Wow if I could give this place 10 stars I will. First let's talk about how HUGE their dinners are. I got the chicken Katsu and it was down right delicious. Their miso soup was so tasty and not salty like other places I've been too. Their spicy tuna roll was good I've had better but it was FRESH. everything was just amazing and delivery was literally 15 min. Not sure if it's cause I live 5 minutes away but I'm so happy I found a go to Japanese restaurant around my house. Will def be going back again and again. Love this place awesome food. Good sushi - 3.5 stars. My favorites were the black and white roll, house special roll, and dancing salmon roll. I'm more a fan of sashimi, so disappointed but not shocked that there was no selection on the ayce menu. The seaweed salad was good (standard) and shumai miso soup was worth a try- once. Next time I will keep them separate. At 6pm on a Friday night we had the place to ourselves, by 7:30 two other couples were also dining at the intimate restaurant. One of the best quality sushi places around. Small seating area so it can get packed very quickly. Tried the spicy salmon, spicy crab and the shrimp tempura roll which were all very tasty. Prices are a bit high for sushi but I think it's the norm for this area. read more

I have to say though- only negative is they have really down sized the rolls over the last few months- the specialty rolls used to be very abundant- now they're half the size. I have ordered and picked up from here quite a few times and have really been disappointed yet. Pick up might run a little behind the promised times occasionally, but only by a few minutes. Delivery is always fast and ahead of the time, which I'm fine with; I always run for food pretty late at night since work lets out at 9PM 30 minutes away. The food is fresh for the most part and gets to you still hot. I have yet to actually dine in, but the atmosphere is laid back with a small restaurant like this. I honestly prefer the raw food over the cooked just due to how it's made, but it's not bad either. I would recommend this if you need to get something delivered or need something quick to pick up. read more

My husband and I like to eat at AYCE sushi restaurants so we tried this place for the first time. The restaurant was really small. Good thing we went around late in the afternoon and we were the only customers. Everything in the menu is included in their AYCE. Best sushi and only place I order from now. They even deliver which is a huge bonus! The sushi always tastes so fresh and the portion sizes and prices are great. Delivery can take a bit depending on what time you order, but that is to be expected! I recommend the dynamite roll and shrimp tempura roll. Spicy tuna is also great and the red tuna sushi is some of the best I've ever had. This is a hard review for me to write. I want small businesses like to this to succeed, at least when they aren't doing anything seriously wrong. And this restaurant isn't doing anything seriously wrong- it's okay. If there were no good local competition, I would recommend it. But there are better options nearby, and I can't think of a reason why I'd ever want to return. The good: 1) The fish was fresh. Nothing about the place was disgusting. Service was okay. My order wasn't messed up. 2) The a la carte prices seem pretty typical. Not very high, but not very low. (I got two special rolls with my buffet. The menu showed them at $12/each. If I were ordering a la carte, and got the same rolls, I'd be angry, because they were much smaller than typical special rolls at other restaurants. But maybe Oyishi just makes the buffet rolls smaller.) The bad: 1) While the fish was fresh, I just didn't like the sushi that much. I'm not sure exactly why. Maybe it was the rice seasoning, or the proportion of fish to rice, or the rice's moisture level. I think the crunchiness in my crunchy roll was too much, and I do think they put too much sesame seed in their rolls. But I'm not sure if that's it. What I can say is that I've liked every other sushi restaurant in the area better. 2) The value. The buffet is normally $36/person, though I got in with a half-off coupon that expired yesterday. Even at half-off, I regretted not going to Teaneck Sushi, which has a bigger, better menu, and sushi that tastes better to me. I think Teaneck Sushi is about $23/person on Saturdays, no coupon required. Minado in Little Ferry is $32 on Saturday nights and is also better. I can't imagine paying $36 for Oyishi's buffet and being anything other than angry by the end. For non-buffet sushi, Miyoshi is only a few blocks away, and has a similar price point but better tasting food. Mei on River Street by Shop-Rite has better value and also tastes better to me. I'm sorry. I wanted to like this place, and maybe I just came in on a bad night. But I don't see a reason for me to go back, and unless you're in downtown Hackensack, can't drive, and don't want the a la carte sushi at Miyoshi, I don't see why you should go here either. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Not only was my order incorrect, and 2 hours late, but while a coworker was waiting to get tip the delivery boy asked for it in a rude manner. I recently visited Oyishi Sushi of Hackensack, this is because the restaurant I usually frequent, happened to be closed on Mondays. So I went to this establishment, and was pleasantly surprised. The fish was fresh, and all the assorted sushi and rolls were first rate. The salads, soups were all excellent. And what was best of all they have an all all you can eat at very reasonable price.
