Felt like sushi tonight and thought we'd try a new place but it turns out they renamed Avocado California Roll & Sushi, still named on one menu. Maybe different owners? Not sure. Definitely a GREAT deal for your dollar but the ambiance lacks and feels 'meh'. We chose the 2 for $30 special which includes 2 appetizers, 2 rolls, and miso soup (up to $14 for EACH roll). You just can't beat that! We also took advantage of the FREE sake special with a $12.99 purchase...chaching! We ordered fried gyoza, edamame, Rose Garden Roll #29 (YUMMY!) and a Cucumber-wrapped roll (FRESH) and selected Raspberry sake, which tasted like Robitussin to me (but I'm not much into alcohol) my daughter thought it tasted fine. I ordered a dragon roll as well, which is one of my favorite things to order at any sushi restaurant. It was average. The items served had a Great presentation put the tables are really sticky feeling. This is a very nice sushi restaurant next to Razoos in Cedar Hill. The service is always great. I've never had a bad server at Moon Sushi. My family ordered several appetizers and entrees because it's Labor Day and we ordered a meal to dine in and a second meal to go for dinner later. Appetizers: shrimp tempura is very good. We enjoyed the fried calamari and the steamed gyoza was yummy. Do not order the Thai Spring Roll. Worse ever. It was 90% celery wrapped in rice paper. All three of us agreed. The Spring Rolls are awful. Dinner: You cannot go wrong with the sushi at Moon Sushi. I love that they have pictures of all of their sushi offerings in addition to comprehensive descriptions of each roll's ingredients. No brainer and delicious. My favorite is the double shrimp roll, but they have it all. Fried rice: This is not a Chinese restaurant. I ordered the combination House fried rice. Worse fried rice that I've ever had. I'm African American and a friend in college taught me to make Chinese fried rice. Mine is better than the offerings of fried rice at Moon Sushi. Bulgogi with rice was delicious. My son loved the Chicken Teriyaki. Our experience was very good. I would strongly recommend Moon Sushi and Ramen. B&N Sushi in Cedar Hill has closed. Give this restaurant your business. Absolutely the worst restaurant and service ever! You walk in and they do not greet you, they say you and the wait for someone to just come by and get us menus or ask for our drink is unacceptable!, none came to ask us. The food was average mediocre and that's about it. The worst part is the freaking service, there's no service!. The whole ambiance was different than any other sushi or ramen places Ive been to. The service was super slow because the person must have been new. We saw many people come and go and We sat there over 2 hours when it should have been maybe about 1 to 1.5 hrs. We are a fam of 4, with a teen and a toddler. The spicy ramen needed improvement the flavor just wasn't delicious, the spicy Cali roll was good. My toddler hated the rice balls and he ended eating my ramen noodles. Best sushi for the best price! Came with my family on a Saturday afternoon and was immediately showed a booth to seat. Miso soup is free for dine in customers. My husband and I ordered the lunch special roll bento! Which is the price of any roll and included edamame, salad and gyoza . I tailored my roll to what I wanted with no problems! Do not order from here. Had my SO waiting outside for a bowl of ramen for a whole hour (no exaggeration). When I called to see if maybe I can get a refund and just leave the food the woman on the phone said there was nothing she could do. That's fine I understand that. What made me upset is that people that sat down on a table at the same time I ordered they were able to take their order, got their order within 15 minutes, ate, got their receipt and left before I got my food. This has actually become our go to sushi place since it opened a couple of months ago. We usually get the dumplings as our appetizer, they're very good. Then we get a fried rice as it's a big serving and we order some sushi. I like how they always bring it out on the boat no matter what you get. I had high hopes for Moon Sushi and Ramen after hearing about their menu, but unfortunately, the service really ruined the experience.This took place last Friday , June 27, but it's been on my mind ever since because the service by our server was just terrible . The food itself was decent , the sushi was fresh and the ramen had good flavor , but the service was frustrating from start to finish. We were seated by a twin server (which we discovered after seeing the other one ) who couldn't have been less attentive. They barely checked in, took forever to bring our food, and didn't seem to care whether we needed anything. At one point we waited almost 20 minutes just to get someone's attention for extra napkins. It felt like they were more focused on chatting with each other than doing their jobs. Customer service makes or breaks a place for me, and sadly, Moon Sushi and Ramen just didn't deliver. I hope they work on their staff training, because the food deserves better support. read more

Whew! Unexpected jewel. We have been looking for a reasonably priced sushi place in the area and stumbled on Moon. Thank God we did because their sushi is AMAZING! I can even taste the quality in the cream cheese that they use in the rolls (Philadelphia vs generic). Everything was fresh and amazing. The service was good and no long waits.
