Oishii Express is awesome, the food is good, and the service is amazing. This is a cute little sushi joint, not a Michelin restaurant. Don't listen to pansy Obese Valley News as he is just hurt because his squeeze had to walk a little bit to fetch something. (God forbid anyone walk anymore, am I right?). Anyway, I digress... As far as the food goes, you have quite a selection for such a small town. The menu is extensive enough so you can order a bit of everything. The portions are nice and the presentation is lovely! The prices are very reasonable, especially for sushi, which is why I love it so mich. Don't listen to Big Valley Obese Jerk as he complains about walking for God's sake. this was my first time visiting and i ordered 3 rolls, salmon roll, california roll & shrimp tempura roll. the other two rolls tasted great and would order again but after biting into the salmon roll i just got a disgusting taste in my mouth, that's when i examined the pieces of salmon in the rolls and saw they were this brown/grey color, iv never experienced this before with purchasing raw salmon.... i'm honestly just wondering what the owners of the restaurant have to say because they obviously saw the discoloration but chose to serve it anyway... read more

Some people can be soooo funny and ignorant! It says Pak n Save Mr. Big Valley News maybe it's time you get your eyes checked or a new set of glasses Sr.! All the signs are to direct people that can fallow simple instruction ( a little giddiness) and they do call your name so you have to wait for your name to be called simple as that.. If they haven't called you it's because they are making your food and putting lots of in it and just FYI it's the best sushi of ever had and not to mention customer service, I always feel like at home they are a family own so I wouldn't expect any less ... Mcdonals doesn't serve your drink as far as I know. You still have to walk to the soda machine and get it yourself and when you're done eating you pick up your trash and throw it away right?!!! I feel like I don't have to travel to Fresno or farther to get decent sushi anymore. The price is more than competitive with other sushi places ($8 - $14 / roll). The teriyaki bowls are huge, not to mention they have more than just beef, chicken, or pork to choose from. Service was as expected. No table service or refills. You go to the counter, grab a menu, take a seat to find what you want, go to the register and order. If you're eating in, they'll bring the food to you. All of the ladies seemed very pleasant. There was an older gentleman who seemed to be a chef. He was adjusting a screen that didn't look like it needed adjustment. This tells me that he is very particular in how things need to be. Being a person like this, I find it very respectable. It shows his attention to detail. My only complaint is that the beef for the teriyaki bowl was a bit tough. This is due to how cooked the meat was. I prefer my steaks medium for this reason. I will definitely be back. I've been looking for another good, nearby place to add to my lunch roster! read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the sushi; it was very tasty and hit the spot! I ordered the "Love, Love Roll" and loved it (of course). Arrived just after 12pm on a weekday to a full house which was nice to see our community supporting a local business. Staff was friendly and helpful with the menu. When asked, they gave suggestions on the popular sushi rolls which ultimately led me to my order. I find it difficult to pick a roll at a place I'm unfamiliar with, and because of this, it meant a lot to receive their feedback. Another plus for me was being able to place my order at the front counter rather than having to sit down and wait for menus and a server. It allows people to get in-and-out much more efficiently which is important while on lunch hour and having to return to the workplace. Next time I will review menu before arriving so I'm ready to order (I took awhile to decide and asked several questions which led to a backed up line; my bad!) I may even call in my order to save more time. The only negative I have to say is the Teriyaki Beef-Don was just okay...but I'll simply focus on the sushi because sushi is probably the best menu option anyway. I can't wait to try more! read more

I finally decided to give this place a whirl.... being that it was in Madera I wasn't excepting much. It I was so wrong! It is actually very good and reasonable and the staff was really nice! My daughter loved it and then portions were very pleasing! Finally sushi in Madera whoda thought! Now the only concern it lasting. Place opened up couple of months ago and I've been going non stop. Food tastes fresh and is reasonably priced. My go to is the poke bowl. It's filling, delicious, and reasonably healthy. At ten bucks the poke bowl is a great lunch. Cooking is very transparent as you can see into the kitchen and the staff is pretty friendly. This place definitely trumps the last establishment here and is a welcomed addition to Madera Food Scene. read more

The girl at the front offered to take my number and call me if it was done sooner. I went across the street to the drugstore and when I walked in, I received the phone call that my sushi was ready. The rolls were great, fish was fresh, just like the Fresno location. They're still new so service runs a bit slow so I recommend sitting at the bar area and giving your order directly to the sushi chefs. Its alright! They need to work on the sauces, its missing something.. my last experience there i ordered Bacon fried rice, tiger roll w/ cream cheese and a dragon roll to go. When she gave us our order she read back Shrimp fried rice, i told her i had said bacon fried rice to which she said "I read back your order" before i had paid. Im not one to complain and have them redo my order so i just ended up taking it(i dont like shrimp like that). We got home, picked out the shrimp and gave it to my family. We opened up the sushi and they ended up putting the cream cheese on the dragon roll instead of the Tiger roll like we had said. Pretty annoying if u ask me. FINALLY..............MADERA FINALLY HAS A SOLID JAPANESE PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was the first time I have been to this establishment, and I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The sushi rolls were large, and well constructed. The Bacon Fried Rice (my personal favorite, especially since all the teppanyaki places are closed due to Covid) was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The Gyoza (I get mine fried YUMMY) was AWESOME. I got the chicken teriyaki bowl, but there wasn't any sauce on it...:BUT it was still good. I would definitely go there again, I am glad to support this small business. I hope the people of Madera enjoy and frequent this establishment as much as I will. I would love to see this place make it through the Pandemic and beyond. The customer service was friendly and fast, just how it should be. Good job guys...HANG IN THERE!!!!!! read more

Finally a sushi place in madera that actually meets sushi standards! The last sushi place they opened in this spot was really sketchy (ugh it was gross, like the fish was left out, I just saw that and b lined for the door!) They turned it around with this beautiful gem! The crew members are so friendly and inviting, the sushi is really yummy, as are their other dishes! The fried rice with a side of unagi sauce hits the spot for sure! Definitely recommend this place to maderians looking for a sushi fix. read more
