Not only is the West Side Market a true gem in Cleveland, but all of the vendors inside are gems too, including Ohio City Pasta. I've purchased pasta here several times. Once was when I was living in Chicago and I was only in town for a quick trip... but I legit brought a cooler to put the pasta in so I could take it back with me. I've also purchased it at farmers markets and in grocery stores in Columbus, where I live, particularly at Market District. I've tried several kinds and all of them are delicious. Their flat cut pasta options are my favorite and I love that they have a variety of flavors. While I've never tried their sauces, I have no doubt that they are great, and I should honestly pick some up on my next grocery run. read more

Unbelievable waste of time. Stood here for 10 minutes waiting at an unattended booth. Finally, woman comes up and goes "need something?" Uh yeah... 10 minutes ago. Not to mention the case was totally empty. I came down here to get some pesto sauce and short cuts of pasta, of which they had neither. I asked if she had any pesto, to which she responded "not after the weekend." What?? Apparently they only get it on Fridays. I really don't understand this business model. Amazing pasta! You can really tell when a business really cares about the product that they are making and Ohio city pasta really cares about making fresh, high quality pasta for you to cook and eat. Love there stand in the west side market with all their unique and colorful pastas on display and everyone is always very nice there. We were really happy to find the West Side Market had a fresh pasta counter. Fresh pasta is so much better than the typical dried pasta in a cardboard box! We bought pappardelle, fettuccine, mushroom and fontina ravioli, and vodka sauce. I made the ravioli with the vodka sauce and it was delicious. I made the pappardelle with a red sauce and it was amazing. I just love that thick ribboned pasta, and fresh is the only way to eat pappardelle IMO. The fettuccine was wonderful, too. My only complaint is that the ravioli come in sheets, so you have to tear them apart yourself. That was pretty hard to do without damaging the ravioli. read more

Oh boy, do I love Ohio City Pasta. Whether I buy it at the West Side Market or at a local grocery store, Ohio City Pasta is always a good choice to make dinner while supporting local. When I see that colorful flat cut pasta in the packaging, it's always a no-brainer. Ohio City Pasta makes fresh small batch noodles, ravioli and more. My favorite flat cut pastas are the Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Basil. You can even freeze them and come back to them later, which I really appreciate! They taste just as good out of the freezer at a later date. Their flat cut pasta is super satisfying with a nice flavor. You don't need a lot of sauce with their pasta, so if I do use it, I typically use their Pesto or Marinara sauce, and even then just need a little bit. I love supporting local and I'll always buy Ohio City Pasta when I can. I mean, really, you're going to have pasta in your pantry anyways, so you may as well pay a little extra and support your community! read more

I just tried Ohio City Pasta for the first time and I couldn't be happier. I really don't know what I've been doing with my life all this time. I was overwhelmed by all of the options they provided. I saw pastas I have scoured stores and markets for and came up empty handed every time. I also saw original items that made total sense. It became a question of what I was going to try first. The staff was patient with me and very kind. All of the pasta is fresh made; nothing is frozen, so I wanted to get something to cook that day. I ignored my urge to buy up the whole counter. I didn't want to defeat the purpose of buying fresh pasta by freezing a bunch of it. Through all the choices I decided on the squid ink angel hair. I got 3 bundles which only came to $7.50. They take credit/debit with no minimum so that part was super convenient. I made the pasta later that night. I loved how the bag it comes in has cooking times right on it making this foolproof. My family was skeptical, but the entire pot disappeared in a couple short hours. They just couldn't stop going back. I will definitely make Ohio City Pasta my new go to place. I love how they bunch some noodles together into an adult serving and sell them for $2! It's perfect for a date night or night in. Once you buy the pasta, the bag you are given has cooking times on them. The pasta I got only required 1 1/2 minutes. So quick. So easy! They also sell sauce to go along which your noodles, which is so smart. Their noodles are seriously so fresh and amazing. They put boxed grocery store noodles to shame. read more

Overall: Excellent home-made pasta worth the extra couple dollars. The only issue is they run out of popular items! Food: 5 stars. The sauces are excellent. The marinara is light and not overpowering so you can still taste the pasta. The arrabbiata is just the right amount of spicy. The pomodoro is the best and very flavorful. The pasta is fresh and there are lots of varieties. Be sure to freezes the pasta if you're not eating within a week. Service: 5 stars. They are fast but patient if you have questions. AMAZING pasta says the woman married into an Italian family who knows a thing or two about what "real" pasta is, makes it homemade herself & grew up in a nearby city where our Little Italy/Italian community makes its pasta & authentic Italian foods nothing to mess with. Not only is this pasta as fresh & handmade as one could wish for, but it's delicious & FULL of flavor! Oftentimes places with "flavored" pastas have flavors that barely come through, but this company serves pasta that has its flavors come through in every bite you take. On our recent trip to the West Side Market, we purchased gnocci, plain homemade angel hair, sundried tomato homemades & the flavor packed cheese & potato stuffed "pierogies". All of which were to die for & full of love & flavor in every bite!!! Shhh...dont tell anyone, but this company puts all my local pasta makers to shame. It's that good!! WOW! Great value. We got ravioli, a full pound of basil linguini, and their AMP sauce (amazing) for $20. My partner and I will get 3 dinners out of this. The pasta is delicious-good chew and fantastic basil flavor. The sauce is marinara, alfredo, and pesto mixed together and it has now ruined me for all other sauces. Best- Pasta- EVER!!! Buy like 6 lbs and throw it in the freezer... I froze some for over 6 months and pulled out a pound expecting it to be damaged and not good.... Ummm... NOPE!!! This place is amazing. My husband raved about this stuff like it was sent from the heavens and frequently bemoaned the lack of fresh pasta choices where we were living in The South. He finally convinced me to move to Cleveland and now we have steady access to brilliantly made pasta goodness. He says to go for the red pepper pasta. I'm half Italian so I grew up eating pasta which is why I think as an adult I don't eat a lot of it. That's until I found OCP that is. I don't know what addictive ingredient they put in their pasta but oh my gnocchi is it good! I've used it in tomato based dishes, Asian stir-fries and paprikash / stroganoff recipes. I've had various flavors of the ravioli and even gifted it to my Italian mother. This place can do no wrong in my eyes. I vote a big yes on the red pepper fettuccine but a big no on the goat cheese ravioli and the mushroom & cheese ravioli. Their ravioli is way too heavy & chewy. And the filling is not a light filling - in fact I think the goat cheese ravioli has some type of filler in it other than ricotta - it was quite thick and not very flavorful. read more
