We stayed at the resort and had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here, didn't find a reason to go anywhere else. Dinner is on the pricey side but when staying at the resort, can't beat the convenience. My only critique is a few days the kitchen was out of some foods (breakfast smoothies, berries, and lunchtime sweet potato fries) but it did not stop me from having wonderful meals. Elegant dinning room with above average food at a Michelin 5 star price. Our waitress couldn't have been sweeter, she was on top of her game with waiting on us. We walked in 15 minutes after they opened. We were the 3rd table to be seated and no one came in after us for at least 30 minutes. So it wasn't very busy until later in the evening. Our waitress told us about the chef's special which was a high end cut of steak. 3 people at our table ordered the special. About 10 minutes after we ordered our waitress came back and said they only had 2 specials left. How do you run out of the chef special in the first hour of business with only 3 tables of people in the whole restaurant? Anyway I tried the Seafood Risotto which really should have been called Scallop Risotto, 3 shrimp and 1 little lobster tail cut in half with about 15 little scallops. Someone else at my table got the lobster Mac & Cheese and the topped pork chop. I tried both, the Mac and cheese was just ok but the pork chop was delicious. I really wanted to like this place, but the experience fell well short of expectations--especially considering the final bill. * The orange juice was $6, extremely small (maybe 4 oz), and had so much pulp I actually had to chew it. * The water bottle cap had visible mold on it, which is unacceptable and concerning from a sanitation standpoint. * A double espresso cost $8, which would be fine if the overall experience justified it. The biggest issue was the Blue Crab Benedict. The crab cake was cold in the center, and more troubling, the crab itself had a distinctly sour taste. I deconstructed the dish and tried each component separately--the sourness was clearly coming from the crab, not the sauce or egg. That's a serious red flag for seafood and I couldn't finish it. To be fair, the waffle was absolutely amazing--crispy, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. The only miss there was the whipped butter, which had clearly been re-chilled and turned crumbly instead of spreadable. All in, the bill came to around $90, plus a 22% service fee, with an additional tip still recommended. At that price point, I expected far better food quality, attention to detail, and basic sanitation. This place has potential, but between the food safety concerns, temperature issues, and the cost, this was not a brunch I'd feel comfortable recommending. read more

After a long day of traveling we were starving and dining at Ocean 2000 was the perfect start of our vacation. Our server was very attentive and great at giving detailed answers to our questions. He was also spot on either some great suggestions. I appreciate when a server has tried the items you are ordering or thinking about ordering to get their suggestions and opinions. Everything including cocktails, appetizers, salad, bread service and entrees were excellent. Oysters were deemed some of the best and the calamari was light and tender. The absolute only improvement could have been my steak was a tad overcooked (ordered medium and came out medium well) and the plates were "noisy" when the utensils hit the plates. I think there is a texture to the entree plates and although attractive, they kind of feel like running your fingers on a chalkboard. Overall excellent meal - cheers! read more

Finally had the chance to try the Sunday Brunch. It was Ok. Service was good but the spread was not the best. I doubt i'll come back. I think there a few other options locally that beat this place. The epitome of waterfront dining at this restaurant located in the Pelican Grand Beach Resort on the Atlantic Ocean in Fort Lauderdale. We valet parked for $10 up to two hours at the restaurant. We sat at the outdoor patio with beautiful panoramic ocean views from the veranda. I had the fish and chips $20. It was fresh and delicious. Our server was very friendly and exceptional. With family traveling for the holidays, I decided to book a reservation at Ocean2000 (at the Pelican Grand). I have enjoyed many meals here (before COVID when they shut down the brunch entirely). Now that they have restarted the brunch, I was excited. Wow! What a disappointment. Such a different experience. Service was terrible. Buffet was only average (I think they were pulling any employee willing to work on Christmas to work the dining room). Just awful experience. And all of this for the low, low price of $110 per person, drinks not included. My nephew at a waffle. He is 11 years old and they charged full price. Literally, a $110 waffle. Pricey, but what do you expect from a resort on the beach in Fort Lauderdale? The Pelican is a very nice hotel, and Ocean 2000 is a great choice if you want to eat dinner on the beach around twilight and enjoy the torches as it gets dark. The service was excellent for the most part, with a waiter (Matthew R.) that really took the time to talk about their menu, the chef, the options for sharing and different plate sizes and near the end of the meal when I was going on about sauces and how I make a red wine reduction he said that the chef normally makes something like that and it is divine and since I still had a decent portion of my steak on the plate, he went back to see if he could get some. Voila! Our party had lobster tail, 2 8oz filet, the grilled asparagus, herb-crusted salmon, the truffle arancini, and one red and one white wine by the glass. Everything was good or better, and Matthew was scrupulous about telling me that the 'hospitality fee' was already on the bill. While it was not cheap, it was a good-to-great experience that I am glad we chose among the various places in Fort Lauderdale to enjoy dinner by the water - most are on the inter-coastal and canals, unlike Ocean 2000 which is on the ocean, of course! read more

They were incredibly accommodating, especially with our toddler, and we really appreciated how they made us feel welcome. During our stay, we even got to know the staff a little better, which was a lovely touch. Definitely ask for Reya, once we found her we only wanted to sit in her section! If you sit outside, you overlook the water. The views were perfect. The only downside was that it felt a bit overpriced for what you get, but overall, it was great and staying on property for us was crucial. It wasn't overly decorated, and didn't feel super fancy for their brunch. I had the Crab Cakes Benedict. The potatoes were pretty good, a couple were sort of soggy and oily. But mostly we're pretty good. The English muffin was maybe a little overcooked. I had a hard time cutting through it and kind of just submitted to deconstructing the meal and eating the components individually. The crab was good though and the egg was cooked well. Not the best Benedict I've had but it was good enough. The service was good enough. Our server was friendly when we interacted with her. But we drained our water pitcher and it was empty for a while. So her attentiveness was a little lacking. If the place was busy I would have understood, but it was pretty empty and quiet. The food came out within about 15 minutes of ordering. So it was quick. The service experience was fine across the board, but definitely wasn't a stand out moment. I would say across the board they are very middle of the road. Nothing blew me away, but also, nothing was bad. Prices are about what I would expect for our meal. If you are close by and want a view of the ocean and a meal, it's a good stop. I had something from each dish that I can speak highly of but the cohesiveness wasn't there. The Ahi tuna taco app was probably my favorite. The oysters Rockefeller were bland and had no flavor. The red snapper was over seasoned and a small piece of fish for $49. The sauce on the plate was delicious. The rack of lamb again bland but the risotto and sauce amazing. The lobster Mac was a generous portion but had a sweetness that I didn't care for. They charge a mandatory 22% hospitality fee which is insane. And also explains why the restaurant is empty on a Saturday night during the boat show. I have attached a copy of the receipt for proof. Four drinks, two entrees and an app.....$255!! This was one of the WORST dining experiences I have had. I sat down with high hopes as we were given a seat by the ocean on Valentine's Day. I had thought, what could go wrong. To my surprise, the view was the only decent part of this horrible experience. Where do I even start? After being seated, we were given a menu and I was surprised because we were not given the original menu, but a Valentine's Day one. I had called the waiter over to ask if it was okay to order the regular items since there were not many vegetarian options on this menu and it was $110 per person, she said no! This was where everything started to go downhill. I was not expecting them to only have this menu as I was not told this beforehand in the reservation. They mentioned that we were notified that there would only be this menu but based on the reservation confirmation on the app and via email, this was not noted. Afterwards, the manager came to speak with us as we had an issue with this because we were vegetarians. He spoke rudely and in a condescending tone. Some of the things he said were "you have to pay $60 per person if you want to leave, so you might as well eat here because that is half the price" and "we cannot accommodate for vegetarians". I was astonished, but I was basically forced to stay here due to their policy (which is absurd). The menu they forced us to choose from was found on their website without any mention that it was mandatory to select from here. In addition, there was no mention of this menu on the reservation. We ended up ordering the food since I did not want to end the night early and ruin it. For the first item, we were told that they could not do anything about that item as it was premade with meat, so I asked the manager to go check with the chef to try to accommodate us and we were given crackers and butter. For the second item, we were given a small portion of a soup that was plain and did not have much flavor. The third item was a salad that came with blue cheese and a vinaigrette that was not good, so we were not able to eat this item. The fourth item was the only vegetarian option this place came with and it was okay (fried eggplant dish). The final item was a small dessert that was pretty good. Overall, the 5-course meal was not at all filling and not worth the price paid. We felt very discriminated against here as vegetarians and it was very disheartening to see that happen at such an establishment. I do not recommend going to this restaurant, especially on nights where they have a special menu. The rude treatment and the bill from this place were just absurd and not worth it. This restaurant is located on such a nice beach, but it does not serve it justice. Overall, the bad service, false advertising, and lack of vegetarian options made this experience horrid. I would not recommend this place, and their food is not even that great for the prices they offer. read more

So, if you make reservations be sure to get an outside veranda dining table. But beware of the Pelican Hotel parking. They're not to be trusted. My valet parking was to be $7.00, but since I was there over two hours it jumped to a full day at $37.50. UGH! The food at Ocean2000 is very good, near 5 stars. I had their oyster Rockefeller to start, which was near perfection. Not what you'd find in Antoine's, but this is not New Orleans. Then also a shrimp cocktail and a 16oz Cowboy Steak with delicious lobster butter. No wonder this place has such low ratings. This place is so poorly organized, I would avoid at all costs. They ruined our Mother's Day brunch. We arrived here almost an hour early to check in so we can have an outdoor table to watch the airshow. When they started seating everyone they forgot to seat us and sat everyone except for us. I was ready to walk out but then I would have lost my $150 deposit I paid to Resy. Once we were sat, no plates to be found. Lines disorganized and nowhere to stand. Food wise they were out of most stuff by the time I got there and they were taking forever to refill. The raw bar was empty by the time I went up and was never replenished. So all in all we paid $300 for some grisly prime rib. For a restaurant in a "luxury" hotel, this place is awful. Note: we didn't mention how bad it was to the server (was not her fault) and she did mention it to a manager who took $50 off. Nobody even stopped by or anything. I wasn't complaining necessarily to get money back, I just wanted to express how dissatisfied I was with the whole experience. read more

For lunch I ordered the blackened mahi tacos which on the menu says it comes with either french fries or plantain chips. When my food arrived there were neither french fries nor plantains. A different waitresses was walking by so we asked her about it and she said I know it's on the menu but it doesn't normally come with it anymore but she said she'd bring me plantain chips. They never arrived. The tacos are served in a hard corn shell which tasted like it was store bought. My friend had slliced steak with two eggs and potatoes and he said it was good. Our waitress was very nice and friendly The Table was wonderful with a great view of the ocean. Although it was warm and humid, the views were spectacular. Sunset was beautiful. We started with the octopus and Calamari. My wife gets octopus a lot and I usually think it's just Ok. This one was excellent. Calamari was also delicious. My wife got seafood risotto. I got the filet mignon. Both were excellent. Key lime pie was also excellent. Only things I would mention would be that the prices were all higher there then they were on their website. They did just redo the menu though. They also add 22%. This was an absolutely insulting dining experience. Firstly, We were here for Valentine's Day dinner and were seated promptly at the time of our reservation which was amazing . We were excited as we were sold on a five course meal with a live band "serenading" the guests. Well after being seated everything was horrendous. We were given our water and then did not see our waiter for 30 minutes. He finally showed up and asked us if we wanted to start on some drinks, which I replied asking for a wine menu he informed me he would be back with one. A short while later our first course arrived. The menu stated a nice caprese with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. What we got was a SINGULAR cherry tomato with a ball of mozzarella on top. The next course arrived shortly after...I must note still no wine menu or drinks. Nor any sign from our waiter. The next course I received was a salad with some prosciutto. It was legitimately some arugula with balls of prosciutto on either end of the plate. Again, horrible. My significant other elected for a shrimp plate which she got 3 pieces of shrimp on. Our waiter finally emerged after the first two plates, bringing my girlfriend her glass of wine and informed me that he could not find me a wine list. I told him I guess I will have a pinot. Our third course came out, lo and behold another small salad. This time a small plate with strawberries and walnuts with some lettuce. Honestly a pretty good salad. Shortly after this salad came my first glass of wine just about an hour or more into our dining experience. Finally, the main entree arrived. We both elected for the surf and turf. A filet with a lobster tail. Well the filet was good but the lobster tail was not of legal size in Florida waters nor was a it a full tail (split in half down the middle). So...small and split in half. Totally what the menu told us. When the bill came for $308.00 there was an automatic 22% gratuity charge included. Absolutely disgusting. I felt as if I have been stolen from. Our poor waiter was 75 years old or more and managing every single table in the restaurant. This poor man was getting yelled at in the kitchen and being expected to run around the entire restaurant. I must note they were not short staffed as there was easily 10 or more employees running around the floor. If this restaurant can expect me to pay 300 or more dollars with tip included at the bare minimum give me good service or good food. But severely lacking both on such a big night is shameful. At these prices and service fees, one would expect more. I won't be returning and neither will I recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. We originally were seated outside but it was too chilly. I am visiting Fort Lauderdale and wanted to take an old friend of many years to a nice Christmas dinner. Ocean2000 was offering a special Christmas Buffet dinner which was a little pricey, but I thought well worth it being Christmas day. Golden Coral or any of the local coffee shops would have been a better choice. The food was absolutely horrible. I started out with some shrimp and muscles which was good. For the main dish the prime rib and leg of lamb looked good but was carved so thin it could have been used for sandwich meat. Even at that thickness both were tough. The vegetables and other dishes were served out of those silver catering trays and were lukewarm at best. When we went for the desert, we found that it had all been taken away. They did bring us some which tasted like cheap cruise ship pastries. After the tax and forced 22% service charge, the bill came to $300. Even the waitress said that she was only getting 16% of the service charge and I could add more if I wanted to. read more

Ocean view is first come first serve, and despite being one of only 4 tables, our party of 6 was not allowed to sit outside because the manager said he couldn't put tables together... so 10 empty tables outside... six of us sitting inside alone.. no ocean. The servers all apologized about the managers bad attitude, as though this was his regular disposition. Not surprised to read the other one star reviews related to service and lack of ocean view, and accommodation. You'd be better off catching something off the pier, and dragging the unused tables from the completely empty restaurant out to the sand, lighting them on fire to cook your own dinner, and basking in the warm glow of happiness knowing that those lonely tables finally were put to some good use. -- Rev After appetizers were served, the one table outside at the 6 top finally left, so they let us move outside. It's awkward to move tables mid meal, but we did enjoy finally being outside. If you can get a table outside and don't have to speak with the manager, you'll enjoy good food and the view.
