This place is great. Friendly servers as soon as we walk in. The aesthetic is very traditional and lively The food is always delicious every time we go. It always taste fresh always come into the table at the right temperature. Never have any complaints The service is always over the top very friendly. Some of the best Mexican food in Sonoma County in my opinion. The flavor on the Carne asada is one of the best.

2 dry soft tacos steak. Really good bean dip with chips/salsa

I was gonna order a beer but it was $9 for a draft. I asked for a bottle Corona. It was $9 as well. That is highway robbery. Nice people good service. But steak in my tacos being dry on a Saturday afternoon, I will not be coming back. Call me cheap but just ridiculous pricing, I'd imagine that is why there is not one person in here at 3 pm on Saturday

Ordered on the phone for pickup. Ordered: - shrimp burrito with refried beans, no burrito sauce on top - combo plate with 1 chicken enchilada and sope gordo carne asada - guacamole with chips - horchata - tamarindo Food was very very good!! Worth the price in my opinion! You get a lot! We got to our spot and opened the bags to 4 bags of chips, a hefty container of guacamole and perfectly foil wrapped burrito plate and combo plate!

Loved everything about this restaurant! I didn't know Sebastopol had it like this! HA! I was tardy to the party! I HIGHLY recommend for authentic delicious Mexican food! The service is very friendly and welcoming. They make you feel like family. It's large and beautiful inside, good for a large party, I would totally want my birthday dinner here! lovely pictures on the wall , the chairs and tables all beautiful! I love the aesthetic. Felt like I was fine dining in Mexico, (mind you I never been to Mexico) (lol) Food was sooo good!!! The menu is great, many things to choose from. I ordered the 1 item combo plate w/shredded chicken, green enchilada that came with rice and beans. Tasted so fresh!! My first bite literally warmed my soul!! Also, complimentary chips w/ refried bean dip & 2 different salas was yummmy! My friend got the chicken tortilla soup (it's huge) and said this is what you call real soup! was the best she ever had!! The broth was bursting with flavor and it was full of veggies. They gave us a little dessert. Not sure what it was called but it was delicious!! I WILL BE BACK!!!

A Delicious Detour in Sebastopol While on a day trip north of San Francisco, we took a detour into Sebastopol for lunch. El Coronel was right there, and it looked like a good option because we had our little puppy with us. It was a beautiful afternoon, and they had outdoor seating available. El Coronel Mexican Restaurant was founded by Armando Coronel in 2002 and has been a part of Sebastopol's culinary scene since then. It has been a family-run operation for over two decades and serves tasty Mexican cuisine. El Coronel is known for their sizzling fajitas, delicious combinations, flavorful tacos, and burritos. They have a beautiful patio with a complete outdoor bar. The interior is beautifully designed and looks comfortable for individuals and small and larger groups. We started with an order of Guacamole, their House Margarita, and Hibiscus Tea. The Guacamole was freshly made, and there was plenty of it! We enjoyed the combination of fresh guacamole and chips. The drinks were good, too. We decided to share a Parrillada (which means Grilled in English) for the main dish. There was plenty of food. The meats (Beef, Pork, and Chicken) were all fresh, done right, and flavorful. It came with a plate of rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and fresh tortillas. I could not leave without trying their flan and was very happy I didn't! It was one of the better flans I have had in a while. The staff was very attentive and friendly. A gentleman, who I think may have been the owner or manager, stopped by our table and asked how we were doing. He was very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our experience, and as we left, I made a mental note to come back and try their Molcajete! It looked very good!

The servers greeted me with a smile and told me to seat myself. The ambiance is great, with Mexican music and beautiful, colorful decor. The food was served within 10-15 minutes and it was HUGE! I did not expect it to be so piled high! It was fresh food with delicious carne asada. Definitely, will be back to try other dishes.

We had not been to El Coronel Mexican Restaurant in a long time and decided to stop. It was midday and not busy. We received great customer service and a large basket of chips, two salsas and a bean dip. All were yummy. My wife and I were amazed at the 4 item combo prices of $20.95! Wow, that is a great value. There is no way we could eat more than two but we like leftovers. We both ordered the 4 item combo and not surprisingly for us, we each had two Chile rellenos. My wife had a tamale and tostada and I had a cheese enchilada and chicken tamale. They had to bring our food on two plates. We really are fans of Chile Rellenos and were looking forward to these. They did not disappoint but they also did not wow us. The peppers tasted nice and fresh but the batter was really thin and there was too much cheese and it overwhelmed everything else. Don't get me wrong, it was good but not great. I would order again just not make a special trip to go there. The rest of the food was the same, good but not great. The value you get for so much food was great! We had a lot of leftovers and enjoyed them the next day. We will keep them on our list as they serve good quality food and the service was great.

Although the flavor profile on the salmon with citrus and saffron was not to my taste it was expertly prepared. All that said we received some of the most neglectful service I have ever had from a very nice server, who for no obvious reason left us alone for most of the meal. It got busier as our time stretched on, but it wasn't slammed and there was plenty of staff. We ordered plenty of food including two bottles of wine. We had to completely finish all of our appetizers before being asked about mains and we sat with empty glasses for ~20 minutes (possibly more) before we flagged someone down to get the second bottle; a bottle we left half drunk because it stretched our evening so long. I might give this place another try but honestly it was one of the most drawn out anticlimactic $400+ birthday celebrations (without desert) I have ever had. We could have done better at home for less.

It's inviting vs the stuffy atmosphere some places have. BABAGANOUSH PITA we got it for the kiddo expecting it to be run of the mill stuff you get. But the babaganoush had the extreme rich flavors of smoked eggplant and felt like almost half an eggplant went in there. Not diluted with tahini, garlic, just pure flavors of eggplant with tanginess of sumac. LITTLE GEM SALAD WITH RAINBOW TROUT was hearty, leafy and very refreshing. The pickled celery was the surprise. HAMACHI CRUDO - beautifully assembled with thoughtfulness, light, refreshing. A bunch of flavor bombs in there so each bite is an adventure. Basil making it refreshing, earthy crunch from hazelnut, sharpness from green onion, sweet tart kiwis. I think a bit of citrus would make this a superstar. Mandolin shaved limes perhaps? GRILLED MAITAKE MUSHROOMS - ok I think this was the chefs most technically impressive dish, with an exercise in playing with bitter profiles and turning it into a master piece. Grilled maitake gets the char from the grill is the first flavor layer, it's woken up by the wild thyme from the zatar. Next the Japanese turnips bring the second dimension with earthy beautiful bitter notes on a bed of a creamy tahini based sauce. It's finished with fresh parsley to bring a fresh element to it. Great stuff. Could raddichio be added to make this more challenging? I saw those crunchy POTATOES and I got them even after eating the meal lol. Do yourself a favor and just get them - they're hot, crunchy and perfect to pair with the vegetables. Finally we got their chocolate mousse with bruleéd bananas sorry couldn't take a picture before it was all gone. Great way to wrap. The staff were all super friendly and helped with picking things from the menu! I got the mystery glass of wine and they had made a fun game out of it. The Beaujolais was great too. Overall when you're surrounded by these amazing farms, vineyards and ocean - no better way than to bring them together - kudos to the creators of the Redwood for making this place with intentionality. I wanted to get the squash, duck pâté, spring pea salad, tinned fish items as well, I guess for next time!
