As a White Boi who grew up in a tiny town - this one - and whose first experience with Sushi was probably this place, I'd say it was pretty decent. Decent enough. I think it has potential to definitely hit the spot when you're craving it and there isn't really anything within 100 miles (maybe more, haha!). I couldn't tell you to come here everyday, but who the heck would do that anyway?! This ain't Mexican food! Besides, all that fish would probably end up killing you anyway. I think they have your pretty run-of-the-mill sushi rolls here. Nothing groundbreaking, but what do you expect when you're in Ukiah? The restaurant itself is super cozy, and a good place to bring a date to show her that you are a very cultured Human Being and they should be ever so honoured to be there with you. You're welcome! Our party of three headed there early, arriving about 5:15. The place was overrun and we were told the wait would be an hour. But there is nowhere to wait, you'd be blocking the door. This was my first experience with Oco Time. I had my order delivered by Door Dash. I found it to be more than enough food and the presentation of the food was lovely. They provided adequate condiments and utensils. The food was unique. It was good quality and prepared well. I wasn't blown away nor was I dissatisfied. I would probably need to try a variety of their menu to find what my preferences are. That said, I liked the California rolls and battered tofu. The garlic mushrooms were good, but I expected them to have more garlic flavor, I tasted mostly lemon. The teriyaki chicken was fine but could have used more sauce. Overall a good meal, no complaints. If you haven't tried them yet, they are worth a taste. read more

Sushi is overpriced and falls apart nothing I've had is good they never answer there phone

My wife and I happened to roll into town @ 8:00pm last night. With the remarkable reviews by others we decided Oco Time was the place for us. We stepped in their front door at 8:30, pleased that the place was busy with maybe 4 open tables. We stood at the entrance what felt like 3 or 5 minutes ( it was an oddly long time) my wife noted that each staff member who passed us, purposefully avoided making eye contact. Finally a young gentleman greeted us, stating he had a table in the back (we appreciated that as it was quite loud with kids at the front). Atmosphere was very lively. A nice place, (possibly I'm just being critical today. ) Browsing the menu. A good variety of items. My wife ordered a Poke bowl. Today I kept to a simple Bento box, I asked that the beef be medium rare,, at least not over cooked.. mixed tempura vegetables &shrimp. Tuna Homaki. Poke bowl looked great, my wife loved it. My bento box looked great. Bowl of rice was missing, so I flagged the person clearing tables, he called our waiter, who stated Rice is not included with the Bento box, but he could bring a side bowl for an extra charge. No rice with a Bento Box?? Unheard of!! I declined on the rice as the price of this Beto box was already a bit more than I wanted to spend on a late dinner. It was not more than 3 minutes that my meal was placed on the table,, I sampled a piece of my teriyaki beef,,, it was fully cooked CHEWY and cold ( probably because it was placed on a bed of shredded cabbage.) i didn't want to ruin our evening. Avoided complaining. Sushi was good, tempura was fresh made , an unexpected heavy thick batter, or possibly because it was the end of their evening - they were closing soon. We never saw another member of the staff- one glass of water, no refill. Our waiter came with the bill, I noted to him I was not leaving a normal tip, as I did not eat the beef because it was over cooked inspite of my request, and I commented being from Hawaii it's different to eat a bento without rice. He replied that he wrote on my order RARE. It just wasn't prepared that way. If he noted the beef was not as requested by his customer- Should he have brought it back to the chef?? My friend was tasked to find us a place to eat while we were in Ukiah, and I'm so glad she found Oco Time. I have been looking for a place that serves Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki in San Francisco for at least 3 years now. Little did I know I'd stumble upon it in this small town! I was SO excited to see it on the menu that my friends probably thought I was crazy. But I can't help it! I fell in love with okonomiyaki the first time I had it in Hiroshima. The places I tried in San Francisco were good, but it just wasn't the same. I ordered one of the vegetarian-friendly okonomiyaki that came with three kinds of mushrooms. I didn't know whether I wanted it spicy, so the waitress suggested to get half and half. I did like the spicy side, but the next time I come back I will order it without spice because I really want to concentrate on the mushroom flavor. Otherwise, the okonomiyaki was perfect: a thin pancake and noodles that had a good bite. They also have it in its original form (with bacon instead of mushrooms), but I really liked the earthy flavor of the mushrooms. Plus, I felt healthier eating it. The portion was large for me, so I ate it the next night. It made great leftovers that I kinda regretted sharing it with my parents. Though I think I could eat the whole thing in one sitting on my own, it's probably a dish best shared with another person. The restaurant is small, with a few tables up front a few seats at the bar, and a couple of tables in the back room. The food comes out quick, though so expect at least 20mins for the okonomiyaki to be served. It's casual, but can also be a cute place for a date. Service is friendly, and tbh, one of the chefs is easy on the eyes ;). I really am considering another trip back to Ukiah just to eat here again. read more

I visited Oco Time earlier today and I was very happy with my experience! I called ahead to order take out, and the hostess who helped me was very attentive to all of my questions and very friendly, even though I could tell they were really busy. When I came in to pick up my order, the hostess helped me very quickly and gave me my entire order in a clean, paper bag. I ordered the Japanese Oco- it is a Japanese pancake with shredded cabbage, egg, fried noodles, and pork shoulder. It was all topped with a Japanese mayo and lots of green onions. I'm giving four stars only because the pancake was not the best one I have had. The noodles could have been crispier, but that is my only complaint :) read more

My daughters' where playing a one day tournament soccer with their high school team. So, my sister and the boys went out for an early dinner. This place had the most yelp stars. So, we thought we'd go here! Well, upon entering, the host asked us if we had a reservation. We didn't know that we should've. So, I said no. He disappeared to the back. Looking around, a saw a bunch of empty tables with reserved signs. So, I wasn't sure if I should've left or stayed. He didn't instruct me to either. And as I was about to leave, he returned with pleasant news. They have a table that wouldn't be needed for 1.5 hours. So he was able to seat us in the back area. The waitress was patient as my 4YO was having a mental down over noodle soup. His preference is pho :( The entire time I kept apologizing. And she was so sweet and friendly! And kept a smile on her face even though I wanted to cry! Anyways, I got my terror the kids simple rice roll. And a miso soup. As well as their noodle soup. My other son wanted the salmon and cucumber roll. Both got freshly made apple juice. I order a 9 piece sashimi dinner. However, I did not want the mackerel. Just salmon. My order came with a miso soup (which she gave to my son rather than charge me for two). My sister got one of the Oco dishes. So, my 4 year old terror loves his meal. He stuffed his face with the little rolls. The miso soup looked and tasted just like what I make at home. Full of nori and tofu. So yummy! My other son's salmon and cucumber roll was quite large. And he was full after devouring. He said it was the best roll he's had. And he said his apple juice was so fresh! My dinner was amazing! Not only did it come with the Miso Soup I have my son. The bento box was full: a Salad with Organic Greens that had a dressing with a bit of a kick, Seaweed Salad (very tasty. Not slimy like other places), Tempura Tofu, Japanese Pickles (I could've eaten this as a slaw on its own), Edamame (would've tasted better if these warmed it up), House made Traditional Sashimi Soy Sauce (which tasted no different than regular soy sauce), and your choice of white or brown rice (wish they offered sushi rice). My sister and her Oco! Unfortunately, because my son had devoured his food quickly. She didn't have a chance to eat her meal. Just so I could eat in peace. Not sure if it was because she ate it cold hours later, but she said that she's had better! If my daughters' had another soccer day here, I'd definitely eat there again. We were underwhelmed with this Japanese restaurant. First they sat us across from the bathroom and it stunk so bad I asked to be moved. The courtyard in the back is lovely, but usually used for large groups. As it was later in the day we "got" to sit there. Our server was excellent, the salads tasty but the sushi rice was overly sweet. The bento box included fried tofu (not very good), teriyaki (too sweet), sushi, and surprisingly no side rice. We wouldn't order it again. My sushi "box" had very bland tuna and salmon... it wasn't fishy it was just tasteless. However the yellowtail was superb and I liked the veggie sushi roll. Overall food quality was good, probably the highlight of the meal. Service was ok; they were busy. Edamame (which is an appetizer) came out closer to the main course after asking about them.
