This place is so affordable! Single scoop in a cup was just 2.50! However if your transaction is under 10 dollars they do charge you a 50 cent credit card fee! So bring cash! I tried their classic vanilla which looked like a mango but trust me it's so goooood!! Also tried the burnt milk and it reminds me of a horchata and a big red gum!

Cute little Mexican ice cream store located in Oceanside. They have many flavors to choose from. My favorites are rice, cotton candy, pineapple, and guava. One scoop was $1.75 and you can choose to have it in a cup or cone. Since it's been hot and humid these days there always a long line. Not a comfortable nor large area for sitting. Service was quick and you can get your ice cream fast.

Stopped in for some ice cream on a Sunday afternoon. There was only a small line. I was surprised at how many flavors there were to choose from! I'm a new transplant and was introduced to new flavors that I have never seen before, such as Mamey, a warm weather fruit. I tasted it, it was very good, subtle vanilla flavors. However, I was drawn to the vibrant sorbet colors. They had one called "Cactus Juice", whichI assumed by the color is Prickly Pear. I got a scoop of that and a scoop of Pineapple. The Cactus Juice was sweet and refreshing, a beautiful bright magenta. The Pineapple had small chunks in it which was awesome, and it was a night yellow. Both were deeee-lush and I can't wait to try their other flavors. Oh, and it was in the $2-3 price range. Unreal!!

Found this on Yelp, and it's a winner! We could not believe we paid "only" $8 for three ice cream orders. In today's world, that is a bargain, unless you go to a fast food restaurant for a cone. I tried the burnt milk, based on another review, and it was good... But both my husband and me thought it tasted like pumpkin..! Weird, I know! This place is my favorite in all of Oceanside!! Quality and delicious ice creams! From your basic strawberry and mango to rice to tequila ! The cactus fruit (seasonally) is. Dry delicious! We came here based on the reviews and I am so glad we did. I had a scoop of Burnt Milk and a scoop of Rice. My husband and daughters got Oreo. It cost us less than $6 for all four of us. The employee that helped us was very patient and shared with us which flavors he liked most. He offered us several samples. We will definitely be back. read more

DISFRUTA IS 100000000x BETTER! Decided to try this place out since it had such high reviews but was kinda disappointed. I've been too Disfruta[similar style place]a few times and wanted to try it out. It was not bad but I guess I just expected a lot more. Disfruta kills this place by a lot! Same kind of ice cream[Thrifty] but much more selections of desert. They are both Mexican style deserts but Disfruta has better choices and just a better environment. read more

I hate this place!!! I don't recommend coming here because they are very rude and they gave me a bad look, I paid $7.50 just for 2 small Ice creams. They have you wait there for quite awhile and there were only 3 customers in front of me. It took about 15 minutes to be exact. I will find out who the manager is and complain. Worst customer service ever!!! read more

I absolutely Love the homemade ice cream here!! They have so many different flavors and it's conveniently pretty close to me. The only downside is they close at 8:00 Every single night, even on the weekends!:(( Usually we crave ice cream later in the evening after dinner, but 5 out of 10 times, they are already closed and we are disappointed and have to drive much further to go somewhere else.. Please expand your hours. Especially in the summertime! read more

Can I just say I am not a sweets person. I stopped by here because the wife stumbled upon this place and raved all about it. So we stop by and I'm like "meh" just another ice cream shop. She tells me to try it and I sample a few flavors and it was like an explosion of flavors. OK, not that extreme but it was good. I had watermelon and key lime for $1.50. The sorbet is light and doesn't seem heavy like what you would find at coldstone. Our second visit we tried this creme with strawberry and granola thing. It was oh so good. Now I come here on the regular without the wife. Hopefully she doesn't find out and she doesn't read my reviews. read more

Love Ocean rainbow! It is a hole in the wall mexican ice cream shop that always has a line out the door but is worth the wait... The scoops are smaller than something at Baskin Robbins but you can get a double scoop for $1.50! They have the typical ice cream flavors like rainbow sherbet but also mexican flavors like chile mango or my favorites rice and burnt milk. They also have other mexican treats like chimango- which is 4 scoops of mango/lime ice cream with chile, hot sauce and mangos- trust me its awesome. Since it is a small shop and is always busy it is a little run down and dingy but really- who cares when you can get 2 scoops of ice cream for $1.50. read more

I live fairly close to this place. Every time I take the turn at Los Arbolitos Blvd I always see this very long long line outside this ice cream shop. I've always wondered what could be so good about this place. Now I know. NOW I GET IT! Burned Milk! It's a subtle, sweet and just a simple flavor. I have to come back to try the other flavors as well as the Mexican treats. The prices are way more than reasonable. I LOVE this ice cream place! I was amazed by all the bright neon colors they have managed to concoct. Ice cream is delicious- as it is all handmade on site, it's no wonder. Even more amazing are the prices- I think it was $1.50 for two large scoops, maybe 2.50 for a 4 scoop huge cone? This place also has many food items and slushies, shakes, etc, but as their food menu is sometimes written in Spanish and contains a lot of authentic Mexican choices, I'm always afraid to order anything off of it but I'm sure it's good. Super friendly service, they are always willing to patiently let you try as many flavors as you want before deciding. As for seating, there are a few tables inside, but it can get pretty crowded on a hot day. read more

Returned to taste more treats and flavors on a hot, humid afternoon. I enjoyed a mix of fresh fruit covered with cottage cheese and granola with honey sprinkled in. Not bad. My friend had a scoop of guava ice cream and a scoop of yellow cherry. The yellow cherry was very good. The servers as usual were courteous and prompt. One suggestion though would be to wipe the tables after someone's left though I understand this can prove to be difficult with people lining up to order and others coming and going at the tables. read more

If I could put zero stars I would. My family and I drove almost a half hour to try their icecream and they were closed at 830 even though the door says 9. They were cleaning up and didn't even have the decency to open the door(he was the cleaning the door) and say "we're closed." AWFUL SERVICE!!! read more

I got some delicious samples, they have really good prices and cup/cone sizes, unique flavors, and although the place is on the small side but its very clean. On my first visit here I'm pretty sure that out of the three flavors I got (Pistachio, Burnt Milk, and Chocolate Chip) Burnt Milk is one of my favorites! Loved this place. Went for the first time a few days ago after reading all the reviews on yelp and it was amazing. There were so many flavors that you wouldn't normally see in an ice cream shop. Also $3 for 4 scoops...you can't go wrong. I had the guava, burned milk, guanabana, and mango. Hard to say which was my favorite, but I will say the burned milk is a must try. I would have to thank my girlfriend for finding this place as it is always our go to spot for ice cream. Who would of thought that this little gem was a diamond hiding in Oceanside? This place satisfies my ice cream cravings when I first started coming here it was $1.50 for two scoops but recently they bumped it up to $1.75 but who cares!? Thats still a decent price for ice cream and the cones are free!!! I have nearly tried all of the flavors they have and they are all good but my favorite ones are; rice, cactus, strawberry sherbet, oreo cookie, mango, and guava. Tucked into a corner of the shopping strip, this is a gem, worth going out of the way for. The variety of exotic flavors, combined with endless ways of serving them (not all to the average American palate), and the great prices, make this a repeat favorite. Cheese ice cream? Try it. Watermelon? Refreshing. Walnut, Prickly pear, yellow cherry, coconut...I need to move on to their other treats as well! This is a family own business, open in 2007, after more than 7 years in the ice-cream business in vista(Paleteria Y Neveria La Mixteca) and many more in Mexico city. We decided to expand our business to Oceanside, Thats how we started Ocean Rainbow. Why Ocean Rainbow? Well At the time of signing the lease at Market Plaza Del Rio,one of the conditions from the landlord at the time, was to replace our company name with a more generic name. You definitely can tell the difference compared to other ice cream places. I got a banana split I tried the strawberry shortcake Banana pudding And the s'more's ice cream. All tasted super fresh and not overly sweet. I definitely will be back to this ice cream shops to try some of the flavors I didn't get! The staff were super friendly and welcoming.

The staff greets anyone who walks in and they are incredibly helpful with samples and checking out. They definitely make sure to keep the machines and floor clean so no one slips too. They have a few tables inside to sit at but taking it to go is always easy. Plenty of parking in the lot though! Overall they have some of my favorite flavors and toppings. I love that they switch it up with yogurt flavors too. I love too many to mention here, but when they first came out with the dole whip flavor years ago, I was obsessed.

Up until about a week ago I had never walked into Ocean Rainbow, although I had always been curious about trying their ice cream and etc. I'm pleased to say, it was delicious! I had the water-based coconut popsicle. With each bite, it took me back to a nostalgic time when I used to live in Mexico and eat those after a day at the park with my cousin. I would definitely go back there again and recommend them to a friend. read more

OMG...to my surprise OCEAN RAINBOW has been CLOSED by the Health Dept for Vermin infestation as of today 01/02/15. I wanted my fruit salad and mangoniada. I really like this place but not sure if I can come back once it opens. Just the thought of rats running around all nights freaks me out!!! To the proprietor please do not ignore this issue...your customer's health s/b a priority. read more

My kids love this place. I think they are a silly for making you pay 50 cents to wear a mask in their store. They charge 50cents for credit cards under 10.00$ which is a little crazy too. I would go to handles if I'm going to get ice cream for 20$. read more

Great ice cream selection! I love different types of Mexican ice cream and they had it all! Not many places like this in North County! Just wish the line was shorter, but I guess the word has spread about how great this place is. read more
