The selection was satisfying with predominately IPAs and milk stouts. I chose Krampus Cookies, an eye catching milk stout. Shocker! It tasted tasted lightly of sugar cookies. $5 for 10oz; a pretty [read: very] good deal, if you ask me. My next choice was: Interpretation of Vanity, a white milk stout. White milk stouts are rare, like albino deer. I had to try it, and it did not disappoint. This beer proved easy to drink and smooth tasting with the right amount of sweetness... but, this is just my Interpretation. $4 for 5oz! Looking around at what other people had to eat made my mouth water. We settled for the Spent Grain Apple Cobbler. $8 worth of ice cream, baked apples, carmel, and crumbles of goodness. I've been here 3 times since moving to the area, always sat at the bar. Beers are great. I've had a pale ale and the hazy, both brewed there and both delicious. Wings are very solid, and I love wings. The valentina hot is the closest to a standard hot wing. I wouldn't mind if they added a straight buffalo wing to the lineup - there's a reason it's a classic. I've had their burger, the big ol 8 oz patty one, and it's a good burger. Chicken sandwich is great too. And the garlic fries with either of those really hit the spot. Old Irving hits its marks well. I got a salad and it was MASSIVE and flavorful which was much appreciated since often times restaurant salads can be kind of boring. The Reuben sandwich on marble rye bread is one of the best Reubens you'll find on the north side with delicious thin sliced corned beef and the cheese curds appetizer are some of the puffiest, delicate cheese curd creations that ever danced over your tongue. Fun place that is very convenient if you are stuck at O'Hare! I had a night's stay at a hotel at O'Hare but needed to get some civilization so googled "craft beer" and OIB popped up! I hopped the Blue Line for the 20 minute ride to Montrose and the brewpub is just a short walk (like a block and a half) from the stop (exit out the south or east side) I sat at the bar and the friendly and beardy bartender was polite and efficient. I had a kolsch and the chicken sandwich, which is sort of like a chicken schnitzel. The beer was nice and the sandwich was very good. With fries, the portion was so big I couldn't finish it. The dining area has large communal tables and there is cornhole to play right near the big brewing vessels. Friendly, clean and welcoming, I would definitely return. read more

I love a brewery that does beer AND food right. OIB checks both of those boxes. I've been here for both brunch and dinner- I haven't had anything less than delicious so far. Their brunch menu is relatively small compared to their regular menu, but it definitely covers enough to make someone in your group happy. Drinks include beer + various (alcoholic) breakfast staples. I had the michelada and MAN was it spicy!! Had to have my tums on deck for this one- but I couldn't stop drinking it, it was so tasty. The space itself is spacious and a lot bigger than I thought it would be. They had a ton of games to play at your table, but like most places with games, they are missing a few pieces. (Looking at you, sad Sorry game with 2 pawns) If you're looking to hangout and play games, I would probably bring a deck of cards. Overall- I really like this place. They didn't have the sound on at all for the bears game which was a disappointment and when I asked if they would be willing to put on other games as well they said they would but then did not follow thru. To be honest I find there beers to be a bit over the top. The flavors are overbearing and not my thing and unfortunately they don't offered other brands of beer outside their own. I have been to a number of breweries around Chicago, but this is definitely among the top five when it comes to evaluation of everything - from beer selection (taste, quality, and variety), customer service, ambiance, and the overall space. And as a bonus, unlike many breweries in Chicago, Old Irving Brewing serves food and not just any food. Amazing food. My favorite was definitely their Brussel sprouts! Yummy! They have several great options for carnivores as well as vegetarians. I have to give a thumb up to our bartender (I think his name was Joshua) who was not only very nice and friendly but also extremely helpful when it comes to choosing the best beer for everyone's different preference. It makes me sad that this brewery is so far now that I know how great spot this place is! I would return back within a few days if Old Irving was not that far from where I live (loop). I tried the Reuben sandwich for St. Patty's Day, it was inedible. All the corn beef was thin slices of pure gristle. I ended up throwing it away. Service: was amazing even during Covid, but lately lacks the same charm. A lot of mistakes on my orders. Last time I was charged a $1 for requesting extra ketchup. I have been meaning to check this place out for some time. I've heard good things about it and really enjoy checking out new breweries. I came here on Sunday, 08/04/19 in the middle of the afternoon. Important stuff first... lots of street parking and easily accessible by CTA. They accept debit and cash. Lots of bar seating and TONS of tables. We got a spot at the bar and we tended to promptly. Friendly bar staff who answered all our questions and provided some suggestions. Solid looking food menu (want to try boneless rib) and even better beer menu. My favorite beer... pineapple...really good stuff. Great flavor and perfect amount of sour to it. There was a sick looking Stout, it at 12.5% alcohol, I'll hold off on that one. Okay who am I kidding, I'll try it the next time I am there. I also had a Mai Tai IPA (think it was an IPA). Solid beer with lots of great flavor. Such a great local brewery! This is a go to for my boyfriend and I as we live in the Old Irving Park area and this place is within walking distance. The food is phenomenal and the drinks are a delight. We have yet to be disappointed by the quality of food & beverages. Their burger of the week is always a fun way to try something different, and they always have unique combinations. We have been meaning to come and order just appetizers.... Because trust me they are drool worthy. Prices are a little on the high side, but you are paying for top quality products and freshness. Beer is good and what you'd expect from a micro brewery. Good selection. My favorite part is their cocktail menu. Often times brewery's miss the mark with their "non beer" items, but I have been pleasantly surprised with their fun cocktail menu. Honestly I rarely write reviews but felt the need to post one after my experience last night. There's a lot that I like about the place---cool bar & patio area, good beer & creative cocktails but the food & service here is sub-par. The wings are rubbery as hell and I literally couldn't even stomach them. Asked for them well done but clearly they weren't. The fries are those cheap frozen kinds they serve at like bowling alleys, and the mac and cheese was pretty bland. I had a male server who was rude & not attentive at all. Even the lady dining next to us had to grab a bus boy & tell him her server was horrible & asked that he attend to her instead. There are way too many good food spots around the area (which also provide great service) to settle, so needless to say I won't be returning. read more

My girlfriend had the chopped salad which contained: house greens, pepperoncini, feta cheese, tomato, cucumber, carrot, Kalamata olives, toasted bread crumbs, and creamy poppy seed dressing. In her words, "One of the best salads I've ever had!" We also had French fries. They were garlic, parsley, sea salt, and served with beer vinegar aioli. The fries were fantastic. To drink she had the Scentinel - IPA 7 Tulip (16oz) / 5 10oz / 3 Taster (5oz) / 16 Growler (64oz). Wasn't bad. I had the Dance Break - Pale Ale 6 Tulip (16oz) / 4 10oz / 2 Taster (5oz) / 14 Growler (64oz). I love it. Definitely recommend. They are pretty much limited to the beers they brew. Lastly, I wanted to commend them on their SUICIDE PREVENTION. They have their own beers, apparel, even coasters promoting this. Get a growler - share with friends (when we can do that responsibly again) * house salad - wouldn't have believed it at first but we stopped getting fries on the side (get an order for the table) and switch to the excellent salad. (and the dressing is great! give it a try.) So-so things: * going with kids - for a long time we stopped going with our kids because the waitstaff in the main room were really not good with families. Lots of waiting or cold food. Just generally inattentive. * Vegetables - somewhat in the kids category - but if you have a friend who wants to eat more simply, there are no roasted vegetables on the menu. (they do have an excellent house salad and dressing though.) Nice to have an option on the northwest side of the city when I'm up in my old neighborhood visiting. Another perk it's just off of 90/94. Plenty of street parking in front and a nice option for people to walk to also. Nice open space divided in two areas, upon entering you'll find the bar and a few tables some high-tops, just on the other side is more of a dining room, all tables nicely spaced. You'll see the brewing operation towards the back, along with an a area where people can play bags. This end of the room is a little noisier with all the activity. Although the place is a bit noisy due to all the hard surfaces. Sure, it's expected to be a bit noisy, however when the volume is so loud and you can't hear the person across from you but you need to move because the people a few tables down are talking over you it's to much. Time to get something on the walls that absorb noise. The amazing high ceilings add to the drama of the room, the only problem is that it makes the place hard or maybe to expensive to heat, I had to keep my coat on for most of the visit, I did take it off because I was uncomfortable with it on, but I was still cold. Immediately thinking it was me I looked around and noticed other people with coats on too. The person I was with commented that she's been there a couple of times and also was cold. The beer selection looked good, although I had a glass of wine, a small selection, this is fine I wasn't even expecting them to have wine so I appreciated being able to have the choice, they also have a couple of ciders on draft. For a snack I had the wood-fired cauliflower, very tasty, but putting the word "wood-fired" in the name I would've like a little more char. It was definately a sharable appetizer or a nice side.
