My uncle saw this place had an ayce option and we decided to pop on in an hour before close. The place was empty, but I still took a chance on it. With the AYCE, you order from the front counter and they bring it out for you. When we went, they were out of sausages, ribs and baked potato's, which was expected, but disappointing. The brisket was pretty tough, the pulled pork tasted watered down almost, and the hot links just seemed like cold hot dogs tbh, not very good. The better meat option i tried was the chopped brisket, it felt more moist with more flavor. However the sides were a bit better; coleslaw was watery but still tasted okay. I didn't even wanna touch the corn and green beans after i tried them, not good at all. The mac and cheese was just a classic mac, nothing crazy, and same for the fries and fried okra; they were at least fresh out fryer tho. The zesty mac salad was probably my favorite, it had a nice spice to it and tasted pretty unique. The only desert included with the AYCE was their banana pudding and again wasn't very impressing. You can tell it was just made with banana pudding mix and tasted artificial. The service here was great tho, and the workers were very nice so that brings up my score. my son and I stopped here a couple weeks ago and had lunch it wasn't bad but it wasn't all that good neither. The service was the best part of a little girl waiting on us was very sweet and helpful sure wish I would've took a picture before we ate. The place is very stark and the decor is non-existent could've been a lot warmer to look at when you first walk in but it wasn't not saying the food was bad but over priced for what you got. Run, don't walk to Chasin' Tail. My review is just for the ribs but they are outstanding. The perfectly balanced smoke flavor is strong but not overpowering. And the rub has such great taste that you don't need sauce. They are that good. And the service is amazing. Since we were going late in the afternoon we called ahead and reserved our racks. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and ordered two of their two meat plates. I ordered sliced Brisket, hot links and baked beans with Cole slaw. Their plates come with a slice of toast and I will say unlike alot of places, their Bread was pretty yummy. The. Brisket was a bit dry but I just used some bbq sauce. I was pleased with the amount of hot link on the plate as it appeared to not just be one link. Their baked beans were good and the coleslaw was fresh. The Coleslaw was a bit bland but nothing some salt won't fix. It kind of reminded me of KFC coleslaw. I bet with a spicy bbq sauce the coleslaw would be a good contrast. My husband also ordered brisket but got his chopped. We both loved brisket and wanted to try it the different ways. Again bbq sauce to the rescue. The pulled pork would have been great on a Sandwich. His Mac and cheese was also pretty good as I kept stealing some bites when he wasnt looking. The potato salad was good as well. This was our first visit to Chasin Tail BBQ in Lake Dallas. We pass this several times a week and decided to see how good their Texas BBQ is. I ordered the two meat plate with chopped brisket and sausage. The plate also came with Texas toast and two sides which I got potato salad and green beans. The meat was very tender and the flavor of the smoked meat was evenly flavorful and smoked to perfection. The potato salad was store bought which was a let down for me because homemade sides really separates BBQ restaurants for others. If the sides we're homemade I would have gave a five star on this review. Other then this issue I plan for more visits in the future. The staff are nice and the restaurant is very clean. read more

They have a ton of side choices which I really appreciate because a lot of BBQ places are limited to beans, slaw, and potato salad. This place has corn, okra, sauteed cabbage, pinto beans, green beans, and more. The food we ordered: Pulled Pork sandwich. This is my standard rate-the-place order when I want to gauge a BBQ place. I am happy to say that this pulled pork sandwich was top-notch. The pork was very tender and not overly sauced or overly seasoned so you actually had that nice natural pork flavor. It can heaped on a pretty large white burger bun. Sliced Smoked Turkey. This was great. The outter edges had a nice color from the smoker and I could definitely taste that great smoke flavor. The turkey was very tender without being soggy. It was great - some of the best smoked turkey I've had. Side of Fried Cabbage. They call it fried cabbage but it seems more like boiled cabbage. It was REALLY good. It had small bits of bacon or ham in it. The cabbage was cooked perfectly and it was in a very flavorful broth with a good amount of seasoning. I'm definitely adding this to my regular order. Side of Green Beans. I was really happy to see this on the menu and I am happy that I ordered it. The green beans are the flat, Italian-style and they are cooked Southern-style with a broth and seasoning. They were very flavorful and very soft. Top-notch. It is also worth mentioning a few more bonuses: - They have self-serve fountain drinks (including Coke Zero) and sweet & unsweet iced tea. Some BBQ places only serve canned or bottle beverages so the self-serve fountain is great if you like refills. - They have a self-serve condiment tray of onions, pickles, jalapeños , and various sauces. I LOVE Chasin Tail! Like I LOVE LOVE it.The kids are sweet at checkout, the food is great and it's close to home. Why, then do you ask, did I only it 3 stars? Here's why: My favorite dish of their's is the loaded baked potato. It's huge, then they put all the good baked potato stuff on there and top it with barbecue!! OMG it's so good! My issue is it's all I eat here and they are frequently, like really frequently, are out of potatoes. I pop my head in to look at the board and leave if they are out. The fact that I've done this multiple times says something to me. You really need to find a new supplier or the purchaser needs to be retrained. If you sell out of them, order more.
