The best roasted barbecue pork belly you'll ever have in your entire life. I like to get the full slab and have them cut it in front of me. It was still piping hot when I ate it in the car. The top skin is very crispy and the pork belly meat is very soft and tender and it taste tasted like it was just right out out of the oven. I also ordered the sua siu pork, and it was very tender and delicious as well. This oriental grocery store is the most organized and decorated grocery store I've ever been into. They have a whole aisle, dedicated to the Chinese beauty drink, which my mother has stockpiled the ingredients for me and I make a tea of it every week. My mother was with me to help me pick out the pork belly, and she had stated that the prices are pretty decent however, there are some items where the prices are higher than other oriental grocery stores but overall the prices are very decent here. The prices for their deli station is very nicely priced I would say much cheaper than the other places and the quality is much higher than at the other places so it's definitely a win-win situation at this place. They have a very large parking lot and it's very close to downtown Tampa and it's very close a couple blocks away from armature works. read more

Oceanic Oriental Market is like Narnia for noodles--tiny, chaotic, and full of frozen treasures. Aisles are tighter than your jeans after dim sum, but worth it for the sauce wall alone. 10/10 would get lost in the dumpling freezer again. read more

Oceanic was introduced to me years ago from a friend whose Mom shopped there for her restaurant. Once we finally made our way there, I noticed it was much more than an Asian Market, they also sold household items, furniture, etc. back then. Now, that part of the store is closed off but I was lucky enough to get some amazing calligraphy artwork on rice paper that I was able to get at a steal and get professionally famed for my house. Now, it is just the food part of the store that is open that also includes some dishware but nothing like the housewares like before. I will note that the produce area has decreased in availability, and prices have gone up, which saddens me, but that has happened to a lot of places since Covid, sadly. In a more recent shop, I did find several Ube items, which are one of my favorites. The Ube pancakes are sooooo good and worth the try! read more

I love this place. I came here to get ingredients for tea. They are so helpful and friendly. I found exactly what I was looking for and more. I also tried food at the hot bar (fried rice and bbq pork) which was amaaazing! I was too hungry to get a photo of that but the serving they gave was huge. The pork was literally the best bbq pork I've ever had. I always get these Swiss roll cakes every time I come here. I usually get strawberry but really enjoyed this blueberry one. I LOVE this oriental supermarket! Conveniently located just outside of downtown with it's own huge parking lot! You can find everything you need here to make a delicious asian meal - they have staples, specialty items, and tons of fresh foods too. Their produce is exceptional and so is their meat/seafood. The best find here for me was their chicken that was chopped super thin - perfect for curries and I can't get it this thin anywhere else. The store was pretty well organized and clean too. And the workers were super friendly and willing to help me find multiple items. I already can't wait to cook my next meal with their supplies. After visiting Crown Flower Kombucha, we were driving to Taco DIrty and I saw this market. I have been here once before many years ago and really liked it because it is very big and has so many items from foods to medicines. They have a huge fresh produce section, meat/seafood market, pantry items and household items. Even a chinese medicine pharmacy and so many teas, you will definitely find what you need. They even have bamboo plants, fresh turmeric and fresh Pompano on ice. The cashier was so friendly and I was telling her about the kombucha brewery down the street and she got so excited that she said she was going to ck it out asap. What an absolutely fun market!! We popped in here just cause it was in the area we were walking around in. It's a lot larger than it appears from the outside, and they have SO many things on offer. We walked around looked at just about everything. If we had brought a cooler I would have taken so many things with me. This is the best Asian market that I found in Tampa or the surrounding area and it's right in Tampa Heights. It's very close to Armature Works on Florida Avenue right before you get on 275. To be in Tampa Heights, the prices are still affordable which I appreciate.. Their produce is usually fresh and they have a nice selection of fresh seafood, beef, chicken, duck, and pork that can be cut up to your specifications. They have the items that I look for including spices, sauces, and teas. They even have manuka honey. There's also an apothecary in the back with traditional Chinese medicine and an herbalist there to blend a special mix just for you or there are some pre-made packs of different herbs and teas to pick from. There is every Asian cooking utensil, saucers, plates and tableware that you can think of. I love this market and it's a regular stop of mine. I usually come in here at least every other week to grab something. read more

It's a small family business, and the staff is very friendly and always willing to help. Although there are other options for Asian markets in Tamp, I like coming here. I always find everything I need for my Asian meals. They also have few options on s for ready made food. It was a Sunday during high Covid days mid June '20, I had just picked up my younger daughter from Tampa Airport, and she needed mostly Chinese and a few Japanese ingredients. Only Oceanic was open. Our GPS on the phone had a hard time finding this location but eventually we got there. The parking lot was in bad shape. When we walked in it smelled of stale floor mop and other odors, the lighting was not bright nor cheerful, And overall everything felt drab, sad, neglected. There were zero Covid measures, no signs for masks, no cleaning between customers, and the one employee had no mask. We had ours on. I have shopped for years in Chinatowns in New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Boston. Many older shops there are identical to Oceanic which offer sometimes better prices than the newer stores. I believe Oceanic is walking that tight line trying to meet the food needs of middle to lower income local folk versus the newer cooks of Chinese food who can afford slightly higher price points. But I am unfortunately a stickler about cleanliness and having a welcoming ambiance of new paint, better lighting. It's food they are selling. The selection of Asian spices, soy sauces, oyster sauces was good but they did not carry the brands I like the most ( for flavor). My daughter was surprised they were out of Thai basil too. I did not look at the fresh vegetables. She found their prices for Japanese ingredients high ( she lives in Queens, NY). They do have a nice selection of affordable dishes bowls, pots pans and decorations. read more

No frills grocery store to fill ingredient void. My dad cooks an amazing sticky rice stuffing that I can't get enough of. He usually brings all the ingredients from Houston, but we ran out of sweet rice. I looked at Publix and couldn't find any. I figured I could find it at an Asian grocery store so we stopped by when we were in the area. The rice is randomly spread out in the store. It is all somewhat connected but it is along back walls. At first I thought all they had was Jasmine rice, but once I realized I had to walk a bit I found the sweet rice. The smallest bag was 10 lb. Yes, we have sweet rice for days. It was $11.99, which my dad said is cheaper than he pays. We also found the Golden Curry blocks that he brings with him from San Francisco to make Japanese Curry. He has found them in a couple different places so for $4.99 he said it was more expensive than Houston, but less than San Francisco. Now we know we can buy them here instead of him bringing them in his suitcase. There is a small hot food section in the back. I would devour some of those buns/meat, but I was soy/dairy free when we went so I avoided it. My husband always enjoys seeing the employees try to speak to me in Chinese when we check out. Since I only speak English the woman switched to impeccable English quickly - seriously, almost no accent. I'm going to figure out a way to force my kid to learn another language so he isn't as useless as I am. Parking lot isn't the biggest, but the store isn't the biggest either. I've never had an issue getting a parking space. read more

I got pad Thai noodles, some somewhat spicy pork and Asian vegetables yesterday and it was tasty and filling. I know they have the hot bar open during the week, not sure about weekends. My coworker likes coming here because it allows her to stock up on a lot of things she cooks with as well as snacks (she's Thai.) If you like noodles, there is an entire aisle of ramen, soba, buckwheat and more. I like to buy my noodles here because there are varieties you can't get at your standard grocery. There is also a small produce section. We usually don't buy produce here because we go at lunch and have to go back to work. We usually swing in and get some specific items then jet, but if you have more time there is a lot to check out, including dishes and cooking utensils. read more

Since the competition catch up with them, they no longer hold the jewels of Tampa Bay. May be this place need a face lift or renovation. It feel old to walk into this store. My husband and I love the selection of tea's and medicinal herbs and REALLY like the hot food selections too. The store is probably not as "clean" looking as you may want, but who cares, the atmosphere and the selection of items is really wonderful. Plus, it is conveniently located down town. Wow what a wonderful experience. Standing there looking so lost in this market trying to find ingredients for an authentic ramen & apparently one of the owners, Ray, took pity on me. He hand walked me through the store to find every ingredient along with a lot of cool bonus stuff like umami mushroom seasoning a lot of the best local restaurants use & the hottest packaged ramen on the planet. He also recommended trying the jack fruit & gave me his recipe for tofu stir fry (it involves fried shallots/garlic and silky tofu with oyster sauce and bok choy:) He also told me his Butcher/ Fish monger Leo is the best in the Bay Area and they have the freshest of both around from local vendors and it all looked amazing! This place is great! It has a wonderful clean produce section with fruits and veggies and mushrooms! It has an apothecary with someone there to help you and so many options of dried herbs and teas! I was so excited having recently been interested in herbal remedies and traditional Chinese medicine, and this place had the biggest and varied options, and most reasonable prices if any place I've found so far! They have hot food and buns, every day not just on the weekends! The staff wear masks and gloves and it is very clean! I can't wait to visit again and grow my herbal apothecary at home, and I love that I can ask questions and learn from a very patient man behind the apothecary and splatter shields that they gave at every register to protect the customers and cashiers, love it! First time visiting an Asian market in this area. The store offers lots of Asian products, some which are commonly known and perhaps found in local or chain supermarkets but perhaps found in larger varieties of brands. They sell some Indian products too but they're limited in numbers. The store also has what looked to me like a naturopathic (Oriental medicine) pharmacy, a fresh meats and seafood area as well as a hot prepared foods area where you can get items such as roasted pork and duck, and some sweets from the local Sweet Buns bakery. We got both roasted meats for lunch and a bbq roast pork steamed bun, all were decent for supermarket bought food. read more

Oceanic is a fantastic Asian supermarket located along Tampa Street, just north of I-275 and before Kay Street. The neighborhood is a bit seedy thanks to the transients who hang out under I-275, and spend their time at Metropolitan Ministries or the Salvation Army nearby. Nonetheless, if you park in Oceanic's private lot, and don't linger outside you'll have no issues. To the best of my knowledge, this is the largest Asian supermarket in the Tampa Bay area, and they carry an amazing selection of fresh produce, fruits, meats, and seafood, along with frozen, canned, and dried goods. Additionally you'll find a whole back room with Oriental cookware and serving tools, plus a small apothecary with all sorts of interesting looking medicinal herbs. They also have a section of the store with Oriental decorations for your home. The people that own Oceanic, also own T.C. Choy's Asian Bistro on Platt Street near S. Howard Avenue. Since I like their dim sum, I knew I'd be happy with the cooked food options at their Oriental market. You'll find plenty of prepared foods inside Oceanic, and you can make your selections from their steam table, and take the food home for lunch. Inside Oceanic I turned left which is where I knew I would find the cooking utensils, and a very helpful Asian grandmother smiled and took me by the arm to help me find a new cleaver. My new best friend also helped me to pick out udon noodle soup, a Cantonese shrimp noodle soup, some very fresh bok choy, Chinese cabbage, sliced water chestnuts, Jasmine rice, ginseng root, a nice Oolong tea, rice wine vinegar, ponzu sauce, and on and on.... My original plan was just to pick up a few items to make a vegetable soup, but with her guidance I discovered all sorts of fascinating sauces, spices, teas, and food stuffs. She would ask me questions about what I liked to eat, and then marched me to that section and helped me choose from the various brands. Her English was perfect, and she beamed from ear to ear when I stumbled through my few Chinese phrases to thank her for her help. I try to visit Oceanic about twice a year to stock up on sauces and spices for stir-fry at home, but I'm gaining confidence in selecting other items to try cooking. If we have a community of Yelpers who enjoy Asian cooking then it would be a blast to coordinate a UYE to wander the aisles and learn some more about this delicious cuisine! read more
