I love this restaurant, such a gem. Gives me old school classy interior vibes -- dark, romantic, spacious booths. The staff is always extremely friendly and on top of everything. The food is delicious and fresh. The seafood on the menu is the star, the whole fish is so light, perfectly cooked. Oysters and the crab cakes, I want them every time I go. My other half has gotten the dry aged ribeye, also perfectly cooked and the accompanying sauce compliments so well. My son requested to go to Oceanos for his 33rd bday dinner remembering the rib eye steak he ate there a few months ago. He asked for his steak to be rare, when he received the steak it was medium, he was very disappointed and really did not enjoy it, he does not like to send food back. I not wanting to ruin the evening did not return my Dover sole which was not cold but not warm either and his girlfriend later told us she was not happy with her lamb chops they were overly seared. We have been to your restaurant on several occasions and this is the first time we were disappointed you would expect a $50 steak to be cooked to order! read more

The restaurant is in a quite residential neighborhood and very easy to get to from route 4. It has valet service and those guys were running around to make sure guests are not waiting. The restaurant had a very comforting atmosphere that is very inviting. Ordered a bottle of wine which was reasonably priced. Good start. Ordered grilled octopus as an appetizer. They were cut smaller than I am used to at other restaurants, but in terms of flavor it was one of the best I had. It is a must try if you go there. I ordered Chilean sea bass which was a tad over cooked for me, but it still had very good tenderness. My wife had linguine which was awesome. Really good food and excellent drinks! The bread before the meal was a mix of sourdough and pumpernickel, and we absolutely could not stop eating the olives served alongside it. We had the fried calamari and beet hummus appetizers, which were really delicious. The scallops were succulent and the surf and turf was cooked perfectly, though the potato appetizers weren't anything to write home about. The desserts here are also really good, and an excellent way to end the meal. 5/5, we will definitely be back! read more

This was my first time at Oceanos and the meal was delicious. We were celebrating a birthday and without us telling them they bought a dessert with a candle in it and we sang to the birthday girl. I really enjoy eating here. Attentive service, tasteful decor, and delicious creative food - especially the seafood. Not cheap, but the food justifies the prices. Sea bass with crab meat on risotto was fresh and perfectly prepared. Started with the eggplant and zucchini chips - a fav - and ended with a killer baklava, perfect for sharing. It was busy on a Saturday night (they better be busy on a Saturday or they won't be around for long), but service never lagged. Only negative is the valet parking. It just seems pretentious and unnecessary. They, like many restaurants, have given up on having a coat-check. People take their coats to their seats - no problem. People can park their own cars too. Perfectly adequate parking right next to the entrance. The valet is moving your car 50 feet. read more

An excellent Restaurant primarily focused on Seafood but has other items such as Steaks, Chicken, etc. The bar serves up some nice cocktails and has a decent wine selection that won't overwhelm you with a million choices. Our waitress Jenna was extremely knowledgeable of the menu items and made some great suggestions for us, you can tell she shared a love for good food. We were shocked when she told us that she had just started working there 5 days earlier. We would have sworn she worked there for years. She was extremely professional along with her fellow staff members down to the welcoming hostess who took our coats and efficient valets in the lot. The service was until unrivaled. We enjoyed a fantastic meal starting with some delicious Kumamoto Oysters, Golden Beet Salad and an order of the best grilled Octopus I've ever had. Our perfectly prepared entrees were the Halibut Special over a Mushroom Risotto (Yes I had the Halibut for the Hell of it!) and also an Asian Inspired Grilled Yellow Fin Tuna. My first time at this lovely Greek seafood spot right off Route 4 in Fair Lawn. A great experience start to finish with a sweet waiter (sorry I don't remember his name). We had tuna tartare, eggplant and zucchini chips, a beet salad as apps then salmon, Arctic char and a grilled lobster. All were fresh and excellent--huge portions. Told them on Open Table it was my birthday and they treated us to a tiramisu complete with candle. Great bottle of wine also. Can't wait to return. read more

Great selection of seafood and a full bar- hard to beat. Start with some oysters (shucked properly with the liquor intact), little-necks, or your cold shellfish of choice. They have a big selection of entrees: fish with various preparations, whole fish, and even steaks; chops; and poultry for land lubbers. During our visit I had the whole bronzino. It was cooked perfectly and served with vegetables, a lemon roasted potato, and a lemon sauce on the side. I tasted a whole black sea bass which was prepared the same, the filet of artic char, the bay scallops, and the seared ahi tuna. All were cooked as well as my bronzino and I would definitely come back to order any of those again. Next time I am craving something light & satisfying I would return. read more

The food was good but nothing great especially for the price. The very worst part of the night was the service. Waiter was very unfriendly, rude and dishonest about the wine price. Many times it felt like we were waiting on the waiter. Giving it 2 stars because the food was good. Will never come back to this place, and do not want to give them another chance. The restaurant is very well decorated. It looks like it should be a steak house with the would paneling. It is very dark. You can barely see what you're eating. Our server came over as soon as we were seated. Asked what kind of water we wanted and told us the specials. She asked if we wanted anything else to drink and we said we would let her know. When she came over again I ordered a Chardonnay. A little later, my husband ordered a Sancerre. We shared a roasted beet appetizer. My husband had the Mediterranean pink snapper for dinner. It wasn't very good. I had the Dover sole which is a fish I usually enjoy. It was supposedly boned in the kitchen. It wasn't done very well. There were a number of bones left in and they were rather large. There were also some scales left on. It would have been nice if the server had stopped at the table so I could tell her, but she didn't. She didn't even refill our water glasses All in all it was a rather unpleasant experience from the rapid service that made one feel they were eating in a Greek diner to the average food to the very high prices. We saw all the great reviews and tried this restaurant. The place is extremely expensive more so than even New York prices. The setting was outdoor seating and was very pleasant well distanced. The however was poor. My order came out wrong and my wife had the sole for 60 $ but it was extremely overcooked. Looked like leather. The waiter was nice and offered us a free dessert. Last night I finally had a chance to scratch Oceanos off my Yelp bookmark list. I had heard considerable positive feedback about this restaurant and the quality of their seafood in general and I just had to give it a try. Upon pulling into the parking lot, the cars parked within would seem to indicate a high profile clientele (I was parked next to a McLaren and a Bentley). I had reserved a table for an early dinner and we were promptly seated after walking in. The Atmosphere: As expected, the interior of the restaurant was clean and formal. The servers and staff were very friendly, attentive, and courteous. The Food: We ordered Crab Cakes and one of their specials, seafood bisque as appetizers. The portion sizes were generous, however, I found the quality of both dishes to be average at best. The "Seafood Bisque" tasted and appeared so similar to a lobster bisque it should have labeled as such; not at all what I was expecting. For our entrees we ordered the grilled Chilean Sea Bass and another of their specials, coconut crusted Mahi Mahi. I found the Grilled Chilean Sea Bass to be satisfactory, moist, and lightly char flavored by the grill. It was certainly the best food item we ordered. The Mahi Mahi on the other hand was not at all what I expected. It was overly breaded and the fish itself contained the bloodline (only visible after cutting through the thick coconut crust). Overall I found this entree slightly overcooked and dry, reminiscent of an overly crusted coconut shrimp dish you might find at a far less prestigious restaurant. Conclusion: Although I found the atmosphere and service to be excellent, I found the food to be anything but. When dining out, the quality of the food is key to me.. There are several other Bergen County seafood restaurants at this price point that rate highly across the board. I suspect the clientele at Oceanos consists mostly of established regulars who have been customers for years and they habitually eat here to see familiar, friendly faces. For now, I will stick to other seafood restaurants in the area. read more

I give this restaurant a solid 3 stars. My husband loved his seared scallops. My wild caught salmon, however, was Atlantic salmon that was seared but raw, served with the wrong sauce, with risotto that was bland and tasteless. For the price point, which I feel was too high given the product and quality, the 3 star rating may be generous. The salvation was the beet salad, which I got as a sub for my dinner. I have celiac so they substituted hummus for the other sauce that had wheat. It was a wonderful combination. As a final note, this isn't a restaurant I would visit again. read more

Came here for the boyfriend's birthday dinner and wasn't impressed. The restaurant is super cold (had to ask the waiter to please turn the AC down and we weren't the only table that asked this). As far as food goes, the calamari are bland, the coconut shrimp are terrible, the beets are okay, and their swordfish is okay although the roasted potatoes that it's supposed to bring was half of an undercooked (and very salty) potato. I can't believe we've never been here! A friend suggested this place. It was absolutely delicious! It's definitely upscale, so dress accordingly. You pull up to the parking lot & all the ballers in their swanky cars are valeted in the front. First of all, they have a GREAT staff. They're all very friendly & very attentive; from the hostess to the bartender, to the servers. We started out with the tuna tartar & the tri-color salad. The tuna tartar was incredible. It was layered with avocado, tuna, and something citrus-y. Not sure, but it may have been jicama. We enjoyed the tri-color salad with goat cheese & the two apps were the perfect compliment to each other. I would highly recommend them both. Oh and the bread is great!! We shared the double cut lamb chops, which were charred and crispy on the outside, and cooked perfectly on the inside. And we shared the stuffed shrimp in the lemongrass wine sauce, also very good. The Manhattans we ordered were PERFECT. Overall a great experience. They have a cute little patio with a waterfall which will be fun in the Spring, & they are expanding the dining area. Next up was the Beef Fillet...guess its no surprise she could not follow instructions and we had to send it back... the meat quality is about 7 our of 10 and later I find out i was over charged by 6$ for it... Next...Dessert....the only thing greek about these are the names...we tried 2 and both were missing ingredients that are traditional in these dishes... mine particularly was missing honey.....how the (#$*$ do you forget that...so we call over the waiter girl and ask her what should these be made with and she did tell us that she doesn't know why the ingredients are missing but thats just the way it is tonight..... what the hell does that mean? attempting to leave this hell....my car is 10 feet from me and I have to wait 20minutes for someone to drive it over to me? I request the keys to my car and I am denied! I've never seen this ... I won't go into detail of the resolution but I surely will never return. Fine dining at it's best! Thank you Rahmi, for a very personable and enjoyable dinner. My family of 4 reserved a birthday dinner using Open Table. We left a note with the reservation that we were celebrating two birthdays that night. As soon as the manager Rahmi read the note, he did his ultimate best to cater to us that night! We shared some laughs, talked about the great upcoming renovations to the restaurant, and he gave us some birthday dessert on the house. If you ever have an event or are celebrating something, definitely ask for him. The restaurant is very intimate and dimly lit. It was very full at the time so make sure you reserve a table. We shared the tuna tartare, my dad had the lobster bisque, and we all had the grilled lobster with mashed potatoes. Every dish was full of freshness and bursting with flavor. Pondering where to eat meatless on a Friday night during Lent, I remembered Oceanos. This is a lovely, upscale Greek seafood restaurant. Keyword here: upscale. Upscale= synonym for expensive. This is my third time at Oceanos in the past year, so even though I keep making references to the cost, the food is superb.....hence why I keep returning. Appetizers: Grilled octopus is tender, perfectly seasoned. I had to beg my 12 year old for a bite before he finished the entire plate. ($20.00) Shrimp Saganaki: One of my favorite appetizers on earth. Four huge, sweet, tender, perfectly cooked shrimp in a tomato concasse and sprinkled with feta. The complexity of flavors....the sweet shrimp, fresh tomatos and creamy/salty feta are unbelievable. If I could have licked the plate I would have. ($21.00) Entrees: Day boat scallops over sauteed spinach and roasted lemon potatoes. Scallops were best I've ever had: large, sweet, perfectly seared/cooked. Spinach and potato were a little underseasoned. ($33.00) My husband had the special: Pink snapper with lump crabmeat and tarragon sauce and rice pilaf. Every aspect of this special was delicious. ($32.00). I have had dessert in the past, but was underwhelmed with the baklava. And I love baklava. Another Yelper commented on how good the greek yogurt is so I may give that a try next time. Dinner for three, sans wine or dessert was $174.00 (!!). Yup, a little steep. But if you are looking for fresh, perfectly cooked seafood with a Greek flare, Oceanos is worth a try. Tired of the usual spots we decided to give this place a try. We are absolutely glad we did ... I drove past this hidden gem on my way to a meeting and I always had it on the back of my mind. Easy valet parking, we hung out at the bar while our table was ready. Bartender poured very good drinks and before we knew it, we were seated. Grilled Octopus - Fantastic. What a nice blend of flavors. Chilean Sea Bass - Wow, I am new to fish and this was mild and flavorful. Stuffed Chicken - My wife said it was good. She is picky so I'll take her word for it. Dessert - Can't remember what we ordered to be honest but it was also great. Excellent service and despite the high end clientele, it is down to earth and very classy without too much glam. This was my first visit to Oceanos. It was a Wednesday at 11:45am. I took a seat at the bar in the practically empty restaurant. I ordered the Swordfish Kebab which came with complimentary bread and olives. I enjoyed my meal while watching the funeral of President George H.W. Bush on CNBC and the waterfall outside. I listened to traditional jazz and Christmas music was well as Sade's "Smooth Operator." The meal was full and satisfying. The room started to get a bit noisy as I turned around and noticed half the bar seats and half the tables were occupied which is very busy for any restaurant for weekday lunch. read more

I thought this place was just OK. Everyone in the area talks Oceanos up so we decided to try it out. We were pretty disappointed. The food was good but not as good amazing. The waiter had brought use two items that were wrong and stood by the table watching us the entire time. It was so over the top fancy that i thought it was a miss. A few of the items were cold and my wife's chicken was undercooked (she's 5 month pregnant as we stated to the waiter). The manager did come over and fix the check since they charged us for two items hat were incorrect. I ordered the halibut special $34 and they charged me $37. Valet parking for a lot that's ten feet from the door. Seems a bit unnecessary. Scotch was a nice pour and halibut was excellent. Each item gets a star read more

Came for our first visit for our anniversary. I mentioned it to the kind gentlemen at the host stand when we entered--more on that later. I will say that the food, service and ambience are first-class. We sat outdoors in the tented area which looks like it's set up for a very fancy wedding (the inside is super dark with table candles--way too dark for my taste but some like that). Even though the evening was warm there were large fans and we were very cooI and comfortable. We had a selection of delicious, very fresh-tasting oysters and then a red snapper special that was cooked absolutely perfectly, with crisp skin and tender flesh, and my wife had the whole branzino (I forget the Greek word for it) which she loved--really fresh and fantastic. And then to cap it off the nice folks at the restaurant surprised us with a delicious complimentary dessert with a candle for our anniversary--very classy and indicative of the atmosphere and service. I will say point out one negative--the prices. Be aware that this is not a neighborhood joint, this is fine dining for special occasions. We're talking Manhattan-level fine dining prices, which was a bit of a surprise for suburban New Jersey just blocks from the Paramus Ikea! You would be hard-pressed to find an entree that's not in the $45-$50 range and some way more. These are the kinds of prices you'll see at Michelin starred restaurants in New York like Le Bernardin. If you're OK with that then by all means go--you will have an excellent meal, just check your bank account first! read more

Oceanos has been a seafood staple in Bergen county for a long time, while I personally have not been here in over 5 years, it was even better than I remember! My husband and I, who enjoyed dinning out a few times a week have not been out to dinner since the start of the pandemic and adding to our family, our children are 2.5 and 7 months old. We selected outdoor dining for our first night out as parents of 2, we sat in the outdoor terrace section and it was perfect! Beautifully decorated, ample heating lamps (though it was warm that night for late March so we didn't even need them), the ambiance was wonderful and safe, tables spread out very well, even for outdoors. We had oysters and the grilled octopus to start, both were excellent. A bottle of wine (a fabulous wine list to note also) and a few cocktails later we had our entree, the red snapper special stuffed with jumbo lump crab, WOW! We are both seafood snobs and fairly particular and my husband who hardly raves said it was the best fish since we were on our honeymoon in Maui, now that's saying something!!! The cheesecake was so good (and worth cheating on my keto diet for) and so was the limoncello (not on the menu but as an Italian, I always ask for it!) Our waiter Matthew was wonderful, professional and personable. It was a perfect night for us to get away for a few hours, we lingered for a while because we could and we had the best time. Our meals almost all lacked flavor and anything distinct enough for us to consider returning. The one highlight was a solid octopus appetizer that I wish I ordered as a meal. Me and my husband celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary last night and Oceanos exceeded our expectations! Everything was perfect! I had the seafood over linguine and my husband had the 22 oz ribeye steak. Both were amazing! When you thought it could not possibly get any better...We had the tiramisu for dessert. It was incredible! The owner Peter and our waiter Matthew could not have been nicer! We will definitely dine at Oceanos again and have told all of our family and friends about it.
