I received no email confirmation of the deposit or appointments - only got a robotic text message, confirming only 1 of the 2 services booked. There is no phone number to call to speak to a human, only a text number, which is ridiculous. I had read great things about this place, but this first impression is not good. Buyer beware. This was my first experience going to a spa. I enjoyed my time here. Naoko was kind and friendly. She made it welcoming. She makes it relaxing, I would love to come back for more. I did one hour of facial lifting and a head massage package. Naoko helped and examine my neck and shoulder since I mentioned that I have been feeling stiff and tight on my shoulders. I bought the Groupon on a Thursday and I was able to booked an appointment for Monday, i was surprised they could fit me in so quickly. My appointment was with Sakura and she was wonderful! I did not tell her about my jaw issue but I'm sure she felt the tension and she worked it out with just the right amount of pressure and she moved her fingers with quick swift motions. It was heaven. I did a Face lifting + Head + Back massage + micro current, 90min with Kim and it was everything I needed/wanted and more! I've been going to see Naoko san for a couple of months now and I have to say there's something quite magical about her and this place. I usually get the head massage and the facial aroma massage. It's quite heavenly and I've fallen asleep se er times during the session. It's helped relieve stress, I sleep better, and I think my hair has gotten fuller. The place is clean and smells really nice. What's magical about the experience here is every since I've been going, something good happens a few days after my session. Your experience will vary based on which person you book services with. I booked with Kanako. Booking was a bit troublesome because of scheduling. Then a questionnaire form was sent via text around 20 mins before my appointment time asking to accept T&C's, tax, minimum tip percentage, skin type and concerns, etc. There were no directions to get into the building. But there was a doorman when I arrived. The doorman wasn't there when I left though. The doors are normally locked. The building is really nice and modern. My actual spa experience was just okay. My appointment was already rescheduled because the spa asked me. Then I had to wait for another 15mins after arrival before I was brought into a room. Kanako didn't do anything special for my facial and massage. It was like a glorified face wash with a sheet mask at the end. The extractions were poor. They don't do steam extractions here. So it was a serum based extraction and only on the nose. They don't do extractions anywhere else. The face, head, and shoulder massage was unfortunately not very relaxing. I was surprised because I normally love massages. But Kanako didn't hit the right areas, nor did she try. The entire massage is a preset set of motions that she just repeats over the section. It was like 3-5x over a section. So it was more either painful or just felt like nothing. It's not like other massages where the knots are massaged out. It felt like she was a human guasha and it wasn't effective on any of my trigger points. They sort of discourage cash. They prefer venmo but did not specify prior to the appointment. My overall experience was just okay. I'm not in a rush to book someone else to see if it's better. There's so many good reviews. So I'm certain someone else is better. Everyone was very nice at the spa. But my actual appointment time was pushed back with no explanation. Then I was promptly encouraged to leave as soon as possible. Kanako waited outside of my room as I got dressed. Then basically ushered me out the front door when other clients were arriving. My skin was still covered by the products they used and left a residue on my clothes. My skin was still congested. My cheeks felt bruised from the face massage for about a week. I think this is from the massage not being personalize by client and just following the routine. I arrived looking for a relaxing experience. But I didn't get that. I would go back to try a massage with someone else. But I won't be trying a facial at Yuzu again. read more

I was almost 1/2 hour late, which is such a huge jerk move to pull anywhere, but especially a spa since appointments are pretty neatly timed out. I fully expected to be told to reschedule but Aki made sure I was ok and calm and accommodated my appointment as best she could. In the end I think I got my full appointment time. Not a big deal but just a heads up in case the construction is going on still. It has been a month or so and was about to book again but it seems like the prices have doubled, so I'm not sure I'll be back. Prices now seem to be in line with any other facial spot in Manhattan. My aesthetician, Maki, was very sweet and the spa seems very clean and Covid conscious. I had a lifting and microcurrent facial and the results were astonishing. Everything on my face felt so much more relaxed and lifted after a supremely relaxing facial massage. It was so effective that I could actually feel my cheeks unclench and eye puff disappear. Honestly one of the most worthwhile facials I've received. Yes the extractions were very light compared to what I'm use to but that's really not the specialty here. This is the second time I'm having issues with Groupon redemption at Yuzu Spa. After my first visit, I was pushed to return the Groupon I bought and pay the merchant instead, so they don't have to pay Groupon a fee. I get it, and did it as a favor to them. The head massage was okay. There are better places. I purchased another Groupon and was just notified that it no longer works; I would need to sort out my refund with Groupon. Yuzu Spa was wonderful! They took me right at my appointment time, all of the women are so kind and welcoming, and the spa is clean and relaxing with dimly lit cute rooms. This was one of the only places in the city that I found that really focuses on head and scalp massages, which is one of my favorite things, and it really does help relieve stress and neck tension as well as headache relief. I had the 60 minute head massage with Aki, and she was a dream! She had magic hands and really seemed to know where the muscles and stress holding areas are around the head and neck/shoulders to make you so relaxed. She seemed to be very knowledgeable. The music played was so relaxing too, with water sounds and light piano instrumental Disney songs that took me back to childhood. She made me feel so comfortable through the whole thing, and for a few dollars extra I added on the mini face massage as well, which was the icing on the cake. I used to be the business manager for a very large spa, so I've had hundreds of facials from dozens of estheticians. I chose to go to Yuzu because I specifically wanted a facial that focused on face and scalp massage, rather than skincare. (I've been clenching my jaw in my sleep lately, so I wanted to relax my muscles!) Yuzu was a top result on Google when I searched for this type of service, and the reviews and pics looked good. February's special was exactly what I needed - $65 +tax for a 40 min face/neck/décolleté massage plus a 10 minute scalp massage with Aki. The location is VERY clean and quite nice (which can be hit or miss in NYC, especially among affordable spas). There was a bit of construction happening in the hallway of the building, but once I was in the treatment room, I could barely hear it. The relaxing spa music almost entirely drowned it out. Aki was delightful. Not only was her technique wonderfully relaxing, her demeanor was SO polite, warm, and comforting. I appreciated the way she checked in without talking too much, as well as her gentle, soothing voice when she did speak. When I checked out, I was so relaxed I had stars in my eyes!
