[SERVICE: 2.5] The workers were very quiet when I last visited. They didn't greet me or anyone else that came through the door and they only have 1 person working the afternoon shift on a weekend. The cashier would take an order, then tell the next customer to wait as she prepared the last customers drink and then take the new customer's order. It was very inefficient and she was about 4 orders behind. We waited about 20 minutes in total (to order and get our drinks but there was only 2 other people ahead of us). The customers before us even left the store and then came back for their drinks. Other than that, she was very knowledgeable of the products and was able to answer all my questions very well. [PRODUCT: 3] I had a matcha milk tea with boba and the boba was waayy too overcooked. It was very very soft. Even after I had refrigerated my drink for 3+ hours, the boba was still insanely soft. The tea itself was pretty good, a little sweet but not overbearing. My boyfriend ordered the green apple black tea and it tasted like burnt tea. The green apple taste was there but the black tea tasted awful. Another person in our party ordered a mango slush and that was absolutely delicious. I really liked how they had so many size options. We even got a cute light bulb jar for one of our drink! It glows in the dark too! [ENVIRONMENT: 3] This place is very small and it was quite stuffy. We went in the afternoon but I suppose it wouldn't be so hot at night. There was a lot of chairs and tables inside and outside as well. Where to start. I've been a Oko fan for a while. One of the cashiers knows me by my name. Recently, since the menu expansion, the quality has gone down hill. About two weeks ago, I came in and ordered the Oko cookie milk tea and a spam musubi. I was told they were out of cookie milk tea and they didn't serve spam musubi, even though their brand new advertisement listed it. Okay, fine. New plan. Sesame milk tea and takoyaki. They had 10 different flavors for takoyaki, which is kinda weird, but whatever. I got the old school octopus and cheese. After waiting 30 minutes for both because they ran out of tea at 2 pm, I finally indulged. What a gross misrepresentation of takoyaki. My takoyaki was 50% red ginger. Red ginger?! That wasn't even listed as an ingredient. I ate 2 out of the 6 I ordered. The rest went into the trash. Fast forward to today. Sesame milk tea and trying out their omusubi. Again, a thousand different flavors. Okay, tuna mayo, a standard. They advertised "special nori" and if they meant stale, congrats. My omusubi, which I will now call PRT (plain rice triangle) had no tuna in it. Okay a lie. It had probably half a teaspoon. I've had better omusubi from Famima. The PRT was so bland and blergh that I will never order it again. It was only $3.50 but, dang, that's another round of boba, if I decide to come back. I want to say it's because the menu keeps drastically changing and they can't keep up. My favorite boba place has been a chore to go to lately. Usually come here when it's late and I'm not sure what other boba places are open. It's pretty good. I don't usually get anything other than drinks. I always get a fusion tea with their kawaii size. The fusion tea can mix up to three flavors and I think it's a good deal. I always get a mango passion fruit green tea without any add-ons but occasionally would add aloe. It's a good place to satisfy late night cravings. They are open pretty late so you won't need to worry about rushing to get anything. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars though is because of the seating area. When it's busy there's no where to sit so it's hard to chill inside when there are too many people. read more

Was in the mood for boba and someone said this place was their local favorite, so we had to go! We got the brown sugar milk tea and the cookie-flavored milk tea (a bit pricier and I thought it would be like an oreo flavor, but it was more like a vanilla cookie). We went on a Friday night around 10:30 and the place wasn't too crowded. It seems like a good hangout spot and also sells some delicious-looking items like rolled ice cream and savory foods. The size of the cups blew my mind. They can be as big as someone's head LOL. I've never seen anything like it. The customer service was great; the cashier was very patient and recommended things to us considering it was our first time. I'd say tone the sweetness town on the drinks. The wait time is actually better. They don't take a long time to make your drink(s) as they did before. The only gripe I have is about one of their employees. I believe her name is Nicole and she's always there. She looks Filipino and in her 20's. She NEVER smiles and is always in a rush. She doesn't take the time to listen to your questions. What she needs is more PATIENCE!!!!! She tries to be cordial but I can see right through her. She is NOT genuinely kind. She's just forced to do the bare minimum. Club-like, eardrum-busting music level. I was wearing 32db earplugs and the loudness still blew me away when we walked in. Everyone - from customers to workers - had to yell to be heard over the music. My ears actually hurt being in there, and were ringing for hours afterwards. I haven't assaulted my ears this badly since I saw X Japan play Madison Square Garden. This place is supposedly Japanese, when it has all the same kind of food you can get at a Taiwanese boba place (except stinky tofu), plus taiyaki and takoyaki, and some Japan-ified boba drinks (like Hokkaido-style milk tea) and drink toppings/mixins (like takesumi bamboo charcoal powder). What drew me in was their taiyaki parfait, which is similar to the dessert I have been missing since we left NY, the glory that is Taiyaki NYC and their soft serve ice cream served in "cones" of taiyaki. Taiyaki without ice cream are $2.75 each or 2 for $5. I don't like the texture of the taiyaki here. Also it has a vaguely chlorine-y smell, maybe from the water they use to make the batter? I think it's the water because all bread-like items taste better in NY where there's better water (comes from the mountain springs upstate). Also the almond flour that Taiyaki NYC makes their taiyaki from is delicious and is either gluten-free or at least low gluten, because I don't get sick from them. Also the taiyaki filling is sub-par. The red bean is too chunky and has the skins in them, unlike the smooth, creamy, skinless red bean paste at Taiyaki NYC, and the chocolate and custard fillings are bleh - the chocolate custard filling in the taiyaki at Nijiya is better, and is a chocolate-flavored custard, rather than chocolate sauce and plain custard just next to each other, which is totally not what we were expecting. They have a taiyaki-shaped hat you can take pictures of yourself wearing, but I don't want to risk getting lice. The Okinawa organic black milk with Okinawa black sugar boba was good but way too sweet. If I were to get this again I would ask for it with 0% sweet added (the boba will add plenty enough sweetness to it). I don't understand why the "kawaii" (cute) size is larger than the large. "Bigger than large" doesn't sound very cute to me. It should be Kawaii - Regular - Large - Sumo - OD. I really want to give this place a good rating but I just can't. The service is horrible, I understand it gets tiring answering the same questions everyday but do the cashiers know that when they are rude they give customers a bad day? I was asking questions about the milk tea and the girl answered dry and unfriendly. I asked for a house green red bean milk tea with no ice. She made the drink and added the ice. When I reminded her as she handed it to me, she rolled her eyes and took it back. I asked no ice because I'm visiting and want to take it back to las Vegas. I also ordered taiyaki and waited 15 mins after I got my drink which in total was 20 mins just to be told they ran out of batter and can't give me taiyaki. Batter doesn't take long to make but apparently they wouldn't have any until later that night.... I always hype this place in las vegas wishing we could have something as good. SUMO size me please! I must say, their drinks are pretty good (as described below). Their boba, not so much. It doesn't have the fresh, soft and chewy taste that I love so much but it's not terrible either. SUMO sized drinks I've tried (w/ boba): $4.50 (+$0.50) Almond Milk: 3.5 stars No strong almond flavor but it does the job. Mint Milk: 3.5 stars Nothing amazing. Just milk tea with a minty taste Wintermelon Milk: 4 stars Delicious. Can be a bit on the sweet side so i suggest you get something else if you aren't craving the sugar. Rose Milk: 4.5 stars It is lightly sweetened with pieces of flower petals inside. Best rose milk tea i've tried so far. Honeydew Milk: 4 stars Just enough honeydew flavor with a great balance of milk. yummy. House Milk: 3.5 stars Nothing amazing. Just okay. Teas: Lychee Green Tea w/ 50% sugar: 4 stars Pretty good. It comes with little pieces of lychee so no boba is needed. Saved 50 cents! lol UPSIDE: I can drink half of this a save the other half for later. It's like two for the price of one! Free samples. LOTS of variety. Sumo size comes with tattoo too! They have electronic stamp cards now and they can even text you your receipt! Pretty cool. DOWNSIDE: They TAKE THEIR PRECIOUS TIME (~15 min/ sometimes more in a non crowded setting) making their drinks. It's no problem when I'm looking for a place to chill with friends but sometimes I kind of like a grab and go type of boba place. So typically, I come when I'm in no rush. I'd come back though. I haven't been back to Oko in a while due to the wait time. Came back for Sakura honey green tea and was told they can only make what's on the menu, which is Sakura honey green milk tea. Waitress went on and explained they use real green tea to steep the tea and make milk tea out of it. I asked if I can have Sakura honey green tea without milk, and was denied, she said that's not on the menu... it's really just the drink on the menu without adding milk at the end, but nope, they won't make it. She even went to the back to ask the boss, and was denied. I ended up ordering the Sakura honey green milk tea, but It doesn't taste the same with milk and that was over $5 after taxes. There are Taiwanese boba spots and Vietnamese boba spots but this is a Japanese boba spot. If you have trouble distinguishing it look around and check out all the Sumo wrestler cut outs. One doesn't come across Japanese boba very often. Go with the Okinawa milk tea, with Okinawa black sugar boba and some Hokkaido milk foam. Over the top caramel, mollassy, sweetness. Japan in a tea drink. Overly sweet diabetic status but if you are in the mood for sugar this is how to do it at the Oko cafe. There have been several people who have recommended Oko Cafe and they swear that it is the absolute best boba spot. Unfortunately my experience was far from it. When i first arrived, I noticed how there was plenty of free parking in a large parking lot. Walking up to the cafe, there was a long line that reached to the end of the door. Apparently that's typical since "it's that good." At this point, I believed this place must actually be really good since it's insanely packed with customers. Anyways, there was a menu with various of options posted by the door. I decided to try the matcha green milk tea with okinawa boba. I was so convinced how this place was going to be as amazing as my friends claimed so I decided to order the largest size they offered, the sumo size. OH MAN, did i regret it. I was also with three other people which they had ordered something completely different from mine. We all received our drinks in a timely manner (no more than 5 mins of waiting) even though they were crazy busy. I was insanely excited to finally try it. As i took my first sip, disappointment struck me. It was overwhelmingly sweet. I couldn't handle it. I asked the cashier if it was possible to make my drink less sweet. With no hesitation, they were happy to alter it. Within a few minutes, I got my drink back. This time, I was so sure it would be better. Yet again, the drink was a complete fail. I barely drank 1/4 of it and couldn't force down anymore. With the drinks my friends ordered, 2/3 drinks were also left to throw away. They informed me that it usually tastes amazing, just not this time. I don't know if the workers at oko cafe were having an off day but maybe sometime in the future ill give it another shot. Love this place! I've been to several boba places and none of them are as good as this one. Their boba is always fresh and they have regular honey boba and Okinawa boba (black sugar boba) which is delicious! Kind of has like a coffee taste to it. You have to try it! And the drinks are very good as well. At other places I feel like they water down their milk based drinks too much but here it's just perfect. I recommend the Coconut, Coffee, and Vanilla smoothie mixed together with Okinawa boba. That's my mix but you can mix up any 3 flavors or 2 or just one flavor if that's what you prefer. I've been to this place many times. The quality of the boba is pretty good for it's price. They have many flavors & a diverse range of boba you can try. Parking is pretty easy to find here. The workers are always pretty nice! Their food is filled with a lot of unique choices. I'm the type of person who's not one for super unordinary food so I wouldn't go to Oko just to get food. It's a very loud atmosphere. I would not recommend going here to study. The first time I came in here, I was excited because it honestly looked cool and their menu impressed me. I went in to order some of their food and the cashier told me, "Oh.... sorry, we're not serving food right now." Uh... all right? I left and went to Tea Station instead. The second time I went in there, they were definitely serving food. I saw that they had a sign advertising several different flavors of taiyaki--chocolate, red bean, banana custard, egg custard, so much! I've been sad ever since that takoyaki place at Mitsuwa stopped selling custard taiyaki, so I excitedly stood in line to order some custard taiyaki. When I get there, the cashier tells me, "Oh... sorry, we only sell taiyaki on Friday and Saturday nights." :T The rest of my friends ended up ordering drinks, which were okay. I won't try coming here anymore simply because, at any moment, anything they advertise will just not be on the menu or served that day. They really should indicate when we can order certain items. The Sumo size boba concept as well as the decor is pretty awesome, but they really fall apart in their execution/management. There's a lot of people working behind the counter but I don't think any of them were properly trained...the girl ringing me up didn't understand what I meant by the foursquare check-in special (even though there was a sign posted at the cash register for both the customer and employee to refer to) and she didn't know what they actually had on hand that day. In addition to that, it took more than one person to make my drink (which took quite a while to make) because they had issues locating the different ingredients. Finally, as I was waiting for my drink, I realized how dirty the place was. There was trash everywhere and even though the manager walked through the restaurant (I think he went on break) he didn't notice/mention the mess to any of the employees/take care of it himself. Kind of a turn off. I understand now why one yelper got food poisoning from this place. Hopefully they'll improve because the drink itself wasn't half bad. After such a bad dining experience, I felt compelled to open a Yelp account just to share a review of Teppan 360. Don't go here unless you don't mind waiting over an hour for your food to come. My baseball teammates and I decided to try this place out after finding that Akanechaya was closed for the week. BIG MISTAKE. What we thought would be a quick meal turned out to be one of those rare 'holy crap this is taking forever' experiences. We actually lost one of our members to old age while we waited for our food to come (his funeral is tomorrow). Another EPIC FAIL that needs to be mentioned was the sauce I ordered with my pork dish came out 20 minutes after the food was brought, and about 5 minutes after I finished eating it. WTF? The food was actually alright, but the huge amount of suck we experienced here outweighed whatever small positives there were. First time, last time. And no, they were NOT under-staffed for the day. I really like the set up and the chill atmosphere of Oko Cafe. I really wish I can give it more stars, but not for the drink that I got. I went here and got the basic, mango black tea. It didn't really taste like mango at all. It reminded me of drinking iced water. On the other hand I do like most of the other drinks and the smoothies. So just don't get the mango black tea!! They either need to hire some smart, fast workers or they need to have at least 4-5 people working rather than 2 girls that are taking forever!!!
