LIMITLESS You can gorge yourself on high-grade nigiri at this excellent AYCE sushi spot. In the mood for a double date, I invited Dan M and his fiancé Liz G to meet me and the lovely Nichole C here for dinner the other night (1/7/18). I'd driven past Oishi plenty of times before, but I failed to realize that it was a "pay one price" establishment, a.k.a. all-you-can-eat sushi. Time to thrown down the gauntlet! We got seated right around 7pm on a Sunday evening and our server was quick to take our order. He took great care of us throughout the meal and made no nevermind that I was the designated alcoholic of the group: Liz G: "I'll have a water." Dan M: "I'll have a hot tea." Nichole C: "I'll have a water." Eric S: "I'll have a large hot sake and bottle of Sapporo." *table erupts in laughter* We filled out our AYCE cards, marking the various rolls of maki and sashimi accordingly. I liked that there was a section for appetizers; I chose a miso soup and house salad to start, along with orders of gyoza, edamame, and chicken yakitori (skewers). They were all tremendously tasty. More sake, more laughs -- lots, actually -- and eventually the sushi emerged. Everyone got something different, but I'll quickly summarize: NC got a spicy salmon roll (6pc), mango-coconut specialty maki (8pc, very tasty), boston maki (5pc), as well as salmon sashimi. LG got a chicken teriyaki maki (5pc, kinda odd, chicken doesn't belong in sushi!) and DM got some form of california roll (6pc). As for me, I chose the ever-reliable rainbow maki (8pc), summer maki (6pc, with jalapeño, cilantro, tuna and avocado), and firecracker maki (5pc, shrimp and cream cheese, deep-fried with eel sauce). Everything was wonderful. It was at that point round #2 came out......and my stomach had run out of room. Though our server claims we ordered 2 of the red dragon maki (shrimp tempura with cucumber, topped with fatty tuna), no one recalls that. Consequently, we had to push ourselves to finish and lemme tell ya folks, it was a challenge. You're charged for every piece you don't eat, in an effort to reduce (or altogether avoid) waste, so be warned if your eyes typically write checks that your tummy can't cash. Most AYCE sushi places operate like this, so exercise judgment when placing your order. Bread = 5 Circuses = 4.5 All things considered, the house lost money on me (probs ate $40 worth of sushi & appetizers), which is fine by me. Everyone's maki was plated nicely and the service was outstanding. I doubt it was intentional, but neither the hot tea nor the beer showed up on the final tab. That was a sweet bonus. * TL;DR * Fantastic stuff for a crazy reasonable $21 price. You pay that up front, then you devour as much sushi as humanly possible until you pass out in your chair (like me) or die like a goldfish.......eating until your abdomen explodes. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Our table of 9 for a birthday dinner were the noisy bunch. But it was nice to sit and take in the ambiance. The staff was attentive and the food was fresh. There's plenty of parking as it is in a strip mall. For a Sunday they had plenty of parking and tables. If you've never been to an all you can eat sushi, bring your appetite. Rice can be really filling. They do have an option of light rice. Which we forgot. But none the less it's a good idea for the next time. The price is decent for all you can sushi - $20.99. Kids are 1/2 price as they do not have a kids menu. The appetizers we tried was the Japanese chicken strips. They were tasty but a little bit dry. They could add a bit more sauce and that could have helped. The fried calamari was like an onion ring. But it was crispier. We all ordered different rolls and had our fill. This is our "go to" sushi place when we visit the area. Great staff and good food. Fresh ingredients and tasty options. We prefer a variety so we usually get the all you can eat and share appetizers and rolls. The dragon is a hit and 1 we always have. But, the other rolls are great too. I wish they had an option for brown rice but not yet. Nonetheless, everything on the menu is good. The place is small and home-like. Plan to wait for a table on busy nights (weekends) and during peak hours. If you like sushi and Asian food, you will like the selection on the menu. All thumbs up from us. We will be back read more

I don't know how does this sushi place got 4.5 star on Yelp. It is the worst sushi place I ever had. It is worst not because the food was not good, but the way they treat their customer. My girlfriend and I ordered all you can eat for lunch and we ordered two roll: Boston roll and fire cracker. They cut each roll in 5 pieces and each piece was 1 inch thick that was full of rice with very little other ingredients. As a result, my girlfriend and I were pretty much full after eating these 2 rolls that worth 10 dollars. If the owner has chance read this review, I just want to let you know that my girlfriend and I can not eat a lot, so don't play this ugly trick. For those who are looking for a good sushi place, I highly recommend not come to this place or at least don't try their all you can eat unless you can eat half tons of rices. A friend and I ate here for the lunch buffet and the sushi rolls and nigiri were filled with rice. The way they make money on the buffet is they fill all the rolls with rice to the point where the each piece is 70% rice. If there is cheese or avocado in the roll, theres less rice but an overpowering amount of cheese or avocado. I swear we'll never come here again. Sushi - Delicious Miso Soup - Ok Service wasn't bad. Prices are pretty average compared to other sushi places. The restaraunt was a lot smaller that I expected. I did experience an allergic reaction after my visit, I'm not exactly sure what it was that caused it but I haven't been back since it occurred. Like I said above the sushi that I ordered was really good but due the fact I had an allergic reaction, I haven't thought about going back. THE BEST! Oishi Sushi knows the ways to make my soul happy. I have truly never had a bad experience here and the staff and service quality is top notch. I've been coming to Oishi for the past 7 years and I haven't found a better All You Can Eat spot in the greater Chicagoland area. The sushi is fresh and super flavorful and the portion sizes are great as well. The menu has a ton of options and the owner is the sweetest person. Oh My God!! Oishi Sushi is my new favorite all-you-can-eat sushi place! My first time here was on a double date with my honey Eric S. and a high school friend of his with his fiancé. I had never been to an AYCE sushi place in the States so my expectation levels were very low. I'm happy to say Oishi Sushi left me positively impressed. I couldn't believe all the options you have to choose from for $20!! We started with miso soup, edamame, and Eric S. ordered some gyoza, which we washed down with a couple of bottles of warm sake. After that, we ordered about 4 different rolls each. I went with my go-to spicy salmon and tempura shrimp rolls but I also ventured out of my comfort zone ordering the coco roll, a sweet and spicy concoction. We did wait for a while but the place was packed, and we had some great conversation going, so we didn't mind it that much. After those rolls I ordered some nigiri pieces, which tasted fresh and delicious. Eric S. and I ended up going home and slipping into a happy, sushi-induced coma. I loved this place so much, I came back TWO days later (after vowing I'd go on a no-sushi cleanse, post-sushi induced coma). It was a Tuesday around 6:00pm so the place wasn't busy at all. This time, as I was alone, I really felt the wait time to get my food. I still devoured 4 rolls, plus 5 pieces of nigiri so everything was awesome but I had to dock a star for the slow service. An amazing sushi restaurant with great rolls. I haven't had one I didn't like. The fish is top quality. One of the ways you tell is by smelling the sushi. If it smells like fish, the fish is old and breaking down. This place serves fresh fish every time, no fishy smell from the sushi. This place rocks! The staff is great, especially the owner. He is super personable each time my girlfriend and I enter. They have a great selection of sushi, including non-fish rolls. Chicken Teriyaki is my favorite! Grilled chicken with Teriyaki! They also have entrees, including hibachi and udon noodles. If I don't get sushi, I get the hibachi chicken, which comes with fried rice and vegetables cooked in seasoned butter. The chefs also mix butter and olive oil for a divine dipping sauce to pair with the meal. Most sushi places are overpriced and pretentious; this one is not. Keep in mind that this is an all you can eat sushi place, therefore you are sacrificing a little bit on the quality of the fish. Overall the variety of rolls and options in the all you can eat menu are very good and abundant. Some of the fish in the nigiri felt a little tough for my taste such as the regular tuna and white tuna. Also, the rice in the nigiri was a little warm for my taste, thus it would fall apart when picked up. Something fishy is going on at Oishi Sushi, and I'm going to be honest, I'm completely here for it! I mean, all you can eat sushi that isn't going to fling you onto the mud bucket all night definitely isn't an easy thing to come across. From the beginning of my experience, my associates and I walked up to the storefront, realizing the major capacity issue that was at hand. Packed like a can of sardines is an understatement, but it got me excited considering the food must be good if it managed to achieve a sold out show. We didn't want to overcrowd the patrons gorging themselves inside, so we did a little maneuver where we stood in the doorway, half in the restaurant so the server wouldn't forget about his highly honored guests, but also half in the foyer area in order to be courteous of the other paying people. Some jokester sitting as close to the door as possible must have woken up on the wrong side of his ex-wife's couch, because he asked my associate Marty to close the door because he was "cold." Sack up baldy, you look like the Buddha statue that greets everyone when they first enter the joint. As we waited and waited, the line grew increasingly longer, and we began to fall by the wayside, worried that the host would forget about us, just like most people do. Luckily, when it came time for a 4 person table to open up, he remembered us as if we were his children, nestling us every so carefully into our spot. FOOD TIME! The blue paper menu had an overwhelming list of sushi rolls, appetizers, and sides. I was going to get my moneys worth, so I ordered at least 8 rolls, shoveling each and every piece down my gullet. At one point I considered ditching the chopsticks, standing up, and going for the Joey chestnut water dip and shimmy to get the food down. Thank god it didn't come to that. The only thing that didn't thrill me was the salmon skin roll, but I live with no regrets, and I'm glad I took a leap and tried it. We even tried tofu for the first time, which my associate ace popped into his mouth fresh out of the fryer, and immediately ejected it from his mouth when the inferno hit. My boy Marty has been here multiple times, so he was the veteran who had to keep an eye on us rookies. Finally, my pal legs Robbins had some unfortunate embarrassing run ins with the lovey waitress, so he left with a bit of shame. At the end of the raw fish filled ocean, Oishi Sushi hit the spot. Some advice from a now seasoned vet is to have as empty a stomach as possible, otherwise you're not going to be successful and they're just going to ring you dry of money because you were too wimpy to eat a few extra bites. Some other review I saw from this place was from a lady who said she got an allergic reaction from the food. That's just flat out false, if you have a strong immune system after pushing your body to the limit like I do day in and day out, your body should be a fortress just like mine. It's your fault lady, not theirs. Furthermore, everyone needs sushi in their lives because it just something fresh and tasty to please your wildest dreams. Whether you enjoy a romantic evening of bliss with your significant other, or a night of shenanigans with the homies, Oishi should be on your list. Expect a wait if you go on a weekend, but that extra wait time will free up just enough room for an extra roll. Speaking of which, I gotta hit the road, so I'm going to roll out. I went here for all you can eat lunch and it's quite a nice experience. The overall quality of their food is good but I would say the best one is their make to order sushi and rolls. Definitely good quality! I'd suggest that share the appetizer to start with. Their tempura and fried chicken are pretty good.
