I came here with one of my best friends last night. "Off season" and it was still busy. I really love being by the beach so the ocean mist has always been a place to relax and have a couple of beers. This is just the first time I've gotten down to reviewing- and it deserves every positive review. We ordered the pepe loco burger and the fish tacos. Both were very tasty. Don't be afraid to hunt down a server for menus- they will gladly bring them over. We didn't end up staying for the show that night (we're getting "old" lol) but we plan to come back for a show in June. The view from the deck is unreal! I don't understand why this place has such a high rating. Not in a million years would I patronize this dump again. The staff is extraordinarily rude and incompetent. The food is terrible, the atmosphere is lousy. It's a living breathing health violation, and you are not welcome here. Not to mention, I was over-charged and had to argue my bill. And it was quite an argument. As best I can tell, they deliberately overcharge you in hopes that you will just pay it. A criminal establishment, enter at your own risk!! This spot sits directly on the beach/water in Wakefield and has a wrap around outside deck to watch nearby surfers out on the water! The place looks a bit run down from the outside and is an older place more frequented by locals and bikers. It is a club as well where live bands play on weekends and it is quite large inside. The interior is a regular beach bar with a nice bar and lots of seating and space. The big attraction here is the outside wrap around deck that you can sit out and drink in the summer and have waves slapping up against the side of the place. Visit here when a storm is coming and you will see the ocean get active. This is a big surfing area for people and you can watch them right from this place. The drinks are average and the food is all pub/ bar food, but its a good place to grab a drink and relax in the summertime! Worth a visit! read more

I love this place. Really can't say enough about it. The food is always great which is really quite strange for a dive. Serving staff including bartenders are friendly and fast. Lot's of liquor and beer choices combined with an amazing view right on the ocean (literally on it). In a clear day you can look over at Block Island with a Monkey Punch or Guinness in hand. If your in South County, this IS the place to go drink. Right on the Ocean, always a cool staff running the place. Parking isn't too tough to find, the other patrons tend to be easy going, cool people, the food is always excellent and fairly priced, they get many good musical acts to come perform. Why not 5 stars? Well the booze is over-priced and I have seen enough shows to say they need to hire a better sound guy or someone who is reliable. I am not picking on any one sound guy in particular, as in all the years I have been going there, there have been several different ones and a bad sound guy can run a great night. But please don't dwell on my negative comments, I do love this place and I will continue to go there and continue to spend lots of $ there. Used to be a fan of Ocean Mist until today. Sat down, and waited about 15 minutes before seeing a waiter. He came over and took our entire order at once (no introduction, didn't ask what kind of toast we wanted, all bad). We sat for another hour and 15 minutes where the only thing we were served was 1 cup of coffee. Left without eating, and took our business elsewhere. It's a shame. read more

Just returned home from being away for over two months and I think it's time for another yelp review. Living in the state of Rhode Island for my entire life and spending quite some time in the South County area I never got the chance to try Ocean Mist. Decided to go here for breakfast this morning and it was arguably the best breakfast burrito I have ever had. Extremely filling and was at a competitive price compared the other breakfast places in the local area. There was a great view of the water and the atmosphere truly fit its "just a beach bar" feel. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast I left there full and satisfied. read more

We have been to the Ocean Mist many times but this past Sundays experience was by far the worst. We usually go to hear the band and have a few drinks - USUALLY as good time. This past Sunday we arrived around 11- 11:30 with a group of 9. We were told it would be approx 2 hour wait for a table. Well after waiting patiently for 2 hours (band had not started yet but we were out on the deck enjoying the weather and friendship) they finally told us our table was ready - we were shown to a table for 4 - did I mention there were 9 of us? We told the hostesses that the table would not be big enough for 9 people and we were told that's all they had and if we wanted to wait it would be a little longer. We decided to wait so that we could all sit together - what a mistake - after another 20 minutes and watching several groups get seated one of our party decided to complain. They got into a "discussion over math and service" with what I can only describe as a poor excuse for a Bouncer. We were then told we would be seated soon - 5 minutes later we were escorted out by the town police dept. I have never been so upset and embarrassed. We were treated like criminals for no other reason than we wanted to eat together as a group. We were all dressed respectably, clean and were not drunk (even the policemen said it was obvious we were not drunk but we had to leave). A few of our group had on what would be considered "Biker" apparel to which the owner made reference to our being associated with bike clubs and dirty bikers. We never mentioned any clubs or made any threats but we being profiled as "Bikers" - Oh I forgot to mention we were not on bikes this day, we drove the Cadillac because of the threat of thunder storms. I have never been treated so badly at an establishment and we will never being going there again. They do not value repeat customers, they do not value "Bikers", and they do not value the effect of social media. When we mentioned that we would be blasting them online the owner said "go ahead, I've been here for many years and will continue to be here for many more - I dont care what you put online about me". Just because its on the Ocean does not make up for the complete lack of customer service and the degrading behavior that was shown to our group. I will take my friends and my money to Westerly beaches and establishments that truely value a customer - like the Haversham or The Andrea come to mind. Ya, we'll go there. read more

Best place ever. Always. Food, view, service and people. Every person I bring here is completely floored by the vibe. I've grown up with it and still covet it as my favorite place of all time. I go for brunch and then move to sit in the sun....and more often than not, I'm still there when the nightly entertainment starts. The Mist IS vacation for me. read more

After reading all the positive reviews, I was expecting to be wow'ed by Ocean Mist. Sure the view is beautiful, nothing beats being right by the ocean, but the food was really lacking for me. I ordered the Mexican Omelette ($10.99) with avocado, beans, fresh tomato salsa, pepper-jack cheese, topped with sour cream & jalapenos. It came with home fries and wheat toast. My omelette was sadly overcooked and much of the filling was only on one side of the omelette which meant I was just eating overcooked eggs for the other. My toast was not so much toast as cold bread with butter. Thankfully the home fries were good, not crispy how I usually like them but still good. My boyfriend had the Breakfast Burrito ($10.25) though which is his favorite thing to order here. He finished his plate and said it was great as usual. Others at our table enjoyed the Lobster Benny (market price) and Crabby Benny ($12.50) so that might also be something good to try! I have been coming to ocean mist for 10 years now for ticket tuesday. It is every Tuesday night 9pm-1pm, you pay $5 for admittance and they give you 2 drink tickets for either well alcohol or beers on tap. It's right on the beach and the reggae music the Dj spins is awesome. read more

Ok, I'm knocking a star off for the wait. We waited over an hour to be seated. That may be in part to having a party of 7, but it was awhile to wait. Luckily, we did wait. Because, the food was great. We had breakfast and there were some really cool funky options. I got one of their several benedicts. I can't remember what it was called but it came with sausage and chipotle hollandaise. Which was awesome. The home fries were pretty good. But I am a sucker for cornbread. I saw one of the other benedicts came with it, so I ordered a side, grilled. Holy crap was it good!! I'd go back just for that!! The Ocean Mist is a great dive bar, with hot live music. They also serve a killer breakfast. That being said, don't go here if you are looking for cleanliness, because the place is grungy. That gives it character in my opinion. We went here for breakfast and Bloody Marys. Delicious, tingly Bloody Mary and good coffee. I ordered the California Benedict, with avocado, bacon, and tomato. It was delicious; the eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was perfectly seasoned. It is one of my go-to breakfast spots in South County. read more
