Owner admitted that an inspection was not done even though the repair order/invoice directly states it. He insinuated it was my fault because I didn't allow the shop to perform it. When a car is ready & the customer picks up their car. I would logically assume all the work is completed, including the inspection. 3. Lastly, the owner's attitude on the phone conversation was not professional ( insinuating I was part of the problem). Lesson learned: always confirm that the auto shop that you do business will do the work & not contract to another shop.

Not only do I have a foreign car, I have a solid affection for MINI Coopers and all of the quirks that come with owning a German made British roller skate with a motor. I had come here for routine oil changes prior to the pandemic, but the shop got a little full during shut down and it was hard to get a time that worked for me. Anyway.... when my panoramic sunroof got stuck, open, naturally, this week, I called the dealer and they couldn't offer a loaner car until May (!!) and couldn't make any guarantees as to when they could even get the car into the garage after I dropped it off. So, next option - Tom Hatem. RIck also said I'd have to drop the car off, but it was "because I've got a couple of cars in the shop and I don't want you to have to wait around all day," plus, he was confident that if they couldn't fix the sunroof, they could at least render my vehicle water tight before the rain, so off we went. His best guess was 30 minutes of work, but they ended up needing an hour. Rick did the usual great job of explaining what the problem was and how they fixed it. He had the car ready by the following morning, by disconnecting the motor to the sunroof after he had to take the roof off to reset it manually. Either way, I was pleased not to be rained on. Paid for the labor and he gave me a nice write up on what they did, in case I want to have the roof repaired in the future. and off we went. I will head back over there first the next time I need something.

Anyways I found this place after a few recommendations came to go to them after some problems a few others couldn't manage or weren't willing too. Tom Hatem has always been good to me. As bad as this will sound I know the gentlemen at the counter quite well. I have been a long time customer since the inception of owning my 'Ultimate Driving Machine'. Some of that has been love and hate, but Tom Hatem has always had me back on the road. They also back their work! That is something that brings me back as some will not offer such a warranty or piece of mind to their customers. If you ever find yourself needing an automotive shop for German cars (more so BMW experts) I recommend them highly. They also work on Audi, Porsche, VW, although BMW is their specialty!

On March 30th, I took the car to Cheeseman's after AAA had told me that I had a bad pulley. I asked that the pulley be repaired, and also asked that the brakes be checked, as I had heard them grinding. Later the same day, I was told that my AC compressor had to be replaced, and that all the brakes were fine except that the front ones would need to be replaced fairly soon. I opted to just have the compressor repaired at this time. When I drove the car that evening, I still heard the back brakes grinding, smoke coming from the engine, and the turn signals and hazard lights were no longer working properly. I thought about taking the car back to Cheeseman's, but before I got a chance, they called me and told me that they had forgotten to charge the AC compressor, and asked that I bring my car back in so they could do that. I agreed, and dropped my car off first thing this morning. A short time later, I returned their call to learn that the AC condenser needed to be replaced. I was also told that the back brake shoes and drums had to be replaced. I found this odd as I was told the day before that there was no problem with the back brakes. I had also asked that the relay switch for the turn signals and hazard lights be checked, but I'm not sure if that was even done. They asked for another $750 to fix the condenser and $450 to repair the back brakes, after I had already paid $1100. When I first took the car in, I had asked them initially to let me know what the full cost of repair was going to be, as I wanted to make a decision as to whether or not it was worth it to have such an old car repaired. If I had known that the back brakes needed to be repaired, I would have had them do that the first time I took the car in, but the lady I spoke with on the phone assured me several times the brakes were fine and that the grinding noise was probably due to dust and debris buildup. Not only am I very disappointed that my car is not repaired, the turn signals and hazard lights no longer function properly and I can't even drive it because of the brakes. I feel pretty stupid and embarrassed for trusting Cheesman's with my car, and was literally holding back tears when I went to retrieve it. They had had great reviews and recommendations on my neighborhood Facebook page. I will be taking my car to another shop to have my car properly repaired, as well as to check the work done by Cheeseman's. Honestly, if I had known that the total repairs would be well over $2000, I prwould have started purchasing another car instead.

I searched the internet looking for reviews and saw that these guys were highly recommended. I called Best Motor Werks, spoke to Rufus and explained what I was looking for. Told him that I had fallen behind on a lot of regular maintenance items plus the fact that the E46 M3 has the "Big Three" issues (Vanos, Rod Bearings and Subframe Cracks), and wanted the car checked out. Rufus is a real "car guy". He knows his business very well plus he's a real enthusiast. That makes a difference when you own a car like an M. He "gets" the fact that we LOVE our cars. I dropped the car off and told him that he could keep it for a while as it is not my daily driver. I asked for a complete multipoint inspection and a coolant change as it had never been done in the 11 years I owned it. The technician gave the car a thorough inspection and came up with a list of things that should be addressed as well as assigned a number from 1-10 in terms of how soon these items should be addressed. Rufus went over everything on the list one by one and answered any questions I had. There was no pressure to fix everything at once like you might get from a dealer. Since I only put less that 5000 miles a year on the car, there were things that could possibly be addressed next year. The owner John is great, honest and professional. As I mentioned earlier, Rufus is a true "car guy" and understands the love we have for our cars. I will definitely be using Best Motor Werks for all my BMW repairs and maintenance.
