New AYCE for sushi. The sushi pieces were smaller than normal, which was fine because we were able to try other selections. The Lion King roll was one of the best I've ever had :). You have to try the Okawa roll too, it's very delicious!!! We went on a Friday night around 7pm and we were seated right away, it wasn't busy at all. I'm surprised this place was not busy at all when we came for birthday lunch on Saturday. We did make reservation through Yelp but should've been OK even without one because only ~20% was occupied. The waiter took our order right away and food came super quick. We ordered all of their special rolls by accident but thankfully each rolls were perfect size with not too much rice so we manage to finish them but few rolls definitely feel redundant so will pay closer attention next time. They now up the sashimi allowance to 1 order of 5 pieces per person (only 1 kind of fish per order tho). I recommend getting the sashimi salad, salmon carpaccio, pepper tuna, pepper albacore for your fix of salmon, tuna, hamachi/albacore and get other fish type for your sashimi allowance. I highly recommend getting hamachi kama, Saba, tonkatsu and soft shell crabs. The takoyaki was too much dough. Was very disappointed they didn't have the mochi ice cream but their lychee ice cream (more like sorbet) is very good. Love it much more than matcha ice cream. Sesame balls are also freshly made with perfect bite size. I couldn't find anything about birthday treat but was surprised they gave free cheesecake and even play happy birthday song throughout the whole restaurants. This place was nothing special. To be honest far from it the pricing is a little on the higher side and I wish the pricing would reflect in terms sense terms of taste. However it was a disappointment. I came here with another person and they were also disappointed with the flavor of the food. It lacked a lot. The sauces were all not great except the sauce I had on the tiger roll. I don't recommend this place for their food. The best thing there was the ginger!! I ate 3 plates of it LOL. The ambiance is very nice and everything feels good and up to date, however, the men's restroom smelt horrendous and not in a poop way. It smelt rotten. I was told the women's restroom was absolutely filly and disgusting that the girl I was with didn't even want to use the restroom and notified staff immediately. For an AYCE place the quality of fish isn't bad. My favorite was the yellowtail. I think that it was really nice that there wasn't an over load of rice but towards the end the rice got sour. They might have added too much vinegar. They messed up our orders a few times and gave us dishes from different tables which was off putting. In the world of sushi, Okawa is a straight 3.0 but in the world of AYCE sushi, I have to give the place a 4.0. It charges a fair price for a fairly diverse menu(includes sashimi salads, chirashi and baked mussels) with good quality fish and served with a moderate amount of rice as a lot of places with AYCE typically do not do.. They even have tobiko, which is something that usually doesn't exist in places that offer AYCE. Stick with the nigiri and you can't go wrong at Okawa. Went to Okawa Sushi on Calaveras with friends and honestly had a great time. Prices were super reasonable for how much food we ended up getting, and the atmosphere was really fun -- especially if you're into K-pop since they were playing it the whole time. The soft shell crab was easily the favorite at our table. We kept re-ordering it over and over and probably got like 10 plates total lol. The fish was fresh and really good overall, and some of the limited fish/special items were especially delicious. i love this place and i'm so glad they opened this location as sake2me is a little far from me. the price is really good and the salmon is soooo good. it tastes high quality and the service is great as well. from the appetizers, i love the crab, tempura, baked mussels and both kamas. We had dinner here on a Saturday night. It wasn't too crowded and got seated right away. The place is brand new and very clean. The servers were all really nice and attentive. We did the premium since we enjoy eating nigiris. Overall, the food was all good. The rice ratio was actually perfect for us when we went and wasn't too much at all. I saw previous reviews about the rice ratio and was hesitant, but pleasantly surprised at how the food turned out. We tried a good variety of food and nothing was a miss, except maybe the tuna carpaccio. It was just a bit too lean for a tuna cut for us, but that could be a personal preference. The salmon and hamachi collar were definitely our favorite dishes of the night! They had so meat on it! The rolls also I had a good ratio of filling to rice. We've gone to Kenzo and their rolls are so stuffed it's not even appetizing. Rolls should be eaten in one bite and this definitely hits that mark. Plus it gives us room to try other foods. Love this place! We really enjoyed our meal here today. Ayce premium was definitely worth it. The salmon carpaccio was delicious as were all the hand rolls. The 49er roll had just the right lemony bite. All the rolls had a good fish/rice ratio. The miso soup was very tasty. Staff came by frequently to clear plates and see if we wanted to order more. It is one of our favorite restaurant find recently. We have been here 4 times in the few weeks and had a great experience every time. The waiters are nice and fast. I. Fought my 7 and 2 year old here and they are very kid friendly. The quality of food/fish is much better than premade sushi buffet places and on par/better than other made to order ACYE sushi places. We did the premium AYCE every time. The selection is not the biggest but enough. I appreciate that for their nigiri, they do not purposely give you a whole bunch of rice. The rice to fish ratio is perfect. I only wish they do not limit the special to one per table but do one per person instead. My husband wants the one with jalapeño but can't do that with kids. Also, maybe also not limit dessert to one per person. It would be nice for my daughter that only ate French fries for $10 to have 2 ice cream. read more

Some reviews saying it's expensive for what you get here...most AYCE sushi places I've been to are about the $40 range, so I don't know where you can get it cheaper than $40 for all you can eat? I'm curious where other people go when they say this place is not that good because Kenzo is definitely more rice than fish ratio and not have soft shell crab/hamachi kama ect on menu. Was excited that we had a new AYCE sushi place nearby. Upon entry, outside of the door there were lots of cigarettes butts lying on the floor. We weren't greeted when we walked in and waited about 5 minds before being seated in a bear empty restaurant. Looking at the nebula there is a regular price $34.95 and premium price $39.95. Difference if premium you get a handful of more items. Sad to see that ayce place did not have any type of spider roll. You could order a soft shell crab as an appetizer but who wants that. Ordered our first round. Wasn't too Wowed. Sushi rolls smaller than most places but at least it didn't fall apart when you picked it up. Watched our waitress walk by our table several times and 25 mins later before we could our second round. Helped every other table around but not ours. After that I was done with the terrible service. We opted for the all you can eat premium menu because it seemed like it was more worth it than the basic AYCE menu. There was a large variety of appetizers and fish options with unique specialty items. I do wish the premium menu had the option to order one specialty roll. The quality of the fish was good. The salmon had a melt in your mouth type texture. The unagi was our favorite of all the options available for the AYCE. The rice however, was the low light of the meal. Been living in the area and this building is something new every year. This year it's an AYCE sushi place. It was easy to make reservations and they sat us down quickly. The service in my opinion is spread to thin. They have way too many tables and no workers to accommodate all of them. I think after being sat we waited atleast 30 minutes to order and another 30 minutes to get our order. There's a time limit as well when you're seated. Our drinks we ordered never came but we were charged. All the tables around us were getting angry and frustrated because of the extremely long wait. We ordered only twice then we realized if we ordered again we probably would have waited another hour. I've never seen such slow and backed up service. There were too many mistakes and problems that occurred. Maybe hire more workers or service less tables. Luckily it looked pretty neat inside. Everything was clean and organized. This place just opened up in Milpitas! The staff is super friendly! They have an all you can eat menu on one side that has pretty good items. They also offer rolls that is not part of the all you can eat option. The floor feels open and big and the windows are nice. My fave is the baked mussels and soft crab. read more

One of the better AYCE sushi places I've ever been to. The fish was fresh, the rolls were all good and the food came to the table fairly quickly. Plenty of wait staff and servers, so there really wasn't much waiting time once we were seated. Would absolutely go here again and probably do the Nigiri premium option next time, as the Nigiri all looked very fresh and delicious. The only lowlight was the Takoyaki balls, which were basically all batter, but the waiter was nice enough to take those away without charging us. Mochi ice cream was a nice way to end the meal.
