Gulf shrimp po'boy after a single bite.
    Steven G.

I picked up lunch for myself and a coworker. I ordered the 7 inch Gulf Shrimp Poboy fully dressed and my coworker ordered the Southern Catfish Platter and substituted Swamp Fries (French fries covered cheese with crawfish etouffee poured over the top), a self-served 20 oz Coca-Cola fountain drink plus Hook sauce. My coworker enjoyed her meal, as usual, except there was no Hook sauce in the bag. I enjoyed my shrimp po'boy, but felt the amount of lettuce was skimpy. The shrimp were very fresh and nicely battered and fried. The cashier was patient, friendly, young and new to the register, but was eager to learn and not afraid to ask questions from experienced employees. Initially my order was made to eat-in, but I wanted it to-go. The cashier apologized and the order was reassembled. I would go back to Off The Hook, but for a dine-in experience.

    Catfish and shrimp.

Really good poboys here, the roast beef is my favorite. I'm a fan of the onion rings, fries and etouffee. And you have to try the T boy toast. See ice is quick and the place has a nice ambiance. Definitely a must try.

This was suppose to be potatoes salad

I got seafood gumbo was cold only juice and rice. My daughter got the red beans and they were also cold and watery. I will NOT go back

First time here and I throughly enjoyed the flavor and the options they had, wish I took a picture before I started dominating it.

Food and service was superb! With love from Dallas, TX I'll definitely be back! Flavor was on point!

Really enjoyed my meal here! I had a catfish poboy, chicken-sausage gumbo, swamp fries, and fried bread pudding bites... everything was great!

Good, fast cooked food. Right now there is a July special for a $7 shrimp platter (usually $11) that includes hush puppies, fries, and fried shrimp. Love the chicken and sausage gumbo. This restaurant is a good choice and the closest thing to a good home cooked meal.

After a previous not-so-great experience at the bar, I received a call from Jason, the General…read moreManager at Don's Seafood in Gonzales, who personally reached out to apologize and invited me to come back so he could take care of us. He said, "Next time you're in Gonzales, please stop by -- I'd love to meet you." So this past Sunday, Parker and I went in for brunch -- same time of day as before -- but this time we sat in the dining room, and the experience was completely different and absolutely wonderful. From the moment I walked in, Ava at the host stand smiled and said, "Oh, you're back!" and that right there is what I love about great front-of-house teams -- you feel remembered and welcomed. I asked if Jason was there, and it turns out Sunday is normally his day off, but he came in just to see us. That alone meant so much. He was warm, fun, genuinely hospitable, and made us feel truly cared for. And then Connor came by -- now sporting a mustache that somehow makes him look five years older -- but he recognized me right away and gave me a big hug. That kind of genuine connection says everything about the people who work here. Our server, Aaliyah, was phenomenal -- friendly, attentive, and always offering great recommendations with the best attitude. We started with Bloody Marys (which we loved), then ordered 3 pounds of crawfish, which also comes with corn and potatoes. It's early in the season, so they were lightly salty, but still absolutely delicious and perfect with the local draft beer we ordered (I believe it was from Parish Brewing). Such a great pairing. Parker ordered the half grilled shrimp with chicken gumbo, and I had the fried oyster po'boy with seafood gumbo -- mine was fantastic. His gumbo leaned a little salty, but overall everything was flavorful and satisfying. And then... Jason surprised us with king cake, just in time for Mardi Gras. He recommended strawberry and I also went with a classic because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to king cake -- and it was perfect. What really made the experience special was the atmosphere: families, couples, friends -- you could feel that this is a true community spot that people love. It was lively, warm, and full of good energy. Thank you, Jason, for going out of your way and turning a bad experience into an unforgettable one. Thank you, Aaliyah, for being such a wonderful server. And thank you, Connor (and that mustache ) for the hug and the warm welcome back. And thank you, Don's Seafood, for reminding me why this place is such a Gonzales staple. We'll definitely be back.

It is a staple of the I-10 corridor and Don's Seafood is a Lafayette standard now expanded to multiple locations. The Gonzalez, LA location is full of Cajun and traditional southern charm with a modern feel. I sat at the bar and got my Abita beer (my New Orleans go to) and a heaping plate of crawfish (standard 3lb order with corn and potato sides). Takes me back to growing up down south and well seasoned, not too salty or lip burningly spicy. Excellent size for early March as well (if you want mini lobster big, visit in early May). The bartender stayed attentive and made sure to get me the second Abita to wash it all down. Can't wait for my next trip!

So, I gave it a chance. We made reservations and were seated almost immediately, which was a great start. The restaurant was a little cold inside, the strawberry lemonade was delicious and the food overall was very good. The oysters were actually really good! I was especially excited that they let me try one I had never seen on a menu before, the BBQ oysters jalapeño. It was fun stepping outside of my usual order, I was glad I did. It was a rainy day, so we ended up getting pretty soaked coming in and leaving but that certainly wasn't the restaurant's fault. What really stood out was the service. Our waiter was incredibly accommodating, attentive and friendly, the entire waitstaff made us feel welcome. The restaurant was also clean, bathroom as well which I always appreciate. Overall, I had a great experience. I'm glad I gave Mike Anderson's a try. Great food, great service and I'd definitely come back.

All the standard fried seafood is what you hoped and is the best. Rich dark Seafood Gumbo with layers of flavor. I enjoyed the Gulf boiled shrimp and sweet corn on the cob. Shrimp was very fresh, perfect seasoned and cooked, meaning peeling the shells easily fell off. My wife and I shared the Yellow Fin Tuna Steak blacked just right. All in all a wonderful dining experience capped off with coffee and turtle pie topped with praline ice cream! If given the chance we will return. Keep up the great work fellows.

We ordered the 50-50 catfish and shrimp combo and the c'est la vie potato. With our tea and lemonade, the total came to $47.64. Unfortunately, the meal definitely did not meet our expectations. The fish and shrimp were small, the potato was small and undercooked in the middle and hard to chew. Only saw two small bites of crabmeat in the sauce. Well, the food itself had an acceptable flavor, it just was not enough to be satisfying. We left hungry and ended up stopping somewhere else to eat. I will say the waitress was nice.
