This has to be one of the worst Office Depots I've ever been to. Customer service is beyond lacking and every employee there acts like you ruined their day by kindly asking for help. Sheesh. Made the mistake of coming here twice to see if the second visit could be rectified but it's the same experience with the same bored and bitter employees. I always come here to get prints done for my school projects (graphic design). They are fast and prompt and super nice! They have the exact paper that I want and a variety of them unlike Fedex. If you're tried of getting ugly prints at Fedex go to an office depot. They have a wide selection of paper. Never encountered a problem with them, well maybe once but it was no biggie lol. read more

on 10/31 I found out that my computer was "Hacked" I was able to login but that's how far I could go! (didn't dawn me the magnitude of problem). So, used my iPhone to check my mail, as I am reading my email I noticed an Email with my name was sent to me...? as I read it I realize it was a "Ransom Letter"! my heart sank and my hands started shaking. first thing I did is look for immediate help and that is when I found the Office Depot in Hayward, among other places. First thing in the morning I called and spoke to a person name "Zack J." I explain matter and he suggested I come to see him with my laptop. from that point on Zack not only have gone above and beyond the call of duty, he simply saved my sanity and help me regain normalcy, and all within the first couple of weeks. I had lots of questions for him, and not once did he mind it, he actually offered me a whole lot of information, guidance all while he is calm, smiling, polite and very well composed. I didn't realized at first that he was actually the General Manager/IT until I asked for his card. I watched him joggle, being interrupted etc...yet, not once did he loose his smile and focus. I truly hope that his Boss knows how lucky he is to have such a person work for their company. I reside in San Leandro, but just because of this Customer Service I received from Zack I will be back there to purchase all my office supplies. I placed a pickup order to the store and brought an old printer for trade-in. One cashier was playing slow-motion and asking questions to the other every once a while. There was one register and 5 other customers behind me. The other cashier who took my order tapped the register for a few seconds before the first one occupied the register again to serve a new customer behind me. My order didn't started processing until all customers behind me were gone. 30 minutes for a pickup order? I would rather choose another location next time. And that's not it. They double charged me for an over $100 overcharge after I checked my credit card statement. The office depot customer service asked me to call my credit card company. read more

I need large photographs printed in a rush. The Hayward store ran out of photo paper and one of the amazing staff members, Felice drove to their Oakland store and was able to have the photographs done within 24 hours. Everyone in my office is thrilled. The prices are right, to boot! read more

Update Review: First time I came here James the store manager was very knowledgable and helpful. ( 5 stars ) then came in today to buy a tablet. Called in first the girl who answered the phone spoke very unprofessional and knew absolutely nothing about tablets. Anyways I put the tablet on hold after speaking to the tech person. Then I came in to pick up the tablet. I had another question cashier did not know anything, she didn't even know how to scan the packaging. She kept scanning the wrong bar I had to tell her to scan where it says UPC in BIG letters and forgot to give me my cash back didn't even bother to tell me I had to remind her. (-2 stars). I ask the tech guy about keyboards that's compatible for the tablet he was clueless I had to do the research my self. After showing him what I'm looking for I ask where I could find it. All he did was pointed a finger towards the vicinity. (-1 star ). This guy had horrible customer service. With so many people needing jobs today I can't believe somebody hires these types of people. read more

Horrible service. Went in for printer cartridge and was sold a used one. Teller said he would refund me, and I got another one. Few days later I was never given a refund. Took the survey and blasted them and a General Manager contacted me about it and he was useless. Go elsewhere. This is a solid Office Depot in a convenient location. Every time I've been here the customer service has been great, and the store is clean and well organized. It took forever for Lorena to even look my way and get someone to help me and when she finally did she refused to let me print something from my amazon account even though I've printed things from my amazon account several times before. I hate to complain, and I don't do it often but when you have a customer standing and waiting for services, and no other customers are around,I would expect a greeting and asked to hold on a minute. This young man at the copy center completely ignored me, walked by me and went about doing what he had to do until I approached him and said can I get some help here or at least be greeted, I've been standing here for five minutes. His response- it hasn't been five minutes. That was my greeting! Office Depot, try to hire people that like people and are tolerant. I own a business and I know what it's like to be tolerant of a customer even when they're not being polite. Folks, if you don't like people don't take a job that deals with people every day! This Office Depot location is the closest office supply store to my home office where I run an independent publishing business. I often need paper, toner and other supplies at very short notice. In the past 2 years, I've spent hundreds of dollars there--getting most of my supplies and equipment from this very store. I now regret doing so. Today, only 30 minutes ago from starting this review (approx. 11:30am, July 6, 2011), I went to purchase printer toner for a print run and I had a coupon from filling out a survey (a positive one) from my last purchase. There were two tags on the shelf and along with my old toner cartridge and the coupon, I proceeded to make my purchase. The clerk went to look for the toner and she returned in less than 2 minutes to tell me she cannot find it and that is is probably still on the receiving pallet. She said it would take a long time to look for it. Not insisting she go look for an item that, I remind you, had two tags on the shelf when I walked in, I said I absolutely needed it. She repeated, "It will take a long time to find it," and then just stared at me as if I was going to be okay with that answer. I showed her my coupon and said I was a Worklife Rewards member and again said I needed the toner today. Her response was, "It will take a long time to look for it. I'm the only one here." She did not ask if I want her to find it. I said I had a coupon and will find another Office Depot store to use it and she quickly walked to a computer terminal to check if another store had it in stock. That took a minute, half the time she took to look for the toner originally. She said a store 10 miles away had 5 of that particular SKU in stock. It was clear she did not want to assist me with my purchase and I find it hard to believe she was the only person at the store. It is experiences like this that make a once-loyal customer lose faith in a company. I am considering going online or to their competitor and forgoing the coupon I have out of spite and disgust. I cannot empathize with that particular clerk and how difficult she must think her job is as the only person on staff in a store with less than 5 customers, one of who is clearly ready to make a large purchase. I hope someone at the store and at the Office Deport corporate office reads this review and considers it when looking at the performance metrics of this particular store. I will not return to this Office Depot store except for in an unforeseen dire circumstance, and even then, I guarantee I will not be happy about it. The Office Depot brand is forever soured in my mind and I will not shed a tear if and when that particular store, or even the Office Depot chain, is out of business. read more

Had to bring my two little kiddos in here and must say it was a great experience. First walked in and was greeted by the nice cashier who was super helpful, set me up with a copy card, gave me the info on copies and passport photos. I got my copies easy as pie, then stood in line for the copy/photo dept which moved relatively quickly. 3 people helping 3 customers and 3 people in line. When it was my turn I pulled out 2 sets of passport photos I'd just gotten at Walgreens and asked if they could do better. I'm applying for a visa and want to make sure my app doesn't get denied because of a crummy photo. The guy says their camera is good and if I don't like I don't have to buy it. Good deal so we take the pix, looks decent and then my chica had to go potty so he tells us where it is and that we have a couple minutes, so no stress about rushing. (bonus: the bathroom was clean, and big enough for me and the kids+ stroller) When we get back, he cuts the photos for me, we pay and leave that area. Head over to check into some pens, they dont have what I need (a specialty item) but, another person helps me out and does go to check on the brand and/or style I was looking for. All in all, a great experience. No stress what with the things I needed to get done and carting around 2 toddlers. read more

Ok where do I begin... I came in with my overgrown son and was greeted by the lovely Brittney H. She greeted me with a friendly smile and a morning greeting. She asked if I needed help with anything and I told her yes my son needs a job. She explained the process. I went to get my new Office Depot rewards card laminated then proceeded to the furniture dept and there I was greeted by this gentleman Robert. He helped me with my desk and also checked a few coupons for me. After picking out my desk he went to check stock and brought it out to me. After when I was ready to pay Zeferino helped me with my purchase and man he was very friendly and took care of me and I got brownie points because I pronounced his name correctly. I love this stores atmosphere and love how friendly everyone is. The location is right next door to Walgreens my other favorite store! Did I mention Robert even helped me put my desk in my car? I'm definitely coming back because its service like this that makes a person keep coming back. read more

just bad. lemme tell you a tale. i ordered 3 items online and was quite pleased to see that this place had a subscription based ordering progam for certain item-one, being the one i ordered. i place my order and get a confirm email, with a next day delivery. i was juiced. that juiced feeling was sapped rather quickly, as i sat home all that next day delivery date (and not doing other errands that day, and losing sleep) and no delivery happened. i call CS, and for well over 30 minutes, listened to the agent Lie to me about a call Office Depot never placed to me about this order. when a supe comes on (after 45 minutes) its worse. she took an additional 15 more minutes to Finally say 'we dropped the ball'...she offered to cut my order in half (which, for cases of Smartwater, was super smart) but of course the previous transaction was in the system (and once you mess up stuff, I'm not confident in your ability to clean it up, even with a discount) and this would involve More $ while i wait for the other order to cancel. Then my order was going to be pushed back to another date (that i have scheduled commitments) and i decided to pull the plug on the order all together. The End. its not hard to do order fulfillment, but Office Depot hasn't caught up with the competition. and Lying to a customer is an insult (and obviously the moment i went Off). no prob for the kid. i shall shop elsewhere. Last week, husband sent me to pick up a free USB drive off a coupon with purchase. That day's OD experience was exact opposite of my earlier review. As soon as I walked in and looking confused as to which copy papers is the best deal, an OD employee walked up to me, greeted me and asked if there is anything she can do for me. She was professional and answered my questions appropriately. As I finished my shopping for little items, I went back to the copy paper section and the same OD employee saw me assessing how heavy those boxes and asked if I need help then called someone to load 2 copy paper boxes into my cart. I went through the line and there was 1 person ahead of me. Then clerk said someone will open next register to help me. Yey, I felt special! Then after checking out, clerk asked if I need help to my car, and another OD employee loaded my car. A good customer experience for a change. When someone gives me good service I like to return the favor. I was having trouble getting to my account and called into the Support Center and spoke with Melissa Weatherspoon she was extremely helpful, very courteous, professional yet we giggled on the phone which always makes it nice. I had been locked out of my account and couldn't get back in myself, and she helped me get back into my account very quickly without having to go through doing a new password and username and all that goes with your account. So kudos gu Office Depot for hiring such a sweet woman. And to Melissa have a beautiful day and thank you for making me laugh. Thank you Office Depot. read more

The reason I give 5 stars is because 2 people who attended me here were awesome. My computer was giving out on me and I think the employe's name was Tam or Tan, told me office depot would diagnose it for free. My hard drive turned out to be defective. he was knowledgeable and shared with me on what i would need so that i can fix it myself and save some money. I went back in the next day to buy the a new hard drive and a 32gb flash drive, they didnt have the ones that i was looking to purchase on either items and the manager, a bigger sized white man maybe in his mid 20's got me 2 different brand products with a higher price tag than what i was going to purchase and rang them up at the price of the cheaper products that i was going to originally buy. BEWARE of purchasing any H.P. product. I bought a printer from here a year ago and conveniently as soon as my one year warranty is up. Coincidentally my printer stops scanning and printing. The installed troubleshooting says the system needs updating but when I try to update it says all systems are updated. The H.P. customer service says they have to charge me to help me over the phone or offer me a discount to purchase an upgrade. This is a straight scam and a total Rip OFF . The worst shipping experience I have ever had! I go into the store on Wednesday 10/8 to ship my packages like I have done with no problems in the past. Drop them off and as I was making space on the "waiting for UPS" counter top the woman doing some other work says to me "Just leave them behind the counter" I do as she says and am thinking hey what if UPS doesn't see my boxes and ask the lady if she can make sure my packages are picked up, she says yes. fast forward to Friday 10/10 I look to see if my shipment is signed for and they haven't even been processed! The Assistant manager I talked to Zeferino who was useless in trying to even explain to me what happened saying over and over again it wasn't there fault when it clearly was and all I was asking was why didn't you contact me all my information was on the box! INTEGRITY IN ADVERTISING: Today we visited several office furniture stores and ended up at the Office Depot store in Hayward looking for home office furniture. We looked at a number of models on display, checked for matching desk, hutch, cabinets etc., checked color, number of drawers, ease of use, features, and finally after a few hours decided on the ones we wanted. We then asked a store clerk to complete our sale. She checked the computer and said that some of the items were not in stock and would have to be special ordered. We accepted the delay and additional cost because we wanted those items. After another hour we were informed that the hutch was a discontinued item and was no longer available through any Office Depot store, even though they have it in their sales brochures and on display. We asked if we could buy the hutch on display and were told we could not. They said we would have to settle on a model or color different than what we liked, and our new choices would also have to be special ordered and back ordered. There was no manager on staff to assist the clerk that was helping us. The clerk was informative and apologetic but had no authority to satisfy their customer. Needless to say we came home without a purchase and will be very hesitant to shop at Office Depot again. read more
