The food is still really good, but the prices have gone up again, and the portion sizes seem to be a bit smaller. We came in earlier today for what we thought would be a lunch special, but they changed the lunch menu hours to end at 3pm instead of 3:30pm. The prices of dinner entrees went up as well. Double bummer. We couldn't find a coupon so ended up spending some good money on what was supposed to be a relatively inexpensive lunch. We'll be back for lunch only from now on. They've lost us for dinner, as there are cheaper options in Oceanside that taste very good too. read more

Meh. I don't know what happened to this place. I have never remembered the food here being so bland or the waitresses being very rude. We walk in around 6:30ish, there isn't many people in the restaurant but we wait at least 10 minutes before anybody even acknowledges us. I totally understand that it gets very busy but I think it's weird that it wasn't even busy on this night. We sit down and our waitress doesn't come by for another 10 minutes to get our drinks. She wasn't very nice and felt very rushing. We finally get our food and it was a very generous portion. I got chicken pad Thai noodles and they were very bland. I ordered them spicy but they weren't spicy at all and I kept having to put red chili pepper flakes in it. Also they forgot to put the peanuts in it too. My sister didn't enjoy her food either, she said it was really bland as well and it didn't have any flavor. I don't know this restaurant has just gone downhill in the past year. I think I'll stick to Ocean Thai on Mission instead. It's quite pricey here too, not worth it anymore. read more

I really enjoyed Thai food and try to eat it every chance I get but I was a little disappointed in this food, mainly the pad Thai noodles, I thought they were a little dry and lacking the full flavor that I like. Wow! What a great spot with fantastic prices & wonderful food. I'm not typically excited about going to a restaurant flanked by a Sears Outlet, Petco and Chuckee Cheese, but this place is truly a hidden little gem! Went in last night for a quick bite to eat with a friend. Ordered the tofu fresh rolls and vegetable gyoza to share. Both came out quickly, the server was friendly, the dining area was clean and quiet and the food tasted excellent. The cool fish tank was a bonus. The fresh rolls had mint in them which was delicious (I ate two of them, but given the chance would've finished all 4) The peanut sauce was off the hizzy (yes, hizzy...as in hook..I know, I know) and the gyoza were hot, crunchy and oh-so-ridiculously good. This is the kind of food that I will CRAVE and I will definitely be back very soon. Don't let the location fool you....this place rocks. read more

We have eaten here probably 4 times for lunch or dinner. The food is usually good and it's conveniently located to shops we frequent. Service is usually fairly good. Tonight we ordered take out. Mistakes happen all the time with take out. We understand! However the way the staff handled it tonight was very poor. Barely an apology. No offer to do anything for the extra 15 min drive each way to go back and get the correct order. Food is on average a 3 but because of service they get a 2. My wife and I have eaten here about every three months and things have not been the greatest the last couple times. Yesterday, Friday., we stopped by around 1:30 and the hostess was not......., but the reason for the two stars is the food was so bad. I had the vegetables with chicken - just awful, only a very few old wilted veggies and a bunch of rubbery chicken slices. My wife had the chicken satay for the first time and never again. That was also rubbery and not much flavor. Best was the Tom Yum soup and their rice is always good. Ocean Thai was one of the top overall rated restuarants in the area, and I like Thai food so that was enough for me. We ordered two lunch specials. the yellow curry, and paneang curry. Both come with steamed jasmine rice and an eggroll, with your choice of soup or salad. I preferred the yellow over paneang curry, the paneang was a lil more on the bland side for me. And we ordered pork spareribs on the side, although its an entree on its own. We took the leftover spareribs home and they were just as good reheated. They had a crispy outside and they were full of flavor. They tasted like they had been tossed in a sweet peppery garlic sauce. Well we gave it another go today and I go into pay, the lady then tells me there's no order. I asked her to double check and she completely skips me to go to the person standing behind me. Favorite thai place in north county! The chicken is great-no mystery meat! My top favorites are the Panang curry and the ginger stir fry ! So delicately balanced and just plain yummy!
