    $18 Ocotillo Breakfast
    Ken M.

I drive past here daily and thought it looked really cute. Reviews are mixed, but I went against my better judgment and suggested it to my friends. To start, this place is purely for the aesthetics. Service was great, drinks were OK, but the food was heinous. I don't know in what world charging $18 for the pictured meal is okay, but that's Ocotillos MO I guess! My meal was bland, flavorless, and embarrassing. Absolutely no seasoning on any of our meals, but especially not the Ocotillo Breakfast. An afterthought of avocado, 3 half slices of cherry tomato, and dry arugula. Watery, unseasoned eggs, and an over salted poor excuse for potato. Save your money and eat at home.

Went here for a group dinner with business associates. It was a celebratory meal to thank the team for their hard work. This restaurant 100% delivered on this experience! Everyone loved their meals. Even my colleague who was skeptical ordering seafood in the desert loved her shrimp pasta entree. My bucatini was simple yet exquisite. Fresh and flavorful ingredients. Our server John was the best! Oh and I did not try the specialty craft cocktails but everyone who did raved about them. They had the Yuzu Paloma, passion punch, and chillin in paradise. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town and hopefully try the outdoor area. It was a little chilly during my visit so we opted to sit inside, which was nice and cozy.

A friend and I went here again recently. I didn't want to deal with the fuss of being downtown and with the large patio area, I figured that even without reservations on a Saturday night, there would be a better chance of getting a table outside and we lucked out! We shared the beet ricotta salad with honey and pollen as well as the burrata prosciutto appetizer. It looked like a charcuterie board with spicy peppers, and peeled flavorful grapes. I had the market fish, which happened to be salmon that evening. I really enjoyed this dish with came with an apple "hash" of some sort which brightened the flavor profile. I did have one cocktail, the Paloma. It's classic but I wish I had asked the rim to be salted because who doesn't love a chunky salt with their palomas or margaritas. Megan, our server, was awesome! She was highly entertaining and sweet. The three of us were able to witness a proposal this past Saturday evening. We asked if we should move tables because we were right behind a beautiful rose adorned heart shaped arch, but they assured us we were not in the way. What a magical evening though!

Living so close to The Ocotillo feels like a dream come true because now I can enjoy their incredible Happy Hour menu on a regular basis. Every visit feels like the perfect little escape with amazing drinks, beautiful atmosphere, and food that never disappoints. The absolute must-order is of course the Charred Sweet Potato -- flavorful, comforting, and completely unforgettable. It's one of those dishes I find myself craving throughout the week. Having a spot this good nearby is truly dangerous in the best possible way!

Been here a few times with bigger parties. They do it well. The food is good, definitely a different kind of vibe from a lot of Phoenix, I like that. I just don't think it really stands out and I never think of going there when I'm out in Phoenix. It's a good spot for big parties and I enjoyed my experience overall! The cocktails were nothing crazy but I did enjoy my experience.

Friends, My cousin and I had the awesome experience of meeting here for Sunday brunch. We were greeted immediately by a cheerful and attentive server named Malia!!! I highly recommend having her take care of you if you decide to dine here!!! The ambiance was buzzy, the drinks cold, and food outstanding!!! See my photo and video for the full experience. Will definitely return here, will have to try the dinner menu!!! Grade: A+++ Malia

Ocotillo is a beautifully designed new American restaurant in the midtown Phoenix area. To get here, they have some designated parking spots right by the side entrance of the restaurant or street parking all around the area. They have a spacious setup with seating outdoors and indoors. Wifey and I stopped by for brunch with a reservation. For their menu, they have a solid selection of different uniquely crafted dishes to choose from. We ended up getting the Honey Fried Chicken and the Smoked Brisket. Both items were delicious with nice flavor profiles. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. All of the staff very friendly and attentive. Definitely book a reservation and stop by for a nice brunch or dinner meal. There is a reason why this spot has over 1,000+ positive reviews!

They did wonders with their renovation. With an amazing courtyard, slick bar, and fancy restaurant interior, I was impressed with Ocotillo. Some of the food dishes were really good: for a party of 2 we got: Eggplant "Meatballs": their best dish we got. Very rich in flavor, and the polenta was well-seasoned with the texture of grits; a wonderful combo Ocotillo Breakfast: silky egg, a good choice Arugula Salad: tastes like what you'd expect Cauliflower OG: was a little bland despite how much flavoring it looks like it has Service was really slow though, and it's quite pricey, so I'd go on a slow day with something to celebrate. Amazing ambience though!

Our server Craig was perfectly attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. I would have thought I was in a much higher end, highly rated restaurant, than their prices would indicate. Food was delicious, plentiful and beautiful. And the venue! Oh my heavens it's amazing with beautiful in and outdoor dining with a vibe that is modern, hip yet calm and relaxing. This is a gem that you must experience.

I visited with my party of three on weeknight in December. We didn't make a reservation ahead, but made one on the way there just to be safe. Turns out, we didn't need one. We were greeted and seated right away. The outdoor space is vibey and offers a nice setting for dinner when the weather is nice. Service was friendly, but a bit off that evening. Though our server was pleasant, she wasn't particularly helpful and did not offer any recommendations. Fortunately, the food more than made up for it. We ordered the following to share: Ahi tuna $18 Cauliflower OG $14 Lightly smoked beets $14 Chitarra pasta $21 Shrimp raviolis $32 Market fish (salmon) on papaya salad $34 We started with cocktails and I ordered an espresso martini, which was delish. The small plates were excellent and were my favorite items of the evening. I typically don't order cauliflower or beets, but the cauliflower ended up being my top choice, and surprisingly, I enjoyed the beets as well. The pasta dishes were tasty, and the portion sizes were great. The market fish of the night was salmon, which was a bit disappointing to me. For an "elevated dining" experience, I was hoping for a more exciting fish option. I often eat salmon at home, so I prefer trying different fish when dining out. Needless to say, it was my least favorite dish. Although the fish was cooked well, I didn't love the papaya salad paired with the curry. It also took the longest to arrive, and we were almost finished with the other entrees by the time the salmon papaya salad finally made it to our table. Overall, an OK experience. I would have given it four stars if the service was better.

We had a wow experience for our anniversary at Ocotillo! We probably didn't need to have a reservation at 5pm on a Wednesday but we did, and were seated immediately in a quiet dining room with only a couple of tables occupied. In better weather I would love to enjoy the patio, an expansive and lushly furnished huge space. But we were here for happy hour and we ordered a bunch of dishes to share! We started with a beer and a seasonal white sangria, keeping it light. My appetizer was the HH smoked beets, with a luscious whipped ricotta and pecans. Although they didn't taste very smoky, the red and yellow beets were gorgeous and the ricotta very rich. The arugula garnish was just right. I loved this dish! Husband started with the HH arugula salad, lots of breadcrumbs here with Parmesan and a vinaigrette. Tasty but not special. He also ordered the HH wings as well, which we split. The wings are three full 3 piece sections of whole wings, crispy and savory with a peanutty sauce. We were thrilled by the flavor of the wings! The accompanying jerk potatoes were spicy, caramelized and really amazing! Hard to see the I tried the HH brussel sprouts with poached pears, and found the dish completely underwhelming. Too large Brussels sprouts, neither crispy nor soft with very little seasoning. This dish was a miss. I ate the pears and left the rest. Finally, the HH Ocotillo chicken was a generous portion with a warm potato salad under a tender roasted breast. We shared this dish and it was great comfort food! Our server was so excited to learn marriage tips from a couple together 37 years, she wouldn't let us order dessert. She had already planned to serve us an anniversary flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and berries. A perfect finish to our anniversary! Highly recommend you try Ocotillo too!

Stopped in for Arizona restaurant week and tried an assortment of dishes. The ahi tuna appetizer was tasty and a very large portion. We also ordered the eggplant meatballs and really enjoyed that as well. The chicken entree was decent with a large portion but the octopus was a bit overcooked, although had good flavor. The ambiance was nice and service was solid. The restaurant week menu was a nice way to try Ocotillo but didn't blow me away in terms of value.

My family and I decided to try Ocotillo for Arizona Restaurant Week, and so happy we did. I had been wanting to try this place for a while, driven by a couple times, and so glad it finally happened. Upon arrival, the restaurant has this fantastic outdoor space. Definitely such a great place for group events, and big parties for sure. Although this outdoor area was great, we chose to sit indoors because it was a bit warm out. We were greeted and sat almost immediately, with our waitress welcoming us promptly as well. The only downside was that despite the service being excellent, and the restaurant being beautiful, it was quite loud from the other patrons, and having the patio doors propped open allowed for flies to enter the dining space. Which for the record, was awful, but it was quite the nuisance especially for my parents. That being said, the food was very good. I decided to start with the Ahi Tuna and went with the Grilled Octopus as my entree. The Ahi was PHENOMENAL!! The sesame sauce with the crunchy rice, was such a delight. As for the Octopus, let me start with saying that I have never had grilled octopus before. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and be more adventurous, and I am so glad that I did. It was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. It had a smokiness to it, along with such a tender bite to it. On top of that, it had fried artichoke in it, that eaten with a bite of the octopus is just perfection. I expect to be back but specifically for a date night.
