So today, we were on our way to a different restaurant, but on a whim, we decided to try Tradewinds. Let's just say, it was a different vibe when we walked into the restaurant. Not bad, just different. It didn't like it was a happy place. We immediately were seated, looked over the menu and decided. My wife had a BLT, the bacon looked like it had been sitting out, not a fresh appearance at all. She said it had a lack luster flavor, I ordered the traditional breakfast with sausage links, scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast. Everything other than the hash browns were luke warm. Sausage appeared to have been sitting out as well, didn't seem freshly cooked. Something we usually do prior to trying different places, we look over their reviews, like I said we tried this place on a whim. We learned our lesson, with this one. First time here on a beautiful Sunday around lunchtime. The restaurant sits right on the marina, although from inside you really don't get much of a water view. The place itself was clean, had a cool vibe and a nice bar area. It wasn't overly busy, so we were seated right away. I ordered the Big Breakfast for $21. Unfortunately, it was pretty underwhelming. Most of the food came out lukewarm and didn't have much flavor. The ham was questionable and probably the biggest miss on the plate. The pancakes, however, were actually good. Service was decent. Our drinks were refilled frequently and the staff took care of us, although nobody was overly friendly. The restaurant was also surprisingly quiet for a Sunday around lunch, especially for a marina location that seems like it should be packed. Overall, I was disappointed with the value. For the price of the meal, I expected either better quality or larger portions -- preferably both. As a chef, that's probably what disappointed me most because there is so much opportunity with this location. We did see a few lunch specials coming out of the kitchen that looked much better than our breakfast, so maybe we simply ordered the wrong thing. I probably won't return based on this visit, but I also wouldn't say it was terrible. Our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing from start to finish. First, my friend ordered a latte, and one of the cups was served dirty with lipstick still on the rim. That alone was unacceptable. Then, two of our food orders were incorrect. One friend received the wrong dish, and despite bringing it to the staff's attention multiple times, they never brought the correct meal by the end of our visit. Another order was specifically requested without onions. When they "fixed" it, they simply removed the onions from the already prepared meal and brought back the same plate instead of making it fresh. The service made the situation even worse. Our server was not helpful and became very defensive. Instead of apologizing and trying to resolve the issues, he repeatedly came back to our table to explain that none of it was his fault. He even tried to blame us, saying we didn't order correctly. We pointed to the menu photos of the dish we wanted, but he insisted that the pictures didn't accurately represent what they actually serve. If that's the case, why display photos that don't match the food? To top it off, the flyers and advertisements outside the restaurant looked AI-generated and didn't reflect the actual experience or food. Out of all the restaurants I've visited, I've never had an experience this frustrating. Between the unsanitary drinkware, incorrect food, poor service, and lack of accountability, I can't recommend this restaurant. read more

This is such a cute brunch spot--the view is absolutely amazing, the customer service is great, and the food is truly to die for! They're open all day, so you can come in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, which makes it super convenient. As soon as you walk in, you'll notice a beautiful display of wine bottles, and you can clearly see the full bar ahead--definitely sets the tone that the drinks are going to be just as good as the food. Fabiola was our waitress, and she was incredibly sweet and attentive. She answered all of our questions (and we had a lot!), making the whole experience even better. We all started with coffee--because how could we not at breakfast? Unfortunately, their espresso machine wasn't working, so I went with a regular black coffee with creamer. It was actually pretty good! We didn't order any appetizers, but they have plenty of great options to choose from. For my meal, I ordered the ribeye sandwich, and wow--the meat was so tender and juicy, full of flavor, and the portion was perfect. I could honestly eat this every day. My sister had the chilaquiles, which were highly recommended by the staff, and they definitely lived up to the hype. The only thing is we wished they were a little more saucy, as they were slightly on the dry side. My sister-in-law ordered the big breakfast, which comes with two of everything--huge portions and definitely worth it. Now let's talk about the pancakes... they offer both regular pancakes and Mexican-style pancakes, which are thinner--but honestly, so much better. I cannot stress enough how amazing they were. I wanted to give this place a visit when I drove by it just recently. I spotted it for the first time after driving by on my way to the beach. The place is located on a shore with the ocean as the view outside. Weather is always breezy here. The service when entering was excellent. Humberto was our server and he kindly seated us. He asked us if we enjoyed the food etc. was pleasant and easy to talk to. We liked that. It's clean inside and roomy, many people were there on a Friday afternoon. They had a lot of good choices on the menu but all were approaching $20. Pricey for sure. The food ordered was an omelette with potatoes o Brien. The other was a breakfast burrito with fruit. Both about $20 each more or less by a dollar off. The drink ordered was a coffee and water. The coffee was $4 and bitter. It was from a plastic container not fresh. I made a mistake I blame myself for ordering this without checking. It didn't exist in the menu as a hidden item. Overall $50 after tax and tip. It was overpriced but the experience of the ambiance, view of ocean and service compensate for this negative aspect. read more

My fiance had the seafood pasta which was ALL CREAM, could have been more seafood for the price...but it was so heavy like 3/4 cream and even the bread was doused in butter. The side soup was a beef broth which was also super salty. We did get the wings for the appetizer which came out piping hot and were fantastic, but the size were incredibly small for wings. First visit to Tradewinds Cafe & Bar on Saturday, May 2. Visited with my brother-in-law and sister who came from San Diego, and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and cozy vibe of the restaurant. We ordered coffee, fresh orange juice, crepes, an omelet with hash browns, chilaquiles, and a classic breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. The portions were generous, and the service was friendly throughout the visit. Everything was good overall, and the restaurant had a comfortable local brunch spot feel. That said, personally, it's hard for me to rate the food above 4 stars. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing really stood out or left a strong impression either. Excellent dinner! And shout out to Paco for his amazing service! Very friendly and attentive... Such an awesome location overlooking the tradewinds marina and we were able to chill and watch the Dodger game... Great little spot! Enjoyed a great lunch today! My wife sears this is the best tuna melt in Ventura County! I went with the Tradewinds salad. Fresh lettuce and ahi tuna, made for the perfect meal. I read several reviews that recommended ordering from the Traditional Mexican Food section of the menu, so that's exactly what I did. Great advice because the Green Chicken Enchiladas I had were outstanding. Covered in a delicious green sauce (surprise!), those enchiladas are filled, actually over-filled, with a moist and deeply flavorful chicken. I say over-filled because they were so meaty I only finished one. I suppose I could've eaten the other one, but then I'd be over-filled. Lol. As you might expect, the Green Chicken Enchiladas come with rice and beans, both of which were above average. I wish tortilla chips were served with the dish, but other than the two chips used as a garnish for the beans and rice, they weren't. There are so many tempting items on the menu I can't wait to return. I'd really like to find out what those Rib-eye Tacos are all about. As I was leaving one of the owners asked me how everything was. I told her how much I loved those Green Enchiladas. She nodded and told me she loved them too. She said she had had them for her dinner earlier that night. I nodded in appreciation and thanked her for the hospitality. I like that they serve espresso drinks here. I tried a latte. It was excellent. The availability of excellent espresso here makes me think my next visit to Tradewinds Cafe & Bar will be for breakfast. We visited this little off the beaten path restaurant on a Saturday morning. Seated next to the window for a picturesque view of the harbor and a wide variety of boats. We opted for the Eggs Benedict and a mimosa, both quite good. Afterwords we took a nice long walk to enjoy the views. Wait staff friendly and efficient. Excellent anniversary dinner highlighted by Nate's exceptional service! My wife and I visited Tradewinds for the first time on Wednesday evening to celebrate our first anniversary as a married couple. Nate greeted us at the door, and sat us quickly at our table. We made it just in time for happy hour and started off with their Chips and Guacamole, which was a solid portion and good start to our dinner. We opted for a bottle of La Marca Sparkling to enjoy with dinner, which was refreshing and presented nicely. We shared the chicken piccata and shrimp scampi for dinner, with both dishes featuring a linguine lightly mixed in with capers and a white wine sauce. A lighter flavor forsure, but I enjoyed it. The chicken and shrimp portions were both generous. Each entree came with choice of a soup or salad, we chose the clam chowder and their house salad with ranch. Both were good to start our meal. The finishing touch for our dinner was a surprise dessert brought to us by Nate, churros with ice cream. The churros were warm and soft, with a nice drizzle of caramel and tres Leches on top. The ice cream was very sweet, but it was an excellent compliment to the churros! Thank you Nate and Tradewinds Cafe & Bar for an excellent anniversary dinner! I had a Toastmasters holiday lunch here recently and enjoyed the experience, food, and service. The brunch burger is large and tasty, but not as good as their ribeye sandwich. Their onion rings are on point. They're service friendly with our party of 11, but they were not able to do separate checks for all of us. I normally don't leave reviews but our experience this morning was terrible. We arrived around 8:30AM when very few tables were being used. We asked for a highchair and staff seemed inconvenienced by it. My husband stood holding our daughter for several minutes while staff seemed not to know what to do. We then had to wait AND WAIT for our waitress. While the tables all around us were sat, ordered drinks, recieved drinks and even in some cases food, our waitress hadn't even come to take our drink order. She finally came over and after realizing we did not speak Spanish, she had a noticeable attitude. I mistakenly thought my daughter's meal also came with fruit and asked. Our waitress only said "no" with out any eye contact or offer to add it as a side (which would increase our overall ticket). Ok, we finish ordering and WAIT. AND WAIT. Entire tables have been served and finishing yet we still were not served. Food finally came. It was good but nothing incredible or worth such a long uncomfortable wait. And then we wait again even longer for our check. We keep looking for our waitress and she seems everywhere but at our table. When she does bring the check (again with no warmth or personality) she disappears again. My husband has his credit card out and in his hand and she even passes by several times but it's clear now she is actively avoiding our eyes. We finally get tired of waiting. I originally wanted to box up my leftovers but at this point, we just want to go. We stand and prepare to leave and my husband makes his way up to the hostess to just pay her/anyone else. Our waitress magically appears and that's the only time she smiles - when my husband passes her his credit card that we had to cross the restaurant to hand deliver. No apology or explanation for making us wait. Nothing. ​​​My husband is paying while standing in the middle of the restaurant and we are already at the door. Entire tables were sat, served, cleared and flipped while we sat waiting. We were only 3 adults and one toddler. There was no reason for such incredibly slow and rude service. And way too many great breakfasts to deal with another time. read more

Where do I begin. We visited on a Saturday at 5:30. Our reason for going was for me to try the Saturday special Chimichurri ribeye . Our waiter Isaac was pleasant enough, however, didn't know much about the menu when we asked for recommendations. I started with the chicken poblano soup and my honey had the clam chowder. My chicken poblano soup was quite tasty which is why I gave this two stars instead of one. The clam chowder was not bad, but the serving was so small. We had the same size bowl however his bowl had about a third less amount of soup than mine. They were preparing for a large gathering so they began to rearrange the tables to accommodate the large party coming in. I believe it was a group of over 30 people coming and was being set up right next to us. For the next 15 minutes they proceeded to drag 30+ chairs across the floor to prepare for this group arriving. It was so loud and annoying. I could not believe they did not pick up the chairs to arrange them, knowing that we were sitting right next to them and it was extremely loud. My date and I could barely hear each other talk. I told him maybe they don't realize how loud it is, but while the workers were trying to communicate with each other about the set up, they also could not hear each other over the noise of the dragging tables and chairs. My date ordered the pork chops and I ordered the Chimichurri ribeye. I ordered garlic mashed potatoes with the gravy on the side and the garlic mushrooms for my sides. The plate was extremely messy and the mashed potatoes had the gravy on top. My date ordered the pork chop meal with a baked potato and garlic mushrooms as well. I really wish we had taken a photo of his plate, but we left our phones in the car. The pork chops looked like beef jerky, so thin dried out. He immediately said I don't think we'll be coming back here for pork chops, but let's give them a try maybe they're better tasting than they are looking. Negative. I have never seen thinner pork chops in my life. So unappealing looking overcooked dried out. They were horrible . They did not offer butter, sour cream, or chives for the potato. I'm not sure if my ribeye was a ribeye. It was extremely tough , under seasoned and looked nothing like the advertised picture. The chimichurri sauce was all but missing. While paying the bill I was waiting for him to ask us how everything was so that I could give him an honest answer. He never once asked, so I brought it up by asking if there was new ownership because we had seen the yellow notice in the window. He explained that one of the partners had left awhile back but they are just now getting around to Transferring the paperwork. He still didn't ask how our meal was so I just told him "you know, everything was pretty bad" He stated that he wished we had said something, but we never had the chance because we weren't revisited during our meal. I have been here once for happy hour, once for breakfast, and now twice for dinner. Nothing has ever been spectacular, but it wasn't horrible either. But this time sealed the deal that we most likely won't return. read more

Yay, so happy for them. Great to see they're doing great! My friends liked their fish taco and chimichanga plates. I didn't like the burger. The fries were limp, not crispy. I am more a fan of their breakfast. I've tried the nachos and tacos for Happy Hour and not a fan. I saw others ordering the nachos on HH, so I know people love them. Beautiful restaurant. I don't think they're price gouging as I saw others comment. I really think they try their hardest to have a little of everything for everyone. The location is prime. The entire staff is super friendly and attentive, but Humberto really stood out. He's one of those people who just brings positive energy and treats everyone like a friend. For food, there were so many tempting options, but we decided on the Crab Benedict and Chilaquiles Rojos with asada. The Benedict was packed with crab, and the poached eggs were cooked just right. I would've loved a little more seasoning on the crab, but it was still delicious. The Chilaquiles had more of a modern twist, and although different from the traditional version, they were still really good. I can't wait to go back and try more from the breakfast, lunch, AND dinner menus! Went here for breakfast- single seater and ordered a basic breakfast with eggs, potatoes, and sausage. Underwhelming by far. I wish restaurants would not use liquid eggs for scrambled. Amazing rebound! We gave this place a second chance and had a really good experience. We had breakfast, waffle, delicious; eggs, a proper over medium; bacon, perfect; and hash browns, crispy, light, and not greasy at all. My husband had huevos rancheros chile verdes; he was extremely happy with it. We were stunned at how fast the food came, faster than fast food. I don't know how they did it. Fresh and hot. The service was excellent, almost overly attentive. The room is bright and airy, very high ceilings and a water view on one side . The chairs are so comfortable, like high end dining comfortable. It can get loud if there are a lot of people there. (See my previous review) Happy we gave this a second chance. It is close to home with tons of free parking. Potatoes I think were a week old and freezing again bad taste.. cold toast couldn't actually be called toast. you'd have to put it in a toaster to get toast. It was just like a piece of bread. I've been twice and both times enjoyed the food and the service very much. Also a very nice room. But the second visit--at 10AM-- the music was very loud, so loud we couldn't hear each other. We asked twice for the volume to be lowered and it was lowered-- a little, and then climbed back up again. I could understand this more at happy hour time but at 10 AM it was weird and inhospitable.
