This place makes good sandwiches. But they don't always have all the ingredients.. And so far, I haven't been able to get the wheat bread. The first time they waited til I got there to let me know they didn't have the cheese I wanted. But the last two times they actually called me to let me know they didn't have wheat bread which was very nice of them. I really wish they had sprouts as one of the ingredients. I was here about 3 months ago with a friend and we both had açaí bowls. It was really good so because I was in the area getting my son's hair cut I wanted to get an açaí bowl. The staff greeted us as we walked into the shop. The shop was neat and clean. I ordered an açaí bowl with strawberries and blueberries. I took it to go and ate it in the car. This açaí bowl was not like the one I had before. It was not real açaí, it tasted like açaí flavored shaved ice. Needless to say, 5 mins into eating it, it turned into açaí soup. Visited this business about a year ago...loved the sandwiches and the customer service was great! Today, I went back and ordered 3 full subs for the family. We also ordered an acai bowl. Acai bowl and 2 of the subs were great, but the Philly cheese steak sub we got needed some help. First, they packaged my HOT sub with the 2 COLD subs, so when I got home, my hot sub was lukewarm... I had to put it in the microwave to warm it up. Second, I asked for lettuce and mayo, and I got neither in my sandwich. The other 2 subs were great, and my family loved them...thats why they still get 4 stars. But if im gonna pay almost $100 for 3 subs and an acai bowl, I'd like to get my sub the way I ordered it. This has been our go to spot to get sub sandwiches in Aiea. Today we were there a little bit before 11AM, so we waited till it opened. Once we got in, a lady that looked like the owner or manager, took my order. I was charged a 3.7% fee for using my credit card. My total for a whole sub came out to over $22! Next time I need to remember to bring cash. Once we got home, I opened up the sandwich to add in the papaya seed dressing and noticed the lettuce was all wilted and brown. Located across from the vet in the first part of the plaza on the right, they really are not hard to find, even without their sign up yet. Cute little shop which is exceedingly clean. Apparently there is a pastrami shortage (who knew) so they were out of it at the time of our visit, but they'll gladly sub (ha! See what I did there?) another choice, including double meats. Other shops charge way more, and Subway's footlong just isn't the quality or value it used to be, and Ohana subs nails that niche. Ohana Sub is tucked away on the west end of Pearl Kai, with ample parking and easy access. The inside is small, but bright and clean, with a beautiful hand-written menu and number of tables if you feel like eating in. I've visited 3 times now, and the service has always been friendly and fast. Ordering is easy, choose a sub from the list, a cheese, your veggies, and sauce. The cashier always reads the options while ordering so there's no confusion. I've always chosen all the veggies and their papaya dressing. On my first visit, I ordered the half ($10) Wiki Wiki (Roast Beef, Pastrami, Salami) with jalapeno cheese. It wasn't my favorite combination of meats, and I didn't care for the cheese, but just from the freshness of the bread and the fixings, I knew they were on to something. The Roast Beef and Pastrami were solid but competing for main flavor. The salami might be my least favorite, to me it tasted more cooked, like cotto salami. My second visit I ordered a whole ($20) Italiano (Pepperoni, Salami, Pastrami), but when I got home I found that they had given me a Tradewinds (Turkey, Pastrami, Ham). A bit disappointing but not a big deal since I was still trying things. Again, not my favorite combination of meats, but the turkey and ham were both quite tasty and fresh sliced. The Pastrami was still my favorite. Third visit we got a half Italiano and a half Turkey Plus ($11) (Turkey, bacon, avocado), on which they let us substitute extra turkey for bacon at no extra cost. Zesty, spicy cured meats with sweet papaya dressing, coexisting with fresh crunchy veggies on soft, plush bread. This is my sandwich nirvana. The only pause I have is their website. When I first clicked on it, I wasn't sure if I was leaving without a virus. I ordered a Turkey Club which includes bacon . I kindly ask the girl who took my order I did NOT want bacon but perhaps just add extra tomato instead. She agreed that it was okay. LOVE this place! it's just as good as stortos, maybe even better we came around 11/12 and it was busy ofc for lunch rush but we didn't have to wait long, ordered at the counter and got our subs shortly after. We dined in too so they brought our sandwiches right to us. The dining area is a decent size, counter tops and tables. These sandwiches were huuuuuge, ordered two whole subs so we could share the other half of two different subs, but honestly I think we could've got a half size and asked them to cut it in half and that's good enough for yourself. If you order a whole they ask if you want it cut in half or in quarters. If you hungry hungry a whole size is for you lol! But no regrets, ate half and saved that other half for lunch the next day and it was still super good. I love that you can add a side order of a whole pickle (for extra fees ofc), subs & pickles is chefs kiss! They have other things on the side that you can order as well; however short story we added avocado on the side so we were expecting it to come separately; however we didn't see it when we got the subs so we asked the workers about it and one of the workers went to the back and must've cut up slices of avocado, brought it to us in a small bowl and apologized because she had added avocado in the sandwich. We felt super bad because we didn't notice it was already in the sandwich but they were so kind and just let us have the extra avocado on the side on top of already adding it in the sandwich. So 100% the workers are super friendly, hardworking, attentive, and aware, every time we stood up they immediately asked if we needed anything, for example: we needed napkins and they got it for us immediately, I needed to use the bathroom and didn't know I needed a key and one of the workers ran out to give it to me lol, it definitely reminds me of those mom & pop shops vibes. 10/10 would recommend & come again ! Sandwiches are really good here! Saves me a drive to Storto's in Haleiwa! However, they need to work on their customer service here at Ohana Sub. When I walked in, I noticed that the place was unusually packed...like all their tables were taken, so I was a little shocked by that. We almost didn't notice this new business in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center, but my friend recognized the name of the shop from its Wahiawa location. I'd never been, and as I peered through the window, the staff within motioned us inside. The menu is huge with some interesting combinations. A "half" is still a large, wide 8" sub, the "full" a massive 16" monster that makes other sub chain's "giant" size look puny. My cold sub (Koko Head) was fantastic, my friend's meatball sub (Sicily) was gloriously messy and tasty --more sweet than spicy. For the first time my weightlifting friend could not finish his meal. I heard about this new sub shop at the Pearl Kai shopping center. I had some business nearby so I thought I'd give it a try. It's tucked away in the farthest corner of the complex, so if you're not looking for it, you'll go right past it. What makes matters worse is that they don't even have a sign on top; just a little placard in the window. You need to search for them, but it's worth it! When you find them, you'll step into a newly renovated and spotless-clean sandwich shop with a huge chalkboard menu written in artistic fashion on the wall behind the counter. I wanted pastrami, but not in the form of a Reuben, so I ordered the "Tradewind". It's got ham, turkey and pastrami. There's a choice of veggies and since I'm not a very picky eater, I got all. Papaya seed and mayo with Swiss cheese topped my order. Whenever I go to Subway, I get a footlong. Half for lunch and the other half for dinner, so I opted for the whole instead of the half. The ladies are busy making my sandwich behind the counter and I browse around while waiting. When they were done, they wrapped up the sandwich in the pink butcher's paper and.... It was warm with lots of pastrami, saurkraut, dressing and Swiss cheese on light rye. It was large enough for me to eat half at lunch and a 1/4 for snack the next day. (Hubby ate the rest.) Hubby got the 1/2 loaf Bolo (all the meats) with everything on it. Our son got the 1/2 loaf zipline. (I think the loaves are 18". So, half is plenty. ) We enjoyed the sandwiches. It was a nice change from the usual, ---way.
