Welcoming bartenders. Service is pretty prompt. The bar area could be a bit bigger, like offer more seating. The drinks are a bit pricey $10-12+. The food is reasonably priced. The food is good but the portions could be a bit bigger. I won't order the tuna bc it's small. The crab shrimp cake is really good. The impossible burger is yummy. You barely get a hand full of fries. I had to order an additional fry to give to my son bc what came w/ the burger was minimal. I wanted to try the hummus but you can only get pita w/ it no celery or carrots apparently in their kitchen. Nonetheless it's clean & a nice vibe. We ate both lunch and dinner at the Ocean Grille this past Saturday. Lunch was outside with a decent view and live music, then dinner was inside near the bar...pretty much in the lobby which was odd. Service both times was slow with our server disappearing in the middle of the meal, perhaps they are short-staffed as most places are these days. The food itself was ok, but definitely not worth the price point. What is most disappointing is seeing multiple additional charges on my credit card that are pending even though the two actual full charges have already posted. The additional charges total up to almost $300 and are not amounts that make sense. I now have to monitor my account to make sure these charges fall off as they are completely invalid. I was pleasantly surprised by the restaurant inside the Hilton. We ordered at the tiki bar out back and sat on the beach deck and the ambiance and view was wonderful. The only thing I can review is the tuna bowl because both my friend and I had the same thing. It was pretty good, however it was pretty small (see photos). Don't be turned away by the rating until there are enough reviewers to really get a good read on this place. I couldn't give it a 4 or 5 star rating but if you're staying at the Hilton or close by and want to eat with a view of the beach I would give this place a shot!! read more

Ocean Grille - Beachside Melbourne - 3 Stars. It's hard to gain inspiration to write witty reviews when there is nothing that stands out about a restaurant. The Ocean Grille is inside the Hilton Hotel, Beachside Melbourne. Just because a restaurant is inside a hotel should not scream average. In fact there is a restaurant inside a hotel in Orlando that has made my Top 5 in the United States List. Anyway, the Ocean Grille is run like that episode of the Lucy show where the conveyor belt keeps spitting out candy faster than Lucy and Ethel can box it. Chaos with lack of direction. My server, Chris, was a charming fellow from the islands. I only mention this because while he was prompt and courteous, he was completely unintelligible. Besides, service is not part of the score anyway. Ordered eggs Benedict, home fries and pancakes. The cakes were fluffy and actually resounded with flavor, which is rare for a plain pancake. The eggs Benedict had a tangy hollandaise sauce that was appealing. I abroached the egg and the yolk was runny as it should be. The muffin was toasted properly. The home fries were red bliss and were sautéed and seasoned adequately. Of the four main Beachside hotel restaurants this was the best. The dining room was also the cleanest and most contemporary. If you are looking for a change up in your breakfast routine try the Ocean Grille. Otherwise, Big Boy says, there are better places Beachside. read more

I met some friends there looking for drinks, appetizers and dinner. The drinks were good. The appetizers were bland. The seafood was terrible. Mahi was grey and rubbery. On top of that, they double or triple charged my card. And now 7 days later I haven't been refunded. Spoke with accounting and Food/beverage manager and they said that's standard. So watch out for a crappy meal and double charge that will not refund to your account for atleast a week (and counting) - they said there was nothing they could do. We enjoyed dinner for two on a Wednesday evening. We waited at the host stand for a bit for someone to see us and seat us. The restaurant was empty! We sat by the corner with a view of the beach. Our waitress was kind, but was not able to answer basic menu questions such as gluten free and low salt options. Diner was served with fresh bread, salad, then main course with one side. Bread and salad were fresh and tasty. The main course was delicious! The chef combined simple flavors to provide and excellent presentation and delightful flavor. We followed our dinner with sweets, tbe chocolate cake and crem brule cheesecake. Both were overly rich, but scrumptious none the less. Overall, if you need a place on the beach and are not concerned with slow service and enjoy delightful flavors, this is your place. read more

Thought I would try the hotel restaurant while staying here. The Hilton or any hotel restaurant is always very pricy. You really pay for the convenience. I ordered the Coconut Shrimp appetizer and Grilled Grouper as the main course. The Coconut Shrimp appetizer I believe was made from frozen shrimp. Why you ask? I've never seen a "flat" very thin shrimp" that had more breading than shrimp. Bland. The Grilled Grouper was not bad but the so called "mashed" potatoes were straight from a box. Using a spoon, not a fork, was a good option. I will pass on any further visits to this restaurant. read more

Our family rendezvoused in Melbourne at the Hilton Melbourne Beach Oceanfront Hotel for Easter Brunch yesterday. What a disaster! The Ocean Grille is unimpressive in general (the teenager of the group likened it to a 'old folk's home' dining room!). The buffet was laid out from the lobby area back towards the dining room. To say that the buffet was unimpressive as well would be giving it too much credit. It was a combination of breakfast items and lunch/dinner items. The carving station had ham, prime rib and leg of lamb. Among the six of us, most of the offers were sampled. The meats were dry and only warmish. The eggs were dreadful, tasteless and cold. The bacon and sausage was only warmish. The Chicken Marsala was tough and cold, the red potatoes were also cold and bland. Then came the bill-yikes! We had found the Brunch on Florida Today. We were deciding between the Hilton and the Crowne Plaza both at the Oceanfront. We ended up choosing the Hilton based on the times available, as both were priced the same, or at least so we thought. When the bill arrived, each individual was priced $10 higher than we found online, which btw I had confirmed when I called. The adults were charged $39.95 each, wow! The price we had seen was $29.95 for adults, $25.95 for seniors and $22.95 for children 12 and under. We asked to speak to a manager who told us that those were 2 year old prices, however he graciously adjusted the bill. One other issue that we found was that a 21% mandatory gratuity was added to the bill, for a buffet?? Seriously, wouldn't go back for anything-I'm a Hilton Platinum member and always stay at Hilton properties when I travel. I have never seen a property like this in the Hilton family-they should be ashamed. read more
