I could not decide which potato side I should try. The man serving told me to try one, make the other my choice. Both are Great! The portions of meat selections are enormous. The gentleman in front of me was a proud Yankee (he told me so) who was a wimp when it comes to hot food. He chose the regular sausage. I chose the jalapeno type. Want to bet mine was better?! Pinto beans are as good as homemade. All in all, let me say I brought 1/2 of my meal home. You need to try their brisket. It is moist, tender and has great flavor. We ordered 1-1/2 lbs of sliced bricket this evening. It was the worst brisket we have ever eaten. It had zero flavor and the sauce that came with the order was not much better. It had a terrible after taste. The take out container was full of grease - YUCK! I could have cooked a rump roast in my crockpot and sliced it up and put bottle sauce on it and it would have been much better. Will NOT ever go back. This is a great little barbeque place! I stopped in for a quick lunch, they have a $5.99 lunch special for one meat plus one side item. I chose a pulled pork sandwich. The sauce comes on the side, and it was delicious! They have lots to choose from: beef, ribs, pork, ham, sausage, chicken, turkey, plus lots of sides like beans, corn, rice, cheesy or mashed potatoes, green beans, mac and cheese, onion rings, okra or fries. They also offer cold sides, like pudding, cole slaw, salad, or fruits. There was a lot to choose from and everything looked tasty! My sandwich was yummy, although the bun got squished and fell apart, typical of messy barbeque. Staff was friendly and the eat-in area of the restaurant looked nice, too. Best mashed potatoes I've had in my life. You read that right. On top of that, the staff is very welcoming, the atmosphere is exactly what you want for a small Texas BBQ joint, the meat is wonderful, and you can top it off with one of three BBQ sauces. I was genuinely pleased with this place. As soon as we got out of the car, the smelled of smoked meat made its way to your nose. It's really a great smell. The restaurant is actually very small when you walk in and it seems a bit crowded right by the front door, just because there's so much going on right there. Once you actually go to sit, things seem a but more spaced out. They have a refrigerator with canned drinks for the to-go orders with a rack of chips next to it. The menu is like any typical BBQ joint. I got a turkey plate with green beans and macaroni. The noodles in the macaroni were too soft in my opinion, but the rest of the food was great! The turkey was especially exceptional- juicy and not at all dry or flavorless. The BBQ sauce was pretty amazing too. When you done in, they have a small condiments bar where you get your sandwich toppings, plastic-ware, sauces, and, if you're dining in, free rolls. They're pretty good, nothing special and not too much flavor, but fluffy and warm. I'd definitely come here again! read more

Went there for dinner tonight because we received coupon in the mail. :) This is probably the best bbq I had in this area, beats all the chains anytime. Meats are super tender and flavorful. The sauces are on the runny and vinegary side. They have variety of meat; pulled pork, brisket, sausages, ribs, and many other side dishes. We had 2 meat ($8.99) and 3 meat ($9.99) combos. The portion is pretty generous and you scoop your own side if dine in!! They are plenty of sides to choose from including green beans, baked beans, corn on the cob, mac and cheese, veggie salads, etc. I didn't try their breads so I have nothing to report. Dining area is spacious and clean. The guys are very friendly as well. It's worth checking it out. read more

Old House BBQ has that special "hole in the wall" vibe that has their smokers conveniently placed outside in view to entice customers. The smell of the food outside was amazing, but the food was itself was overpriced and bland in taste. For two brisket sandwiches, four ribs, four small sides, a slice of lemon meringue pie, and a can of Dr. Pepper, the final price was over $31. While this may seem somewhat reasonable, the four (quarter rack) ribs were $10 alone. However, with the buffet style sides you could portion your sides to your liking. Their bbq is overly dry and chewy. We picked up a plate of sliced beef and pork ribs around 7pm. Very disappointing! Whoever cooks, they are doing it to pay the bills kinda taste. Horrible. Food was flavorless and dry. Worst part was how dirty the restaurant appeared. 2 inches of crystallization coming out of the soda fountain nozzle. The BBQ is so good that my husband brought me there for the first time today from Grapevine. He had the chopped beef sandwich and I had quesadillas. Both were delicious and we loved the sauce with a little kick! The best part was Jose the owner. My wedding ring must have dropped in the parking lot and we called 7 hours later to see if it was there. He went out to look for it and found it! What a waste of time and money! Went there today for lunch. This place is truly a disgrace to Texas BBQ. I'm a Louisiana transplant living in California and I can honestly say I have had better bbq in California from people who don't know how to bbq. Paper thin, dry slices of Brisket that tasted baked with no smoke flavor or seasoning. The ribs had a smoke ring but were not up to minimum standards. The sides are a whole other set of problems. HORRIBLE!!! The Mac and cheese seemed to be made with Velveeta. Yes, Velveeta! Imagine the time it took to boil noodles and smother them in Velveeta cheese sauce. Smell delicious yet? Not even. The Garlic potatoes might have been good if they weren't ice cold even though they were under the heat lamp. Not to mention I suspect, Velveeta was in play! The Best part of the meal was the free ice cream, or should I say frozen ice milk. The rolls were very good, not sure if they were Baked on site but they were free, unless we're getting a To-Go order. Too bad I'm not Yelping about a Bakery instead of a BBQ joint! I want my money back, but just going back in there is not worth the drive. Chalk it up to experience. I feel like finding a good Restaurant is like playing Poker. I don't usually leave reviews unless I had an awesome experience or really bad experience. Went here yesterday for lunch and it was awful all the meat was extremely dry and all the sides were really blend. The hole restaurant was dirty tables and chairs were half broken, worst of all the customer service was horrible as I was filling up my sons ice cream cone chocolate syrup from on top of the machine landed on top of me hitting my arm and splattering chocolate all over my clothes one of the cashiers just picked it up and walked off without saying anything... worst BBQ place ever! read more

I love this place. I think they are the most legitimate BBQ spot around this area. Everything is fresh and delicious. Don't be fooled by the looks of the old building and decor- this place has excellent food. One of my favorite things about it, is that they have a huge variety of side items, whereas most BBQ places only have the standard BBQ carbs (beans, potato salad, macaroni salad)- they have way more options here. Very disappointing. The meat smelled nice, but it was average at best and chewy at worst. If you go here, simply avoid the sides. The french fries were clearly reheated from being frozen, the mac & cheese was very bland, the rolls were stale, and the smoked beans were simply beans with very unpleasant smoke flavoring added to them. The prices weren't horrible for the average food, but with so many better BBQ places in the area, I don't see why anyone would choose to go here instead.
