I bought a laptop last year and was convinced that I should get extended warranty on it and all I need just to call 800 number and will refund me the full cost it's very easy process. Last week the hard drive had issues and the laptop stopped working. I spent all day trying to reach someone and finally after I got someone on the phone they said they had to try to provide me technical support to try to fix it but no luck then I was I told that I need to ship it to HP for them to replace the hard drive very time consuming I asked for refund as I was told by Office Depot I was told that's not the way it works. I called Office Depot we're I got the laptop and was told they can't do anything for me I believe I was misled by Office Depot so I can buy the extended warranty. I finally give up and ordered Dell laptop much better service. Warranty was total waste of money and useless. read more

It's rare that the first thought I have after leaving a store is that I need to write a scathing review on Yelp, but here I am. Maybe it's because the store moved recently, but this store is really badly managed. They put out fake boxes for expensive items, which you take up to the register to exchange. Okay, fine, I understand that. But at least have the foresight to only put out fake boxes if you have actual product to back it up. After the cashier had to walk back with me to see what items were actually in stock, twice, I gave up and left. Adding insult to injury, in the sale bins at the front, there were a number of single items in a bin with a sale tag on the bin offering a 3-pack on sale. But no, they weren't actually selling three individual ones for the sale price. So why were they in the sale bin? Also, no rain checks for the advertised sale. The final straw was when the cashier took me back to the shelf to see what items on the shelf were actually in stock, the other cashier put my items that cashier number one had already rung up into the go-back bin. I took that as a hint and am taking my business elsewhere. read more

OH MY GOODNESS, I have never had such a horrible experience as I have had with Office Depot. I ordered a box of printer paper, ink cartridges and notebook paper. Office depot mistakenly deducted the money twice from my credit card account and as of today, having talked to several people (all who give me different information) I still have not had my credit card account reimbursed. One guy told me that the credit would be posted to my account by the end of business today, then I get a call from someone else who states that the funds will not be back in my account fo 7-10 business days. They were very quick to charge my credit card but are totally resistant for crediting it back to my account. i swear to the heavens above that I will never do business with Office depot again. I know that my one simple yelp review will not mean anything to corporate giants like O. D. but people wake up, this is not how you treat people. If I treated my clients like this, I would soon be out of business. O.D. could learn a lesson from Amazon, anytime I have a problem with an amazon order, they are quick to fix it and refunds never take 7-10 business days, especially when they are at fault. I can now say that I am truly beyond upset and disappointment with O.D. CORPORATE GREED AT ITS ULTIMATE - SHAME ON OFFICE DEPOT. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR HOW THEY DO BUSINESS. I haven't been here since the old Warehouse Records days although the building has had several lives since then. But for Office Depot, I can't understand how they do sales. It's back to school time and they put together some great specials. I was hoping for the merchandise gets trickled out to the sales floor to help spread things out. I wanted to get some color paper that was on sale. So I went to the store in San Francisco and they were all sold out. I asked if they can check and the clerk called the store in Colma. WOW! They have it. So I drove through San Francisco and headed out to the Colma store. It's quite a drive but I needed special paper for my class. I get there and look around . . . NOTHING! I asked the clerk and she said it was all sold out. Keep in mind that this is Monday, a day after the advertisement came out. I'm not getting down on the store itself, but how the sales are handled. If everything is all gone when the ad comes out, I mean that things are all sold out by Monday morning, either trickle out the merchandise or don't waste the time and just buy off-sale. I guess that's the marketing strategy and that's why OD is so successful: sell it out quickly and put out the non-sale stuff for us late comers to pay retail. I can only speak for the copy shop because they have saved my ass on several occasions in the last 6 months. -Fair prices? Check. -Copies of my resume? Done in a couple minutes. -Copies of business cards? Done in a couple minutes. -Copies of wedding programs and activity cards? Done in a couple minutes. -Copies for large 24x36 posters? Done in 2-3 hours. The staff are always nice, helpful, and very informative as they want to help you get your job done. Just tell them what you want to do and they'll do their best to make it happen. The last time I went the staff was assisting a man who had been there since the store opened and were patient and genial with him the whole time. This is the most unreliable courier I have encountered! It seems Office Depot use them occasionally however every single time I never receive my order. They claim the business is closed when they attempted delivery which is false because the front door is unlocked and someone is in. It just seems odd that EVERY time they try to deliver the business is closed! Because of this I will cancel my Office Depot account. WORST! I couldn't even finish shopping because the security devices in all laptops in the store chirp. It's so distracting. I ended up with a headache and no purchase because no matter where you are in the store, all you hear is constant high pitched chirping. You can't concentrate, comfortably browse or comparison shop. The couple next to me left without a laptop, deciding to purchase else where because they couldn't stay in the store long enough to browse the laptops without getting a headache. The poor store clerk goes home everyday with a headache. I can't imagine what autistic or seizure prone people must feel like coming into this store. Ordered two items online that where in stock by the status on the website. After that I waited for fulfillment for a month. During that period first time contacted support for updates they told me that this is a special order and we will update you as soon as we have information from the supplier. After planned order completion date I contacted support for the second time and they told me that my order is shipped and the status "Processing" is technical issues of the website. In the end I received email notifications that both of my orders got canceled since item has been discontinued. This is ridiculous! This store is deceiving customers promising to do that it can't actually do. Beware when ordering something online from them. read more

Beware of their survey While I received helpful assistance in the store, however, they tell you if you fill out a survey about their performance you will receive a $10 off coupon. I filled out the survey and then was asked about which card I used for my purchase.... Then within 1/2 hour I received a fraud alert from my credit union. Then with some research, I discovered that there was a service for Smart Shopper attached to the survey which signed you up for a program that lets you know which items are cheaper at different stores. They charged my account $1.97, not much too worry about, but I discovered that they'd be taking nearly $10 out every month unless I canceled. Of course I canceled. It is disgusting that this is attached to the Office Depot survey so that you can inadvertently sign up for a service you don't want. It is really a scam. Besides closing the account on their web page, I also had to go to my credit union to be issued a new card. Do not do their surveys. Office depot should be ashamed. read more

It is July 31, and apparently there are a lot of people here shopping for school supplies... Which should not be a surprise to Office Depot. They do not have enough staff, and the interminable wait in lines is matched only by the incompetence and confusion of the staff. They overcharged me for a set of pens that was rung up first; then overcharged me by $10 to order a thumb drive online, that they did not have in stock. (Although they had a package on the shelf for it...) It took 5 minutes for them to place the order, and then I got sent to the special desk in the copy department...where a series of two employees each separately did not know how to perform the transactions required. I noticed that they had overcharged me by by $10 and then... It took them 10 minutes to explain why it would take 25 minutes to cancel the original order for the thumb drive, and then re-order it, charging me the correct price. I asked them to commence the process, and they appeared to gaze at me in wonder, not sure what to do. They managed to return the original at the wrong price, but did not reorder the drive. At the correct price... I had to go back and attempt to perform the transaction again... Which they could not successfully do, and left into defeat to just order it from online at home. read more

Horrible place. I was here months before to do some photocopying. There was only 1 person at the counter. I paid with my debit card, and apparently I left my card. When I was driving away, I noticed that I don't have my card. I immediately called the store and the store clerk at copying dept. said she didn't notice any card. She said she looked around but didn't not see anything. When I got back to the store, she was adamant and said I did not leave my card there. I asked her, you do have CCTV, right. Immediately after hearing that, she opened the cashier and said, "oh it's here! WTH! Last Friday, Nov. 5, I dropped off my FedEx Return package. Today, November 9, I tried to track the FedEx package as I am expecting a refund. There was no tracking info which would make one assume it never left Office Depot! What ever you do NOT order online right now. They have lots of items backordered but do not make that clear with any note at ALL. I placed an order for one item. Got a confirmation of that. Then they put through three shipping confirmations and charged my card THREE times. Called and was told the item was back ordered. I said why are you triple charging me for an item you don't have and haven't shipped? They say they haven't charged me yet it clear shows three charges in a row. This company is a fraud and the people who answer the phone are not trained to be helpful. I will never order from them again online or in store. Paul Anderson, one of the managers at The San Rafael branch of Office Depot should in my opinion, be fired. The store lost my business because of him. I went in to exchange a Swingline Stapler which, had jammed and stopped working. I had the receipt taped to the packaging, but lost it somehow on my way to the store. Paul Anderson said I had not bought the stapler there. I assured him that i most definitely had. I won't go into all the details. Except for this one: Office Depot carries the Swingline brand in staplers and it would have been so easy for Paul Anderson to have picked up the phone, called the 800 number on the staplers packaging and made the exchange. Instead, Paul Anderson was argumentive and accused me of lying about having bought the stapler at Office Depot. He was rigid and unhelpful so i decided to buy my new printer elsewhere and could hardly wait to get out of the store. I own a small. business, and, bought a lot of supplies in the past from Office Depot. But that won't happen again. Every time I come here, there's no one to assist on the floor. Maybe they're short staffed every time I go? When paying at the register, it also takes a while. Today was exceptionally annoying when several people were waiting in line for one register, and next to us was the male Asian cashier who continued to socialize with the people in front of him as if we weren't waiting!
