My favorite place to eat when I come to Willits for work!!! After being in the airport and traveling all day, I look forward to the small dining experience. It's warm and welcoming! I went about 8 months ago and the waiter that took my order, brought me the wrong ramen bowl. It was still delicious, just unfortunate that he wasn't really listening. And then I went a few months ago and was disappointed because the waitress had just received multiple to go orders and she told me I would have to come back. At the time I was a bit frustrated and decided I wouldn't go back. I'll be honest I was a bit hangry. I just got in town and gave it another chance! So glad I did! I ordered the Tonkatsu ramen. Delicious. Savory. Exactly what I wanted on a rainy dark day! I've also had the Ford Ranch Filet mignon ramen, which was also savory and warming. I didn't have the experience of too much chimichurri. Totally worth the drive the noodles on the Ramen soup where amazing definitely a healthy and delicious version of Ramen love it! Pork belly was to die for. Cute Lil spot to enjoy a nice bowl of Ramen service was great our food came out pretty quick and she was very attentive. read more

Phenomenal. One of the top five ramens I've had in my life. Veg broth with salmon. Joy was my server and was extremely helpful in helping me choose. Shocked to find something this good in Willits. Could not tell it was open though. There is no "open" sign and the light on top of the door was not obvious. I spent 30 seconds peering through the window, and apparently the server was waving at me, but I could not see inside. I only happened to try the door which was unlocked. I'm not saying this as a boomer. I've lived in a lot of places and eaten at a lot of restaurants. Give it a shot, you will not be disappointed. read more

I dunno where to begin. This morning I walked into the restaurant and was greeted so pleasantly by Joy. She handed me a to go menu so I could take it to show my other half. I saw that they offered a chicken miso ramen and a filet ramen. Both are what my other half and I usually gravitate to. It's 86 degrees today. We cooled off in our car and came back to eat here. This time greeted by Daniel and Catrina. Ordered the chicken ramen and my other half got her filet ramen. The whole seating area is unique and the music choices are smooth and friendly. Great, small place to stop and get a bite to eat. I had the pork belly tapa and it was delicious - the salad it comes with really complimented it nicely. My mom got the pork belly ramen which she also enjoyed. The setting is cute and you can eat in or get food to go. But I must say what's really incredible is that this place is a one woman show - the single person working here runs the kitchen, register, phones, and every other service all by herself. Joy was absolutely a pleasure and the food was amazing. The broth was delicious. They didn't have tonkatsu broth at the time but it was great because I got to try the vegan broth with all the tonkatsu fixings. The vegan broth was light but still so flavorful. A year ago I would have given it 5 stars. Our recent visit left a bit to be desired. I don't often write reviews but I hope that the feedback will be helpful to the restaurant getting back to how good it was. 1- the menu - revised from prior menus - was confusing. No price listed for the basic ramen dishes, just the plain broth. 2- Previously i had yummy cold sake and hot sake. I wanted cold sake but they were out so I checked the wine list, which was notes handwritten on a piece of paper in the kitchen, and there was little that appealed to me so I asked for hot sake. He started preparing it and then told us there was hardly any left,not enough for a whole order. 3 - No Japanese beer. 4 - The servers are young and basically do a good job (they are all really sweet nice people!). One thing: i ordered GF noodles for my ramen. He said they take longer. Rather than time my husband's ramen (not GF) so that the two could be brought out together, he brought my husband's about 10 minutes before mine and - so it wouldn't get cold, I told my husband to eat while I waited. He was almost done when mine arrived. The food is not inexpensive. Seems like a little more care could be given to staying well stocked, having better menus, and doing a little training with the cooks. We're not giving up... but will take a break for a little while and then give it another chance. WAS the best restaurant in town! Hope it will be again! read more

Staying in tune with eating after games we decided it was time to skip the allure of more fast food and check out Ramen Cubed. The vibe of the place was just fantastic, it is intimate and you are able to watch the chefs create. It is very colorful, the service was fast and efficient and there was reggae music playing... that part of Willits has a cool vibe. Our server and Sous Chef, Jesse, was a former Fort Bragg resident, a member of old and prolific local families we all know in the Dunsing and Fales clans. The food was fabulous, we grabbed a bit of everything from Ahi, Scallop Tapas to Chicken, Shrimp, Ford Ranch Filets and my choice Pork Belly Ramens. Their hot sauce, not pictures had a great flavor with some slow burning heat. We want to give this place . 10/10 definitely recommend Ramen Cubed in Willits! We stopped here on a road trip and absolutely LOVED it. I had the tonkotsu ramen with gluten free noodles and it was incredible. Super rich broth and the pork was to die for!! They were knowledgable and proactively accommodating of my gluten allergy. Ramen Cubed... I'm mixed on this one and here's why.. Pros: Warm ramen, lots of flavor, obviously fresh and organic ingredients, small menu easy to understand, and in Willits no less.. Cons: Really thick and soupy starchy broth, if you are a Japanese purist, it may throw you off a bit. Needs a bit more attention to detail from the dishwashing to the plating. Had to send back glasses to be rewashed and scrape crusty spots from the soup spoons, and with that non traditional unfiltered thick starchy style broth you have to def get on your dishwashing game. Price on two bowls of the tonkatsu and 1 tapas with hot tea, which the tea never arrived even though there was two employees and only 3 customers, was over $66.00. Attention to detail is everything. Overall: They have flavor, but its a bit sloppy. Japanese cuisine second only to its simplicity and balance of flavors, is all about attention to detail and technique. It's not in any way sloppy, and if it is, well it's generally not actually Japanese. Our cultural differences are massive. And the truth of those differences always comes out in our cuisine. Very small Ramen shop as expected from the photos provided by others. It's cozy. When we walked in, there was only 1 person working at the time. He finished up plating the food for others and took our orders after a few mins of sitting. Asked for a recommendation and he said the Tonkatsu was very popular. I specifically said "that's what I want, the Tonkatsu." As we waited, we can see the guy scrambling to put our dishes together. He brought over our dishes, I looked at my bowl very confused and I didn't question it. I ate it, "hmm this tastes different than what I normally get at my local Ramen shop." Maybe I should have spoken up but I'm not much to cause a scene. I ate it to only find out I was charged for another dish and many other random items. We had to let the waiter know, he charged us for the wrong things. He fixed it and I didn't fight the charge on the NY strip bowl since I ate it. It was maybe a 2/5 bowl. It was very greasy. The service was messy and the bill was even more messy. Would I recommend this place? Nah...come to the Central Valley if you want good Ramen or the Bay. read more

Ramen in Willits? I'm always up to be amazed and boy was I ever surprised by this tiny little place. Maybe holds 20 people tops, but wedge yourself in here, make friends with your neighbors and have yourself some delicious food. Was traveling and stopped here for dinner with a friend. She did the miso and chicken ramen, I did the scallop ramen with chicken broth base. Ordered the spice bomb on the side. Scallops in my dish were perfection. Loved the addition of veggies I don't consider a regular player in ramen. Broth was flavorful and watch out with that spice bomb. It is no joke! I just want to say this is one of the BEST vegan ramen I've had, and I have had some very yummy vegan ramen in Japan. I can't stop thinking about the crunchy chunks of fried "pork" and the savory broth. The waiter/chef was also very efficient. If you are a vegan, definitely check out the ramen here! read more

Just tried this place for the first time after randomly finding it. They have locations in Willits and Ukiah, which is cool. The owner, Taylor, is very friendly and passionate about the menu they offer - down to how the noodles are house made using locally milled grains with a vegan edge. We tried the Seared Ahi Tuna ramen bowl. The ingredients were very fresh, well-seasoned, well-prepared and strong flavor combinations. The rest of the menu options looked just as yummy as our meal was. The ambiance fit well with their menu style -contemporary meets traditional restaurant vibes. Also was cool to see the are a local Blue Zone Project restaurant which is reflected in their quality of food. Highly recommend trying this place out! read more

I came here for dinner with my cousin, and we were seated right away at the bar where you can see the kitchen. I got the filet mignon ramen, and overall it was not bad. I liked the toppings and the spicy bomb (they charge extra) but the pork broth was extremely salty. The restaurant didn't seem that clean either. I was watching the chef, and I saw a knife drop on the floor and he picked it up and didn't even wipe it down, and then right after he used that same knife to transfer my meat to the ramen bowl. Gross. I didn't want to say anything or make a scene cause I already was so hungry... but this place definitely needs improvement. read more

Solid ramen shop, especially considering the fairly 'remote' location. It's not really remote, but big city folks would snobbishly call it so. Really pretty location in old town Willits. Very small shop, so I assume this place gets crowded. We were in well after the lunch rush and were seated quickly and served very quickly too. The vegan ramen had a good but not great broth at the start...as the vegan pork chunks and the nori soaked a bit in the broth, it became amazing. The veggies (cabbage, bell peppers and edamame) were VERY cold when the ramen was delivered. This was relatively off-putting. My wife and I had to wait for them to warm up before we were able to finish them. I really feel like the ramen would be SO good if they threw all the components (sans the noodles) together in a screaming hot wok for just 15-30 seconds. But I digress. The most glaring problem we had was really that we weren't served any water...or asked if we wanted any water. Weird, right? Overall, this was good enough to warrant four stars despite the issues we had. Hell, having a vegan option alone starts the conversation at three stars. read more

Great lunch experience! Have always been disappointed by the lack of food options driving from Humboldt County to the East Bay and I'm glad I made the short detour to Willits. I have tried poor imitations of ramen before, and this is definitely not that -- more like a Mendo take on ramen that follows enough of the original formula to qualify as ramen. Stopped by this spot on a road trip from LA to Oregon after seeing its glowing reviews and appealing photos. We had high hopes--but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. First, let me say the staff was wonderful--friendly and attentive. The food, however, was a completely different story. Maybe living in LA has spoiled me, but I've never in my life been handed salt water in a dropper to "enhance" the flavor of ramen broth. The same goes for the so-called "chili oil," which didn't even compare to something as basic as Trader Joe's chili crunch. I'm not sure when this restaurant opened, so maybe they're still working out the kinks, but this was, without a doubt, the worst ramen I've ever had. The noodles were completely flavorless--better suited for a soba dish?--and the broth tasted like plain water. To make matters worse, we were grossly overcharged: $80 for two bowls of lackluster ramen and one can of sake? Not even in LA would that fly. If you're looking for great ramen, I'd suggest keeping your expectations low--or better yet, look elsewhere. read more

Maybe I've been spoiled by trying ramen in LA in very good spots, but this ramen is not close to being good. It's ok at best, terrible at worse, but the ramen just doesn't work. The broth is too thick and starchy, felt very greasy, and the noodles had no real taste. The egg that comes with the broth was just a boiled egg (cold, in my case) that didn't taste even remotely marinated. The pork in the tonkatsu tasted like an adobo style pork, not the type of pork they normally use in ramen, and it's very strong and offsets the flavor. I didn't have an issue with the service, or with the ambiance, both were ok for a small place. If you've only had Maruchan and you like ramen, this will do fine. If you're used to good ramen in other places, you will be very disappointed. read more

This was a hard one to review. The food was amazing. Let's start with that. The noodles felt fresh. The broth was rich and flavorful. The pork was interesting. I've never had pork like this in a ramen. It felt very like very middle eastern flavors. Good, but different. I've never had ramen like this and I've eaten it all over the states for years. I've never had asparagus, carrots, bell peppers, or zucchini in a ramen before. I really enjoyed that. I also tried the shrimp from another plate at my table and it was amazing. Very big shrimp, cooked and flavored well. Everything had great flavor and cook to it. The food clearly isn't the issue here. Now for the downside. The space is small. And that's fine. They're working with what they have. Indoor and outdoor seating. The stools inside though aren't great. Some of my party couldn't sit on the stools comfortably, including children. They're a little dangerous in such a small place for kids. They didn't have any high chairs so I had to hold my 2yo when she wasn't sitting on the opposite side of the table on a bench seat. I felt bad because she dropped a gorgeous spoon and shattered it because it's delicate. A metal spoon should have been offered for the kids. And they have a kids ramen (which was great), but no kid safe spoons. They also had the front door open. I get that was probably due to the warm weather and maybe a bad air conditioning unit inside, but there were a million flies buzzing around during dinner. The bathroom is also only accessible from the outside of the building. Again, a building issue, not a service issue. Overall, the food was amazing, and the staff was friendly. I hope they can get a more customer friendly space though. Don't let the seating deter you, because the food was great. Maybe place a to go? read more

Wow! We're so lucky to have found this place last night, halfway through our six and a half hour drive. I had the filet mignon tapas and it was the perfect bite after 150 miles of road food.
