I met my husband at the bar here one late afternoon. We sat at the empty bar and were told they don't open until 5 for dinner. The people working to set up for the dinner crowd were more than happy to get us a drink and had no problem preparing pizza and a sandwich to go before the 5pm opening. We were made to feel very comfortable not like we were putting them out in any way. I decided to try it for dinner with friends. It was a very busy Friday night about 7. We had to wait and got wine at the bar,. Decent wine in a decent glass, a pleasant surprise and the bartender smiled in spite of being so busy. There are lot's of pretentious bars out there, this is not one of them. The food was worth the wait, we didn't feel rushed, our waitress was wonderful. The kid at the door was new and learning I could see the waitresses helping him out. A great bunch of people at Off The Vine! This is one of the best places around. Lunch is serve yourself, sandwiches are on a variety of fresh bread. Dinner is fresh, cooked to order. The portions are not huge. If you want to eat like a pig you should get the pre-made ravolis at the all you can eat buffet. read more

We've been to this restaurant before Covid, and recently got takeout. Both experiences were amazing - food is so so good and unique! Not to mention fairly priced. Sometimes takeout can be iffy and not as good as eating at the restaurant, and portions can be smaller. But I have to say this takeout was superb! We got an arugula parmagiano salad, eggplant Parmesan, and a Gorgonzola spinach flatbread - all super tasty and cooked well. Highly recommend giving them the business they deserve ! read more

We arrived early evening and one other couple all ready seated. They attempt to put us beside them at one of the high tops, only to have the other couple question it. The next couple in are seated next to us, really! Gets better, three couples at restaurant, and we wait 40 minutes and still no pizza. Can't find the waitress, so I approach the gentleman who looked to be the own. Explained situation to him. They found our pizza in the to go orders. Gets better, no new pizza, they reheat it, burned it and charged full price. They have no concept in customer service or how to appropriately compensate for poor service. They should watch the Domino commercial, at least they get it right! read more

Great local spot. Service spotty. Waited for a table and they forgot us thought we were already seated. Understand one mistake. But then we sat and waited a long time for anyone to come to our table and were asked "has anyone waited on You yet?" Then we had to wait for the check and had to find waitress so we could pay our bill. Off the Vine is as good a restaurant as it gets. I regularly order pizza from here and find it as good as any place in Boston. My most recent experience was for an eat in meal for two: I ordered the pan fried scallops, and my dining partner ordered the salmon. Each of them was as good as (if not better than) Legal Seafoods. The salmon was prepared perfectly and served over rice. I thoroughly enjoyed my scallops with sweet potatoes. The service was great, as always. The staff seems to go out of the way to make the dining experience a pleasant one. Off the Vine isn't the closest place to me, but it's definitely my "go to" place for a nice dinner out. read more

This is between a 3 and 4 star location - I'd come here again easily. It's not amazing, but it's good with a wonderful staff and a pleasant enough atmosphere. Let's split this into the good and the bad, based on many visits. Good first. Atmosphere is a solid 5 stars. Small bar-like room with high tops, intimate and attractive with an open kitchen . Food is 4 stars. Quite good, but not exceptional. Pizza crust is intentionally crisp and thin, but a bit cardboardy with no bite or texture to it. Good toppings, a bit overly saucy perhaps. Salads are quite good. Pastas are mostly good. Drinks are excellent, although prices tend to be high. Good cocktails, Great draught beer selection. The bad: service is generally slow. The kitchen and wait staff always seem understaffed, whether it be weekdays or weekends. As long as you aren't in a hurry, it's okay. But expect long waits for food and for your waitress. It's also not very family-friendly. No kids menu and almost all high-tops, and a bar atmosphere. Of course, for many this is a plus! They do offer a couple kid-friendly items not on the menu if I recall correctly. All said I recommend it if you are prepared to loiter with friends over drinks and food. I would first like to begin by saying that this place is as authentic and delicious as it gets. My wife and I have been going to Off the Vine for both lunch and dinner for over three years now and can honestly say have NEVER been disappointed. Lunch time is aways busy but service never fails to be friendly and efficient. The "Off the Vine" sandwich is one of my favorites, but their salads and wraps are also delicious and filling. As for dinner, if you come from an Italian family (like my wife and I do) you will immediately be able to tell that this food is not only fresh, but authentic. Before you put your mouth to the fork, you will be able to tell it is homemade just by the look of it. It took me almost a year to order anything but the chicken parm and pasta with Bolognese sauce, until my wife finally convinced me to share a pizza. Pizzas are all flatbreads made with fresh ingredients and don't give you the greasy "hangover" like most pizza joints do. Bar selection is top notch. Beer on draft is always being updated to keep up with the seasons. My wife is a religious wine drinker and choosing a glass off the wine list just may be her favorite part of the night! The last thing worth mentioning are the prices. The best word I could use to describe them is bargain. Entrees are $18 MAX and the amount of food they give you could feed you for a week. You're not going to find prices even close to this place at any other italian/ pizza place around. Not to mention for quality of food you're getting. Off the Vine is 100% worth the try. Friendly staff, authentic and homemade food, acceptable prices and amazing atmosphere. You won't be disappointed! read more

A great "hidden gem" along Route 1 in Rowley, MA. Their sandwiches are large and filling, their salads varied and tasty, but for a real treat, try one of their flatbreads! We ordered the Capri and the Taco flatbreads, both of which provided a very different "pizza" experience. Add to the food a wide variety of beers, wines, and mixed drinks, and you have the makings of a place for a great night out. To top it off, the staff were courteous and prompt without being overbearing, ready with suggestions that did not fail to be right on the money. Definitely a place to visit again. read more

The wedge salad is truly the speciality - bacon and a nice thick dressing. Nice little restaurant not bad food and specials. The calamari was not well seasoned and bland. The Osso bucco wasn't bad, it was really just a very large pork rib, this is not the lamb shank that I am used to ordering. The pork was very tender and baked in a nice tomato sauce. The martinis were water down and had crushed ice floating in it. :( the desert was good. It was a neutral experience. read more

Had lunch here for the first time in a few years and noticed they've added a full bar and a big pizza oven so I'll be coming back to check out their pizza in the future. As for lunch, they have a good deli selection and everything seems fresh, which is great. My mother and I both had the Vine Special sandwich which was chicken, fresh mozzarella, sundried tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette in a baguette. It was very good, I definitely recommend. Only downside is they don't have full service or a menu for you at lunch, so you order at the counter and then seat yourself, but that's really a minor downside. read more

Went back after a long hiatus. Disappointed. This used to be a favorite! Staff, as usual, was awesome but the food was not so great which is surprising. Shrimp cocktail was overcooked and rubbery, rice was dry, the only things cooked OK were the scallops and asparagus most likely because you can't cook them ahead of time. My assumption, its Monday and everything is leftover from the weekend... but that doesn't excuse overcooked shrimp. Yeah, for one of my former favorites its suffering the I'll effects of success maybe? My dining companion was disappointed too and was unimpressed especially for the price. Disappointing. read more

The food is always great here. The 2 stars is for the customer service. The last couple of times I went here with friends we literally had the lights shut off on us as a way of telling us the staff want to go home. It was still early! We were ready to buy more food and rounds of drinks but we ended up having to go down the street. Also, yelp says your deliver, I've called for delivery and was told you do not. OTV has been here for 18 years just two towns over and we surprisingly just discovered it this summer! Hidden gem that we have missed visually many times getting to Down River ice cream a few doors down. The food is aaaaaawsome. Very crispy, yummy flatbreads, salmon always cook to perfection, moist chicken parm with homemade ziti, and wonderful salads. Very casual with mainly high top tables. For a family place close to us in topsfield this is a 5-star. We used to live in the city so have previously been spoilt for choice, for a place that is **family friendly** simple Italian this place competes with Boston / Cambridge. We went with two kids and sat in the front porch area. The dining room, open kitchen and bar looked great but with two young restless kids we were grateful to sit away from the crowd. I had a mussels app that was amazing. I really hope they put it on the menu, hint hint, and keep it exactly the same as when it was a special. We had pizza. Plain (of course) for the kids. Sauce was top notch. The style of pizza reminds me of Emma's in Inman. Flatbread style, like thicker thin crust. We had the Neapolitan. Crust, sauce, cheese and caramelized onions were great. The chicken was unusually large. I like that, my wife less so. Beer selection and wine both good without crazy markup. We had two pizzas, two beers, three glasses of wine and the mussels app for $75. Wait staff were all really good- great with the kids and patient. It felt like (for two tired parents of a 3 and 5 year old) we had a night out. The kids enjoyed it too ;) read more

Let me start by saying I give this place a ton of business. We order sandwiches and salads to-go all the time. The ingredients are good and fresh, quality is great. It's hit or miss when you eat-in; we've gone a couple times and it seems whatever we want to eat is already "sold out". The service is slow but they are friendly. The pizza isn't their strong suit. It's been burnt, it's generally just not very good and the "large/regular" is small especially for the price. It's a nice spot if you don't want to travel to Newburyport or the Danvers/Peabody area. We work nearby and there are not a lot of choices in the area for lunch. We keep going back and every time we do, I ask myself why? The takeout salads are tiny and so expensive! You don't even get a piece of bread with them. Sometimes they are delicious but sometimes they are so bad. Many times I have had cores of the lettuce or cabbage, completely inedible. A couple of tomatoes on top. They always forget to include my chicken which I pay an additional $2 for and its like a tiny sliver. I called so many times and the last time they said they would credit me my $2 for the chicken but never did. I always go on my lunch break and they tell me to come back but by the time I've driven there and back my lunch break is over. They don't even includes a fork or a napkin in the lunch order. This place is more of a sandwich/salad joint during the day than an Italian restaurant, which I suppose I could have found out via the interweb. The bar had an amazing selection of spirits, beer (both bottle and draft), and the wine time. The food was good but nothing amazing. I had a Groupon, and after ordering tried to pay at the counter with it only to be informed that it didn't work on the lunch menu because it is "completely different." If only it had said that on the voucher. I'm not even a cheap-o and I tip well but after recently moving it was going to be a treat to go out to a nice lunch without spending much. I really like their lunch sandwiches; although I do find it weird that it is deli by day (no table service) and restaurant by night? It's very confusing. I've been for dinner many times since it's local, but it is hit or miss and I find the prices pretty high for what you are getting. I've made my way back to Off the Vine several times since my initial review so it's about time for an update! We have had a good sampling of the menu since our initial visit and have always left happy with the quality of the food here. My personal favorite is the kobe beef burger which is just so tasty! The salads here are great as well. Generally, they have the best beer selection in the area but it can be a little pricey, ranging from $8 to $9 for the good stuff. Definitely the best around and worth checking out and enjoying. read more

Good place for lunch or dinner. They have great sandwiches and even bake their own rolls for them. The meat is boars head. They also have a large pizza oven and make really good pizzas for dinner. The location doesn't really stand out to most people driving by, but if you are passing by this place on Rt 1 during lunch or dinner, it's worth a stop in. I suggest the turkey club for lunch! I only went here once as I thought that it looked nice and I wanted to check out the new restaurant and well I was disappointed to say the least! The atmosphere was WEAK and I am tall, 6'2" but I felt weird on these TALL Bar Stool tables and chairs and I was not sure WHAT the gimmic was, it made it feel weird and the tables were SMALL, and the help was kids who didn't care that others could see them and it was just weird and lackuster. I have not gone back since. The food was as boring and bland as could be. I would NOT go back. Sad. read more

Went to Off the Vine for the first time with my girlfriend last night. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK! Great food, great drinks and great service. We had the buffalo tenders for an appetizer, definitely one of the best I've had in a long time. After that we split a Caesar salad with lots of large homemade croutons, delicious thick dressing and large fresh shavings of Parmesan cheese. For dinner we got the margarita pizza with red sauce and wheat dough. Once again delicious! Took a while to pick the pizza as they have many wonderful options, plus you can get red or white sauce and you also have an option for regular fresh made dough, wheat dough, or gluten free dough. There is also a lot of other tantalizing items on the menu and we will be trying many of them the next time we go back, which will most likely be sooner than later!! read more

My husband, daughter and I went last evening for the first time, combination Mother's day and birthday celebration. We all loved it.
