The taco plate is served with 2 types of salsa on the side, as well as chips, pickled onions, radish slices, a lime wedge, and a cucumber slice to cool your tastebuds after indulging in their mild or hot salsas. Their happy hour tacos are small, but have great meat ratio for the size of tortilla they are served on. They are the best value tacos in the area. The wonderful Heather Irwin, a fantastic food writer and Sonoma County treasure, recently published a list of her favorite local establishments for al pastor, gyros, shawarma, and other variations of the spit-grilled meat theme. When I read that she believes Sebastopol's King Falafel closely approximates the halal food trucks in my hometown of New York City, my opinion of her opinions was elevated even further. So when she said the marinated pork from Cancun here in Santa Rosa was a compelling homage to traditional al pastor, typically marinated and grilled with pineapple, my wife and I decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. In fact, we were impressed, if not nearly overwhelmed. We each ordered a marinated pork burrito. She chose the "macho burrito," while I opted for the "padre macho" version, which promised "double amounts." They were some of the most flavorful -- and bountiful -- burritos we've experienced so far. The marinated pork is a combination of assertively seared pork bits (almost like "burnt ends" from a beef brisket), pineapple, and not-at-all-too-hot chiles. A great variation on the "al pastor" theme. The balance of flavors and textures, encourages just one more bite, even as fullness threatens to become irresistible lethargy. And given how little of each we were able to finish at lunch, we've probably now got enough left for dinner, if not snacks and a light breakfast tomorrow. We ordered delivery via Grubhub. Our food arrived promptly, still warm, and packaged without leaks, despite the sauces that covered both burritos. We shall return, and fully expect to increase our satisfaction and delight from four to five stars. (We've got our eyes on those bacon-wrapped prawns pictured at the restaurant's web site.) Stopped in because this place is always busy. Tried the molcajete and it did not disappoint. The menu itself is one of the best in the county because every dish has an accompanying photo. It was served simmering in the stone bowl. Completely loaded with ingredients from shrimp to noodles and a sauce that was pleasant and enjoyable to the last drop. This is a place you're wish to revisit. Just note that after a while, the flavor profile of all the dishes start to taste like each other. Nice attentive staff. Typical strip mall location and nothing to look at outside or inside but this was a really great lunch discovery. We dropped in and ordered tortilla soup and 3 types of meat tacos (suggested by the really helpful waitress). It was really good - the tacos are made in-house and are corn with a hint of salsa in the mix giving them a reddish look and a really nice flavor and texture. The fillings were all good and nicely presented with a little radish and pickled onion on the side. Very enjoyable. The tortilla soup was huge and had more chicken in it than any I've seen in quite a while - perfect for a soggy and cold day. So, if you're nearby at lunch time I'd recommend going there just for those two items - next time I'll try more of the menu though it'll be tough not to choose the tacos again. read more

I have to say this has been the worse experience i've had in a restaurant. Poor customer service. My husband decided to try this place out. Went in with my two kids a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 month old. We enter and the place look okay, we were never greeted by anyone. There was only one serve in sight. The waitress finally brought us our menu and took our ordersI order a horchata drink and hubby a michelada, a molcajete and enchiladas for myself. And tacos for my son. My baby started to get fuzzy , i accidentally knocked my drink all over the table. You would think that since the waitress saw it happen she would approach and over some napkins or a towel to help me out. But NO. I waited and waited if she would come by and like i said offer something to clean the spilled horchata. My husband had to get her attention and ask her for a towel to clean up the mess ( which by now it was all over and spilling on the floor). She came back and brought us a few napkins, and literally just turn and put them on our table. By this time i was so furious. My husband and i clean the spilled drink with the few napkins we were given. Sooo i figured okay she will come back and at least brink a wet towel to wipe our table since it was sticky, NOPE she did not. I was trying to be polite and not rude about it, i nicely ask her to please wipe our table. I know it was my fault for accidentally knocking my drink out. But come on, where was the good customer service? Not even would u like another drink, i had to ask her for another drink. I work in retail and customer service is everything, so i know how i would of handle the situation. I gave this place 2 star mostly for not getting the service i was looking forward for. Overall the food was ok the enchiladas could of use a little more sauce they were too dry. The chorizo on my husband plate was over cooked, or i should say it was burned. As far as the food, everything needed salt, no flavor. Half the food was cold and I mean cold not just not hot enough. I am thinking it sat waiting for the missing item and that was added hot. The enchilada was cold and flavorless, the tamale was weird (it had a texture more like corn bread, not the moist lovely tamales I am used to), the chili relleno was just ok but at least that was hot.
