Ocean Prime was a date-night splurge during a midwinter break of many other splurges. The start of date night was made happier by nearby easy parking in the city garage at 4th Ave and 8th St. Upon entry, the first thing I noticed was how loud OP was! In this case, it was a sign of good times, as the noise was mainly table conversations in a full house. Our open-table reservation was ready, and we were seated at a table near the "wine wall." After pondering the possibilities, our evening went like this: *Cocktails: "Take two" for her: Strawberry-Infused Botanist Gin, Mango, Citrus Basil, Foam; a bourbon old-fashioned for him: Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon, Aperol, Simple Syrup, Angostura Aromatic Bitters (a cherry too, perhaps Luxardo). *We made the strategic decision to avoid soups/salads to make sure there was room for dessert, and went directly to entrees: Chilean Sea Bass (best seller, we hear) for her: Broccolini, Pearl Onion, Potato Puree, Truffle Vinaigrette; and the Halibut special with gnocchi for him. Both EXCELLENT! A glass of Sauvignon Blanc with each. *Dessert: Crème Brulée for her, a much anticipated Ten Layer Carrot Cake for him, and decaf coffee + cream for both. Was saving room for dessert worth it? Yes, absolutely. My compliments to Todd, perhaps the best server I remember during the past year. Why? He seemed to have no agenda except to please the customer. There was no pressure to order quickly, and nothing about our order fazed him. Gluten-free requests were handled flawlessly. No soup or salad? Our server was more than attentive and a ball of energy which created nice laughs for the evening. Unfortunately, the main courses being our steaks, did not match. The cook of the steak was in fact medium rare as ordered, however, when we cut our steaks, immediately you could tell how tough the meat was. I'm not sure if these steaks are frozen or simply a poor quality of cut, but it shouldn't take more than 3 business days to chew a steak. The winner of our meal was in fact the sonoma ravioli. It was very rich and decadent. I also suggest the gouda tater tots and truffle mac & cheese. I'd skip the creamed spinach as it lacked flavor and was a bit runny. The ambiance was high energy, great for big parties and dates as well. Perhaps the seafood entrees may be better as I did notice other parties ordering those items. THE HELP- A +++ Upon arrival we were greeted by a beautiful set of host ladies who escorted us to a full window seat. Another person who was very polite pours us some water and takes a beverage order. Then our super polite waiter comes over for questions & order. He was fantastic and his talents are wasted here cause he could be a great one. THE FOOD: F - FAIL Ok so now is the drama part of our evening. We ordered a rib eye ( MEDIUM ) and Filet ( MEDIUM ) well our steak arrive and both are CRISP with grey insides , YES OVER COOKED! My lady is now pissed so she points it out to waiter he is apologetic. He then reviews mine and says he will bring new steaks out... So as I grow older and famished a new set of steaks arrive and a second set of items accompanied it. THE FILET is now burnt on outside and purple not cooked in middle and my ribeye is the same. However no steak juices even flowed from hers. It was like a hockey puck from Florida Panthers was served... Mine had zero taste but has juices on the plate. The waiter came back and saw it an apologized profusely. He comped her steak but I'm thinking what the hell is going on in the kitchen. Ever hear of a meat thermometer guys??? No the funny thing was is the couple behind us was from Boston also and he was complaining about the same thing. I watched as he tried to stab his fork into the meat like the flag on Iwo Jima except he could even pierce the meat it was so rock solid... Good thing they purchased a few bottles of wine to forget the experience as well. But I did laugh at his steak misery... My fries , corn & house salad were excellent with no complaints. My desert of carrot cake was Decadent and best thing about my experience at Ocean Prime... THE AMBIANCE: A+++ OP had a great vibe from the moment you saw the outside till you stepped inside. First class decor you'd expect from a swanky place. Our window seat gave a great view of the courtyard for people watching and I'm gonna say the candles in the bathroom gave an Aromatic refreshing scent to a place that normally needs it after a steak dinner. Ocean Prime in Naples absolutely lived up to the hype. We started with their signature smoky cocktail -- the Berries & Bubbles -- and honestly, it was a show all by itself. The waiter pours everything tableside over dry ice and the smoke just rolls out and sizzles everywhere. Super fun presentation, but more importantly, the drink actually tasted amazing: refreshing, balanced, high-quality, and not overly sweet. We ordered a couple sushi rolls to start and they were excellent: fresh, clean flavors, beautifully done, and a great way to kick things off. For my main, I got the twin lobster tails, which were cooked perfectly and served with real melted butter (not butter flavored liquid margarine you get at a lot of places). You could really taste the quality. The service was next-level. Truly impeccable. Every sip, every first bite, our server was right there checking in, but never in an annoying way. Ocean Prime gets the entirety 5 stars from me. I had a great date night here recently. Parking was easy. There is a free parking garage behind the restaurant and it was a very short walk. When we got to the doors, we checked in and there were a few people waiting in this small area for their table. There are no seats so it became crowded. The bar was also full at this time (7PM on a Friday). We got called to our table within 5 minutes and the magic began. I loved everything I ordered. The wagyu and salmon belly nigiri. If I had to choose between the 2, I would choose the salmon belly. I also really liked the Ribeye I ordered. It was cooked to perfection! There are sauce accompaniments on the menu but I had a free house au ju sauce to pair with the 16oz ribeye. My date and I split the twin lobster tails, miso broccoli, and the whipped mashed potatoes. I haven't had a lobster tail that delicious in a while! They of course deshell it for you. Our server provided fine dining service and was excellent. Had an incredible meal here! The restaurant is stunning, service impeccable, and the food absolutely outstanding. If you're in the mood for a lively atmosphere, great food, and delicious drinks, this is the place to be. We kicked off our meal with the complimentary bread, the prime roll (definitely a must-try), and the deviled eggs. We paired it with a round of drinks--the berry and bubbles is always a hit. The espresso martini was the best I've ever had, and the option to add Baileys for a creamier finish was a nice touch. Next, we dug into the salads and soups. The French onion soup was a crowd favorite, but honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the soups or salads on the menu. For our mains, we went with a mix of filets and the sea bass, and we added the creamed bacon spinach (another essential dish)--everything was exceptional. I really enjoyed this nice dinner on 5th. It's certainly a more expensive meal but also not bad for Naples on 5th Ave. the service was great and everyone was nice and friendly. It's very efficient with someone seating you, serving drinks, bringing bread, etc. For the food, I'd give 4/5 overall. I had steak and my husband had risotto. The free bread was a nice touch and I did enjoy the rich chocolate dessert! I would come back to try something else. The ambiance was good and the service was very good but the steak was terrible. I eat at expensive steak houses quite regularly in New York and Florida and I heard that Ocean Prime was good. I ordered the 12 once Dry Aged New York Strip, medium rare. When it came, it seemed substantially smaller than 12 ounces. The outside was a weird light pale brown color. The inside was pink. It was completely tasteless. It felt like it had been recently defrosted in a microwave and then cooked. Even though it was small, I left a quarter of it. I don't mind paying a lot for excellent food but this was no where near excellent. I will never go back. read more

The music was a little too loud for my liking but we were towards They started us off with warm pretzel and sourdough bread with whipped butter. I'd get both appetizers again. - Chilean sea bass: this was the best dish I tried this night. The fish itself was tender with a crispy exterior, and the sauce went so well with the broccoli and potatoes - Florida grouper was tough for a fish but the Lobster, gnocchi and other accompaniments were tasty enough. It has more of a tomato taste, and I liked the sea bass sauce more - Brussels sprouts were very good and a slight caramelized taste. The jalapeño au gratin needed salt which we asked for it and after we added, was much better. - the 8 oz filet and the 16 oz ribeye tasted similar to me but my companions enjoyed them. - the twin lobster tails were well seasoned and came with a butter and burner. For dessert, we got the chocolate peanut butter mousse (which was not too sweet and not too decadent - my favorite of the 3), butter cake (it was complimentary for birthday! I've had better but it was still good with the ice cream), and the 5 layer carrot cake (it was surprisingly too sweet - perhaps too much pineapple syrup). For drinks, we got the albarino (somewhat similar to the sauv blancs), the malbec (favorite of the 3, good with the steak), and the French pinot noir (not my favorite). We had a terrific dinner at Ocean Prime last night. Despite being at capacity they seated us right on time. Gave the 2 of us a 4-top on covered outdoor terrace. It had ceiling fans and a nice view of Naples Players Theater Plaza. Service was prompt & attentive, but never rushed. Marija offered great recommendations that worked well together. For apps we had the Hamachi Crudo with pickled mango and seaweed salad, as well as the Spicy Tuna Roll, which had just enough kick. Both were as authentic as anything we've had in Japan. For main course my wife enjoyed the halibut special. One thing I liked is that Marija quoted us the price wihout asking: right in in line with the other entrees and no worrying about 'sticker shock' check surprises at end of the meal. I had the pork chop, where getting it tender challenges many chefs. This one delivered: Perfectly done and seasoned just right. It doesn't come with vegetables so Marija suggested a half side of miso-chili broccoli, which was a great pairing. As we came in I noticed a lot of diners leaving with leftovers: portions were generous and we did same. For dessert, diners at next table raved about their giant 10 layer carrot cake. Marija offered me an off-the-menu 5-layer option that hit the spot. My wife had the flourless dark chocolate torte and ended up taking half home with us- it was very generous and really delicious. Bill was accurate and you pay at table on handheld terminals- no handing over your card and waiting. One of the more expensive restaurants we've eaten at here, but worth every dollar. I only go in during Happy Hour to see if i see any familiar or appealing women to meet & greet, and wind up walking out otherwise. Most of the staff is of poor quality and i would never eat there because of that, not to mention the prices are sky high and unsure how much longer that can be sustained as a business. Not melt in your mouth like I have had here in the past, but not bad. 10 layer carrot cake is excellent. Tito's cosmo was excellent, $19.50. Pricey but not unexpected at Ocean Prime. We were surprised when we got the bill the Jordan Cab was $59 a glass! The menu we received noted $20, however, we learned AFTER that was only for 3 ounces. And this was a Sunday night before Thanksgiving. The place def needs some noise damping ceilings, less glass, and more barriers. For the price you pay it is not worth the noise in the restaurant. The only thing worse than our meal here was the service--and that's saying something. We booked far in advance, excited to try what's supposed to be one of the standout dinners of our trip. Instead, it turned into the biggest letdown of our vacation. For starters, ignore the reviews raving about the "free" bread basket--nothing here is free, though ironically the bread was the best thing we ate all night. Our appetizers (jumbo lump crab cocktail, shrimp cocktail, and French onion soup) were served with a side of attitude. When we asked for extra horseradish, instead of a simple "of course," we got a smug "you won't need it." Spoiler alert: we absolutely did, because what they served might as well have been ketchup. Then we waited ages for our server to reappear just so we could ask again. Entrée time didn't get better. Every order came with an aggressive upsell pitch--truly a buzzkill. The so-called "king" crab legs were a pricey disappointment (you're better off grabbing snow crab at Pinchers in Tin City). The scallop special was even worse: the plate was hotter than the food, the three scallops were rubbery, flavorless little pucks, and the stuffed shells were an embarrassment to the word "stuffed." We sent it back and told them to remove it from the check--after, once again, waiting forever for our server to surface. Their "mashed potatoes" remain a mystery: thin, soupy, and oddly reminiscent of grits. The steaks were warm, at least, and the creamed spinach was solid--but that's the end of the compliments. Yes, they comped the awful scallop dish, but trust me, we wouldn't have paid for it anyway. Don't let the crowds fool you. Save your money, your time, and your appetite--there are far better places to eat. read more

The food was fantastic with great speed and taste of all the food Only issue was our server we saw a total of 4 times once for the drinks, second for the appetizer, third for the meal, and the 4th was 50 minutes after taking our order to give us the bill. Didn't get a second drink, refill on waters, nor did we receive steak knifes for or steaks. To be out on an anniversary dinner and to get that quality of service was very poor.
