The staff came around the sanitize the tables as customers left to have it clean and ready for the next customers. We played it safe for our son and got the vanilla bean cone. They have a vegan option too! It was very tasty but not overly sweet. He loved it and didn't want to share the ice cream cone. He also loved munching on the cone too. I have been to Charleston twice.... both times I have stopped at Off Track. This is some of the best ice cream I have ever had (and let's just say I've had a LOT of ice cream). The pretzel ice cream is AMAZING (I'm pretty sure they make it by literally soaking it in pretzels... I don't know what it is, but it's so good). What we did discover immediately was this place is a scene, an annoying one at that. For a Thursday night it was jammed with only the employees wearing masks. Stopped here on an afternoon while staying in West Ashley. I really appreciated all the non-dairy, vegan ice cream options. I opted for the $8.50 (before tax) "Flight" of four half scoops to try different flavors: Strawberry Pop Tart, Birthday Cake, Piña Colada, and Peppermint Chip. I loved the Strawberry Pop Tart--slightly tarte and reminded me of a cheesecake--and Birthday Cake--had a slight almond extract flavor. Peppermint Chip was ok, not very minty. Piña Colada tasted straight up like vodka; the pineapple and coconut flavors were too subtle for me to notice (also not a fan of alcohol, but others who are would like this). I've tried a lot of vegan ice cream (and I manage a Facebook group called Homemade Vegan Ice Cream), both store-bought and shop-made, and I must say the texture and consistency of Off Track's are the best! I really enjoyed how creamy and not icy my flavors were. That Strawberry Pop Tart is what my vegan ice cream dreams are made of! The two workers who helped me were friendly and thoughtful in how they paired the flavors in the to-go cups. The inside was also decorated nicely. I saw another review that said the ice cream is overpriced and I don't feel that way at all. I thought the quality was high and the half scoops were other places' full scoops. I felt so lucky to stumble upon Off Track! While I am not usually one to order a vegan ice cream option, I simply could not resist Off Track's Butter Pecan Praline-flavored ice cream. It is made with house-made pecan milk out of local pecans. Off Track adds that milk into the brown butter ice cream base as a substitute for the dairy milk you would find in most ice creams. They pair this with a house-made pecan praline candy that is broken up into pieces and folded into the ice cream as well! It was so yummy that I got it in a cone and my boyfriend ordered it in a milkshake. We hope to visit Charleston soon to get another scoop; until then, we'll be praying that they will find a way to ship their pints cross-country to Seattle ;) read more
