A friend got me a gift certificate here, and I booked a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Nicole, who was very knowledgeable about anatomy and gave me the best massage I've ever had. In addition, she was nice and attentive. For example, she noticed that I was congested and brought me tissues and gave me peppermint (I think) to inhale. Five stars to her. Some places won't let you use a gift certificate toward tip, but Ohm does, which is really nice. I've deducted one star because I found the spa's management a little unprofessional. When I first came in, I filled out a form in the shop area, and I overheard an interview being conducted in the adjacent mani/pedi room. Second, even though my session ended at 7:00, which is an hour before Ohm closes, I was apparently the last customer there, and, when I got out of my massage, they'd removed all the food from the customer lounge except for a banana that had started to turn brown and an apple. When they take away the food from the lounge, it sends the message that they're shutting down, and that made it uncomfortable for me to hang out there, like I'd been looking forward to doing. read more

Ohm spa is run by a husband and wife team who are very dedicated to Ohm Spa. Their staff is welcoming and professional. I was able to get a last minute appointment for a facial, which was very relaxing. Their lounge is huge and they have a lot of amenities, including 3x of flavored waters, various teas, crackers, fruits and chocolates (I am not sure what other reviewers were expecting). They even stayed late to let me relax in the lounge after they have closed. It's this type of personal attention and customization that you can't get at the chain spas. I love that the owner and director is a physical therapist - I believe it makes a big difference. Even with the massage in-take form, you can tell that there has been effort put into the health benefits of massage (not just to "bliss out"). I wish that the prices were a little lower and they offered fewer services. When you try to be too many things to too many people, you lose focus. They can't seem to decide whether they are a "health spa" or a "beauty spa" (just like their snacks - one or two healthy, tasty options would be bettter than the hodge podge they have going on). I really enjoyed my massage - even with a very cramped little treatment room, she was thourough, attentive and well-trained. Cons: I could hear the client in the next room and there is no space (changing room, waiting room and treatment room are all super small). Fortunately I went on a slow Monday morning (got the extra 15 min add on) but even with just 3 other guests, it felt tiny in there. This was the best experience I have ever had. I went with my best friend and from the moment we walked in, we felt so welcomed! The lounge you wait in for the therapist to pick you up is beyond relaxing. They provide water, tea, and snacks(crackers, cookies, apples, grapes). They make sure you are 100% comfortable. Crystal and chaia were our therapists and they did an amazing job, making sure our massage was what we needed and wanted. Crystal checked in with me at the beginning of our session and made sure the amount of pressure she was providing was good and what I wanted. From head to toe I left feeling amazing and so relaxed. Finally visited this spa...I could live there. No really, I spent about 4 hours there and then begrudgingly dragged myself out so that I wouldn't miss my flight to my own wedding. My facial and massage were both excellent, and I have to say that the staff is superb. You need to take an elevator to get to the spa, and while it's not the biggest, it is spacious enough and very cozy/comforting. When you arrive, you change into a bathrobe and slippers, and put your stuff into a locker in a small locker room. Depending on how your appointments are set up, you may be waiting a little (or a lot) in one of the waiting rooms (complete with fruit infused water, candles, and cookies). I am a person who is running 100 miles a minute and this is literally the only place in that I have been able to relax in (short of just leaving the city altogether). The only reason I took off one star is that the nail services left something to be desired. The nail technicians were nice enough, and I liked that they had flat screens all around the room (on low volume) playing the latest movies. But, when I asked for shellac on my toes and for nail art, they said they do not do that. These are offered on the menu, however, and someone confirmed they were available over the phone. So, I was expecting to be able to get them done for my wedding. I must just have high standards for them after my experience in the spa portion! read more

Had my spa day here on 4/27/11 and a great time! My facial was soothing, refreshing and relaxing. I was so ready to go to sleep. I also had a mani/pedi. This was the first time that my hands were done first, which I liked. It gave my hands more time to dry. They have the massage chairs to sit in for the pedicures. My boyfriend got me this amazing spa package for Christmas. I called them to set up an appointment. They were so efficient and flexible. When I gave my gift number they knew exactly who purchased it. The appointment date and time I wanted was available. The location is amazing. I'm always at the 260 sample sale so it's literally right above it. Upon arrival the receptionist was super friendly. I loved that they had humidifiers in every room. I actually had a cold and nosebleed earlier that morning so that really help me. Inside the locker rooms was a locker with my name on it. I thought that was incredibly personal. They also provided robes for the lounge. The lounge had a variety of hot teas, fruits, snacks and fruit infused waters. I enjoyed the relaxing ambiance. I prefer the facial over the massages. The facial was amazing and I could see the glow after but the massage was only mediocre. The masseuse did get some of the knots out of my shoulders but overall I felt it wasn't as effective. If you're looking for a place to spurge, I would definitely go for facial. read more

I had a not so great experience the first time and left a review on here. The owner called me pretty much right away after leaving the review and was very apologetic. Turns out the masseuse I had wasn't even still working there (unrelated to my review). He generously offered for me and my boyfriend to come back for a service on the house. I really appreciate his concern, kind approach, and sincere desire to make it up. We went back and had an amazing time. Stopped in while in town and having some neck and back issues for massage. The spa itself is nice, serene, quiet with a large lounge area with plenty of water, tea, and even snacks. There are small changing areas and lockers which are not the greatest but are sufficient. The therapy rooms are very nice. The therapists I encountered were very good and professional. For the city, the prices are very reasonable as well. Also they have nice robes which cover people of all sizes, something I appreciate. I go to Ohm Spa regularly and really enjoy it. The best is the facial with Paula. She is amazing and my skin always looks great. I just also had her shape my eyebrows and they look wonderful. I also go for the mani/pedi although they just raised their rates so they are more expensive. Also, they have TVs in the nail salon which I do not like since they show movies and if you have not seen the movie it is a spoiler since you never get to see the full movie. I would much prefer to have the nail area be more peaceful without movies. The waiting area is small but is very calming and they have refreshing fruit water which is great. Overall a great spa! I've had massages and facials here and both were great. Paula, the head facialist, got my skin in great shape before my wedding. The massage therapists have always been kind and even showed me some yoga moves to help with my constant back pain. The space is small and there is no sauna or steam room, so if that's a concern for you, you might want to try one of the larger chain spas. However, you'll give up that personal touch. I've been coming to Ohm Spa for about 3 years now and I will not go anywhere else for my massages!!! My love for Ohm Spa was happen chance when a good friend bought me a gift certificate for a custom massage. I am always tense and knotted up so any masseuse always has his/her work cut out. Let me say, I was in that heavenly place hovering in and out of consciousness and by the time they were done with me I was sooooo relaxed and sad it was over. Since that first time I have been back every couple of months or so, and I have tried many of their masseuses (4 or 5 different ones to be exact). Each and everyone of them have been amazing!!! When booking your appointment, you can ask them who they recommend for the style of massage you want. There are certain times I need to be worked on firmly but other times when I just want to relax. The lovely staff at Ohm Spa will make sure they make a perfect match. Give Ohm Spa a visit and like me, you may rethink getting a massage anywhere else. A really cozy and nice spa to unwind at. Came here for the 90-60 massage and facial as a birthday treat . Filled some paperwork out in the lobby and then it was time to head to the locker room to change. Once changed, headed into the waiting area which has plush couches to lie around in, and a selection of different fruit infused waters, cookies, nuts, etc to munch on. I started off with the massage with Nikki and she's amazing. I told her my neck shoulders were especially tense and knotted from sitting in front of a computer all day everyday, and to use whatever pressure she needed. She eased me into the pressure and really loosened up the muscles. I was feeling so relaxed after the massage and days later as well. I recently received a hydrating facial at Ohm and I'll admit, I'm a facial virgin, but it was overall a very nice relaxing experience and my face is definitely hydrated so mission accomplished! The facialist (Laurie) was very calming, talked enough but not too much, and did what felt like very thorough extractions. She applied several different creams then cleansers then a mask and while the mask was drying gave me a nice upper back massage. She made a few recommendations for products and gave me several trials but never even suggested I buy right away which I thought was very nice (I hate pushy sales people!). She also didn't try to up-sell me during the facial which I consider a big plus. I'll be honest, it isn't a super fancy/glitzy spa like some places, but I honestly liked it better that way. The decor is very zen (dim lighting, candles, bamboo) and the lounge had comfy chairs and yummy snacks. The Bathroom/Locker room situation is a bit odd, there's a shared locker room (so only 1 person goes in at a time, meaning you may wait a few minutes) and the bathroom is the complete other side of the spa, but that's not a huge issue and besides that it's nice. read more

I have a 60 min massage and 60 min signature facial recently. I came in and had to fill out forms and then was guided to a small changing room. You get a robe and sandal. Unfortunately, I have big and wide feet so even when they got me the right size for the sandal it didn't feel so comfortable. But that's alright. After changing, I went to a relaxing room for drinks (infused water & tea) and some cookies. It was def a very nice treatment that you don't see at all spa places. The whole environment feels very cozy and homey. I enjoy the facial the most. I have Giselle as the therapist and she was just amazing. Very sincere, nice, and gentle. I like to know what is put on my face before it actually done so Giselle did a good job on that. Her voice is so smooth and soft spoken! I was SOOO relaxed after the facial. She always gave a really good neck massage since I have a lot of neck pain. After my facial, you get dressed. Giselle would have water ready for me right outside the door. That felt so nice to be treated like a queen! I highly recommend her. Had a quick break and then got ready for my massage. I got Tania as the therapist. She was nice. When we got to the room, I changed and got ready for her. She asked me where she should work on. Mainly neck and back. She is very attentively and good. I enjoy her deep tissue massage. However, usually I would prefer a guy massage therapist because I find the girls doesn't have the stronger hands to do the deep pressure on my body. But she was alright. I was so relaxed that I felt asleep. However, after I'm done she didn't get me water like Giselle. But I guess it was a timing thing. But overall it was a really nice massage. I would have gave it a 5 but I think there is a few areas for room improvement. The locker room would be nice if it's bigger and roomier. Massage therapist was good but prefer a male therapist instead. Wish the bathroom was more conveniently located since I had to go thru so many doors just to get to it. Great spa. I was brought to the Ohm Spa as a gift by a couple of friends. What a wonderful gift it turned out to be. The spa is very clean, comfortable and calming. The three of us requested three different types of massages (sports, deep tissue and shiatsu) and obviously had three different therapists. We all raved about our massages, we raved about our massage therapists and we raved about the staff. The therapists are very professional, considerate and helpful. They took the time to understand our needs and then did their best to meet those needs. They truly went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and to ensure that our experience was great - which it was. The ultimate reason for the one star had nothing to do with the quality of the service I received and entirely to do the rudeness and condescension of the "front desk girls." I went to Ohm Spa and I got a full body one hour deep tissue massage. The massage itself was good. Quite typically, whenever I get massages the masseuse won't press hard enough. But this masseuse was good, and was responsive whenever I asked for something. If this review were on the massage alone, it would be 4 stars. When I was finished with my massage, I quickly got dressed (there are no showers at the spa) and made my way to the front desk to pay for my treatment. There were two dyed-blonde women there, idly gossiping in a snide and drawling way (typical East Coast socialites who work low paying jobs at spas and galleries while waiting to find a rich husband). They continued to gossip as I stood there for a few moments, and then finally acknowledged me and asked me how I would be paying. I gave them my credit card and asked if I could put tip on the card. One of the girls said that yes, I could leave tip on the card. And then she asked me how much I wanted to leave as tip. To which I asked "how much was the treatment?" To which she responded "Well... I usually just let the computer calculate tip for me...20-25% is what we say to leave... dealing with all that math is way to hard...." (and then she kind of fake laughed as if what she said was funny). Which actually didn't answer my question as to how much the treatment was, and was doubly insulting as it implied that I was as dumb as she was and couldn't calculate a simple tip. Furthermore, she was implying that I had to leave a 20-25% tip (which is insanely high for a 60min decent massage at a cramped day "spa" that ironically has no spa-like pools, showers, baths, etc) and also, she did not know how my treatment was and what I felt was appropriate for the treatment. Twenty percent tip is usually reserved for something incredibly special, 25% is pretty much unheard of. Maybe if you are at an elite 5 star establishment that caters to the uber wealthy, and they went above and beyond. Additionally, she was trying to get me to leave tip ON TOP of the hefty nearly 9% NYC sales/service tax. Who tips on tax??? As far as the facilities are concerned, there is no natural light, you can hear the noisy 5th ave traffic in the treatment rooms, the "changing rooms" are very small- like a large walk-in closet. They have some 'snacks' laid out on the waiting room tables (chex-mix?) and fish tanks. The treatment room I was in was warm and was pretty comfortable overall. As I mentioned, the actual massage was good. It would do Ohm Spa some good to teach their front desk staff how to cater to customers and not come off as obnoxious condescending twits. It is a HUGE turn off. Also, as a reminder to the Spa- they are in the service industry, therefore a TIP is something that is to be earned and it is not guaranteed. The customer decides how much to leave. It is incredibly insulting to be told how much you are expected to pay on-top of a $160 service. If Ohm thinks all customers should pay a 25% tip, then perhaps they should just include it in their service price. Next time I need a massage, Ill just go through Zeel. read more

I've gone twice now for a couples massage with my wife. The place is kept very clean and inviting, and there is a wonderful lounge area you wait in before the massage. It appears they keep track of your history and use that to better serve repeat customers. My first massage was very good even though I had a relatively new masseuse (which they informed me of, which I appreciated.) Second was even better. Both were 60 minute Swedish massage with scrub. We treated one of our girlfriends here as part of her bachelorette party and what an amazing service! They offer massages and facials and we each decided to do just massages. I originally selected a regular 60 min Swedish massage but I had to make a last minute special adjustment request and they were super accommodating. Each person gets their own locker and they give you robes and slippers to change in to. The changing area is a bit of a tight space though and unfortunately, they do not have showers. However, the waiting area is very serene and peaceful and the couches are crazy comfortable. I wish they offered nap sessions. Because it was for a bachelorette party, they allowed us to bring in our own bubblies and provided champagne glasses for us. As for the massage itself, my masseuse was incredible! I actually ended up falling asleep and usually that's a great sign! I haven't felt so relaxed in ages. After coming out of the massage, we spent probably another hour in the lounge area just chitchatting and relaxing without anyone rushing us. They also have plates of fruits, nuts, and cookies to munch on. I haven't been to a spa where it was relaxing from the beginning to the end. Receptionists are rude, condescending and snippy. Deep tissue massage was very good, but not better than the $55/hour tui na no frills massages I regularly get. My friend was treated very rudely when there was a mix up regarding payment for her massage. She had booked and guaranteed massages for the two of us. But then her mom kindly called to ask them to bill my friend's massage to her. That caused a lot of drama and they actually interrupted her massage (!!!) to sort out the payment. The owner apologized afterward, and that was nice; but we left feeling stressed out---a terrible way to feel after dropping $150 bucks each. Owner promised to refund "the tip" which he explained would come out of his pocket, to my card. But, I was charged the full amount and no refund has been credited to my account three days later. This spa is amazing!! They treated me and my friend so well. We came in for the mini package of a 30 minute massage and 30 minute facial. I was a bit apprehensive that we might not get a great experience with the shortened service time, but Lauri and Rebekka made sure to maximize the time that they had with us and tailor their treatments to our needs, and we left the spa with faces aglow and relaxed shoulders. Most spas will try and sell you their expensive products, but Lauri seemed to get a good idea of my typical regime (natural, inexpensive) and recommended a few products that I could get from Whole Foods!And, the waiting area is super comfortable and soothing, with plenty of fruit-infused water and a wide selection of teas to sip on. Definitely a 5- star place! This spa was recommended to me by a friend and I wasn't disappointed. I decided to try them out with the 60-60 package, that includes their signature massage and a signature facial. I started with a massage and it was great. My massage therapist did a combination deep tissue massage alternating between hands and elbows, na use for the past 3 weeks I slept on cot as a part of my military training and my whole back was sore. She definitely hit all the knots and worked on the long enough. The only problem with a good massage is that 60 minutes is definitely not enough. And yes, my massage lasted for exactly 1 hour. The facial was amazing as well. I fully trusted my aesthetician and she did a fabulous job. My main goal was extractions and she got it all out. This is THE place to relax and enjoy a thorough, competent and professional spa experience. What impressed us the most was the cleanliness and the top-to-bottom professionalism of everyone there. I didn't want to leave! After changing and being provided with fresh robes and comfortable slippers, they let you unwind in a relaxation lounge with various cookies, teas, waters and other treats. Then, I enjoyed my relaxing and perfect 60-minute Swedish massage, while my friend went for the deep tissue massage, which according to him, solved his tense lower back pain like never before. The soft memory foam-covered bed was heated and felt like heaven. The scents, the soft relaxing piped-in music and the peaceful relaxation lounge were glorious. After the massage, they welcome you back to the lounge to stay as long as you like. Thumbs up to the entire experience. A couple of notes: There are no shower, nor a sauna/steam room or Jacuzzi. We didn't mind that as we weren't necessarily looking for such, so if those are important to you, then Ohm might be your secondary choice. I want to live here. Seriously, I love this place. I only had time for a massage today but it was honestly just delicious. From the hot towels to the scents and oils it was so relaxing. The massage therapist really listened to what I wanted when we spoke at the beginning and from the details I wrote down and did a great job. It was perfect. Afterwards I hung out on the plush couches and enjoyed the little snacks and some peppermint tea. I was so blissed out that I forgot I had to be anywhere that day and just sat. No devices. No doing. Walked in for a couples massage and walked out floating on air. Greeting very warmly and the service continued throughout our stay. Massage was relaxing and therapeutic. Loved hanging out w/ my bf in the lounge afterwards. Munched on some cookies, sipped on strawberry and cucumber infused water and read some magazines in the very peaceful environment. I had a wonderful experience at Ohm Spa. The check in receptionist was so sweet and the waiting area was so calming and pleasant. There was fresh fruit, water and teas available. I had the customized massage as did my son. We both enjoyed our one hour massages and would recommend this place highly. A NYC delight while I was in town. read more
