Finally! Long awaited. I've been going to the Encinitas locale for years & this one is around the corner. The menu is great. I've never had anything disappoint. My go to: coconut shrimp, fish shop chowder and the Dorado, but you can't go wrong. Full bar, local craft brew and great staff. The building they took over is prime. This place is hands-down the best fish shop in all of the Oceanside. Parking can be a little tricky. Make sure you get the fish stop seasoning and definitely try one of their tacos. read more

My husband and I went into Fish Shop a couple of days after it opened. We realized that this company has other nearby locations and figured those looked good so we would give it a shot. When walking in, the restaurant is bright and airy and very spacious. You order at the stand and pick your own seat. Everyone who worked there was very nice, gave us warm greetings, explained the process, and checked on us regularly. The menu has lots of food and drink options (cocktails, wine, beer on tap). We ordered the fish n' chips, a small side of onion rings, and the spicy dorado taco (came to ~$39 not including tip). The price seemed a little steep at first, but when we got the food they were big helpings. We enjoyed the fish n' chips the most, including the yummy tartar sauce it came with! The taco was also pretty good, I just wished it had more spicy aïoli in it to give it a little more creaminess/heat (I'm a sauce girl). The onion wings were good, but they were our least favorite. They had just a little too much batter versus onion and weren't salty enough for our taste. All in all, we still ate all we could and still took leftover home. The atmosphere is really cool. Nice to be close to the beach, you can feel the sun and breeze through the big open windows, and there are televisions everywhere (with sound!!!) if you are looking to catch a game. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying more meals here. read more

Let me start by saying that I love to eat good fish and chips. Had a craving for fish and chips and wanted to venture out and find a different place. Found Oceanside Fish Shop conveniently located on Coast Highway. I was promptly greeted. Ordered fish and chips, shrimp and chips, fish tacos, beer, and a margarita. You order with the cashier and they will bring the food to your table. Food arrived fresh and hot. I like that the batter was not too heavy. It was a good ratio of fish to batter. The margarita was yummy. The vibe was chill...perfect place to meet with friends and family. I will definitely be going back. I recommend coming here to eat. read more

We came here last night and everything was awesome! My husband got the swordfish platter which was INSANELY GOOD! And I got two lobster tacos and I was really excited for them, but I feel like it lacked flavors we also got an elote taco and that was really great as well. Been wanting to try this place since the've opened. The order process is not executed well, and the taking of phone orders at the same time (all being done by the same person), is completely inefficient. We were not in a hurry, but it was a bit ridiculous how long it took. We never got our order in, and ended up walking across the street to LTH. We'll try it again in a couple weeks, but based on other reviews...not going to set my expectations too high. read more

We've been here four times since it's open and every time has been amazing. Tonight we decided to do takeout and while eating dinner and watching March madness, my wife noticed there was hair in her shrimp. Called the restaurant to let them know and the manager asked me to bring the food back and show her the hair. She said she didn't want to imply that we were lying, but she needed to see the product. It felt a little weird, my wife tried to look on the ground for the hair that she flicked off her hand and couldn't find it. Went back to the restaurant anyway and let Mel know hey if we're gonna call to notify you we are not going to be making it up. She said some customers do. She did remake the plate, but didn't feel very apologetic about me having to drive back to get my wife her dinner. Still gonna give the place another chance but the vibe did not feel great tonight from the time that I picked up the order to the time that we started eating dinner. Not that I was looking for it, but she did not offer a discount on this meal, offer to buy our next meal, or anything, just simply remade it and said sorry. Pathetic! I don't mind paying a fair price for good food But $7.75 for a marginal skimpy taco is pathetic. Their Mai-tai is excellent. Numerous types of fish can be fried, baked or grilled, with choice of marinade and side dishes. We had traditional fish and chips: 4 pieces of delicately battered Alaskan cod with traditional French fries -- very tasty. Cod was especially good quality. Food was fantastic! Shrimp, tacos, clam chowder, fish and chips all really delicious and tasted fresh. Can't wait to visit again. One con was that there was only one place to put in our order and it took a little while to make it to the front.
