I came in to order a takeout and the one at the counter was a Chinese lady and i asked nicely if they did a price increase, I was not expecting he to get scared of my question that she frizzed and looked scared or was it confused, her husband who was serving customers came to the front and with a loud voice said "hey, we had price increase maybe a year ago and i dont know when you were here the last time" i said oh a year ago, its ok. The raised voice got me a little anxious and felt a little fear in my heart since i am an old man. But my order came fast and i was out fast. Today is National Chop Suey Day and that turned out to be the perfect dinner choice. I did not have a place in mind so I searched the closest spot to me and came across Malahini Terrace. I called to place a phone order and my food was ready in fifteen minutes, piping hot and ready to go! The woman at the hostess desk had my food waiting and was very kind and efficient with my order. There is the cutest little Tiki Bar right next to the cash wrap that caught by eye. There is plenty of seating and a low noise level. It is located in a strip mall so there are plenty of spots to park. The Chop Suey did not disappoint. It totally hit the spot and made celebrating the National Day more fun! If you are in the Willowbrook area and craving some quick, yummy Chinese food this is the spot to try. read more

I get carryout about 2x a month from here as the whole family lives it. Live in Burr Ridge, been coming here for 13+ years. My daughter's home from UK and she said Chinese food in Lexington is terrible. So we thought we'd give a shout out to our Fav. Our go to dishes. Top of the receipt is Shanghai lo mein with no vegetables and double chicken (hubby is picky) It's in a large container, but it's a small. I got the same thing but with the veggies... has lots of flavorful thick soft noodles. Hard to tell from the pictures with a chicken and veggies on top. Chicken teriyaki small and my Favorite is the chicken and broccoli small but I add water chestnuts. My menu is probably 10 years old so prices are not updated. Great quality meat and fresh veggies. People are nice and food takes less that15mins to make. I've only eaten in here a few times pre-Covid. I typically pop in late heading home from work, so can't judge weekday atmosphere. read more

The food we ordered had the WOW FACTOR ! Spicy green beans (Mandarin style) Shrimp Curry, and Beef Chow-Fun (Pan-fried Crispy rice noodles) Only recommendation when ordering your dishes to tell them easy on the oil,other than that , the dishes had the burning of the WOK TASTE (WOK-MEH TASTE) so if you don't wanna drive to Chicago CHINATOWN and you're looking for good oriental food. My daughter and I are constantly on the look out for great Chinese food and omg - I think we found our spot!!!! We both ordered Mongolian Beef - extra spicy and it did not disappoint!!!!!! The quality of the meat was exceptional!! No fat, no weird texture or color. The gravy was omg good. I actually wanted more. The spice level was on point. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ever tried at Malahini Terrace. When I call for a pick up order, it's ready on time. I've tried many different options and have enjoyed them all. I haven't yet dined in, but it's on the to-do list. The egg drop soup, so I'm told is very good. I can tell you that it's always hot, like hot hot. I also really enjoy how there are souvenirs such as some interesting snacks, baseball cards and really a variety of gifts to look through. I recommend taking your time and looking around at all the neat stuff while you wait for your food, which won't take long. read more

Sanitation = 1 star After eating the chicken fried rice here my mouth got sores on the inside by my gums along with my son! This has never happened after we ate anything. It took a couple days of rinsing with salt water for the swelling to go away. Health department needs to do a surprise inspection here. Food quality = 1 star After reading all the good reviews on here I thought this chicken fried rice with pineapple would be stellar. How can you mess up chicken fried rice? The chicken was tough, prob overcooked. The rice was really under seasoned. The pineapple was not sweet at all, seems the pineapple used was not ripe. Also I ordered a large fried rice, but when I opened the container it was only about 2/3 full. Service = 1 star The attitude of the woman who took care of me was the worst I have experienced at any Chinese restaurant ever. Not many Chinese restaurant owners are really ever friendly, but this woman was just mean. Maybe she was having a bad day, but her brashness and rude behavior (along with the mouth issue) are reason enough for me to never come back. The beef was very tender. Cut it easily with a fork. My wife got the Honey Walnut Chicken. The breading on that was different and was even lighter. We shared the Flaming Tid Bits app. Crab Rangoon was large, light and super tasty. Bbq pork was good. The skewers of beef and chicken were GREAT! Egg rolls seemed freshly made, not frozen. Malahini Terrace has been our family Chinese takeout favorite since 2005. Realized today that I never yelped them. Consistently great, always on their time for pickup, great price, and fantastic leftovers. We have food for three people for two meals, the price works out to less than $15 per person. They always pack fortune cookies. Thanks for great takeout, hope that restaurants can reopen for table service soon. Oh, you can order online or by phone for takeout. And they have lunch specials. Best Polynesian, Asian-American, Hawaiian restaurant in the state. Before Covid we enjoyed the buffet unfortunately that's been discontinued. Been going here since the 1990s. I knew the first owner who opened Malahini Terrace back in 1982. He was a sincere and knowledgeable man with a big devolution for serving then Darien, Illinois and Denny the latest owner serves Willowbrook, Illinois well too since taking over back in 2012. read more

After moving to the area, I passed on this place for years because of the mixed reviews but I am so, so glad I decided to finally give it a shot. I've been back twice since. Different people like different kinds of Chinese food and Malahini Terrace serves exactly the type my family loves which, if we're honest, is probably the unhealthier kind of more Americanized Chinese food. Sometimes everything you order from a Chinese restaurant tastes like brown gravy, but every dish here that we've ordered has been distinct and flavorful, and the portions are very generous. The eggrolls are some of the best I have ever had and we always get the Cantonese lo mein, usually with pork, because it works as both an entree and a side. The breading on the chicken/shrimp/pork in the sweet and sour special tastes almost like donuts which may not be up everyone's alley but we loved it. We've also enjoyed the mango chicken, general's chicken, beef and broccoli, and steak, pepper, and tomato. I spend about $40 to get three large entrees and four eggrolls and there's always leftovers for my family of two adults, a very hungry 11 year old, and a picky two year old to eat for lunch the next day. I've been reluctant to try the orange chicken because it has orange slices in the photo and I generally don't like when orange chicken actually tastes like oranges (weird, I know) but everything is so good and balanced here I might just go against my instincts and order it anyway. read more

It was an overall disappointment, from what I can remember nothing that I ordered was good. I ordered Crab-Meat Rangoon, Sugar Doughnuts & Island Fried Shrimp. The shrimp were huge ... The food tasted like the people who are cooking it just don't care anymore. Unless this place gets new management and cooks I more than likely won't order from here again. Haven't been here in a month of Sundays but they still serve "SHRIMP TOAST"!! If you're looking for it ( and I have been) here it is in all its Shrimpy Splendor! Our plates were very tasty also just some favorites of ours the 4 Seasons & Moo Shu Pork. Plenty in both plates with a good bowl of steamed rice. Why do they always serve broccoli with Chinese dishes, its disgusting & not really Chinese? Who wants to eat sticks in their dinners? If they want or have to add something Green I'd tether it was those flat green beans. I'm sure I am not the only person who dislikes eating the trees from the isle of Lilliput, green gummy bears would be better!
