Absolutely loving the new Location on Liberty Street. It's now adjacent to my other favorite places (Dogebeans, Bandido, and Falls City). Just attended the grand reopening at the new location recently. They were in the process of moving when the pandemic hit and I had lost all hope the tasting room would never open again. The old location on 10th street was bigger than current location. It's smaller but long on the inside best way to describe it. So as I'm attending the grand reopening, it was later in the evening beings I was going to see a Band Play at Falls City for their Birthday Bash, so the place was still somewhat hopping. I think everyone else there had quite a bit to drink as well so they had to been there awhile. Staff behind the bar was friendly and greeted me promptly as I walked up to the bar. They didn't have any seating at the bar which was odd, everyone that was at the bar was standing. I asked what flavor slushy they had because I saw 2 of them. I was told one was the Singria and the other Kentucky White Lady, one of them suggested I mix them and that's exactly what I did. I stood at the bar and sipped on my slushy. I even walked the small space and saw they have candles scented like the wine but only had 2 different ones. They have more merch now than before. In conclusion, I'm very impressed with the new setting and having the opportunity to reopen. I hope they will host the Kickoff Party For Louisville Pizza Week this year, that's what got me to go their old tasting room. I've missed them having that party last 2 years. Thanks Covid. They also have their wine cheese available too and I wanted to get the Goat Cheese that's absolutely delicious however I was going to the Birthday Bash at their neighbors (Falls City) and didn't want to carry it around or sit in my car. I've recently gone to the new location for their Wednesday deal of half off bottles. I love the new space next to Falls City. The past few weeks have been gorgeous so sitting with the garage doors open has been amazing. Mallory has also been absolutely amazing with her service. She is a gem and I love that she remembers people from week to week. They have live music on Wednesday's and both bands so far have been great. They have charcuterie boards for purchase and you can also have food delivered. The half off bottle deal is too good to pass up and I'll be stopping in on Wednesdays more frequently for a mid-week treat! read more

This is such a cute winery! My girls and I loved coming here so much that I had to leave a review! The After Choc was my favorite to try. It was very rich but the chocolate flavor didn't take over the fact that its wine! The best dessert in a glass. The service was good very knowledgeable of the wines and they answered most of our questions if they didn't know they'd find out. We were staying in Louisville for the day. We stopped here to try this winery out. At first I thought the tasting was free but they were not. Maybe $6 for 6 tastings. All of the wine that we tried was good. You sat down where you wanted, provided a list of wines and chose what you wanted to sample. The young man was so nice, validated what you had and poured the wine. He would tell you about the wine, where it originated from etc; We shared a glass of wine each. We purchased several bottles to go. Loved the winery. Prices were reasonable. He said they been in existence for 10 years and only been at this location since April. I came here for an event on 12/18 to celebrate a new journey with a company called MIG - Mighty in good. An all organic, chemical-free skincare line. The founder Jamie came in town from Colorado and we had a large group of people come out for this event. The venue was absolutely beautiful, decorated so nicely. There were a couple bartenders that did a great job serving everyone their cocktails. Such a beautiful establishment and would be perfect for such events. This was the last winery of my birthday tour, and while we enjoyed the wine, the stop was the least enjoyable. One sister did not have an ID with her and the establishment refused to let her taste even though she was obviously over 21. I understand places have rules, but nothing I saw on their website or elsewhere indicated an ID was a requirement so it was a rude surprise. The next disappointment came when another employee started work in the middle of the tasting and wanted us to pay before we were finished. After having so much fun with the employees at the earlier tastings, the employees here were quite rude. Upon reading other reviews after posting this, it appears several people have experienced rude employees here. Wish I had read these reviews before going! Because I like the wines, I won't quit buying them, but I will not return to this tasting room unless I hear they hire employees who are more friendly and hospitable! read more

I was anxious to try this urban wine-tasting venue I found only one of the wines to my liking, the Bourbon Barrel Red. Despite this, I highly recommend everyone try the wines for themselves, as palates vary! The space is unique with a heavy urban ambiance. There is plenty of seating and the staff provided very attentive service. The wine is priced very reasonably and we took a couple of bottles of the Bourbon Barrel Red home. There are some wine-themed t-shirts and other items for purchase too. I can see this being a fun place to hang with some wine-loving friends. read more

Old 502 Winery is such a cool experience. For people coming to visit or for people who live here, I urge you to visit! Not only do they have wine tastings (obviously), they also offer beer flights! The wine tasting includes 6 choices for $8! WHAT A GOOD DEAL. The pours are not your average tiny pours, so it is worth it if you've never tried 502 wines! Now that it has become just a tasting room, they no longer have a full menu. They do however offer a meat and cheese tray as well as popcorn. Not the best choices, but it's something! The space is large and open so it's nice for groups and a fun day out! That being said, they definitely need to have more workers staffed. It took a while to get through the tasting because they only had one woman working the entire floor. As you may have heard from last review, I don't like wine. I like alcohol, and if need be I will drink a glass. But I will be incredibly awkward and clumsy while drinking it. I definitely will not be the subject of any Target pop artwork anytime soon. My friend and I came down to Louisville to drink bourbon but there's a slight problem - neither of us are bourbon drinkers. We convinced ourselves that would not deter us but when we actually arrived in town, we couldn't contain our apathetic ness toward visiting different distilleries. I then offered up going to wine bars because I try to be a good friend and I wanted her to be happy. We then Yelped, found 502, and went on her merry way. Old 502 is located next to the western border of downtown one what looks to be an up and coming area. The building where they make the wine is hooked up to the part where you can go in and try said wine. We walked into an industrial, spacious room that had been renovated to be cozy and inviting. There's a lot of space here and plenty of seating so that's a plus for large groups. The bar itself isn't overly big and was full. We ended up taking a seat at one of the large bar tables next to the wine making action. Our server came over quickly and was very candid on her favorite wines on the list. She asked if we were going to be doing a wine flight. For $8/6wines, you can bet your ass I'm doing a wine flight! I went for the sweeter options as I'm a low key pussy about wine, while my friend went for the more refined drier options because she's an elegant woman. I throughly enjoyed nearly every option that was given to me. They pour heavy for a taste so I may have just been tipsy by the end of it all. My personal favorite was Bach's wine. Keep in mind that I am not at all a wine connoisseur. Therefore, I enjoyed the option that was more closely associated to Welch's grape juice. There seemed to be many options for the more cultured palettes so it's a super cool place that'll cater to any need. I would definitely come back here. I even ended up buying a bottle of Bach's wine to take back home to Cinci. There's something for everyone and it looks like they sell charcuterie plates now too! LOVE this little quaint winery just outside the heart of downtown Louisville. They have a great selection of wine for any pallet as well as draft beer if wine isn't your thing. Ample and various styles of seating to fit your group or mood. They have cheese and meat trays to enjoy as well. My husband did a wine tasting and I just went straight for a glass of the Kentucky Lady. Great sweet wine but not overly sweet. Super friendly staff and not overbearing like some places where they hover until you're ready for the next wine on your list. They give you time to enjoy what you currently have in your glass. I stopped in here for the first time (how....HOW was it my first time?!) after already having visited/toured/tasted at Kentucky Peerless. My friend and I decided to keep the tastings flowing since Old 502 is basically just across the street! We walked in and a tasting was already in process, so we had to wait a few minutes. But it is a small tasting room. I would say standing room for 8-10 people comfortably, so I can see how a few small groups coming in at staggered times could overwhelm a single worker. And there was only one person running the tasting and shop. Turns out, I know the person who was running our tasting! Hi Jessica V! She explained the tasting options and pricing. We made our choices (I like sweet whites, my friend likes dry reds), Jessica filled our glasses, and we got to sipping. She worked well, juggling the two tasting groups, and giving us information about the wines we had chosen. My friend and I decided that we were only just beginning our evening and Jessica recommended that we stop in next door at Over the 9 to get either a cocktail or have a flight of Fall City Beer (....we got both....) and also refuel. Great change of pace. I'm not a huge bourbon fan but certainly did stop at a few Distilleries. This winery was a nice treat since I drink wine. I was able to break things up a bit with a wine tasting. Great atmosphere, friendly service and outstanding wine. If you love sweet wine they have multiple options for you. We did a wine tasting with reds and whites. I loved the SINgria and the Rose. I love the decor it's very trendy. You can play board games, sit and chat or sit at the bar. There was no tour which was ok. They're building a new location so I'd you want a tour I'm sure they'll offer that at the new space. I love the face that you can purchase their wine throughout Kentucky and Indiana. We bought so much wine there was a discount which is ok with me. I came here for a private event which included a tour and tasting. I don't know about wine, I want to learn to appreciate it and would love a class on how to appreciate wine. My grandparents had vineyards, one would think that I may have picked up something from that but alas I was young and dumb. I enjoyed the wine, I enjoyed the tasting, I enjoyed that the people proctoring our tasting were able to answer our questions - someone in my group is a lot smarter than I am and had great questions. The tour was also nice, it was different than I am used to. Old 502 doesn't grow their own grapes so their process was different than I am used to. The tour guide was the best part because he was able to confidently answer every question with knowledge and passion. It was really hot in parts of the tour and I want to remind everyone that questions are for cold rooms. No one wants to linger in a hot storage room. My head's up to you, dear Yelper, is that parking is on the street. I didn't see private parking or parking that would be included so bring your quarters for the meter. read more

Went to a wine tasting at this facility last week. It is easy to get to (right up against the 64-interstate). We sampled 5 wines and I found only one to be truly palatable; the bourbon barrel red (purchased 2 bottles). The tasting room is spacious and has that 1920's rustic feel. The tour of the bottling facility left a bit to be desired; to begin with the heat and humidity of the rooms was a bit much considering the hot summer weather. I also thought the facility could use some improvement to its upkeep. Definitely a lack of modernization with regards to its decor. It reminded me of 'home brewing' in a rather run-down garage. It would be worth it when the wine tastings are buy one get one free especially since there aren't many wineries in Louisville proper. read more

The wine is drinkable, some good some less good... Nothing bad. Most of them were true to the expectations of the varietal. They had a couple barrel aged options which is a cool novelty in the Louisville area. They have a great space with lots of seating. There is not much food available. They offered a charcuterie board and popcorn. We were interested in the popcorn but never got it. Will i be back? I wouldn't avoid it, but not seeking it out specifically for my next Louisville visit. If you end up here it's not bad... I've been to Old 502 Winery for special events but not for a wine tasting. It's not a super large space but they had a nice size bar and seating. I had scheduled group tasting in advance so they were already setup and ready when we got there. Laid out in each place setting was a menu with variety of wine selections, glass bottles of water and wine glasses. For an $8 tasting you get to select 6 types of wine to taste. The guy helping us was really good and memorized each of our selections without having to give him our wine sheets. Food was not included in this tasting but they do have small bites available such as popcorn, charcuterie tray, chocolate, etc. for an additional cost. We ordered a few items and drank away. The guy didn't explain each of the wines, he just served and was available when needed. The atmosphere is nice. This is a great place for large groups. However, The parking is not the best. They only have street parking. The would be my only complaint. read more

Our group came out to do a tasting on Sunday. The set up is nice with a bar, high top tables and lower tables. This is a great group outing if you are looking for something to accommodate quite a few guests. There were 20 of us in our party and Melissa kept the various wines coming right on time. The bottle prices were also reasonable should you opt to go that route. There was a separate area with couches that looked inviting. It may be for private events but I didn't enquire. The winery had options of dry to sweet wines and you can opt for more of one then the other. They have crackers and cheese but no menu for food. I'd suggest bringing some chips of your own to eat in between tastings. The majority of the group loved the Bach's wine and that was the one we got bottles of after tasting. Really nice open floor plan. Bathrooms were nice and clean as well. If they had food this would be a five star. read more

The service from the server was good, she was pleasant and professional. The location: felt less than safe to walk around, the seating:less than comfortable, the ability to enjoy food with wine: not available at winery and extremely limited opportunity to order from next door bar. Wine was decent but nothing special. Realize you will need walk outside and over to the bar to pick up your sub par food at Falls City. I hope this review can be taken and made useful by the owners. I had really high hopes for 502 winery, but it was just okay in my opinion. So I want to start with the good. The service was amazing. There was one girl working (I wish I could remember her name), and she was awesome. She greeted us right away and gave us the tasting menus. We picked out the ones we wanted to try and she started to pour. As we tried our samples we noticed an area with games. We played with the oversized deck of cards and had a blast. 502 winery is a very beautiful place. It has a very nice warm inviting feel to it. I liked the wood tables and the lighting was very nice. So the negatives, in addition to our wine samples we ordered some water. About halfway through we noticed something floating. It looked like part of a wine label maybe. We ordered another and the same thing and another and once again the same thing. It's like the ice had paper in it or something and it was very unappealing. The wines were also just okay. My husband and I found only one that we both really liked and we even bought a bottle of it. I guess I was most disappointed in the fact that there wasn't any wines that completely wowed me and I can get over three cups of "dirty" water. Overall it was a good experience. The inside is just absolutely beautiful and an area where you can pick out games was big plus. I could see this place being really good for a small group to hang out, chat, play games and drink some wine. As I mentioned there wasn't any wine that I felt over the top about, but if wine isn't your thing they do have some beer on draft too. They do not do beer samples like they do with the wine, but there was a fairly good selection to choose from. Such a fun urban winery! My friend and I met here to do a wine tasting for $8 where we got to choose 6 of their 10 wines! They have wine that ranges from sweet whites to dry reds, and some delicious bourbon barrel wines! After tasting some, we decided to split a bottle of the Bourbon Barrel Red and get some popcorn to snack on. The bartenders were super friendly and conversational and they definitely made our experience better!
