Fried chicken sandwich and French fries
Donna M.

Tried Bradford Tavern after many years. Looked like there was a private party going on upstairs. We were seated right away after being asked if we wanted to sit in the bar area or dining room. We chose the dining room. There seemed to be some confusion as to who was going to seat us. Service was a little spotty-just seemed inconsistent as to who was supposed to be handling our table-we had 3 different servers coming over to us at different points. Food was good-started with the Buffalo cauliflower, very good. I had the baked haddock over mashed potatoes with the Ritz cracker topping. Very plentiful serving. Tasted great, although the topping seemed to be a bit too salty. My son had the fried chicken sandwich. He said it was really good and I kept sneaking his fries because they were very yummy. They had that extra crunch-is that from double coating?? I don't know what they do, but it was yummy! My husband had the poke bowl and he said it was as very good as well. We were in a rush to catch a train so no time for dessert or coffee-next time!

Restaurant is located in a old house very cozy and casual homey place. Service was excellent very friendly and pleasant. The chicken nachos were delicious and full of everything delicious the shot ribs with gravy and French fries were different very tasty comfort food and the pretzel sticks were very good the comfort food was excellent. I would recommend this place for a good meal and a nice place to take a date.

Hi, Had an awesome lunch today,, ( as usual). Just wanted to say thanks to Sherry, she was our server today. I bring my handicapped brother there pretty regularly. He enjoys the food and it's easy for us to access the dining room as he is mostly in a wheelchair these days. Sherry, was awesome! So good with my brother, patient and understanding and very accommodating to his limitations. Bless you and I'm sure we'll see you again!

We recently got married at Bradford Tavern, where the third floor event space was the perfect setting for our intimate event. The room came together with floral arrangements and just a few decorations in addition to the supplied table settings and sparkle lights. There were plenty of menu options and we chose to have guests arrive to beautifully presented charcuterie and sushi. After the ceremony, dinner and dessert were served buffet-style. Everything was fresh and our guests are still raving about the food. Event coordinator Mary was nothing short of extraordinary in her guidance and care with our arrangements and the entire staff was incredible throughout the event and couldn't have been kinder. We emphatically recommend Bradford Tavern and fully intend on returning for our anniversary and other occasions.

Food was excellent! Great cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Sat by the fireplace and it was the best meal of our trip.

Although it wasn't busy, we waited quite a while even for beverages. When the waitress eventually took our orders, I asked for a cheese burger club sandwich, medium rare, add onions. My husband got a chicken parm sub. When we finally got our lunches, she served mine with no French fries, which I eventually received a few moments later. The burger on my club sandwich was so overcooked it was like a piece of shoe leather. There were no onions, and the minuscule piece of cheese didn't look or taste like cheese, but reminded me of a piece of curled up parchment paper. My husband's sub was fair but she forgot to bring him the glass of water he'd asked for and he had to keep asking for refills of his iced tea. Overall a dreadful experience when we had been looking forward to a tasty, quick meal. The first time we've ever been there, and also our last.

Their breakfast sandwiches are fantastic, as well as their Eggs Benedict and waffles. As others have mentioned, the place is incredibly clean, which contrasts quite a bit with a competing breakfast joint right nearby that is not really kept up at all. I highly recommend this place.

When you walk in, the place is beautiful- sort of modern rustic chic with beautiful string lights. We ordered mussels and wine to start. Mussels were fantastic. Meaty, flavorful and plenty for everyone. The entree is where it fell short for me. I got the shrimp pasta. While the flavor was there, when I cut into the shrimp they still looked pretty translucent to me. After eating one and cutting up a few others, I felt that they were undercooked. The waitress said they wouldn't cook them more but she could bring the plate back and ask if they were cooked through. My plate came back and I was told they were cook so I sat there pushing soft, nasty shrimp around my plate while just eating spaghetti. My boyfriend asked for a medium burger and it was definitely rare to medium rare. When this happens, generally you offer to bring out new protein cooked again or ask if the guest wants something else but I was just left to feel like I was nuts. Whatever, into dessert. Now for dessert, I thought we'd try the cookies and ice cream. cookies were completely raw ( not just soft) and also not hot and the ice cream on the plate looked like it was pre scooped and refrozen. While I loved the concept of this place. Relaxing getaway where you can just do it all onsite, I honestly would spare yourselves the experience of the restaurant or order fish and chips or fried chicken) and just dine in Newburyport.

Well, first visit after reading different reviews. Traveled…read moresome distance to try. Ordered a fiddlehead double IPA with 8.2 abv Smoked bbq chicken wings 2 meat combo of ribs, brisket, Mac and cheese, bbq beans Well, smoked wings were outstanding and some best I've had .... Just right amount of smoke flavor. Brisket was a huge wow... tender, moist and some of best brisket I've had at many bbq spots throughout USA. Ribs had a nice smoke ring, a bit salty for my tastes, but still an excellent cook on the ribs Mac and cheese was great, I wanted a multi cheese taste... add a parm cheese to it... still excellent cook on the Mac and cheese Beans very good, I like a bit more molasses, with few chunks briskets ... excellent however Corn bread on dry side...needs improvement Only one option for bbq ... I wanted a peach flavor for my brisket, but all good Excellent bbq with outstanding wings . I'll return .

The pork belly sandwich special was an unforgettable mouthful: juicy, cheesy, and perfectly stacked on toasted rye that added the ideal crunch. We were shocked (in the best way) by the salad portions--massive! Easily enough to feed a family of four, and fresh as can be. The cornbread? Soft, sweet, and heavenly with the honey butter. We did think a little toast would've helped that butter melt just right--but still a must-order. The house pickles were crisp with the most satisfying snap and bold flavor. We also tried the hush puppies with their unique dipping sauce--super creative, though not totally our vibe. Limited seating means you might wait, but trust us--it's absolutely worth it. Booth or table seating. The Rusty Can is a flavor-packed experience from start to finish.

Even the coleslaw and tartar sauce were made with care. The servers hustle like crazy. They treat you like good friends. Some diners may have frowned on service. Those girls never stopped, and they smiled and laughed. (Who doesn't need that these days?) It's sea scallop season, so even those scallops are expensive I had to do it. The scallop dinner w/fries and onion strings was a bit over $35, but there were 14 huge, right off the boat succulent scallops. The burgers also looked great. Get on over there.

**Classic local watering hole with solid food and atmosphere**…read more The Chote Pub is definitely a neighborhood spot through and through. You can tell the regulars get priority attention from the bartenders, but we eventually got taken care of too - just be prepared to be patient if it's busy and you're a new face. The food was good with very generous portions that definitely give you your money's worth. Drinks were well-made and hit the spot. We loved the setup for watching football - great views of the games from multiple angles around the bar. **Important heads-up: This is a CASH ONLY establishment.** Make sure you stop at an ATM before you arrive, or you'll be making a quick exit to find one. The vibe here is very much old-school local pub - if that's your scene, you'll love it. If you're looking for something more polished or trendy, this might not be your spot. We enjoyed the unpretentious atmosphere and will likely be back, but it's definitely worth knowing what you're walking into first. Bottom line: Come for honest pub fare, generous portions, cold drinks, and a genuine local experience. Just bring cash!
