Nothing great nothing horrible. I got the shrimp off of the low calorie menu and the shrimp itself was very juicy and fast but the sides were so lack luster. The brown rice was so grainy tasting and the broccoli was way too salty. Things can be low calorie and still taste decent guys! The butter on the dish was not it. The free bread was tasty and the butter was perfectly whipped. The scallop was pretty solid as well but still a bit salty. It says there's a dress code but we went during lunch and it wasn't anything too fancy. I also tried the lobster pasta which was pretty tasty but I wanted bigger chunks of lobster. I was so excited for the octopus but it was so tiny, less than 3 ounces. Not worth the price despite being tender and flavorful. The lobster deviled eggs were a little dry and needed more filling. Nice upscale seafood place! We went for lunch with a 1pm reservation on a Friday afternoon and it was not too busy. I got the lobster bisque and tried the Filet Oscar as well. The lobster bisque was hot and creamy with good bits of lobster in it, great with the free bread they give you. The filet Oscar was cooked nicely, although the crab they put on top was probably not needed. The mashed potatoes have ginger in them which I was not really a fan of so heads up. The food is good and it is an institution of its own, good place to bring out-of-towners as the ambiance makes it a pretty grand experience. This is definitely a place where you should go with the classics/dishes they do well.. stick to something they do well and something you know you like. Valet was $15 on a Friday night (non game night). If it were more than that, I probably would have ubered. You can pay upfront or upon pickup. I got the Filet Oscar which was good and cooked to my liking. The sides aren't anything special but good. I appreciate their selection of specifically west coast oysters. Service is ok, can be a little awkward. For example, our bread came out well after our appetizers (oysters and mussels). We had an amazing server which we complimented to management. We had oysters, and tuna tartar along with some ready good dirty martinis. We are pretty disappointed with the King Crab. We understand market price and this being an expensive dish. We split the entree but from the picture you can see it ended up being 2 total legs (split in half between two people). Beautiful restaurant. Dined here with my friend on a Tuesday evening and had wonderful service. The decor was so pretty for the holiday season - love the touch of blue glassware to complement the restaurant theme. I ordered the grouper and it was good! The lobster mashed potatoes were interesting - I think it was just weird for me to have lobster mixed with potatoes but they were still good. The grouper was cooked perfectly. My friend loved the deviled eggs and Mac and cheese was nice and creamy. Not pictured was the arugula salad we started with that was also solid. Was passing through Cleveland a couple of weeks ago and popped in to Blue Point Grille for an early dinner. And I'm really glad I did. The food, service and atmosphere were fantastic. This feels like quintessential Cleveland dining. Very decent food with little innovation in the kitchen, bar, or space. It's not bad food, but it's not terribly good either. Every dish is so traditionally executed that it really seems to be focusing on the crowd of the past. The caesar salad is an everyday caesar salad. The crab cake is a good crab cake, and the oysters are good - but nothing on the apps menu stands out as a winner. Then for entrees I had a special sockeye salmon that was supposed to be great, I asked for it rare - it came out dry. Now was it the best salmon I've had in Cleveland, yes it was, but it still wasn't cooked as I would have liked it. Nice clean interior look, lots of stairs to the bathroom in the basement which isn't ideal. Staff were attentive and efficient. Drinks were fresh. I ordered a non alcoholic and added alcohol. Lobster deviled eggs weren't anything to write home about but the crab cake was fantastic. The slaw and sauce that came with it were delish! I was in town for a weekend and decided to check out this place based on reviews. Dining solo so sat in the bar area which had a nice ambience and felt inviting. The TV situation in the bar area was pretty lacking with very old, small TV's, so if you're wanting to watch a game while you eat, I would not recommend. Bartenders seemed more interested in talking to friends and wait staff over the patrons. There is an automatic 20% tip on your bill, so it's clear they aren't motivated to make sure you're happy with the service. They did make a good martini though. Ordered the Mussels and Caesar to start. Mussels were bland with very little juice at the bottom of the bowl and dried out mussels in the shell. I had to ask for salt, as what little juice there was, it was very under seasoned (not sure how you have under salted juice with mussels?). Caesar salad was fine, nothing to rave about, but I'd eat it again. For my main course I ordered the Nags Head Grouper, as the bartender said it was their signature dish, and the brussel sprouts as a side. The grouper was cooked well but the dish as a whole was not good. The "lobster" mash potatoes were basically bland mash potatoes with what I assume leftover lobster bisque mixed in for color. Not good. The spinach was fine but nothing special. You're basically paying for a dish with underwhelming flavor and a fancy potato chip as a decoration. Don't get trapped into ordering this. The brussel sprouts were so bad that they weren't edible. A grease, mushy, poorly fried mess with underwhelming flavor. I had two bites (assumed I got a bad first bite) and couldn't stomach anymore. The Bartendar at least recognized that I barely touched it and offered to remove it from the bill. Overall, this seems like a bit of a business travel/tourist trap. Somewhere to take people for what seems like a nice, expensive dinner, but it delivers very, very subpar food. Giving two stars because they at least refunded the grease brussels without me asking. Save your money and find somewhere else to dine. read more

While staying in downtown Cleveland, we decided on this place for the weekly "date night". We sorta didn't make reservations in time and recommend if you because this place fills up quickly. Nevertheless the hostess was kind enough to seat us near the bar in a high top pretty quickly and we did enjoy a nice dinner. Evelyn was our server and she made us feel right at home. She was super nice and gave us the run down of the entire menu plus the specials for the night. This place specializes in oysters and has many varieties from time to time. Evelyn was very kind and wanted us to taste some of the ones they had in that night. I went with the Lobster Bolognese and my gf went with the Swordfish which was very much in the New Orleans style. Both were well served and very tasty. We will have to be back for their Oysters and champagne on a happy hour soon because they have great specials for those times and for lunch as well. Little did I know, one of my favorite restaurants in Ohio, is also their "sister" restaurant, Cabin Club. I was welcomed in by Adrian, the Asst GM. It was so fun ordering Blue Point Grille's largest seafood tower! Everyone in the dining section watched as we got our food and we were so excited! Our group of three only ate this and barely touched the bread it came with and could still barely finish the tower. The oysters here are one of the best and aren't fishy at all. The lobsters were huge (fyi doesn't come with warm butter but you can ask for it). Came here for Happy hour -- excellent deals and selection of items off the HH menu. We got lots of oysters, which were good but not the best or freshest I've had, but a great deal at HH. The mushroom gnocchi was ok, a bit dry but flavor was good. The steak tartare was excellent, as was the lobster risotto. The salmon cesear was a good portion size but wish the romaine had been cut up into smaller bitesize pieces. All in all, excellent deal for HH here (bar only), also seems like a nice upscale place to dine. Parking can be tricky in this area, hopefully there's some street parking available. Four of us dined last night for New Years Eve and had a terrific night out. Service was superb. Drinks were great. Bread served to the table was extremely tough to eat. This was not our first time at Blue Point Grille. But it was a first for their Feast of Seven Fishes. We had seen a segment on it, on New Day Cleveland. The Feast of Seven Fishes surpassed our expectations. It was seven courses (you could choose to do only 3), of absolutely delicious seafood! They served raw oysters, a lovely cold calamari, shrimp and citrus dish, crab fritters over hummus, an expertly roasted piece of octopus, beautiful scallops, and a branzino with crisp green beans. Came here to eat with my fathers family for the holidays. The restaurant had really beautiful Christmas decorations up and was elegant and easy to navigate. Our waitress was fantastic. She explained all the dishes thoroughly so we could make good decisions and she checked in frequently to make sure we were ok. The server refilling our water was also very prompt as well. I started with the grilled octopus which was well cooked and flavorful. Great grill flavor balanced with herbs and radish to add some freshness. Then I got the My Blue Point Heaven. The scallops were the stand out of the dish perfectly seared and incredibly flavorful. The shrimp and lobster were also very good and it all went great with the butter sauce. For my dessert I got creme brûlée. The creme brûlée was good although they did torch the sugar a little too long which gave it a bit of a bitter burnt taste that brought it down a bit. Overall it was a really great meal. My one real complaint would be that the portion sizes were a little small for the price but the flavors were all fantastic. It was my birthday and our last dinner with our son before heading off to the USCG. We walked into a women/Guest in a questionable conversation with I assume manager. Her attire was straight out of Pretty Women..but animal print... Oysters EXCELLENT! SERVICE ON POINT! Lobster Bisque LIKE NO OTHER! All our food agreeably was served BARELY WARM the lobster bordered on COLD. My son and husband wouldn't say anything but at $68 a plate and it was my birthday. They returned a fresh plate fresh food and the manager apoligized. The shrimp was horrible and over cooked to the point of burned. I ate a Scallop and spit it out. It tasted as it had been SOAKED in ammonia. I gave one to my husband and he immediately spit it into his napkin and said "What the hell" I ate what I could Lobster 2 shrimp the asparagus and left the rest. They did bring us free dessert which was delicious! We were there 24 years ago to the day..but will we come back as this was disappointing.
