My husband is gluten free, and it's very difficult for us to find any breads or pastries he can eat now without getting sick. So when I heard we had a dedicated GF bakery here in town I was pretty excited to try it. We bought a variety of things, including a pear galette, cinnamon roll, a muffin and I think we got some bread too. This was a month or so ago. The woman working that morning was polite and professional. I'm giving this three stars "OK" because I think if you need to eat GF and also Vegan, you should probably try this place out. That said, my hubby and I didn't enjoy any of the things we bought here, and we don't need to eat vegan, so I don't see us returning. My personal experience was more like 2 stars of "could've been better" in terms of the food. In particular, the galette dough was the consistency of sand (excessively disappointing and unappetizing), and the cinnamon roll was extremely underwhelming. I know how gluten works and I have had some (not many, but some) amazing GF baked goods including carrot cake and blueberry muffins, so maybe the fact that these are also vegan is what ruined them for me. Prices seemed fair for GF/V, which means they're high if you don't need one or both of those things.

My family headed to Ojai for the day and decided to start our day at SunOven! It was truly a sweet way to start our day. Ren was there to help us and she was so kind and sweet to my kids, my husband, and me as well. We purchased two cinnamon rolls and two donuts. Because we purchased four pastries we got an additional one for free! Everything was so good! I had been here before for a Yelp Elite experience and I loved everything, so I had to come back for some more goodies. The bakery is small, but plenty of space to go and pick up your order. See you soon SunOven!

    Chocolate doughnut

SunOven is a must-visit for all my gluten free friends!! I've only recently learned of my gluten intolerance & switching up my diet has been rough. I miss all of the sweet treats I used to eat!! I had the chocolate doughnut at SunOven & it was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! The best gluten free bakery item I have yet to have! The shop itself is absolutely adorable & the service was delightful!

Ordered a pumpkin pie here for Thanksgiving. Can honestly say people who eat gluten loved the pie just as much as I did! Perfectly baked and really high quality ingredients. Thank you!

Rice crispy treat pops so good.

Great place for Gluten free in the Ojai Valley. Prices are a bit high but the shop does use high quality ingredients.

They do a soft close from 2-5 where they don't serve the food menu but offer drinks, coffee and pastries. We stopped in on the 4th of July and were seated right away. They also have a coffee and pastry counter if you want to grab something to-go. You do not want to miss out on the pastries, and the display sure catches your eye. Along with our main we split a morning bun which was flaky and just the right amount of sweet. As we were walking out I noticed some sandwiches that looked extra tasty as well. We kept it simple and split the Dutchess Breakfast Plate since we had quite a bit of eating planned for the day, but it was more than enough to satiate us alongside the pastry. It comes with these massive, crispy and spiced potatoes, big slabs of Niman Ranch bacon, tomato chutney, thick-cut sourdough toast and two eggs. At $22 this isn't cheap, but the quality is there and I would order this again just for those potatoes. The Burmese Fried Chicken Sando seemed to be the most popular dish and I was jealous as I saw it hitting other tables. I'll just have to come back!

The Farmer and the Cook -- Fresh Finds Off the Main Road…read more I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect walking in for the first time, but The Farmer and the Cook won me over pretty quickly. It's bright, clean, and has this easy organic warmth to it... the kind of place that feels like it was put together by people who actually care. Right off the main road, easy to find, and the family vibes are real. It's the kind of spot you want to linger in. If you're navigating dietary restrictions, this place is a quiet goldmine. Strong gluten free options, a genuinely vegan friendly menu, and plenty of vegetarian choices too... so everyone at the table actually gets to eat something they're excited about. That's rarer than it should be. The food? Solid. I went with the raw tacos, sopes, and huarache; all filling, all fairly priced for the area. The raw tacos especially surprised me... fresh, flavorful, and not in a "I wish this was a real taco" kind of way. These hold their own. Service was quick and most of the staff had a warm, genuine energy about them. The one small snag; the cashier seemed to be having a rough one. A little gruff, made me feel like my first visit was mildly inconvenient for them. It happens, we all have bad days, but first impressions do stick a little. Overall though, I'm absolutely coming back. There's more on that menu calling my name and an atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down for a bit. Whether you're vegan, gluten free, or just looking for something fresh and honest... this one's worth the stop.

It's located in a parking lot behind the main strip and in a residential area. All street parking but it tends to be pretty easy. There's a bakery vendors that I've had a few times but they do sell out quite fast. Their fresh baked bread and sweets are one not to be missed. This visit, they weren't there in their usual section so I assume they were pretty much sold out fast. Loads of fresh organic vendors with all their goods. As it was summer, there were so many vendors with amazing tomatoes. Heirlooms, grape tomatoes and so all. Everything all looked so fresh and I'm sure it was straight from the farm that morning. Also loads of other vendors selling their homemade goods, like soap to candles to everything in between. Majority of the vendors are fresh produce so you know you'll be picking up fresh farm products. Also fresh flowers are always a must when a visiting the farmers market. Can't forget the fresh berries and fruits. Doesn't scream summer without all the fresh berries straight of the plant. Regardless what you're looking for or not, I'm sure you'll always leave with plenty of fresh things at this market. Their items are always so fresh. A must whenever I'm Ojai. My other friend did not enjoy her drink and in her opinion was possibly the worst latte you could ever have at a whopping $10 a pop. I'm not really sure why the owner, Stacy, felt entitled to ask I take down my review. But it will in fact stay, and I hope every person who ventures to visit this coffee shop stays away. Yelp was made to make honest reviews about one's experiences. Smart business owners know not everyone will have the same experience. The main goal to have with a unsatisfied customer is to understand what went wrong and to listen to the feedback, not win the argument!
