I guess it's called ocean2000 because that's the last time someone actually got to sit by the ocean here. Ocean view is first come first serve, and despite being one of only 4 tables, our party of 6 was not allowed to sit outside because the manager said he couldn't put tables together... so 10 empty tables outside... six of us sitting inside alone.. no ocean. The servers all apologized about the managers bad attitude, as though this was his regular disposition. Not surprised to read the other one star reviews related to service and lack of ocean view, and accommodation. You'd be better off catching something off the pier, and dragging the unused tables from the completely empty restaurant out to the sand, lighting them on fire to cook your own dinner, and basking in the warm glow of happiness knowing that those lonely tables finally were put to some good use. -- Rev After appetizers were served, the one table outside at the 6 top finally left, so they let us move outside. It's awkward to move tables mid meal, but we did enjoy finally being outside. If you can get a table outside and don't have to speak with the manager, you'll enjoy good food and the view. I highly recommend this place at the Pelican Grand Hotel for lunch and drinks outside & hard to rate otherwise. Why? Sitting outside for lunch on the ocean is unbeatable! Period. A little something for everyone sliders, salads, a fish taco, calamari, salmon cake, quinoa etc. I have tried dinner twice and again the view is great! Service. Lunch service is pretty good. Typical hotel on the water- staff is attentive and tries to stay on top of things and, all in all, they succeed. Dinner. Maybe just a coincidence as both evenings were fair. Hard to get served, food delivery was sporadic with a one person being served a good 10 minutes after the rest. Helpful hint. Ask for coasters or a paper napkin for your water glasses. The condensation (an expected occurrence in South FL) will eventually run down the table and into your lap! Learned the hard way and the staff always accommodates my request! If you like seating outside by the beach facing the ocean then this is the place for you. We had a bunch of different items and everyone liked their food: Fish Tacos, Chopped Salads with Steak, Caesar Salad with Chicken, and Eggs Benedict. I would say come here more for the view and atmosphere rather than the food, but like I previously said, we all liked out dishes. The parking is tricky. It was relatively inexpensive to valet park for I think 2 hours but if you went over the 2 hour limit, it became very expensive to park. read more

I liked this place. The very first day we stayed at Pelican Grand Beach Resort, we got lunch here. I got the salmon burger with a side of coleslaw and my sister got the chicken panini with a side of fries. The coleslaw honestly threw me back a little bit because it's not your typical coleslaw - but it was still flavorful. On our final day, before our flight, we dined here again and grabbed breakfast. Their fruit was really amazing and tasted fresh - its coldness was well needed on a hot, sunny morning. I got the two eggs any style (sunny side up) with a side of bacon and potatoes as well as rye bread. My sister got the spinach and egg white scramble with a side of fruit. I rated this place 4 stars because the breakfast didn't wow me - I was indifferent to it. At the same time, however, it is just eggs and bacon. Love the professional haughtiness of the maitre'd and hostess upon check in. Professional waiter Carlos provided excellent service. Five meals all were excellently presented and prepared. The beet salad (sans prosciutto) was described as excellent by the partner. Two steaks (a filet and a rib Waygu) were ideal. The ahi tuna, and catch of the day (mahi/dolphin) were excellent. Even the youngest enjoyed her chicken fingers and fries. Very nice wine by the glass selection. Dirty martini was professionally prepared and excellent. One of the best dining experiences we have had since the lockdowns, and on the day mask mandates ended everywhere! read more

When we asked the waitress where it was she went to the kitchen, when we were halfway done eating she reappeared. She literally dropped the sausage off and ran.. It was freezing cold, not even cooked. Look at the picture. we were 100% finished when she came back to check on us. We told her about the sausage she didn't really seem to care . we were there on brunch and while the bottomless Prosecco is a good deal you have to run your server down for every class. Extraordinary breakfast on Fort Lauderdale beach. Throughout the years I've frequently visited the Pelican resort for their stunning beach side views. A group of 3 of us dined early for Memorial Day, we made reservations via Opentable the night before. Valet with validation is $7 up to two hours otherwise it's $25. Service can be sluggish but Frank maintained top notch service throughout our visit. We opted for two American breakfasts, great sampler options which are accompanied with coffee. My friend went with the classic Benedict. Simple yet perfect. No complaints on the food our orders were fulfilled and our stomachs happy. The breakfast is justifiably priced due to the location and stunning views of the ocean. The restaurant is located inside the beachy resort. Almost feels like you're away on vacation when you visit. This is a tale of 2 different days. We arrived earlier this week for a work conference for my wife. Being that there isn't anything around to eat, because we don't have a car, we decided to eat at the only restaurant on property. We sat outside and got Alberto. He was amazing, the service was amazing and the food was good. It's overpriced, but what did you think you were getting when they have you hostage at the hotel ‍ Today on the other hand, was a much different story. I was waiting for the wife to finish her work conference and didn't have any other options than to dine here again. Knowing it would cost, I settled in for another meal. Today I chose to sit inside due to the strong breezes (Amazing views at this restaurant) from the ocean. I was the only person seated inside during my entire meal, but was somehow mostly neglected. Today I got "Suze" according to my check (No one introduced themselves). As I sat inside, I was able to overhear all the staff conversations/complaining while sitting waiting to be waited on. After finally getting to put my order in, after an almost 10 minute wait to see anyone, I was finally given some water. Today I ordered a chopped salad with salmon and a side of lobster Mac and Cheese. The food arrived quickly and was very appealing to look at. The lobster Mac was delicious, rich and creamy. The chopped salad disappointed, but that's my fault. I didn't see that it had olives, and boy did it! I HATE olives! Their taste permeated the entire salad and made it unpleasant for me. The salmon however was beautifully prepared and saved it for me. Finally, the staff infighting was a bit overwhelming and annoying to listen to. Peers were busy constantly complaining about others not doing their job and no management seemed to be around to address the issue. At one point, a guest/customer walked in from the patio to complain about their lack of service out there as well and chewed out the staff. The best part of this place at brunch is the view. I was so excited to experience this restaurant but with $40 dollars to Valet Or find pay on street parking. It's soooo not worth it. Basic burger with a wilted piece of lettuce and some ore Ida fries for $18 and a crab cake Benedict with more cake than crab. And tasteless home fries plus messed up steak order. Not worth it in the least. I could get a better burger at shake shack or 5 guys. And $30 for bottomless mimosas that I barely got 3 thimbles of. We will never go back again read more

This restaurant is fantastic in every way. Our Waiter Matt was professional and very knowledgeable about the outstanding new menu. The Filet mignon in a reduced cab reduction was exceptional and could not decide which was better the ribeye with zesty peppercorn sauce. The manager was lovely came over to make sure everything was perfect which it was. We sat in a cozy window table with stunning views of the ocean during sunset making the most spectacular ambience complements of mother nature! This was the icing on a delicious birthday dinner! The food choices for vegetarians are not great. The veggie patty is fresh and very tasty. Even though the server was very nice the time to get the food was too long. I was not in a hurry or hungry but over 30min for two burgers to be ready that's a bit much. Place was not full, so my guess kitchen was under staffed. Definetly not my favorite place. The inside looks like an old mans closet--looks old and and dingy. The carpets don't look like they get regularly cleaned. Everything was just so lifeless here, even the manager walking by just looked bored. The food was good, but not something to rave about. I felt bad for the waitress, she dropped one of our champagne bottles and clearly was flustered. But here's the weird thing. She dropped the bottle and it was rolling around on the dirty carpet, and then she proceeded to pour it in one of our glasses!!! Another staff person saw and took it from her. My NYE experience. No service at all. Sat there from 10:15pm on our reserved time, nobody came to our table for thirty minutes. My wife and I left after 30 minutes. No one came to our table once to even offer us water or bread. Never had a chance to order when we were invisible sitting there. Thank god we didn't pay $150 per person paying for something we don't have any real experience. No entertainment. Thank god we left. The girl working on the front was also like invisible when we left. Will never come back again. read more

The food was good but that enjoyment does not outweigh the terrible service we received. It took our waitress around 10 minutes just to come and greeted us. We sat waiting for awhile. She never checked on us, only when the food was being brought. It always took at least 12 minutes for her to return to our table. It was NOT busy at all. I then watched a table being sat and served almost instantly. I hate to make it a race issue but the thought was nagging at my mind when I watched how well the other table was being treat. Excellent service! Love this place, had a delicious lunch! Our server Eva was the kindest. She new so much about the menu and she has such a sweet presence. I really had a great experience because of her. I would recommend this place to any of my friends. The hostess was nice. We came in at the transition between breakfast and lunch and she let us sit in the spot we would like by the water! A guest was rude to the hostess while we where waiting and she was friendly back despite that person being rude. I felt bad watching that interaction but the hostess handled it well! Horrible experience from the moment we arrived. The hostess (heavy set Latin woman mid to late twenties) was rude, and dismissive. When we politely asked to sit on the veranda she went on a long winded SARCASTIC condescending speech about how she couldn't seat us on the veranda because of some "policy". This was never mentioned to us when we made the reservation. Service and food experience was horrible as well. It took 20 minutes to get bread to the table. I guess because 22% gratuity is automatically included they feel no need to actually provide good service. But to make matters worse, when they brought out the food, there was a hair on my wife's dinner plate. Absolutely disgusting. She lost her appetite and didn't even eat. You think a manager came out to apologize? NO. They just removed the plate and never returned to even offer an apology. Never have we been to this caliber of restaurant and received this type of poor treatment. Maybe it's because we're minority Latinos and the restaurant patrons were ALL white. I guess discrimination runs rampant at this establishment. This was not our first time at the restaurant but it will certainly be our last. This is the place to go if you want to dine on the beach without looking at traffic. They have an outdoor porch with dining tables or you may dine inside. I had the chicken curry wrap with plantain chips. All ingredients were fresh. The server was friendly and efficient. Expect to pay $15-25 for lunch without drinks. My friend Arlyn, who resides in Washington DC, was attending her 40th high school reunion at the Pelican Grand Hotel, which is where Ocean2000 (its address on North Ocean Blvd in Fort Lauderdale), and she had only one opportunity to meet with us for dinner. She was exhausted from her long day of preparing for travel, and insisted we have dinner at the hotel, and not venture forth to any area restaurants. I was disappointed, but had no choice. I really wanted to spend the evening with her, as her birthday was later in the month, and this was my only option. I checked out all of the reviews, and when I did not see any from a Yelp Elite, I was concerned. After all, if other Yelp Elites had not been there, I wondered what was wrong. I reviewed the menu on-line, looked at the posted pictures of both the restaurant and its food, and figured, well, it's one dinner, and it can't be that bad, no one wrote a review stating that they got sick. AMBIENCE. While it is true that the hotel is literally on the sand, and has wonderful ocean view, unless you sit outside, and they do have seating on their terrace/porch for about 40 people, you don't get to see too much of the ocean, but you know it's right there. The restaurant looks a bit dated, although I did like the lighting, both the fixtures and the vibe they presented. There were many oversized booths on an upper level (could accommodate guests with huge stomachs and/or big rear ends), with tables closer to the windows looking out on the ocean. I recommend a refresh. SERVICE: Our server was Gissele, who was familiar with the menu, explained how the dishes were prepared, and was attentive to our needs. She never got overwhelmed, and made sure our glasses of bottled water were refilled as needed. They were not busy when we arrived at 7 PM on a weekday, but did get a few more tables by 9. FOOD: I must admit that I was surprised with the food. It was much better than I anticipated, based on the reviews, and the "three star hotel restaurant feel" to it all. Shrimp cocktails were priced at $4. each, and were a good size, and not chewy. Arlyn ordered tuna tartar and a pork belly appetizer, each proceed at $11 each, and she liked them, although did complain that the sauce on the pork belly was not to her liking - but the pork belly was. We had glazed salmon, and I asked for the glaze to be left off, and Dennis had his with the glaze. It was prepared as requested, cooked all the way through. Priced at $31., it was a good dish, served with some veggies, and I would re-order it. They do not serve bread, but you can order an Artisan board with various breads, and a special butter, priced at $7. The breads were delicious, as was the butter, and frankly, if you are charging $30-40 for an entree, why not include some bread? It seemed a bit tacky, but maybe they do this because its a restaurant in a hotel, with many tourists, some foreign, who are used to paying for bread, or would fill themselves up with a lot of free bread. I think bread should be included when you are at this price point. There were, of course, other options, including meat, chicken, and other fish dishes. We ordered Tito martinis, which were priced at $11, with an additional $3 charge cause they were martinis. I guess if you just ordered Titos on the rocks, it would have been $11. Grey goose was $12, with the same $3 martini upcharge. They were icy cold, strong, and served with slivers of ice, as we requested. Nice stuffed and unstuffed olives. They were quite good, and I'm pleased they had a good bartender that night. I'd skip desserts, nothing exciting, the sorbet at $8 for 2 scoops was not a flavor bursting in my mouth experience. WOULD I RETURN? I'd return if I found myself in the area and other options were not available, but I would not drive from Boca Raton to dine there, as there are many other restaurants in that area of Fort Lauderdale which I would go to, specifically for dinner. Hopefully my pictures give you a good idea of the food. The accept reservations on Open Table, and I suspect in season, are busy with hotel guests. PARKING: Valet is expensive. About 20 pay parking spots are available in front of hotel if you prefer and they are available. read more
