I found these guys listed as a recommendation on my results sheet after failing emissions test at llinois Air Team Emission Test Center. I looked two other places up on the sheet given, but chose Oil Plus Auto based off of certain yelp reviews; estimate cost and percentage of others that have passed emissions after going to this location. There were no hidden fees, and they actually finished my car sooner than the estimated time mentioned. When I saw my car being driven off, I wondered where they were taking it, but they actually saved me a trip back to Illinois Air Team Emission Test Center in Skokie by driving it there to get tested for a second time after they fixed my car. Huge win because my check engine light is off, and next emissions test is due March 2020! Worse experience ever honestly. I went in for some help to pass my emissions test and they made me stay in the shop from 9:30am-4:00pm. At the end, they guy told me to come another day they took the engine light off and supposedly they put a new valve in the car. I took my car to Oil Plus about 2 weeks back after the Ziegler GMC dealership nearby that I've been taking my car to for 10+ years refused to even check if my drive cycle had completed prior to my taking the car for an emissions test. The dealership wanted to charge a diagnostic fee! I was concerned about my emissions test as I'd already been blocked from taking the test 3 times due to an incomplete drive cycle. I went to Oil Plus based on the online reviews and they were great. I was met with Zak who is the son of the owner. He brought out his scanner, checked the car and said there was a good chance my car would pass the test this time as the drive cycle shows completed. He asked me to bring the car back if it did not pass the test and Oil Plus would address the situation. He refused to charge me anything saying he did not do anything except plug in the scanner. It was the worst experience, he doesn't care about customers and keeps giving wrong time and appointments , so wasting time. In addition, they don't have air condition at the waiting room. Also, they make mistakes then they charge the customers for their faults. I don't recommend them. Please look for good mechanics. read more

Great place I'm always so happy with the service, a stand in line place but they get it done right.

My car was 20 years old this April and still running very strongly. My EPA test due date is July 31 of odd years so in May I took it to my mechanics to pre-test it and the car needed work on the exhaust system. I was told to drive the car 50 to 75 miles and then bring it back to them to pre-test. I did, and the computer registered as "not ready to be tested." So I drove some more and took it back to my mechanics in early June. The same computer signal occurred many more times. Last week someone told me about Oil Plus Corp. so I took my car there today. Frank got me car's computer to cycle through appropriately, and completely, took the car to the testing facility, and it PASSED. He told me many mechanics take their cars to Oil Plus for this apparently frequently occurring problem. Thank you Frank! I'll see you in two years. read more

I am changing my views from the my previous rating: In October I was told I need to replace all my tie rods, and I told them that I thought they replaced one earlier in the year. Frank said that they were all original. So I brought my receipt in and yes the receipt says they did replace my inner drivers side tie rod in January 2012, then in October 2012 Oil Plus charged me for replacing all 4 front tie rods. Now my car is in another shop that came recommended to me, and they said to me that the two front inner tie rods do not look new. Sounds a little scammish to me. However, I will never go back to Oil Plus. Previous Rating ; I love this place for my auto work. They are fast, reliable, and reasonable. I use to go to Midas and switched about 5 years ago to Oil Plus and will continue to use them and recommend them. read more

Sam and his staff are INCREDIBLY honest, professional, and nice. A true businessman and mechanic in the very best of ways. I had a very loose heat shield on my Toyota Corolla that was dragging on the ground. A previous quality mechanic which I used and was always reasonably priced quoted me at least $100 before lifting it up on the rack. This place lifted it up for free, quoted me $20 to fix it, and had it done in less than 20 minutes. They also were SO fair on a brake job a few months ago. He also told me where to get reasonably priced tires instead of trying to sell them to me at a higher price. I simply cannot recommend them enough. So. I was a bit unsure what to think about this place. My car failed emissions, the emissions place gives me a book of repair places. The book and company names, locations, and each company had a grade. "Oil Plus" had an "A" rating. They must have paid someone a lot of money to get that rating. I went in a few days ago to get a quote and for them to take a look at the car. I was quoted $450. I made an appointment for today, Friday 3/29/13... I took my car in today for them to fix my emissions. They called to say the car was done and I could pick it up. When I got there I was told the bill was more than $550. When I asked why. He told me that two vacuum hoses had to be fixed too. I replied... I know, you told me that already, it was included in the price. His response " I don't ever remember saying that". I should have listened to these other reviews and never went to Oil Plus. They will find a way to squeeze money out of you. If there was a button for NO STARS, they would have gotten that. I can't believe all the bad reviews on here! I've had my car 3 years now and will only go to oil plus. Whatever they quote me is always what I pay, and it's usually cheap! A while back I needed new wipers and my boyfriend told me his dad could put some on for me. I saw wipers in the store for $20, but put it off, and had oil plus do it for me when I went in for some other work. They only charged me $20 for the wipers.. So for the same price I got to cut out the hassle. They also give me the cheapest oil change out of the places I've been to. I also had the check engine light thing but they told us ahead of time it was just a faulty thing that happened with some old cars and they could keep it off long enough to pass the emissions. As long as the car is ok who cares about the light? If you do you probably need a newer car. When I go there I'm greeted by name, everyone is friendly. Of course you should do your research and get an idea what the "going rate" is for what you want done but don't be afraid to check oil plus out! These people are not at all reliable. I don't even think they know how to fix cars right. I live near by them, so they were my best bet. In time i learned a bit about my car and realized just how big of a scam they are. I had problems with my check engine light and they offered to get my car pass the inspection for, i think it was $120. I got myself to fix it, scanned it at autozone for free (they wanted to charge me $45) and got a lousy oxygen sensor for ~$60. Put it myself and passed the emission test. For $120 they don't even fix it for you. They just pass the inspection for you and the check engine light will still come later on. Another thing, if you do, by any chance leave your car there for the time they say they need to fix it, you should know that they usually are done with it hours sooner and at times one of the owners (or maybe both) use it on personal business. I left it like that once and, since i live nearby, i thought to go there and see whats what. Of course my car wasn't there and i was told the "boss took it for a test drive". He was gone for 2 hours! ridiculous. These people should not be in business. I have a few more stories but i think these are enough for you to get an idea... read more
