We were leaving Five Below when my son spotted Sky Boba Cafe, thinking we can get drinks there. Lucky boy... SBC is a boba shop & they also serve snacks. I rarely browse the businesses on the other side of the island since my kids have outgrown Carter's. The shop is especially bright due to the expansive windows, & the lobby/dining area is spacious with plenty of tables & chairs to hang out & enjoy your sips. You have the option of ordering at the counter or using the kiosk off to the right. Their menu lacks descriptions so I needed some clarification (i.e. jasmine splash since you can combine 2 flavors, creamy slush vs. fruit tea slush). I ended picking 1 of their top 10 drinks: Strawberry Matcha & M chose the Signature Fruit Tea. There was a couple ahead of us so our drinks came pretty fast. The Strawberry Matcha was vibrant & beautifully layered. It tasted pretty good, though the matcha could have been blended better. It was a l'il grainy & I didn't care for the taste of the milk though. I believe they used whole milk? I might be biased with drinking Stonyfield Organic & A2 milks. M liked Signature Fruit Tea, but didn't make any other comments; I'm guessing he'll come back if we're conveniently at the Torrance Promenade. Sky Boba Cafe was originally located in Bellflower before moving to Torrance in Summer 2025. The boba in the South Bay has a lot of heavy hitters so the field is tough, & they're on the pricier side for the amount of drink. They'll like get a decent amount of foot traffic from patrons at neighboring Five Below & Trader Joe's. I recently spotted them on the TooGoodToGo app, but they keep selling out so I'm not sure if it's a worthwhile deal. They also dropped a cup sticker on the floor, picked it up and stuck it on the cup, then proceeded to stack that cup inside the other cup (the floor sticker touch the inside of another cup). They also leave the milk out on the counter uncapped. Ew I also saw them use their fingers to wipe some of the brown sugar spillage off a cup. Awkward uncomfortable ordering process. Felt rushed. And then after I asked if they used a nondairy milk for the jasmine milk tea (said yes) and about another drink (said they use flavor powder)... he said, " I'm the owner." Uhhh ok??? Going from register to food handling, they didn't wash their hands. I saw them drop a straw when handing to a customer and ignoring it. Idk it seems like there's no system in place right now. I'm just really confused... did anyone get their food handlers license? They were really hyper focused and if a customer said thank you after receiving a drink, it was ignored. There were lots of other minute details. Like mixing spoons on the counter. Touching the spoon head with their hands. Strawberry on the menu missing a y. Crooked lettering on the wall. We were in the Torrance Promenade Plaza and noticed the new boba shop. We came into the store due to the "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" promotion. Ambiance: 5/5 - The menu is on a mirror surface so it was a bit difficult to read but there were printed menus on the counter. There is a tablet that you can make your order through so very helpful when it gets busy especially since there was only one person running the shop. We ask what the "velvet milk tea" is but it's just naming with no difference from milk teas. The shop itself seems cozy with a few tables to sit at and is very clean. Service: 5/5 - Friendly but blunt. When we asked for a no ice version he stated it's not sustainable. He was happy to provide the drink with no ice but same amount of tea though. Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - they were out of the cream cap jasmine tea so we got a regular Jasmine Tea with no ice, a Brown Sugar Milk Tea with boba, and an Original Milk Tea with boba. The teas were decent but it tasted a bit more syrupy and the boba wasn't the best. Value for price: 2/5 - at Buy 2 Get 1, it was great deal at $14 for 3 drinks. However, once the worker found out we had Yelp, he asked for our number and sent us a message to post as our review. "I've been here a few times already and it never disappoints. Everything tastes fresh, and the place is clean and cozy. You can tell they care about quality. Highly recommend!" The curated message makes us doubt any other 5 star reviews that are vague. I saw an ad for Sky Boba Cafe and a buy 1, get 1 free ad on instagram for this past weekend. I'm always up for checking out new boba spots and so when so when I saw the ad, I knew I wanted to visit. Sky Boba Cafe is right next to Carter's Baby and across from Trader Joe's in Hawthorne Blvd. It's a fairly small spot they do have a variety of seating inside from couches to wooden chairs. Before placing my order, I asked the boba barista (who I realized later was the owner) if they still had their buy 1, get 1 deal. He did seem a bit stressed and overwhelmed and told me not anymore (despite the instagram page saying it was for the whole weekend). He explained his employee called in sick and he was the only one there. He did say however that if I wanted a milk tea, he would go ahead and honor the deal. Honestly I was going to get the Earth Taro with Boba drink with taro paste but since he mentioned he would only do the Taro Milk Tea, I went with that. I felt bad he looked stressed and I could tell he was at least trying to make me as a customer happy. He even said he wanted to make me a better drink but since he was by himself, this was all he could do. The Taro Milk Tea ended up being a great drink! I loved the taro flavoring. The drink had just the right amount of sweetness. The boba was soft and chewy. It was one good boba drink! I appreciate the owner doing his best and the Taro Milk Tea ended up being a pleasant surprise. It's located in the Torrance Promenade strip mall, across from Trader Joe's, next to a photo place. So unassuming outside, really cute inside. I brought mom with me to take advantage of the deal. Like many other people I had a bad experience with the owner, who was very rude and misleading about the prices of his items and deals. We visited this location twice, and really wanted to make it our every day boba spot since it's local but I would not recommend this business. First visit we bought 4 drinks and I paid in cash and I tipped, but wasn't given any change for my purchase. Since it was under 50cents I didn't think much of it. Upon exiting the building though we noticed the promo sign for "Buy 2 drinks get 1 free" and were a little disappointed the person never mentioned this to us, but the drinks were good and we blamed ourselves for not noticing. Second visit we only ordered 2 drinks, but noticed the pricing of the same drinks were significantly higher than when we visited the week before. Because there are no listed prices for the drinks anywhere in the store (red flag) we couldn't compare the old prices, so we checked them against DoorDash, where they were significantly cheaper. We didn't want to say anything, but approached the man at the counter and pointed out the price difference and asked him if we were mistaken. His demeanor changed and he was speaking very fast in a defensive manner arguing with us about the prices of matcha, speaking over my family member and becoming aggressive saying he's the owner and he "creates all these drinks himself" (they are pretty standard style of drinks offered all around Los Angeles...) At this point I mentioned how when we last visited we were not offered the promo deal advertised outside, and the man started ranting to us about how he's the owner and only one there and so busy. At this point we just decided to leave, we didn't feel like being yelled at for asking a question. It was incredibly dismissive especially since when we last visited, the shop was EMPTY with no customers and he had another worker make the drinks while he sat on his stool. Like another customer commented, the interaction ruined our day and to see the owner arguing with people trying to give feedback to him is sad. This place has potential but I will never come back, save your money and support another place that is transparent about their prices and knows what customer service means. read more

This is a nice little Boba café. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The drinks are very large so you get your moneys worth. Their matcha strawberry latte is beautiful as it is well balanced. I also recommend the Thai tea. It tastes authentic and not too sweet. Can't wait to come back to try their other drinks. I heard that they might have coffee in the future.
