Custom made me huevos rancheros even though it wasn't on the menu. Beans could use a little salt, but other than that delicious!!

The food here is genuinely excellent -- the chicken flautas in particular are great -- and that's the reason for the two stars. Unfortunately, after being a weekly regular for several months, I've realized I can't keep coming back. Service has been consistently unfriendly, even when the restaurant is not busy. I order the exact same thing every visit (no modifications), but it's rarely remembered, and interactions often feel tense or dismissive rather than welcoming. Portion consistency has also been an issue. The amount of chips and salsa varies from visit to visit, and when I've politely asked for a little more to match what was served, I was told only one basket is allowed -- something I've not experienced elsewhere or with other staff. I do want to note that service quality seems to depend heavily on who is working. On the occasions when a different staff member or the chef is at the register, interactions have been noticeably more pleasant and accommodating. Unfortunately, repeated experiences with one particular staff member have been consistently unwelcoming, which ultimately led me to stop coming in. The food quality is excellent, but for the same price, nearby Mexican restaurants offer more generous portions and much warmer service. As much as I've enjoyed the food, the overall experience has made it hard to continue supporting this place. read more

Tasty food with friendly service. I always enjoy my lunch at Ochoa's. Today we had a chorizo tostada and No. 6 - the chicken tamal with a chile relleno, with salad-rice-beans. Fresh ingredients prepared quickly and with care. Generous portions. Nicely crispy tortilla chips with 2 delicious spicy salsas, red and green. The jamaica is my favorite aqua fresca. read more

BE WARNED, you will absolutely get overcharged. I literally never write yelp reviews but this is my second time being overcharged at this place. I gave it another shot because the food is honestly good. But seriously, I have no idea how the cost that's on the menu board changes so drastically in their retro 90s till Last time previously my partner and I had gotten two breakfast burritos which on the menu was listed as $10.50. We had no modifications, no drinks and our total was $28? My girlfriend and I looked at each other and asked her if she heard us order breakfast burritos and the woman taking our order said yes. We asked why it's $28 and not $21? And she said oh sorry and changed the price from $13 something each to the correct price. Cut to, this evening. My partner and I are craving just a ton of rice and beans enough for three people ($17.70) (no judgement) and want to split a burrito ($11.50) together. We end up getting a horchata ($4.50) and mandarin jarritos ($3.50). Add that all up and what do you get? $37.20... even with Sebastopol's outrageous tax, which would be $3.81 on top of that, I paid $48.50 because there was a line behind me and I was in a rush after work, starved. When I asked if she could pop my jarritos a guy jokingly said "be careful she'll charge you for that too" and I kinda laughed... but girl clapped back and said "for her, no but you, yes" Just a little weird, put a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like I'm not the only one... the math just ain't mathin' Honestly, I don't understand why? Have the current prices change and they don't match the menu? But maybe advertise that and update the menu? I've been coming here for a couple years but they recently just started up charging to the max... seriously disappointed. read more

I have been going there for years and prefer their chile rellanos to anyone else's. Maybe just a matter of taste but the combination of a chile rellano with a bit of salad with it and chips makes a meal for me. I need to try their other menu items but I can't give up my chile rellano. read more

The food is great. The prices are fair. I just had to leave a review because someone complained about being overcharged at the Kiosk there, but there is no kiosk at Ochoa's, and the owner is not a man. I have been eating here for 30 years and the food is pretty much always the same, but maybe the owner has hired a cook who is not so great. Maybe someone should call and complain if the food is not so good. I don't know the owner personally, but she seems like she'd have a talk with the cook. read more

Stopped by looking for solid Mexican in Sebastopol but did leave a little disappointed. On the one hand they stuffed my burrito with carne asada but it did lack flavor and didn't love the salsas. Would likely go al pastor next time and hope to upgrade my review to 5 stars since I'm a Mexican good fanatic. read more

The 3-star review isn't about the food (which I think is really, really good), but for the unfriendly and off-putting attitude of the employees here. They're very stingy with their salsa (which I actually think is some of the best North Bay taqueria salsa I've had--no exaggeration) and will only begrudgingly give you a normal amount (two red and two green) for two people, if asked. A normal amount of salsa and a tiny, tiny bag of chips will be given to you with a big attitude. The last time we got food here (again, we very much enjoyed the food and food quality), we really disliked the way we were treated and decided that we weren't going to go out of our way to give them our business after this. Also, this experience is also after multiple unfriendly interactions over the years. If they dislike being in the food service industry so much and having to serve gringo customers, maybe it's time they considered a change or at least hire people that want to be there and can treat customers respectfully. read more

Authentic Mexican como hecho en casa (like home made). Restaurant is newly renovated pastel paint and furniture. Jamaica was authentic made from scratch. Flan very delicious. Non-traditional is the shredded cheese on the tacos-make sure to ask what is included on the taco. Tortilla on taco was not fully cooked so fell apart, but was tasty. Overall savory! read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid, so I may be slightly biased, but it is my firm belief that Ochoa's does the best vegetarian chimichanga in the Bay Area. For starters, it is actually ON the menu, which I greatly appreciate. At most places, I have to specially request it and that exchange goes something like this: Me: Can you make a vegetarian version of the chimichanga--no meat, no cheese? Person at counter: *scratches head in confusion* What you want in it then? Me: Refried beans, rice, pico de gallo? Person: *stares blankly* I don't know... *goes to ask chef* We can try, but probably won't work. Me: I've had it elsewhere; it can definitely work. Then when the chimi finally arrives, it is usually all skinny and malformed... like, how hard is it to substitute beans for meat? Anyway, that is not the case at Ochoa's. Theirs are plump and picture perfect, served with a pile of fresh toppings--lettuce, guac, sour cream, and pico. Chips and salsa are free, too. Another upside is that the rice and beans are always vegan. I mean, sure I cheat sometimes--I eat regular Mexican without asking about ingredients--but it is nice not to have to think about it! Admittedly, the rice here has a slightly different flavor than the classic, but it's still tasty! Prices are also excellent for the area, and take-out orders are quick. read more

New in town and came here on a whim to check out another local Mexican restaurant, and boy was a glad I did! I ordered the fish tacos and saw that there were 2 per order for $10 and I thought OK, well let's give them a try, thinking I would get two tiny street-style tacos but instead I got 2 enormous tacos with delicious and perfectly cooked fish fillets the size of my hand topped with fresh crunchy veggies and an incredible sauce. My husband got the carnitas burrito which was excellent. There was an extraordinary spice combination/flavor profile to the pork which I had not had before and really enjoyed, plus it was absolutely enormous and I got to have his left overs the next day - winning! I ordered a sausage breakfast burrito and got a burrito with eggs,sour cream, potatoes, cheese, and HOT DOGS. I was caught way off guard. I immediately lost my appetite and felt sick. It is unfortunate because in the past when I've eaten there, the food was decent but this ruined it for me. The only reason I gave a star is because they refunded my money. Food is good but here is the problem: 1) I had metal in my burrito. See picture. 2) they pull little scams on you when you are there...like when you ask for a reg burrito and a super burrito in the same order, all burritos will be super and charged accordingly or how they make it hard not to tip when using a cc...you have to push multiple buttons to not leave a tip (for take-out come on). When you ask for sour cream and guacamole on the side...more times than not it will be in (sometimes it's in the burrito and they charge extra for them on the side when you only wanted it on the side). The 2 stars is not because of the food. That is amazing! But we had an issue with the ordering kiosk. We were charged 2x for the order. We noticed it on the bank account a week later and tried to call to let them know. Both numbers don't work. So we went in. The woman only spoke Spanish so we spoke Spanish and explained what happened. She said she'd give our number to the owner and he'll call us. Several days went by and we went back in to see if he was there. He was and we explained what happened. He said if you don't press a button at the end it charges you anyway. He actually said I guess if 34.00 is that important to you that you had to come in to say something then here it is. He gave us cash out of the till like he was pissed off! After our poor interaction with the lady at the counter we decided to not even bother asking them to remake it. Wonderful food! I'm from Southern California so authenticity matters. I love it. The shredded Chicken is my favorite.

My bf and I eat here a lot. They have good burritos. One thing that disappoints me was the fact that when I went there for lunch today, I ordered 2 tacos to pay with my debit card. The minimum purchase was $7.00 but my tacos were $6.00. I ended up having to leave to go elsewhere because they wouldn't ya ale my card for $7.00. I will be back but not entirely happy about that. We go there at least 2 times a month or more. Ridiculous they would not budge on that issue . read more

I ordered the vegetarian chimichanga. It was delicious and enough for two people or one big piggy person. I was only able to eat half my food. My companion ordered the vegetable burrito, he said it was good. I come here about every couple months-great food at a great price and they even have McDougall menu which is superhealthy. Great food! So fast! It was like turn around and it was on the table! It's Not a good place for a large group. I love that every order got their own basket of chips. The salsa was soo good! It reminded me of our friend's dad's salsa and that was really nice. We all ordered different burritos and everyone loved all of them. There was no squeaky wheel in a group of people who have Mexican food on the regular. Tamales on Christmas Eve status family here. It's yummy! Go! When you try and support local restaurants during this time and give a good tip, I really only ask for nice customer service and what I am paying for. The lady was rudely unfriendly and we had ordered 3 meals. We got two little bags of stale chips and 4 salsas. I asked for more salsa and she stares at me and said I gave you 4.
