The delivery guy is extremely rude. I placed my order on eat24 at 9pm, tipped ~15% of the order. At 9:30pm, the delivery guy showed up, slammed at my door very hard immediately after ringing the doorbell. I opened the door and greeted him. Without saying a word, he held the receipt at my face. That was my first time ordering from this place so I assumed he didn't speak English. I signed the receipt. He said "We close 9:30". I realized I made a mistake and didn't check their closing time. I then politely apologized. The guy just kept looking at me with a look I cannot describe, like he was holding a great grudge against me, and shook his head. As I finished signing the receipt, he just took it from my hands and walked away. Other thoughts: Very shocked and angry. I've never been treated by a restaurant staff the same way this delivery guy treated me ever. I rarely write reviews, and when I do, I write for good service/product only. But today I find myself making this yelp account (redirected from eat24 as they don't not have a reviews function) to give my thoughts about this restaurant and my experience. I'm not sure how this all works but the restaurant should really fix their taking order hours on eat24 so their staff wouldn't have to work extra hours (minutes) in case there is another careless customer like myself. I used to work at SFO airport and this is the place where I get my Chinese food before heading to work. I love their food and the servings are pretty good. I placed my order online and I did receive it fast. When I paid on line I put a $2.00 tip. When the food was delivered the man argued with me he wanted 15% Tip. I told him I already paid for the tip and he continued to argue saying he wanted his 15%. The more he argued the more I was getting angry. I love this place. I'm from the East coast and this may be the only Chinese restaurant in the bay area (minus dim sum) I've tried that I can stand. I've never been in, only ordered, but I've ordered 15 times or more and I don't think I've ever been let down by any dish. Personal favorites are: crab rangoon, salt and pepper fish, fried garlic wings, cashew chicken. Fried rice wasn't "east coast" (read: dark and oily), but it was the best I've had out here. I continued to order from this place only because they're cheap & they deliver which is convenient. I've ordered 3 times from this place & each time there were issues. first experience is documented in my previous review, second time they sent the wrong item (Mongolian beef instead of Mongolian chicken) but my bf & I were starving so we ate it anyway, & third time the sauce from my noodles had spilled all over the inside of the bag yet again! Also, given my not so stellar experiences, this time I opted not to include a tip when ordering online. I personally tip based on whether I'm satisfied with my service & not simply because a delivery person is doing the job they're already being paid to do. When the delivery guy arrived, he was not friendly at all. He never said a single word to me, not even a "Hi" so based on my previous experiences & his lack of service, I decided I wasn't including a tip (which I'm sure some of you think is harsh but I've worked in customer service for years & I know what "good" customer service is plus I do tip very well to those who deserve it) The guy stood at my door and said "you forgot the tip" & stared at me as I'm trying to close the door. now, seeing this man knows where I live, I'm not trying to cause a scene cuz you never know what some people are capable of so I hand over the minimum 10% just to get him to leave but I absolutely HATE when tips are solicited. This was the only place open on Black Friday Nov 25th around the San Bruno area. First went by Vietnam Village closed till Monday, Tastebuds closed, Akagi closed till Monday. Ocean Palace was open. Ordering maybe a challenge, the waitress didn't really understand much. We had to point at the names on the menu which dishes we wanted. When another customer came in to order to go, he asked for beef noodles, and she had no idea what noodles were at all. I'd assume noodles were the same as chow mein. She never gave us our utensils, we just grabbed them from other open tables. There were 6 of us, we asked for water, somehow she forgot, then we reminded her, then she brought over 4 waters. I guess she couldn't count up to 6 people. When we received our food, is was greasy and full of msg which means full of flavor. It was decent. When the bill came, we couldn't read it at all. There was only one set of numbers in the top right it looked like ~$40 dollars maybe. We asked the waitress if the bill was $40, she said yes, alright 6 dishes for $40. read more

My granddaughter and I ordered from Ocean Palace through EAT24.com for today's lunch and we were delighted with their quick delivery, freshly made and delicious food, and most especially lower priced than the other similar establishments with comparable cuisine. My granddaughter ordered Sizzling Rice Soup (she was craving for long) and I ordered the wor Wonton Soup and the Garlic Squid with Steamed rice. I was surprised how delicious and carefully prepared and clean the food was ~ still steaming hot when we received them. Well, the food was fine, and served hot. I phoned ahead, and the order was ready on time. However, I may have ordered the wrong things: my chow fun (quite greasy and lacking that nice smokey flavor) and chicken with snow peas (fresh and tasty) were too similar to each other, probably should have had something spicy in the mix. I also ordered 2 apps: one of my favorite things to order at a Chinese food place, green onion pancake, was crisp and perfectly browned, but the filling was so salty that I couldn't eat it. However, the star of the meal was the fried shrimp. I ordered it on a whim, and it was fantastic. Super-crisp batter, coating succulent and tender tail-free shrimp? Perfection. (And the shrimp is what saved the review from being 1.5 stars!) One more tiny complaint: there were no fortune cookies in the take-out bag! read more

I would not eat here EVER AGAIN. I was told FREE DELIVERIES on orders $15 or more. Then the lady over the phone says oh yeah, you need to tip the driver...so I said, but I only have credit on me, so she says, okay I'll make your bill to $20...and I said sure that's fine. Then when the delivery arrives, he demands for another tip! making it to $25!!! I told him i already tipped him through the bill and that will be between him and the clerk who rang up my order. He refused to leave so I basically paid him $5 to leave. UNBELIEVABLE, $25 from 15 to 25!!! Then 6 days later my bank calls me and says I have been a victim of identity theft and my account is being "locked"! I stopped by to get a large order of won ton soup on 1/20 at 2:30 and there were two people eating there, one lady sitting at a table rolling won tons with no gloves on and a man at the counter. The man asks me what I wanted so I tell him and he asked me if I phoned it in and I say no, so I pay $ 6.50 and sit down, he then sits down and starts to roll the won ton without washing his hands after handing all the money and paper who knows what else. The two guys finished eating and one asked where the sink was and the lady said in the back, he comes out looks in at the cook and they leave a $ 1.00 tip.After the lady was done cleaning the table and complaining about the tip she went right back to rolling the won ton without washing her hands. I live close by and been living in the area since 06' so i have been ordering from this place for a while. Overall the food is ok if you eat in, however if you ask for delivery you sometime will get cold food, it will take very long or get there very quick which will make you wonder, and they will always forget the fortune cookies and hot sauce (unless you make it extremley clear over and over to them on the phone). Twice i have had prawns not cleaned and cooked with the guts still in them and what seemed to be like rocks when they were checked along with the broccoli, and twice i have had food diareah for a day (me and my whole family, my children were worse they vomitted). This made me come to a conclusion, my buisness with Ocean Palace is over. Only because i even once witnessed while waiting for my food in that little tiny window while they were cooking, the cook using the same frying pan for differnt meats one after another after another.
