Walking into the lobby, we were greeted by a dress code sign that basically screamed, "No board shorts, no problem!" I dig it--being near all those tourist traps, they're clearly guarding the gates of fine dining like it's a secret society. It sets the stage for that "we're fancy and we know it" vibe, which, let's be honest, is half the fun. Our guests were already at the table, which was so perfectly placed I wondered if they hired a feng shui consultant. Our waiter--let's call him Captain Charisma--glided in like he was born to serve seafood towers. Speaking of, we ordered one, and it arrived looking like Neptune's Pinterest board. The ladies went for cocktails with names fancier than my last vacation, while the guys sipped red wine and champagne from a wine cellar that probably has its own fan club. Here's where it gets good: Captain C didn't even let us peek at the menu. He just recommended our entire meal like some culinary psychic. I went with the Halibut special, paired with a glass of wine he picked. Nailed it. The fish was so good, I almost forgot how to blink. The whole night, the service was so polished it felt like we were dining in a movie about rich people--charming, but just a smidge fake, like they rehearsed their smiles in a mirror. Price? No idea--client covered the $2,300 tab (before tip), so I just nodded and enjoyed the ride. Ocean Prime, you're a 5-star pageant of decadence, and I'm already plotting my next visit. Came here with a large group and we were sat in their large room by the entrance, it was perfect! This same group had been to another popular steakhouse in the area just a few nights before, and they could not stop talking about how much better this place was! Because of the group size we had several waiters to help us, and they were wonderful! After our cocktails the server directed us to our table. A large bottle of sparkling water and a bottle of sauvignon blanc. For dinner I ordered oysters, cracked king crab, and butter cake for dessert. The oysters came with lemon, horseradish, and cocktail sauce. They were expertly shucked, clean, and tasty. My cracked king crab arrived. They give you a very generous amount of beautiful, tasty, and expertly cracked king crab. It is accompanied by a little pan of butter under heat, a very nice touch. The buttercup was accompanied by a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream and cream. The cake itself was very tasty, dense, and moist. The ice cream was very fresh, creamy, and flavorful. I was in town for a work function and a friend recommended we meet there for dinner. Service was top notch. Jesse was great with the drink, appetizer, main, and dessert recommendations. The table shared the calamari and the Ahi tuna. Both had excellent presentation, tasted great and the portions were large enough for four people to share two appetizers. I selected the Scallops over risotto. These were some of the best scallops in terms of texture and firmness and flavor. I was a little disappointed that I only received four - in my opinion, six would have been a better portion size based on the size of the scallops. The table again shared two desserts and thoroughly enjoyed them. We had the 10 layer carrot cake and the warm butter cake. Both portions were large and very tasty. A few days ago, my husband and I went to Ocean Prime before going to a theater performance. It was our first time eatthere and we both really enjoyed it. The ambiance is GREAT! Dimmy lit, classy yet edgy decor, and the round tables in the bar area are so private and nice. Our server was also the bartender, but she still provided amazing service. I started out with the black orchid cocktail, which was sweet and delicious. We split the deviled eggs, goat cheese ravioli, Beet and goat cheese salad, the grouper, and the warm butter cake. The deviled eggs were good, but I've had better. The goat cheese ravioli was savory and delicious. The goat cheese and Beet salad was perfectly earthy and fresh. The grouper was fresh, savory, and a good portion. The warm butter cake was moist, sweet, and enough to have Leftovers. It was a pricey meal, but it was a quality meal. We came to celebrate our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. To start, I ordered the cucumber gimlet (refreshing, balanced, secretly strong) and a crab cake appetizer. The crab cake was all crab with a delightful crust & lemon aioli. For the main, though I absolutely hate getting the same dish (I like trying and sharing), we both got the Chilean sea bass. It was absolutely amazing--light, buttery and it came with a side. I opted to swap for jalapeño au gratin and my bf got garlic mashed. Both delicious! We were too full for dessert, but our server surprised us with mango sorbet. We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary here, and we had the BEST time! We had a very private booth, decorated with rose petals and a card written to us by the staff. It was some of the best service we have ever had at a restaurant. They made our anniversary dinner so special. Now let's talk about the food.... Listen.... Twin lobster tails were heavenly!! We had an all-around amazing experience! The place is very cute with an old world charm. The service from our waitress was above and beyond. Very friendly and lots of good recommendations. The manager, Carrie Ann, stopped by and was super sweet. We really felt like our business was appreciated. The food was all delicious! It's tossed in sweet chili sauce and it added wonderful flavor and came as a great portion. We also went with the surf and turf appetizer. I saw surf and turf on a previous menu as an entree which I planned to order but it was only served on the menu as an appetizer when we went. I wish it was still an entree because this was a winner dish!! The short rib was fantastically tender and had great deep flavor, and scallops were cooked perfectly. Please order these two appetizers! Thank me later! I got the 8oz filet mignon, oscar style. It was cooked perfectly med rare and my server gave me an extra side of the sauce without my asking. The asparagus it came with was very soft and I loved it. My hubby got the chilean sea bass and it was delicious and fresh, and he especially loved the potatoes it came with. We had to save room for dessert, and our server told us about what they had to offer, and we went with the carrot cake once she said no nuts and no raisins. It was about 10 layers and had a great cream cheese dressing, with little hints of coconut and pineapple without it being too overpowering. The plate came with some pineapple sauce and whipped cream. This is the BEST carrot cake EVER! I would come back just for this 100%. Hope that's allowed! ;) Overall this was a great dinner and I'll cherish the experience forever! I gave 3 stars because i did not feel the food and drinks were worth the price. We ordered the following: Goat cheese ravioli with mushrooms and sundried tomatoes : $19 appetizer that came with tiny raviolis that in my opinion were a little too salty, but maybe that should be expected with goat cheese. I also did not see or taste mushrooms. They must have been completely blended into the goat cheese filling. Still tasty, just would not order again. Jumbo lump crab cakes: keep in mind the appetizer comes with 1 crab cake for $24. Delicious though. Had a lot of crab. I probably would order it again if i was craving a good crab cake. prime roll: $23 sushi roll wrapped with thin rare prime beef and filled with tempura shrimp. Sounds unique right? It was tasty but if it didn't have the beef at all, i wouldn't have tasted the difference. spicy tuna roll: $24 and quite tasty! It is topped with a LOT of spicy mayo though (mixed with chunks of raw tuna). That one was my boyfriend's favorite. For cocktails, we tried the tequila cocktail (good but not mind blowing) and the pineapple picante (delicious!!! but, very VERY weak!!!!) I had 2 pineapple picante drinks on an empty stomach, which for me should have at least given me a little buzz. I didn't feel a thing. So it was definitely weak. And that was disappointing. Made a dinner reservation for 7 the day of and received exceptional service from Josh and the entire staff. We really appreciated the accommodations made by management. We were seated in a private room and able to view the games (for our guests with FOMO). Josh took impeccable care of us. Several of us have food allergies. I had a Prime Manhattan and the aroma and taste were five star to me. Our server (Gina) was exceptional and super professional. She explained the menu with such detail and passion that you wanted to try every item on the menu. She recommended the fried calamari and it did not disappoint. We also had the Surf n Turf appetizer and it delicious! Our friends all had outstanding dinners and would go back to enjoy the same plates (fillet mignon, sea bass, snapper). She made it a point everything is made upon request and we asked for jalapeño on our fish and the Executive Chef Pratt specially added some spice to our plate (we truly enjoyed that special touch). I am not a big cake person but the server sold us on it and I'm so glad he did! It was the most delicious cake I've ever had. The only reason this has 4 stars instead of 5, is because of the menu items not being available at the time. Our server told us about this amazing special and sold us on it, especially my husband (we were there for his birthday). Come to find out, the special was already sold out for the night. Then we ordered a very popular cocktail on the menu. A few mins later our server comes back to tell us it's no longer available. Then an appetizer, same thing. Little frustrating to place 3 different orders just for the server to come back moments later (after taking our menus) to tell us to choose something else. It's been over 6+ years since eating at an Ocean Prime in DC but the delay was worth the bonus, celebrity treatment I received last night. Melt in your mouth truffle popcorn to start, happy hour deals worth stacking (sushi, cocktails, house wines that were far from low end), west coast oysters that were briny and different than my usual east coast choices, wonderful grilled lobster tail and a piece of Berkshire pork worth picking up the bone by hand to finish off. I'm so thankful my teenager wanted to 'stay in' last night so Mama could splurge like the old days. The fanciest place we've been to that wasn't pretentious and just overall a fantastic experience. The old saying you get what you pay for is on point here. Steaks are a la carte but our seafood meals came with perfect accompaniments. Cocktails were well executed as were the appetizers.
