If you like middle eastern food, you will love Zaatar Lebanese Restaurant. I didn't dine in,…read moreinstead placed an order online and was excited to get my order within 20 mins. I chose something simple and it was very tasty. I ate it all very quickly. I do however wish I were a fan of pistachios as it was very picturesque behind the glass display case. I topped off my meal with a very flavorful drink that vaguely reminded me of Sonic's cherry limeade. A fast-food drink I love, by the way. I told my daughter we have to go back and in the meantime I recommend this restaurant highly.

He not only answered every question we had about the menu, he was so gracious to get the manager when he wasn't sure on how to explain an item to us. He was prompt and checked on us often, very much appreciated. As an appetizer we tried a cup of the lentil soup, it was so comforting and warming, it had a savory taste. We also tried the falafel appetizer and it tasted so good, flakey, and the sauce it came with was perfection! The falafel tasted so good on its own. My husband and I decided to share one plate, the mixed shawarma plate, it was very big and enough for the both of us. It comes with pita bread! The chicken and gyro meat were so perfectly seasoned, the beef shawarma was good, not great. All the specialty sauces: hummus, garlic and tzatziki were absolutely tasty! We asked for more as it just complimented every bite! The plate also comes with a lemony salad, which went perfectly with every thing! We fell in love with their rice, we ordered a side of just rice! It's absolutely lovely! To drink we got their hot tea, which is black tea and you can choose to have it with natural mint leaves, it was perfection in a cup! The music was traditional Lebanese, which made you feel like you were transported to Lebanon. Will be going back very soon!

He didn't hesitate to give us some meat sample to try. I got the chicken shawarma wrap and the beef too. The sandwiches were stuffed! It comes with fries, coleslaw and pickles. He was truly polite how he came to the car to deliver them. The truck is in a parking lot on i10. It is grab and go or eat in your car type of deal I will definitely be back to try his Italian chicken sandwich

They opened up only a few weeks back so the spot is still relatively new to San Antonio, but this isn't the owner's first food truck! Turns out he owned New York Grill Express, a food truck I used to go to all the time near my house! Service is typically pretty fast, maybe 15 mins, which is typical for middle eastern food trucks! My favorite item here would have to be their mouthwatering chicken tenders. I just haven't had anything like it, especially with their special sauce! Definitely a must try while you're ordering from here! They're open late & right now they're parked alongside Sea Island Shrimp House off of I-10, but check out their page to stay up to date with wherever they'll be next! It's a food truck in a parking lot with no seating, which makes it a takeaway spot for sure!

I don't believe the overall experience warrants more than two stars…read more I kept seeing these amazing photos posted by Shawarmatee on social media, so we decided to drive out to their food truck on Friday evening. The truck is parked in the Shell gas station on the corner of Babcock and Wurzbach. There's space for about 5 or 6 cars on the side of the food truck. The menu is prominently displayed, and the area around looks as clean as one would expect a gas station parking lot to be. The gentleman taking orders and packaging the food was polite enough. I'm not one for overly effusive or disingenuous customer service. As long as you're not a jerk and the food and price are right, I can tolerate a bland interaction. We asked for details about a couple of menu items, but he kind of nodded while never answering the questions. We ordered the mix shawarma plate, two Arabi wraps, and an order of falafel, as well as a can of Coke, bottles of water, and a mango drink. It took about 15 minutes for our order to be ready, and everything was hot and well-packaged. He even threw in some extra tahini and garlic sauces (or what he said was garlic and tahini sauce). My kids said the Arabi wraps were fine. They didn't think the sauce had any garlic flavor whatsoever, and the tahini tasted more of oil than anything else. My husband and I both agreed that the beef included on our mixed shawarma plates tasted off. There's a sweetness that develops as red meat begins to turn, and that's the unpleasant flavor we detected when we ate our plates. The chicken, as many other Yelpers have pointed out, was beyond dry. It lacked seasoning and was throat-scratchingly dry. The salad was uninspired and lazy, and the rice was adequate. The falafel was broken and burned in areas, but had an overall good flavor and almost fluffy texture. I had to agree with the kids that the garlic sauce tasted more like mayo. We didn't finish our food and ended up going to an Indian food truck down the street to fill our stomachs. I feel bad writing this because this is an elderly gentleman, but I also don't think the feedback on the chicken and the quality of food is being addressed. We want to go out and feel we're getting our money, gas, and time's worth, and Shawarmatee failed to deliver on that. Instead, it feels like a cash grab from unsuspecting diners.
