is relaxing, the bathroom is clean, the decor is interesting and calming, the staff is as friendly as can be and highly skilled, their menu of services is vast and suitable for anyone, their hours are accomodating, the tea selection is immense, the prices are very affordable and I just can't say enough about them. I visited today with 3 other women and no one had any complaints. We all had massages with different add-ons and could barely carry on a conversation when finished due to such relaxation. If I lived locally I would only visit Ocean Day Spa. I wouldn't even want to explore other options. To give credit to the massage therapists: Gina, Lori, and Kerry.
