Stopped in for a quick drink at the Bradford tavern prior to a wedding in the area. The place was pretty quiet but the staff was friendly and saw we were taken care of quickly. The only negative I had would be the tap lines tasted a bit off. Not undrinkable by any means but just a little off. Service was okay. Restaurant itself was in need of cleaning wood on walls in booths were dirty, lights and cover were dusty. I don't think this restaurant has had a good cleaning in awhile. Order wine, very generous. We ordered mozzarella bites as an appetizer. First came luke warm to cold. Replacement order was over cooked and cheese everywhere. They were not fried. Tried Bradford Tavern after many years. Looked like there was a private party going on upstairs. We were seated right away after being asked if we wanted to sit in the bar area or dining room. We chose the dining room. There seemed to be some confusion as to who was going to seat us. Service was a little spotty-just seemed inconsistent as to who was supposed to be handling our table-we had 3 different servers coming over to us at different points. Food was good-started with the Buffalo cauliflower, very good. I had the baked haddock over mashed potatoes with the Ritz cracker topping. Very plentiful serving. Tasted great, although the topping seemed to be a bit too salty. My son had the fried chicken sandwich. He said it was really good and I kept sneaking his fries because they were very yummy. They had that extra crunch-is that from double coating?? I don't know what they do, but it was yummy! My husband had the poke bowl and he said it was as very good as well. I ordered the seafood casserole and the menu stated it included scallops, haddock and shrimp. However, my serving included no scallops and only shrimp, and other only one shrimp, it included only haddock. Extremely disappointed and overpriced for a haddock casserole. The chicken nachos were delicious and full of everything delicious the shot ribs with gravy and French fries were different very tasty comfort food and the pretzel sticks were very good the comfort food was excellent. I haven't been here since they reopened. Nice atmosphere as always. Was seated quickly in the bar as we asked. Server came quickly and took our drink and food order. Drinks came out in a few minutes. Food not so much. When delivered, my wife's salad still wasn't tabled until 20 minutes after the dinners arrived. Ordered the Nashville hot sandwich. Not hot oil and cayenne dipped. In fact no sauce other than mayo. But had jalapeños (which are not a Bashvulille chicken item). Disappointed. Server was nice, food not great. Beers and drinks overpriced. We recently got married at Bradford Tavern, where the third floor event space was the perfect setting for our intimate event. The room came together with floral arrangements and just a few decorations in addition to the supplied table settings and sparkle lights. There were plenty of menu options and we chose to have guests arrive to beautifully presented charcuterie and sushi. After the ceremony, dinner and dessert were served buffet-style. Everything was fresh and our guests are still raving about the food. Event coordinator Mary was nothing short of extraordinary in her guidance and care with our arrangements and the entire staff was incredible throughout the event and couldn't have been kinder. We emphatically recommend Bradford Tavern and fully intend on returning for our anniversary and other occasions. read more

People generally go out to eat to enjoy a delicious meal in a nice setting. Hopefully with an attentive server and kitchen. If I can cook the meal you serve to me at home better and with less hassle, well, you begin to understand the minimum bar patrons have set for a restaurant. Sadly, Bradford Tavern does not clear that bar. We came in the other night on a weekday around 6 pm and there were few diners in the place. We chose to be seated in the dining room (vs the bar). The inside of the tavern is a modern restaurant space with touches of old-world charm (like the exposed ceiling beams). However, the overall decor and bright lighting suggest a renovation that was half-done in a weird quasi modern colonial style that just doesn't really work. It's a shame, really, because it could be a really cool space. Our server was friendly & attentive throughout the evening. Kudos to him, because he certainly tried his best. After a fairly long wait to get our drinks (10 minutes but the place was empty!), we put an order in for a burger and a chicken sandwich. My partner was specific about her order in terms of no cheese or sauce on the chicken sandwich. I had the burger as it came, asked for a medium temperature on it. A long time later, our plates arrived. And of course they got my partner's order wrong -- cheese all over the sandwich. It took a few minutes to get our server's attention again, and while he apologized, it doesn't really make up for the fact that now I have my food in front of me, and my partner has nothing. She encouraged me to eat, but it's always an awkward situation. Server comes right back to the table and says the kitchen apologizes and it'll be done in 5 minutes. How you can cook a chicken breast in 5 minutes is beyond me, but alright. Closer to 15 minutes later (I'm finishing up my meal, of course), her sandwich comes out as ordered. My burger was on the thin side and done medium-well. While it appeared well-prepared, there was truly nothing special about it. No special condiments, just meat, lettuce, tomato and red onion. The taste was okay, but I came away feeling like I make a better burger at home. Same for my partner's chicken sandwich. Again, no special seasoning or real taste to the chicken, I think McDonald's probably makes a better sandwich. The onion rings and fries accompanying our dishes were good. I don't get it. You have a wonderful location, a nice space (that has a lot of unmet potential), and then serve just very mediocre food and have a kitchen that apparently can't read a ticket correctly. You're blowing your reputation on this sort of hum-drum experience, and wonder why your dining room is so empty on a weeknight. The only reason I suspect people come here is because it's nearby to where they live and they can't be bothered to go elsewhere. Two drinks, two sandwiches, and the bill came out to around $60. Yeah, no, we won't be back and don't recommend this place. There are other places you can go nearby with a better overall experience. read more

We went there to try something different from out usual. It was a Tuesday night so it was mostly slow. The upstairs looks to be a function room for parties and gatherings. The restaurant is on the bottom floor and broken into two sides. The bar and the dining area. It has charming turn of the 20th century with a lot of old pictures on the walls to remind you of the charming past of the Rowley area. Our server was great. He was quick and attentive without being overbearing. When he found out we were celebrating my wife's birthday, he quickly pointed out that they offer a free desert, which we didn't know about and quickly took him up on the offer. My eldest daughter ordered the mushroom flatbread and said it was fantastic. She ate more than she usually does for a meal. She shared some with my younger daughter who ordered the wedge salad and both enjoyed both items. My wife ordered the seafood casserole. At first, I was disappointed at the size but when she revealed the amount of seafood, I changed my mind. She found it tasty and enjoyable. I went with the chicken pot pie. I thought it was going to be cubed chicken but it was shredded. The white sauce was very tasty and was filled with peas, carrots, onions and celery. The pastry puff was beautiful, light and airy. If I had any complaint, is that it may have been a little salty. But the size of the dish was huge. I ate maybe half of it and enjoyed the other half for two lunches the next couple of days. We ordered the chocolate lava cake. It was great with the hot chocolate and ice cream over the cake. It was a pleasant night and a place to try again in the future. read more

We live out-of-state and was unable to visit the Bradford Tavern before our event was scheduled to take place. Mary (event coordinator) was excellent during the entire process. Communication was superb from start to finish. She took pride in delivering excellent service for this event. Mary worked with us to add a few details such as letting me know when our bar tab had hit a certain amount and to inform me when the end of the event had arrived. The food was served buffet style, all of the food tasted amazing, and was hot right up to the end. Every guest enjoyed the food and went up multiple times. The setting was in the library which had a fireplace and a fire going. This was a wonderful touch. The two employees working this event, Preston and Ugo, were conscientious, polite, attentive to our needs and eager to please. We highly recommend the Bradford Tavern for events. read more

We used Bradford tavern to host my Dad's memorial service luncheon and I'm very grateful we found them. We wanted something private and classy and although it can be stressful picking a place sight unseen from another state, we ended up being pleasantly surprised at how wonderful everything turned out. We booked the library room which was much larger than the photos show on the website. This room could've easily fit 30-35 guests seated and was a very nice space. The staff and our waitress did a fantastic job. Mary was very attentive and responsive leading up to our event and the day of as our event host. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food and quality was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. read more

We have given this establishment one too many chances. I made reservations via Open Table for last Saturday evening. We simply requested a high top table back by the fireplace in the tavern and it was my date's birthday. The rather grumpy hostess finally acknowledged us after we stood at the hostess station for 10 minutes, obviously didn't read the comments on the reso and plopped us at a wobbly old high top next to a breezy cold window. The table we requested opened up 10 minutes later after we left the wobbly table and were seated at the empty bar. We ordered dinner... tiny portions, uncooked oily vegetables, Sheppards Pie was plopped in a tiny dish and served without any garnish and looked and tasted as if it had been frozen or refrigerated.... Menus were sticky and dirty and their paper sushi menus were tattered and worn... the bar lighting was like sitting under a spotlight so we felt as if it was last call at 7:30 in the evening. Ambiance was dismal and this is definitely our last visit to this place. Hate to slam a restaurant but these guys don't even give it any effort... horrible place. read more

My wife and I finally had a chance to have dinner at the Bradford Tavern after seeing reviews on various pages on social media. The restaurant offers what seems like three demographics of seating with a lively bar area, a more mellow dining area and an upstairs library slower paced area. We sat near the fireplace in the dining area. It was definitely a good choice with comfort food in large portions. What we really liked was that the meals were served hot! The salads were huge and hearty. The meatloaf was hearty. Chicken tenders and onion rings great. The only detractor was that the food wasn't extremely flavorful but everything else was terrific. read more

I couldn't be more pleased to have planned my daughter's bridal shower at Bradford Tavern. I live close by and have eaten here many times (the salmon is to die for!) We had the shower in the room on the 3rd floor, and it was PERFECT for 40 people. Mary, the Events Coordinator, could not have been more helpful. She was calm, professional, and considerate as she helped me plan and execute this very special event. The room was beautiful, and the food for the bridal brunch was beyond delicious (stuffed French toast, among many wonderful choices, was truly exceptional). Mary set up a lovely mimosa bar, and she was even our server during the shower! I cannot recommend this food/venue/staff more highly. My husband and I thought we'd try out Bradford Tavern for Valentine's Day. Our server was good. We waited quite a while for our food, but it was busy. I ordered one of the specials - the steak and shrimp with broccolini and au gratin potatoes. The shrimp and broccolini were good, but my steak was full of grizzle - not a good cut of meat at all. I probably should have sent it back, but didn't want to deal with the hassle. The potatoes tasted like frozen diced potatoes that were heated up with some cheese mixed in - not very good. My husband had the baked haddock. He said it was just OK. With one drink for each of us, our bill came to almost $100. When you spend that much eating out, the quality really should have been better. Maybe their burgers and sandwiches are better, I don't know. But I don't think we'll be returning. read more

Had a early dinner here tonight. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, sweet potato fries and side garden salad. While it all came looking presentable, the sandwich wasn't the least bit spicy or had any spice at all . It said it came with a siracha sauce on it but all I tasted was the cole slaw topping . The French fries were ok & the salad was fine as well . I wouldn't recommend this sandwich to anyone because most who would order Nashville hot expects spice & lots of flavor which it totally lacked ! read more

There are some new menu items, so we were excited to try them. What a disappointment. We started with the spicy feta dip. The dip tasted good, but was very oily (which would become a theme). The description said it would be served with cucumbers and pita. The pita bread was fried. It didn't get crispy; rather it absorbed the oil and was a greasy mess. Plain 'ol' pita bread would have done the trick. (If you want to make pita chips, you have to bake it.) I had the lobster and shrimp roll. It was priced at $28 and was the size of a $28 lobster roll. I expected it to be bigger given the addition of shrimp. There was approximately 3 oz. of meat which seemed to be a mix of lobster, shrimp, and imitation crab meat. It was room temperature and dressed with some sort of oil (not butter, not mayo). Finally, my husband had the salmon which seemed to have been cooked in oil. It was served on orzo salad that was dressed with lemon juice and oil. We considered dessert, but the banana bread is no longer on the menu, so we skipped it. The new menu items that we tried tonight were not what we've come to expect from the Bradford Tavern. Hoping for a better experience next time. read more

Glad to see this place opened again. Looks like a lot of other people did too as it was packed! Host at the front door was super nice and helpful. Menu was eclectic with lots of variety. Server was good although food came out a bit more slowly than I'd expect. The bar was loud so we sat elsewhere. The apps and short ribs were great portions and nicely done. The sushi was expensive for the size of the rolls we got. I guess when I pay almost 20 for a roll I'd like to see more than eight small pieces.
